On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared welcomes functional medicine dietitian and gut-health expert Lisa Smith for a deep dive into one of the most overlooked systems influencing hormone balance: the estrobolome. If you've never heard that word before, you're not alone — but by the end of this conversation you'll understand why the estrobolome may be the missing link in stubborn hormone symptoms, estrogen dominance, thyroid sluggishness, mood changes, and even men's testosterone challenges. Jared and Lisa break down how gut bacteria influence estrogen detoxification, what beta-glucuronidase is actually doing behind the scenes, why bile flow matters (especially if you don't have a gallbladder), and how fiber, cruciferous vegetables, and targeted nutrients can support healthy hormone metabolism. This is a practical, empowering discussion designed to help you understand root causes rather than chase symptoms. Whether you're navigating perimenopause, PCOS, thyroid issues, mood swings, stubborn weight, or low energy, this episode brings science down to earth with simple, realistic starting points for rebuilding gut balance and restoring hormonal resiliency — naturally and safely.Products:Precision ProbioticLiverVitality EndoCleanseAdditional Information:Pretty Well PodcastInstagramLisa Smith WellnessVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. For years, functional medicine has focused on lab results and supplement protocols. Dr. Deanna Minich knows there's a deeper layer most practitioners miss. As a nutrition scientist who worked under Dr. Jeffrey Bland and educated for the Institute for Functional Medicine, she's witnessed how artificial light at night disrupts women's hormones more than almost any other factor, yet it's completely ignored. In this episode, Dr. Minich reveals why 85% of people are Omega-3 deficient despite supplementing, how eating a rainbow of 30+ plant species weekly rebuilds your microbiome diversity, and why your skin's "photo-metabolome" produces healing compounds from sunlight that Vitamin D pills can never provide. She explains the Goldilocks principle of sun exposure, why most women only get 11-15 grams of fiber daily when they need triple that, and how stress functions as a toxin that triggers leaky gut and impairs detoxification. Dr. Minich also shares why women's heightened sensitivity isn't a weakness but a powerful gift for intuition and healing. If you're tired of functional medicine that stops at labs and supplements, this conversation offers a comprehensive framework integrating circadian optimization, creative expression, gut diversity, and the spiritual aspects of women's health that determine true longevity.Guest's socials + websiteInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/deannaminich/Website: https://deannaminich.com/Kayla's social + website:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kaylabarnes/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@femalelongevityTwitter: https://x.com/femalelongevityWebsite: https://www.kaylabarnes.com/Follow Her Female Protocol: https://www.protocol.kaylabarnes.com/Become a Member of Kayla's Female Longevity Membership: https://kayla-barnes-lentz.circle.so/checkout/become-a-member
Hey Friend, If food has felt confusing or heavy lately, this week's podcast episode was created just for you. So many women have been taught that balancing blood sugar means counting, tracking, restricting, or starting over again. But that kind of pressure only creates more stress… and stress is one of the biggest disruptors of hormones and energy. In this short episode of Functional Medicine for Christian Women, I'm sharing a simple, freeing approach to blood sugar balance that doesn't involve counting macros, calories, or following another rigid plan. Inside the episode, we talk about: • What blood sugar balance really is (and what it's not) • Why diet culture makes this harder than it needs to be • A simple framework for eating that supports hormones and energy • How nourishment creates safety for your body instead of stress And to support you even more, I've also created a free, printable tool you can start using right away: • A 1-page blood sugar guide You can find both inside my Holistic Health Hub, which is completely free and filled with functional medicine tools for women and children. Friend, you don't need more rules around food. You need rhythms that support your body and bring peace back to the table. In grace + health, Lacy Lain Before you go…
