Sonia is back in Portland after a brief stop at a relay carnival like no other - The Penn Relays. We get some of the sights and sounds of the big event including Villanova's dramatic win in the men's mile relay and Marcus O'Sullivan's emotional post race interview. "The memories that are made last forever and they are magic" but at some point you have to come back to earth and get out to train again. That's the position many people find themselves in after a marathon. What better time to look the most basic part of how you run? The petrol you put in your engine is a simple way of looking at it but when it comes to food the choice is not as simple as petrol or diesel. In a world of experts everyone is an idiot. Sonia has a way of peeling back the nonsense and stripping away the silly stuff that might get in the way of your ability to make good choices at the fridge. Together we sift through some of the harder questions on this subject and some of the guiding principles she has espoused in her Irish Times articles over the years. Good fats, the traffic light system, the formula and the role of sugar in what a healthy life looks like, all come under Sonia's microscope in today's nutrition episode. We even have time to go around the Strava parishes to see which runners have stood out to Ireland's GOAT this week. As mentioned, you can find double size episodes each week and gain access to hundreds of superb ad free episodes and training tips from Sonia over on www.patreon.com/irishmanabroad - Patrons are the life blood of the show. Hunter Dickinson is down to four schools - Villanova, Maryland, Kansas, and Kentucky - and we discuss which school is the best fit for the former Michigan big man in the transfer portal. Can Kyle Neptune land a big fish in his second year with the Wildcats? Gradey Dick is a polarizing NBA draft prospect, his outside shooting is outstanding but will he be able to stay in games with his defense? And is he really worth a lottery pick? We close out the show discussing Grant Nelson entering the transfer portal, while remaining in the NBA draft process. Does it make sense for the North Dakota State big man to stay in school or try his hand at getting selected in the second round? Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon talks to Dr Cera Murtagh, Assistant Professor of Irish and Comparative Politics at Villanova, about her recent trip to Ireland as part of the presidential delegation with President Joe Biden, the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement and women's role in the Northern Ireland peace process. This conversation was part of the event Women as Peacemakers: 25 Years On co-hosted by the Irish American Business Chamber and Network, Villanova's Center for Irish Studies and Villanova's Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women's Leadership. Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon has dedicated her career to serving the most vulnerable — first as a lawyer and now in Congress. She was first sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives on November 13, 2018 following a special election, and currently represents Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District. Congresswoman Scanlon's legislative priorities include voting rights, access to justice, education, supporting economic growth for her region, common sense gun safety, and ending hunger. All of these priorities align with Congresswoman Scanlon's main goal as an elected official: protecting and improving the lives of America's children, families, veterans, and seniors. She currently serves on the House Committee on Rules, House Judiciary Committee, and serves as Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government. She also chairs the House Caucuses on Access to Legal Aid, Youth Mentoring, and Foster Youth. As a staunch believer that everyone is entitled to equal protection under the law, Congresswoman Scanlon previously worked as national pro bono counsel at a major U.S. law firm, where she directed and supervised over 600 lawyers across 15 offices in providing more than 50,000 hours of pro bono legal services annually to low-income clients and nonprofit organizations. Under her leadership, the pro bono program worked on critical issues, including voting rights, child advocacy, immigration, public benefits, and criminal justice reform. Before her election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Scanlon also served as an attorney at the Education Law Center, president of her local school board, and co-chair of the Voting Rights Task Force of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel. She is a graduate of Colgate University and University of Pennsylvania Law School. The Congresswoman and her husband, Mark, reside in Swarthmore and have three adult children.

