By now you've probably heard about The Basketball Tournament that will be held in Columbus, Ohio, next month. The team out of Tampa, Florida, has a unique Auburn flavor. Former Tigers, Horace Spencer, Bryce Brown, Leron Smith and Desean Murray will be suiting up for the War Tampa team. Chuma Okeke, Marquis Daniels, Austin Wiley, Mustapha Heron, New Williams and KT Harrell are supporters of the team. War Tampa will face House of 'Pain, featuring Illinois alumni, in the first round. The winning team will take home $1,000,000. Horace Spencer, who played for Auburn's SEC Regular Season Champion and was part of the Final Four Team spent his first year of pro ball in Argentina. He passed up a chance to play overseas to play for War Tampa. Horace Spencer is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast, presented by Wickles Pickles.
St. John's has its third Big East win of the season and it's first non-DePaul conference win in nearly a year, after a home victory over Providence on Wednesday. How can the Johnnies use this win to build momentum down the season's home stretch? Plus, some news updates on Mustapha Heron, Shamorie Ponds and Ian Steere.
Kevin Connelly of WSJU radio stops by the show for the first time to help break down another 2-0 week for the Red Storm. We also get into the Mustapha Heron injury and what it potentially means for St. John's going forward this season.
Our latest episode features some quick interviews with current Red Storm leaders, Mustapha Heron and LJ Figueroa. Plus, some breakdown of the annual Big East Preseason Poll and where the Johnnies are ranked.
St. John's started the season hot but has stumbled down the stretch. Coach Chris Mullin relies on guard Shamorie Ponds, one of the top guards in the nation who averages 19 points and 5 assists. Mustapha Heron nearly went pro last year but had a solid year for Coach Mullin. Several other transfers play major roles and if they can tighten up their team defense, they could be trouble.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Episode 198 : We now are 27-12 in our last 39 hoops picks good for 69%. We have one Member VIP Member Pick on the Thursday Card. Can we hit the big 70% number to end the month?! My February VIP Package is FREE at BobBalfe.comNCAA Basketball6:30 PM ESTRotation #601-602Xavier +4 over St. JohnsThis is a big game for both teams. Xavier has looked really good the past few games. St Johns is a fun team to watch with their fast pace guard play. This is a matchup between two different styles. St. Johns has not had success against big teams. Xavier is a big team. The size mismatch will be very obvious in this game. Xavier has dominated this series as of late, but if there ever was a time for the Red Storm to get a win it would be now. Mustapha Heron will miss the game tonight for St. Johns. This means the Red Storm are going to have to shoot around 50% to win this game because there is little doubt they will lose the battle on the boards tonight. This should be another great game that goes to the wire, but it might be hard for St. Johns to not only win this game but win by more than 2 possessions. Xavier is short-handed tonight, but I don’t believe St. Johns will be able to get them into foul trouble. Take Xavier.