Welcome to "Thriving in Midlife Redefining Aging with Wellness" the podcast where we discuss how to live an extraordinary life in every aspect. I'm your host, Kellie Lupsha, a high-performance health coach, who is delighted to be your guide to vitality. In today's episode, Dr. Heide and I dive into a topic most women don't think about until it becomes a problem: the truth about bone strength, aging, and preventing the kinds of injuries that can dramatically change our future. As winter sets in and the risk of slips, trips, and falls increases, I wanted to have a real conversation about how we can support our bodies from the inside out.Key Highlights:Why women are more prone to falls and fractures (especially hip fractures). The myths about calcium supplements and why calcium alone isn't enough. The importance of vitamin D, K2, and magnesium for bone strength. How movement, especially jumping, rebounding, lifting weights, and unilateral exercises, activates the parathyroid gland to strengthen bones. Why the U.S. has high hip-fracture rates despite heavy calcium supplementation. The role of collagen and strontium in bone remodeling.Personal and client success stories with OsteoStrong and strength training. The message: bone health is built over years, and what you do today determines your mobility, aging, and longevity.Key Takeaways:“Once a woman… gets that hip fracture, your chances of survival for the next three to five years plummet significantly. You just shorten your lifespan dramatically after that hip fracture.” -Kellie Lupsha“Every time you work out, every time you jump up and down… we activate the parathyroid gland, and it really charges up or balances that calcium in our body.” -Dr.Heidi*TAKE THE FREE ~ DISCOVER YOUR MIDLIFE HEALTH BLUEPRINT*****>>> Click Here

Many people today describe a pattern they cannot explain. Life feels manageable until something unexpected happens at work or home, then the body suddenly shuts down. The mind spins, energy collapses, irritability rises, and the only thing that feels safe is withdrawing into the couch, the phone, or Netflix. This is not laziness or burnout. This is functional freeze. In this hol+ conversation, Dr. Taz sits down with environmental and root cause medicine expert Dr. Jessica Peatross (Dr. Jess) to reveal why so many people experience chronic fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, histamine reactions, food sensitivities and unexplained inflammation even when routine labs look normal.Instead of chasing symptoms or isolated toxins, Dr. Jess explains how a dysregulated nervous system alters detox, hormones, digestion, immunity and gene expression. She breaks down how trauma, mold exposure, hidden infections, parasites and environmental chemicals overload the body when the vagus nerve is stuck in fight, flight or freeze. And she shows why healing is impossible when the body does not feel safe. From childhood trauma and dorsal vagal shutdown to blocked drainage pathways, cytokine storms, reactivated viruses and misdiagnosed environmental illness, this episode reframes chronic symptoms through a lens of nervous system physiology, not personal weakness or aging. You will learn what functional freeze looks like, why detox often makes people worse, how to identify nervous system dysregulation, and the steps Dr. Jess uses to help patients regulate, open pathways and finally begin to heal. Together, Dr. Taz and Dr. Jess outline a clear, compassionate roadmap for anyone who has ever felt dismissed, overwhelmed or stuck in a body that will not calm down.Dr. Taz and Dr. Jess discuss: • What functional freeze is and why it shows up in daily life • How nervous system dysregulation drives fatigue, anxiety and chronic symptoms • The role of mold, parasites, toxins and environmental chemicals in chronic illness • Why detox fails when the body does not feel safe • Vagus nerve physiology and dorsal vs ventral vagal states • How trauma, stress and grief reshape hormones, immune function and methylation • Medical dismissal and the reality of normal labs with real symptoms • The drainage pathways that must open before detox • Histamine issues, MCAS, POTS and their connection to the nervous system • Tools that help regulate the system and support healing • How to track progress through sleep, HRV, emotional stability and digestion • Why healing is not linear and why support and community matterAbout Dr. Jessica Peatross Dr. Jessica Peatross is a functional and environmental medicine expert known for her work on nervous system dysregulation, toxin-driven illness and trauma informed detox. She is the founder of WellnessPlus, an educational platform teaching step-by-step protocols for mold, parasites, drainage and nervous system healing. In this episode, Kelly talks with Dr. Remina Panjwani about health, personal growth, and purpose. Join us and explore the differences between conventional and functional medicine, why a reactive approach often falls short, and how personalized care can transform your life. Whether you're exploring functional medicine, personal growth, or breaking generational patterns, this episode offers insights to live more intentionally, authentically, and healthfully. [1:46] Paving the Way Forward "I'm the 1st generation to grow up in the United States to have a college education." [2:58] Choosing My Own Path "I come from a South Asian background as well. And so, if you're traditional, they're like, 'Oh, just get married, have kids, whatever,' right? I'm like, 'Mm, no. I needed to do something different.'" [5:17] The Military Path "I can say now with confidence, I was searching for my purpose." [10:30] Right Frequency "You find your people when you're in the right environment and the right frequency." [12:02] Building My Own Path in Medicine "We're in a sick reactive system. So I got certified in functional medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. And then I thought, well, the system's broken. I just need