Jerry's update included "Boomstradamus" predicting Trent Grisham's hamstring injury for the Yankees, who lost to Toronto, with Anthony Volpe addressing his ill-advised throws. The hour concluded with Gio recounting losing power in a recent storm, forcing his family and dogs into one bed, and a discussion about sports documentaries spurred by a caller's wish for a Boomer documentary. Hour 2 Both the Mets and Yankees experienced a "June swoon" leading up to July 1st, with the Mets particularly needing to snap out of their slump. Other topics included the importance of the NFL quarterback position, a Yankees loss in Toronto, NBA free agency moves, a Jerry Jones/Cowboys docuseries trailer, and the details behind Daniel Jones' massive deal with the Giants. The hour concluded with a discussion about a girl falling off a Disney cruise, sparking questions about the incident and shark sightings, and a caller's query about who Boomer would save at WFAN. Hour 3 The hour covered a range of sports topics, starting with Arch Manning's offseason quarterback studies and potential coaching changes for the Steelers and Giants involving Daboll and Tomlin, alongside concerns about NIL's impact on college sports. NBA free agency moves and Shane Battier's candid reflections on his retirement struggles were also discussed, as was Jessica Pegula's surprising upset at Wimbledon. The segment ended with Russell Wilson's "fake-sounding" birthday message to WFAN and a rapid shift from the MLB All-Star Game to NHL contracts. Hour 4 As NBA free agency begins, the Knicks lack a coach. Boomer notes league-wide animosity towards the team, while Gio suggests fans would embrace LeBron joining the Knicks with Mike Brown coaching. Jerry delivers his last update after Gio's golf dilemma: walk or cart when playing a "big fella"? The Moment of The Day: "Celine Dion drinks the blood of children." The Her Hoop Stats Podcast: WNBA & Women’s College Basketball
In this episode, Jamie Steyer Johnson and Brittany Carper recap the night that was in the WNBA. Sparks and Mystics use stability and smart plays to get big wins in Indiana and Las Vegas, respectively. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The hour began with baseball, noting the Yankees' series against the A's and the Mets' games against the Braves and Pirates. They discussed "triple digit sizzlers" (100+ mph pitches) and the existence of Sizzler restaurants. A caller raised concerns about the Knicks' lack of a head coach. Jerry's update highlighted Mets and Yankees wins, with Juan Soto hitting two homers. Two Rutgers players were drafted in the NBA, and Morehead State will honor Phil Simms. The hour concluded with a discussion about Counting Crows' tour and pre-show setlist viewing.
Hour 1 We started the show with the NBA draft which was last night and how the Knicks still don't have a head coach. They better have one soon as we head into free agency. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the NBA draft. ESPN announced that Portland drafted ‘Colin Cowherd' and also misidentified Cooper Flagg twice. Boomer asked if there was Buzz, or No Buzz, with the Nets. The Mets finally beat the Braves as Juan Soto hit 2 HRs. Jerry just called Jazz Chisholm ‘Jizzm'. In the final segment of the hour, Sydney Esiason says farewell to ‘WAG Life' now that Matt Martin has retired. Hour 2 Reports indicate NFL owners colluded in 2022 to limit player guarantees, using emails about Kyler Murray and Justin Herbert, a fact the NFLPA allegedly withheld from players. In sports, the Yankees beat the Reds (Dominguez 4-for-5), and the Mets topped the Braves with Jeff McNeil's great catch and Juan Soto's two homers. Cooper Flagg was the NBA's top draft pick. Other topics included an impaled lifeguard, George Kittle on the Vasper bike, and a humorous anecdote about former colleague Mark Chernoff. Hour 3 The hour began with baseball, noting the Yankees' series against the A's and the Mets' games against the Braves and Pirates. Hour 4 The NBA draft saw the Nets not use their five picks to move up, while the Knicks continued their head coach search. Nick Van Exel blamed injuries on low-top sneakers. The Yankees avoided a sweep, the Mets beat the Braves (Soto 2 HRs), and a hurdler had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. ESPN mistakenly said the Trailblazers drafted "Colin Cowherd." The "Moment of the Day" was an NBA trade involving Jeanie Buss's panties. The show ended discussing the Knicks' coaching search and their urgent championship window.
Amidst a heatwave, the Mets face a "Defcon 5" losing streak, despite a favorable pitching matchup. Joe Benigno scored his fourth hole-in-one. Sean Manaea's rehab is set back by loose bodies in his arm. The Yankees also lost, with Jazz Chisholm ejected. Chase Burns dominated his MLB debut. The NBA draft is tonight, with two potential top-5 Rutgers picks. Aaron Rodgers plans a private retirement. Super tall intern Zach's picture caused a social media stir.
Hour 1 Boomer is back, and both the Yankees and Mets are struggling, with the Mets blowing leads and the Yankees losing in extra innings. The Mets also have a new injury concern with pitcher Sean Manaea's elbow. In NBA news, Kristaps Porzingis was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, and the Knicks have no coach or pick for tonight's draft. The show also covered the Thunder's championship parade and Matt Martin's retirement from the Islanders to join their front office. Hour 2 The Knicks are inactive while Kristaps Porzingis is traded to the Atlanta Hawks. Ahead of tonight's NBA Draft, the Nets have five first-round picks, and two Rutgers players are projected to be top-five selections. In baseball, the Mets' bullpen continues to struggle, blowing a 3-0 lead, while pitcher Sean Manaea has a setback with an elbow injury. The Yankees also lost in extra innings, and a debate over a potential no-hitter sparked a dispute between Shaun Morash and Mike Francesa. The hour ended with a mention of Aaron Rodgers' interview on his private life and a Golf.com video about Gio. Hour 3 Today is expected to be the last day of the heat wave. The Mets' losing streak continued with a defeat by the Braves, and pitcher Sean Manaea suffered a rehab setback due to loose bodies in his arm. The Yankees also lost to the Reds with Chase Burns' impressive MLB debut against them. Tonight is the NBA Draft, with two Rutgers players projected as top-five picks. Aaron Rodgers stated he plans to completely withdraw from the public eye upon retirement. The show also featured discussion on Defcon levels, Joe Benigno's fourth hole-in-one, and super tall intern Zach. Hour 4 Gio detailed Netflix's "Poop Cruise" documentary. Both the Yankees and Mets are on losing streaks, with the Yankees 1-6 in extra innings and the Mets' bullpen continuing to struggle, contributing to their recent defeat by the Braves. Mets pitcher Sean Manaea also had a setback with loose bodies in his arm. A debate arose over Rebecca Lobo's "that's what makes America great" comment. Then Boomer ate a hamburger.