Adama Sanogo and Azoulas Tubelis entered the 2023 NBA draft, how do those decisions impact our way-too-early top ten rankings for the 2023-24 college basketball season? And how does West Virginia's excellent transfer portal season, which includes adding Jesse Edwards, Kerr Kriisa, and possibly Caleb Grill, factor in? We close the show with more transfer portal updates, including Tamar Bates at Missouri, TJ Bamba at Villanova, rumors about Sahvir Wheeler joining UW and El Ellis at Arkansas, and finally we close discussing the troubling update on Memphis commit Mikey Williams, who was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Locked On Tar Heels - Daily Podcast On North Carolina Tar Heels Football & Basketball
North Carolina lost all their wings following last season (Leaky Black, Dontrez Styles, Puff Johnson, Tyler Nickel) and haven't been able to make much headway thus far in the transfer portal (Harrison Ingram, Dalton Knecht, etc.). With that in mind, Hubert Davis made an offer to 2023 SF Brady Dunlap, originally a Notre Dame commit before Mike Brey stepped away from the Irish. Dunlap is down to a fivesome of UNC, Nebraska, Penn State, Villanova, and St. John's. He will visit Chapel Hill on April 30. Carolina's spring practice for football was this past weekend. Drake Maye did what Drake Maye does. The transfer WRs Tez Walker and Nate McCollum appear that they'll slot in nicely for Josh Downs and Antoine Green. Coach Brown was pleased with the performance and chiefly that noone was hurt. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The UConn Huskies beat every non Big East opponent they played last season by 10 or more points, pointing to the strength of the Big East conference. Could they be even better next season, especially with Ed Cooley taking over at Georgetown, Rick Pitino coming in at St. John's, Kim English at Providence, and expected steps forward from Villanova and Seton Hall. Ryan Nembhard entering the transfer portal does cast some doubt on what might happen at Creighton next season, although the staff is reportedly trying to bring him back. Finally, we look at next year's Big 12 vs. Big East challenge and the key matchups set for those games in early December. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
This week, Golden State Warriors guard DONTE DIVINCENZO joins POINT FORWARD co-hosts ANDRE IGUODALA and EVAN TURNER for a revelatory and wide-ranging convo. Donte talks about growing up playing soccer in Delaware, what it's like to be a white NBA player and the dark place he went to following an injury early in his career. He also gets into why Steph Curry is “different,” how Steve Kerr gave him confidence, and guarding Damian Lillard. Plus, he dishes on how his life changed when he won Most Outstanding Player at the 2018 Final Four while leading Villanova to a championship, and what it was like playing with Brooklyn Nets wing Mikal Bridges and living with NY Knicks star Jalen Brunson in college. Before the guys welcome Donte on, though, they take some time to dig into one of the biggest NBA stories of the week: The new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Andre and Evan talk through some of the behind-the-scenes of how we got here, give their takes on the deal, and respond to some of the reactions it's gotten so far. Plus, Evan explains why he isn't afraid of alligators, and Andre delves into his excitement about this week's Masters Tournament. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The UConn Huskies are your 2023 national champions, but how likely are they to repeat? And where do we have them in our way-too-early top ten for next season? Hosts Andy and Isaac each discuss their top ten rankings for the upcoming season, which includes a shocking number of Big East teams and doesn't include the number one team in the NCAA Tournament, Alabama. Then we close the show discussing other teams we believe could be on the rise this season, including a Colorado team that added Eddie Lampkin and top prospect Cody Williams, and potential returns to glory for Georgetown, St. John's, and Villanova. UConn just capped the first-ever NCAA Tournament run where the champion won all six games by 13 or more points. They join 2000 Michigan State, 2001 Duke, 2009 UNC, & 2018 Villanova as the only five teams to win all six NCAA Tournament games by double digits. Danny Hurley's club, led by MOP Adam Sanogo was a great and worthy champion. It turns out we did have a great college basketball team. Despite not winning the championship, San Diego State isn't going anywhere. Brian Dutcher has built a great program that should continue to build on the past four years in which the Aztecs have won over 80% of their games. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