to make my own." [17:27] Healing What's Underneath "You could be doing the right things. You could still be eating the right things, but there may be something deeper." [25:30] The Cortisol "So your body's still going to produce that cortisol and other neurochemicals that are released to keep you safe and flee and save your life. The thing is once that acute threat is gone, your body can relax." [36:27] Conventional Medicine and Functional Medicine "When you look at conventional medicine, it's a bandage approach, a reactive approach…when you look at functional medicine, advanced labs, it's actually really personalized, to the point where it's very advanced." [41:48] The Odd Girl Out, Doctor Within: A Story of Purpose, Pillars, and Personal Power "So then if you don't have access to a functional medicine doctor, a holistic practice or spiritual guide or whatever, then I added each chapter to a supplemental workbook. So it can help guide yourself." [45:58] Generational Trauma "If the mom is in a stressful environment, be it physical, mental, they're consuming whatever the case is, toxins, right? It's going to affect the baby, it gets into their telomeres, their DNA, etc." [53:27] Growth Reveals True Connections "When you're awakened and you're becoming more of you. I had goosebumps during this conversation with Johanna Dahlman, the Alopecia Angel. Her story from devastating hair loss diagnosis to growing thick hair an inch per month shows what's possible when you stop treating symptoms and start healing root causes. What really amazed me is that 90% of her clients see hair growth in under 8 weeks. Not through quick fixes, but by identifying blind spots like medications (birth control, SSRIs), hair products in active lawsuits, breast implants triggering autoimmune responses, and environmental toxins we never consider. This isn't just about hair though; it's about whole health. Her clients don't just regrow hair, they get their energy back, joint pain disappears, and they show up differently in relationships and careers. If you're dealing with any type of hair loss or autoimmunity, this conversation will shift how you think about healing. What if longevity wasn't just about extending lifespan, but expanding the years you live with strength, clarity, and vitality? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Christopher Keroack, an internist who brings a powerful clinical lens to the science of aging well. Our conversation starts with a question I believe every patient should ask: Are we adding years to life, or adding life to years? Dr. Keroack walks me through how medicine has shifted from simply preventing death to actively preserving vitality, and why the distinction between lifespan and healthspan is now more important than ever. We dive into the 12 hallmarks of aging, mitochondrial health, synolytics for clearing zombie cells, and the emerging role of peptide therapy in longevity. We also explore the practical metrics that matter most — VO2 max, muscle mass, body composition, blood pressure regulation — and how these biomarkers shape the trajectory of aging. What I appreciate about Dr. Keroack's perspective is his balance. He's grounded in internal medicine, understands genetics and environmental triggers, and still champions lifestyle as the foundation of long-term wellness. From hormone optimization to the nuanced use of antibiotics, we cover the strategies and controversies shaping modern longevity medicine. This episode is for anyone who wants to understand the science behind staying youthful and take actionable control of their health trajectory. Key takeaways: Lifespan vs. Healthspan: Dr. Keroack emphasizes the importance of living a longer yet healthier life, integrating longevity with quality daily experiences. Lifestyle Pillars: Integrative habits like deep sleep, nutrition, stress management, and social connectivity are highlighted as fundamental in promoting healthspan. Supplements and Insights: Berberine, NMN, and creatine are identified as pivotal supplements for boosting longevity, alongside strategic exercise for maintaining VO2 max and muscle mass. Role of Peptides: Peptide therapy, including BPC157 and TB4 frag, is discussed as an evolving frontier in personalizing longevity and enhancing recovery from physical stresses. Science and Practicality: With firsthand experiences, Dr. Keroack shares invaluable wisdom, advocating for a balanced approach that values integrity over the unattainable quest for immortality. More About Dr. Christopher Keroack: Dr. Christopher Keroack is board certified in both internal medicine and functional medicine. He received his formal education from Amherst College (BA), Springfield College (MS) and Tufts University School of Medicine (MD). In addition to his formal training, he has obtained certifications in Functional Medicine, Age Management Medicine, Naturopathic and Integrative Medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine as well as The Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation for Age Management Medicine. He has spoken both nationally and internationally on weight loss, nutrition, fitness and functional medicine. His combination of experience and training has enabled him to develop a