For the latest, and last, of this year's Scots Whay Hae! Fringe Preview podcasts Ali spoke to musician and storyteller Kirsty Law about her show Scotland Unsung, which is going to be at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile from the 20th-24th August.Kirsty talks about the structure of the show, why she picked the songs she has, the happy accident of having an Edinburgh focus, the influence of Virginia Woolf's classic novel Orlando: A Biography, and why she considers The Scottish Storytelling Centre a home from home. The two also discuss the chequered and complex history of how Scottish ballads and songs have been regarded over the years (and why), and look at perceptions of Scottish culture more widely. It's always a pleasure to talk to Kirsty Law, and this conversation should whet your appetite for what sounds like a magical musical show, one which looks at the rich tradition of Scottish folk music, songs, and stories, with a fresh eye.For full details, including all the ways to listen, head over to scotswhayhae.com
Finally we get a big time fight card this weekend in Saudi Arabia and we're ready to go over the return of phenom heavyweight Moses Itauma, have some fight news discussion and more on the "Big Fight Weekend Preview Podcast."Host T.J. Rives is back with insider Dan Rafael to go over it all.First, the take a look at Satrurday's Riyadh Season DAZN PPV in Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaItauma has his first "named test" in Dillian Whyte, 10 rounds, heavyweights. Time to see what the youngster can do against a proven vet and will the hype continue after this one? In the co-feature Nick Ball takes on Sam Goodman for Ball's WBA featherweight title. The highly entertaining champ from Liverpool, England will battle the top contender from Australia in this one. Also there's talk of Filip Hrgovic vs. David Adeleye in a heavyweight matchup and American Raymond Ford battles countryman Abraham Nova in a junior lightweight showdown. Then, some newsThe Canelo-Crawford undercard was announced: jjunior middleweight prospects Callum Walsh and Fernando Vargas Jr. will fight the 10-round co-feature and WBC interim super middleweight titleholder Christian Mbilli, a potential 2026 opponent for Alvarez, defends against rising contender Lester Martinez. Also, Paramount+, just off this week's massive seven-year, $7.7 billion deal for all United States broadcast and streaming rights for UFC, is reportedly also the “front-runner” for Zuffa Boxing rights, per Front Office Sports. When I said I wanted more offseason storylines, Darren Waller unretiring is absolutely not what I meant
George Goncalves, Head of Macro Strategy in the Americas, reviewed the economic backdrop and market sentiment heading into another critical week in the US. George made a comprehensive case that the jobs data will likely continue to soften with the unemployment rate notably moving much higher, maybe starting with the June NFP data release. George concludes by recapping his monthly report and noting the irony that uncertainty is lifting on the policy front in DC, yet the consumer is likely tapped out, arguing for the Fed to cut soon. That said, George acknowledges everything has to go "perfect" for the Fed to cut in July. If the Fed doesn't cut in July, George expects them to cut in September & argues the longer they wait, the more they will have to cut (which opens the possibility of a 50bp cut in September - 2024 Deja Vu).

George Goncalves, Head of Macro Strategy in the Americas recapped an action-packed month full of uncertainty. Weak US fundamentals with the jobs data remaining mixed while inflation continues to come in softer suggesting that the Fed is behind the curve. George then previewed our expectations for the June FOMC meeting where he notes that the US data has deteriorated enough that the Fed may use this meeting to pivot towards a more dovish stance to gain flexibility to ease at future FOMC meetings.