First Lady wants Iowa at the White House, too. Jalen Carter only working out for top 10 teams U-Conn’s 5th title It was one of the most dominating NCAA Tournament performances ever… -.U-Conn flicked away San Diego State 76-59 last night in a game that was decided in the middle of the first half. Huskies win 5th title since 1999, most in that 24 year span…(UNC, 3; Duke, 3: Fla, 2: Kansas, 2; Villanova, 2; B1G, 1). -Aztecs made their first 3 shots and 4 of their first 5. -Scoreless for 6:10, smattering of free throws here and there. -Lamar Butler’s 3 at 3:51 was the first field goal in 12:43! -It was only the SDSU defense that allowed them any hope by halftime. -Connecticut won this game on the defensive end. At least that’s what happened in the 1st half. SDSU could not score over Adama Sonogo, Donovan Clingan or Alex Caraban. -Worth noting….Tristen Newton was a 3-year player at ECU before transferring to U-Conn…. -Naheim Alleyene played at VT before moving to U-Conn… -They haven’t been as consistent as the others in that category, but….5 for 5 in title games and 5 wins in 9 trips to the second weekend…they have made the most of their chances. So, the first lady, Jill Biden said something after the LSU win over Iowa that I am not at all a fan of… -LSU is going to the White House – at least they’ll be invited to go. -The First Lady, however wants Iowa to also come to the white house – and I’m not sure why. -Caitlin Clark is great. She was probably the best player in March regardless of gender. -But, White House trips are for championship teams (participation trophy?) -Kinda like when the Colts hung a banner at Lucas Oil field for making the AFC Championship Game. Remember “AFC Finalist”. Canes host the Senators tonight at PNC Arena with a chance to potentially all but end the Metropolitan Division race… -Devils host the Penguins
Locked On Tar Heels - Daily Podcast On North Carolina Tar Heels Football & Basketball
Michigan big man Hunter Dickinson entered the transfer portal over the weekend and will be one of the most sought after players this offseason. He scored 18.5 points this past season, stands 7'1, would provide rim protection, oh and by the way: knocks down 3s at a career 36% clip including 42.1% last season. Host Isaac Schade lays out reasons he would and would not fit with Carolina, and in particular, Armando Bacot in the frontcourt. Could he form another big three with Bacot and RJ Davis? What would it mean for Jalen Washington's role? The Tar Heels need front court help, and this would provide that in a massive way. Ian Jackson and Elliot Cadeau both provided some updates in their reclassification rumors over the weekend. Both still project to stay in 2024 although are doing things and having conversations that would allow the move to happen if decided upon. The rumor mill was swirling about Villanova's Justin Moore to UNC, but it was not to be as the Wildcat will stay home for his 5th and final season. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Final Four Is Not On The Schedule - A Michigan State Basketball Podcast.
March 29, 2023: The 2022-23 MSU men's basketball season was a strange one in that it was marked by consistently inconsistent play. After a fast and very promising start against top rated Gonzaga, Kentucky, and Villanova, the injury bug hit MSU as Jaden Akins was shut down a second time (he had foot surgery before the start of the season) and Malik Hall suffered the same stress reaction injury in his foot which sidelined him for a number of weeks. MSU limped through the non-conference schedule with a loss to Alabama and wins over Oregon and Portland in the PK85 before getting destroyed in South Bend on what we can only assume were tired legs. Big Ten play did not start out well as Michigan State fell on their home opener to Northwestern who turned out to be a pretty good team. In what became one very impressive trait for the team, they bounced back and won a road game against Penn State as they showed the ability to repeatedly get off the mat whenever they got knocked down. Big Ten play resumed after a few easy home non-conference games with a decent start until Malik Hall reinjured his foot and was forced to miss some time again. By this time, Akins had recovered and was starting to play more but the Spartans were playing good defense but struggling to score. It wasn't until the end of the season before they got the offense humming just in time for the post season play. Unfortunately, they were unable to carry that over into the Big Ten Tournament where they continued playing the same leaky defense as at the end of the regular season leading to a loss in the opening round to Ohio State. Fortunately, MSU put it together and played their best basketball of the season in the NCAA tournament and as a 7 seed defeated a tough 10 seed USC Trojans. They beat USC and second round opponent, Marquette, despite their worst 3 point shooting performances of the year on the backs of good defense and attacking the rim. Then, in the Sweet 16 the Spartans fell in overtime to Kansas State in one of the most entertaining games of the tournament. Are you looking for Spartan gear? There's only one place to go to get your MSU T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts — Nudge Printing. Nudge is owned and operated by Gabe and Brittany, two MSU alums. The business is operated out of Michigan and screen prints super high quality products. They also have a large assortment of apparel for other schools as well as stickers for your wall, car, or computer. You can also buy our merchandise to sport around town where all the sales proceeds go to support the show. If you have a home in Michigan you know the importance of clearing water efficiently away from your home off the roof. Unfortunately, the outdoor beauty of Michigan means you have to deal with leaves and debris that pile up in your gutters. Sometimes, those gutters also can't keep up with the rain or leave puddles by your foundation. If you live in the Grand Rapids area (Muskegon to Saugatuck to Rockford to Lowell) contact Kurt Stauffer at the Brothers that Just Do Gutters. They are real professionals who will clean, repair, or replace your gutters and protect your home. Mention ‘final four' to Kurt and get 10% off your service. Learn more about your ad choices.