comprehensive and complete approach to optimizing health, wellness and vitality. Website Instagram Connect with me! She collaborates with parents whose children have autism. She is a Yale University trained scientist, medical strategist, and autism parent. She knew something was wrong with her daughter. She just had this intuition. Her daughter was developing but there was just something not right. She had a nagging feeling and everyone kept telling her to ignore it and that everything was fine, but she ignored herself and that is what she gets really mad about. She got an autism diagnosis, and it was devastating. She was upset with her daughter. But she was really upset at herself because she did not listen to herself. She started going from doctor to doctor to try to see how she could get healthier, but those doctors would just say “Ooh that's just autism.” And it was like they were back before the diagnosis when she said something was wrong and people told her not to worry. She was determined not to make that mistake again! So, she came up to speed on the autism research literature, put together a top-notch healthcare team that included a Functional Medicine specialist, and listened to her intuition. Her daughter is thriving, and they are having so much family fun. They are doing the things she dreamed about.Since then, doctors started asking her to teach other parents what she knew about autism and that led to her website, her book, and collaborating one-on-one with parents in over eighteen countries. She teaches parents the innovative science of autism research so that they can make the best decisions for their child. Plus, then they can have extraordinary family fun they always wanted with their children. She is the author of “The Lyons Report 2020: Autism and Functional Medicine Doctors.” https://awetism.net/http://www.yourlotandparcel.org
Hey Friend, If hormones feel like a puzzle you can't solve, today's podcast episode is for you. In this episode, we go deeper than supplements and surface-level fixes. We talk about what I call the blueprint—the daily, doable lifestyle rhythms that actually create hormonal stability. This is where lifestyle medicine starts to work. If you've been feeling exhausted, foggy, irritable, bloated, or just “off,” it's not because you're failing or broken. Most often, it's because your body is responding to an environment that's out of sync—blood sugar swings, disrupted circadian rhythm, and chronic stress all working together. And supplements alone cannot override that. In this episode, I walk you through: Why fatigue is often rooted in blood sugar, stress, and circadian rhythm How simple daily rhythms like morning sunlight, evening wind-downs, and gentle movement support cortisol and energy Why fitting these habits into your real schedule matters more than doing them “perfectly” How your nervous system sets the tone for mood, digestion, and hormone balance Why consistency and simplicity matter more than doing everything at once I also share personally about walking through prolonged stress, how it impacted my body, and what it's looked like to rebuild rhythms in real life—not in an ideal, Pinterest-perfect world. Here's the key takeaway I want you to hear: Your hormones are not random. They are responsive. They respond to how you sleep, how you eat, how you move, how you rest, and how much stress you're carrying. When we align our lifestyle with the rhythms God designed—sleep, nourishment, movement, and rest—our hormones follow. Not because we forced them. But because we supported them. I also talk about simple practices like breath prayers, protein-rich meals, regular movement, and calming your nervous system while eating—things that regulate digestion and mood far more effectively than chasing the next supplement. And if you're listening and thinking, “This makes sense, but I need help building this into my real life,” that's exactly why the Women's Functional Health Lab exists. Inside the Lab, we focus on building these rhythms step by step, with clarity, grace, and a plan that actually fits your life. If you want to be first to know when the Lab opens again (and access our upcoming bonus), make sure you're on the waitlist. You are not alone. You are not broken. Your body just needs the right environment to do what God designed it to do. I'll meet you inside the episode. In grace + health, Lacy Lain Before you go…

It can manifest due to various reasons, including long-term COVID-19 effects, traumatic brain injuries, autoimmune disorders, or nutritional deficiencies. Identifying the root cause is crucial for targeted treatment. Practitioners are encouraged to explore underlying issues such as inflammation, prior head injuries, and even dietary influences, as gluten sensitivity is known to contribute to brain fog. ### Treatment Protocols: - Employ FSM brain fog protocols tailored to the suspected underlying cause. - Combine FSM with anti-inflammatory protocols and nutritional support to enhance cognitive function. - Consider functional medicine assessments for potential autoimmune influences contributing to cognitive impairment. ## Addressing Neurological and Autoimmune Disorders Neurological issues like frozen shoulder, anxiety, and depression