We kick this week off with some listener emails! Should Chuck have suspected foul play in his recent coffeeshop misadventure? We talk about the below Web Couliers, then Chuck talks about the exciting things he's been up to recently. Filming and editing the big Tell Em Steve-Dave/Smodcast crossover episodes. Starting to work with Tuesdays With Stories. Possibly getting an office? As all this is going on, he suffers a mystery injury and worries deeply about his immediate and long-term future. He actually films with the Tuesdays guys, eats at the delicious restaurant J22 in Jamestown, RI, then (spoiler alert) goes all-in on the office. Sure, moving him in went smoothly, but how did actually setting everything up go? We then discuss the likelihood of Chuck being attacked by creatures when working alone in his office at night. I offer a paltry celebration for my paltry achievements and we talk about being above- or below-average in different areas of our lives. - Brad WEB COULIERS:VIDEO: Kacy & Clayton & Marlon Williams: NPR Tiny Desk ConcertIMAGES: ART WEEK by Micah ErenbergVIDEO: Colter Wall - Speed of the Sound of Loneliness (John Prine)MP3 Download

After a false start at making this happen, here's my conversation with singer-songwriter Micah Erenberg, on the line from the teeming metropolis of Matlock, Manitoba! We talked about the work he’s doing at the Secret Beach studio with other artists, how the pandemic has affected him (it hasn’t been so bad out in Matlock), his experiences touring Europe, comparing his two LPs, and much more! Don’t forget to check out some socially-distanced shows at the Park Theatre, who have slowly reopened after a long COVID-19 closure. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon. You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! See you on episode #500 (which is a regular episode, but lots of fun social media content will be happening to reflect the milestone)!

I had the chance to interview relentlessly positive singer-songwriter Sophie Stevens earlier this year. It was during an episode of Mom's House I hosted, where she was backing up Micah Erenberg on guitar and vocals. Unfortunately, at the time I didn't know anything about her own music, so I felt it was important we reconnect and do an exclusive Sophie episode (Sophiesclusive?) of the podcast. We hung out at a Robin's Donuts (of course) and talked about her work with Micah, developing her own sound and stepping into the scene as a solo artist, her weekly YouTube performances (an uplifting experience unto itself) and much, much more.

Musician, songwriter, performance artist and original Witchpolice co-host (2012-14) [Rob Crooks](http://www.robcrooks.com/) is back on the show to talk about his fantastic new release, *The Nothing From Which Nothing Comes*, which drops on [Disintegration Records](http://www.disintegration.ca/rob-crooks) May 26. Rob is also the star of the upcoming Mike Maryniuk film, [*The Goose*](http://vimeo.com/249316437), which has taken him to European film festivals and beyond. As noted in the disclaimer at the top of the show, this was recorded outdoors and there are a few moments where the wind gets in the way of the conversation, but overall, the integrity of the interview isn't lost. It's a really good discussion. This episode brought to you by the [release party for 'Quiet Dreams'](http://www.facebook.com/events/207263916702467/) the new album by local indie rockers (and past Witchpolice guests) Hearing Trees. The event, presented by our friends at the Park Theatre, takes place May 25 at the Good Will Social Club, with guests The Perms, Micah Erenberg and Sophie Stevens. The episode is also brought to you by [Fourth Quarter Records](http://www.fourthquarterrecords.com/), your home for quality local hip-hop, as well as merchandise like the glorious 3Peat hoodies you've been seeing everywhere lately.
Cellist and composer [Rob Knaggs](http://www.robknaggs.com/) may hail from Brisbane, Australia, but his real home is on the icy shores of northern Manitoba. Rob is a frequent visitor to Churchill, where his lifelong dream of performing his cinematic post-rock compositions for Arctic wildlife like belugas and polar bears can be fulfilled. Before Rob's next lengthy stay up north, he's playing one last Winnipeg show, [May 16 at the West End Cultural Centre](http://www.facebook.com/events/1499918810121015/) opening up for Tim Hecker. When her [Spacebutt](http://spacebutt.bandcamp.com/) bandmates went their separate ways earlier this year, Bailee Woods didn't miss a beat, and shifted her focus to a solo power-pop project. As [Housepanther](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/) (the person/the band/the legend), she released last month's excellent '[Club Soda Lows](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/album/club-soda-lows)', an album that marries anxiety and dread with massive pop hooks. We met up in a mall food court for a ridiculous conversation about all of that and more. Although I'm usually heard in audio-only form on this podcast, I've had a couple of opportunities to appear on-camera as part of the Mom's House YouTube show, which combines interviews with local musicians with exclusive live performances. For this episode of Witchpolice Radio, I returned the favour and interviewed the filmmakers and music fans behind Mom's House: Young Media. Throughout this episode, you'll hear live performances from past (and future) Mom's House guests, including Northern Lights Drive, Chenoa McKelvey, Velveteen and Micah Erenberg with Sophie Stevens. This episode is brought to you by Cabin Fever Burlesque, a presentation of the Winnipeg International Burlesque Festival, at the Park Theatre, Feb. 23.

Our original plan may have fallen through, but we still came out of Kerry, MB, with a solid podcast from Shine On Festival of Music and Art. Initially, we were supposed to be presenting a live podcast on the side stage -- similar to what we've done at the Handsome Daughter in the past -- on Saturday morning at the festival. For a variety of reasons -- everything from guests still being asleep to hornets besieging the stage -- that didn't quite work out. Instead, we got some excellent field recording-style interviews (literally in a field) with Shine On performers such as None the Wiser's Eli Matas, Micah Erenberg, and Roger Roger ...not to mention a backstage interview and rehearsal recording of Raine Hamilton and her string quartet.

Today a visit with Romi Mayes & Micah Erenberg, who stopped in to chat about Romi’s songwriter extravaganza coming up at The Park Theatre.