often have deeper roots in systemic inflammation or autoimmunity. Understanding the interconnectedness of these conditions can aid in creating a more holistic treatment plan. ### Approach: - Employ FSM protocols for inflammation and specific tissue types to alleviate physical symptoms and improve mobility in cases like frozen shoulder. - In cases of anxiety or depression, consider FSM as part of a broader treatment plan that includes examining potential autoimmune components. - Education on the impact of environmental and dietary factors, such as gluten intake and mold exposure, can also be critical in managing these disorders. ## Supporting Detoxification and Chronic Conditions Patients with chronic illnesses such as Lyme disease, mold exposure, and multiple chemical sensitivities often experience heightened sensitivity to electromagnetic fields and other stimuli, complicating treatment. ### Strategies: - Begin treatments at low FSM intensity settings for highly sensitive individuals to prevent overwhelming detox reactions. - Use adjunctive therapies, such as detox supplements and homeopathic remedies, to support the body's natural detox pathways alongside FSM protocols. - Ensure thorough documentation of patients' responses to different treatments to continually adapt and refine therapeutic approaches. ## The Role of Functional Testing Functional testing can be invaluable in uncovering the hidden complexities of chronic conditions. Tests for autoimmune markers, food sensitivities, and chronic infections should be considered standard practice for patients presenting with persistent or complex symptoms. ### Testing Recommendations: - Conduct comprehensive panels to screen for autoimmune activity, chronic infections, and nutritional deficiencies. - Use test results to tailor FSM and other therapeutic interventions to address specific immune system challenges and support overall patient health. ## Enhancing Clinical Practice with FSM Integrating FSM into medical practice allows practitioners to offer a non-invasive and highly adaptable treatment option for a wide range of conditions.

Hey Heal Squad! Maria is literally talking to a living legend today! We are with Dr. Jeffrey Bland, who is widely known as the Father of Functional Medicine! Friends this is a powerful deep dive into what true health really means. Instead of focusing only on disease, Dr. Bland explains how functional medicine looks at the entire communication system of the body, like how your organs, metabolism, brain, and behavior work together to create resilience. He breaks down why our immune system fully regenerates every four months, how women's immune systems are more sophisticated (and therefore more reactive), and why understanding root causes is the only real path toward healing chronic conditions. You'll also learn why light is a nutrient, why circadian rhythm matters, and why the goal of health isn't the absence of disease… it's better function. This episode is the reset your health curiosity has been waiting for. HEALERS & HEAL-LINERS: Functional Medicine = Health Through Function, Not Disease Dr. Bland redefines health by looking at four pillars — physical, metabolic, cognitive, and behavioral function. When these systems work well together, you work well. Your Immune System Rebuilds Every 4 Months Your body makes an entirely new immune system every season. Your choices today determine whether your next “upgrade” makes you stronger or more inflamed. Light, Rhythm & Environment Are Medicine Too Sunlight, circadian rhythm, red-light therapy, nutrition, sleep, stress, and emotional patterns all act as “inputs” that shape your biology. Your body is always in conversation with the world around you. Millions of women say the same thing in their late 30s and 40s “I don't feel like myself anymore.” Fatigue grows, stress tolerance collapses, brain fog hits, and everyday tasks suddenly require more effort. Yet most are told it's “normal aging,” “just stress,” or “anxiety.”In this hol+ episode, Dr. Taz sits down with functional medicine expert and bestselling author Dr. Mariza Snyder to ask the hard questions about perimenopause, what it is, when does perimenopause start, and why rage, irritability, and cognitive changes are often the earliest symptoms women experience.Together, they unpack why perimenopause is widely misdiagnosed, why progesterone decline shows up long before hot flashes or missed periods, how estrogen fluctuations affect brain function, and why so many women feel like their identity, mood, and capacity are suddenly slipping away. From mood swings, brain fog, and sleep crashes to metabolic slowdowns and rising visceral fat, this conversation reframes perimenopause symptoms as hormone-driven neurological and physiological shifts — not personal weakness, aging, or lack of willpower. You will learn what perimenopause is, what age perimenopause starts, why rage and irritability show up first, and how to track early hormone changes through menstrual patterns, symptoms, biometrics, and stress physiology. Dr. Taz and Dr. Mariza also share lifestyle tools, boundaries, morning and evening routines, and targeted support that help stabilize brain energy, mood, and metabolic health during this transition.Dr. Taz and Dr. Mariza discuss: • What is perimenopause and why it hits earlier than women expect • When does perimenopause start and what age perimenopause typically begins • Why perimenopause rage is real and often the first warning sign • Perimenopause brain fog, cognitive shifts, and declining stress tolerance • Progesterone decline, estrogen fluctuations, and why hormones become unpredictable • Perimenopause vs aging: why symptoms are dismissed or misdiagnosed • Mood swings, irritability, fatigue, and the identity shift many women feel • Early metabolic changes in perimenopause and why belly fat increases • How to track symptoms, cycles, HRV, sleep, and biomarkers for early clues • Tools women can use: routines, nervous system regulation, boundaries, lifestyle resets • When progesterone or estrogen support can make a meaningful difference • Why community and sisterhood become critical for emotional resilienceAbout Dr. Mariza Snyder Dr. Mariza Snyder is a functional practitioner, women's health expert, hormone educator, and bestselling author of The Perimenopause Revolution. With over 15 years of clinical experience, she helps women navigate perimenopause and midlife with clarity, confidence, and science-based tools that support hormone balance, brain health, emotional resilience, and metabolic vitality. Her work empowers women to understand what perimenopause is, recognize early symptoms, and take back control of their health with practical strategies and integrative support.Stay Connected:Connect further to Hol+ at https://holplus.co/- Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on future episodes of hol+.Follow Dr. Mariza Snyder:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drmariza/Podcast: Energized with Dr. Mariza Book: The Perimenopause Revolution Follow Dr. Taz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtazmd/https://www.instagram.com/liveholplus/Subscribe to the audio podcast: https://holplus.transistor.fm/subscribeSubscribe to the video podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@DrTazMD/podcastsGet your copy of The Hormone Shift: Balance Your Body and Thrive Through Midlife and MenopauseHost & Production TeamHost: Dr. Taz; Produced by ClipGrowth.com (Producer: Pat Gostek)

Many people experience a deep, lingering fatigue that isn't fixed by a full night's sleep, and it often stems from real imbalances inside the body. When mitochondria—the tiny engines that power our cells—are stressed by poor diet, toxins, infections, or lack of rest, the whole system can slow down. Ongoing stress can also disrupt the adrenal system, leaving some people feeling wired and anxious while others feel drained from morning to night. The encouraging news is that steady habits like nourishing whole foods, balanced blood sugar, restorative sleep, and gentle movement can help the body find its rhythm again. With the right support, energy often returns, and a sense of hope does, too. In this episode, I dive into, along with Dr. Izabella Wentz and Dr. Elizabeth Boham, the real roots of chronic fatigue, showing how stress, lifestyle, and hidden imbalances drain our energy—and how practical, nourishing habits can help restore it. Izabella Wentz is an internationally acclaimed thyroid specialist and a licensed pharmacist who has dedicated her career to addressing the root causes of autoimmune thyroid disease after being diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2009. She is the author of three books on Hashimoto's: Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause, Hashimoto's Food Pharmacology, and Hashimoto's Protocol, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller. Dr. Elizabeth Boham is Board Certified in Family Medicine from Albany Medical School, and she is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner and the Medical Director of The UltraWellness Center. Dr. Boham lectures on a variety of topics, including Women's Health and Breast Cancer Prevention, insulin resistance, heart health, weight control and allergies. She is on the faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine. This episode is brought to you by BIOptimizers. Head to bioptimizers.com/hyman and use code HYMAN to save 15%. Episode Summary: This episode is powered by The 7 Figure Shift Workshop “Radical honesty is the bridge between the body you have and the life you crave.” – Maraya Brown Can we be honest?! There is an often-overlooked link between hormone balance and a woman's ability to lead, speak and be seen at scale. And because it's been overlooked, we are definitely not taking it into consideration as women leveraging & scaling business empires. That stops TODAY. If you're scaling to seven figures while secretly ignoring the signs your body is whispering (or screaming), this episode is your wake-up call. Legacy-led leadership doesn't come from burnout; it's built from balance. In this intimate and disruptive conversation, Dr. Darnyelle sits down with Maraya Brown—Yale-trained CNM, women's health expert, and powerhouse CEO—to unpack the truth about what it really takes to sustain your brilliance without sacrificing your body. We're talking hormones, perimenopause, adrenal fatigue, libido, nervous system regulation, and the untold cost of hustling while hormonally depleted. You'll finally understand how your body, brain, and bank account are inextricably linked—and why optimizing your internal ecosystem is your next million-dollar move. Whether you're in the boardroom, the bedroom, or the bleeding edge of burnout, this is the episode that will change the way you do business—because if your health is on the back burner, so is your impact. This is your invitation to ditch the myth that scaling a business means sacrificing your body. If you've been running on caffeine, willpower, and survival mode, it's time to reclaim the vitality that fuels true overflow. Hit play to discover why the real ROI comes when your hormones, heart, and hustle are finally aligned. Here's the truth: A dysregulated nervous system, depleted hormones, and unresolved trauma will cap your capacity faster than any business bottleneck. Most seven-figure CEOs aren't underperforming—they're over-extended and under-resourced internally. Your strategy isn't broken—your system is screaming. Real overflow starts in your body. You'll walk away with a powerful framework to reconnect with your physical body as a portal to profit, new language for understanding what your burnout and libido are really trying to tell you and a reset button for how you show up in your business and your relationships. Get your Move to Millions Podcast notebook ready—you'll want to take notes on the lessons packed into this incredible conversation! Listen in to discover: ✔ How to identify hormonal imbalances that are silently sabotaging your business success ✔ Why regulating your nervous system is the ultimate secret to scaling with sustainability ✔ 3 non-negotiables every 7-figure woman must prioritize to access overflow, pleasure, and profit ✔ And so much more This episode is a call to stop gaslighting your own body in the name of ambition. It's time to shift the paradigm: from success that depletes to success that sustains. In a market that glorifies hustle and downplays healing, this episode challenges the high-achieving woman to get radically honest about what she's carrying—physically, emotionally, and hormonally—and how it's affecting her ability to lead, love, and live fully. Maraya Brown delivers insights that will shift your physiology and your profitability. Powerful Quotes from The Episode: “Radical honesty is the bridge between the body you have and the life you crave.” – Maraya Brown “Your body doesn't lie—but you've learned to ignore her.” – Darnyelle Jervey Harmon “We cannot grow sustainably in our business if we're silently eroding in our body.” – Maraya Brown “Overflow is not just about money; it's about hormones, health, and harmony.” – Darnyelle Jervey Harmon “Most women think their exhaustion is normal; but it's not your normal, it's your nervous system in distress.” – Maraya Brown Questions to Ask Yourself While Listening: Where in my life am I pretending I feel fine when I'm actually depleted? What story am I telling myself about needing to “push through” that no longer serves me? How might honoring my body create more income than any launch or sales strategy? When was the last time I felt deep, sustainable energy and vitality? What would radically honest self-care actually look like in this season? Most people think high blood pressure is just about “bad pipes,” but it's really a whole–body problem driven by inflammation, insulin resistance, and years of eating sugary, processed foods. Hidden problems like sleep apnea, belly fat, toxins, and not getting enough key nutrients slowly damage your blood vessels and raise the risk of heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and memory loss. Instead of simply pushing the numbers down with medication, the Functional Medicine approach looks for the real “why” behind high blood pressure in each person—food choices, sleep, stress, genetics, environment, and more. By rebuilding health with real food and targeted nutrients, better sleep, movement, and stress relief, many of these root causes can be reversed or improved. The message is clear: high blood pressure isn't destiny, and with the right changes, the body often has a powerful ability to heal. In this episode, I speak about, along with Dr. George Papanicolaou and Dr. Cindy Geyer, how high blood pressure is largely driven by inflammation and lifestyle factors, but with some foundational changes it can be reversed. Dr. George Papanicolaou is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is Board Certified in Family Medicine from Abington Memorial Hospital. Over time as the healthcare system made it harder for patients to receive personal care, Dr. Papanicolaou decided a change was needed. He began training in Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine. In 2015, he established Cornerstone Personal Health—a practice dedicated entirely to Functional Medicine. In August 2017, Dr. Papanicolaou joined The UltraWellness Center. Dr. Cindy Geyer received her bachelor of science and her doctor of medicine degrees, with honors, from the Ohio State University. She completed residency in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. and is triple board certified in internal medicine, integrative medicine and lifestyle medicine.
