C-Lo with the sounds of Team USA beating the Dominican Republic and Aaron Judge who talked about the atmosphere being bigger and better than the World Series. We heard from Rick Pitino after winning the Big East. Eddie Scozzare got a mention on an ESPN college hoops broadcast.
With Gio stuck in Florida, Boomer and Jerry open the show by breaking down Team USA's World Baseball Classic victory over the Dominican Republic and St. John's Big East title win over UConn. C-Lo joins for his first update featuring Roman Anthony's home run, Aaron Judge's high praise for the WBC atmosphere, and Friday's NCAA tournament slate for the local teams. Finally, Boomer recounts a rough flight home in a middle seat fueled by questionable canned wine.
With Gio stuck in Florida, Boomer and Jerry open the show covering Team USA's WBC victory and St. John's Big East title before Boomer recounts a miserable flight fueled by canned wine. They pivot to the Jets' trade for Geno Smith and the Knicks' comeback win over the Warriors, while C-Lo highlights Aaron Judge's tournament praise and Tommy Lugauer's heated clash with a caller. The discussion continues with the Knicks' playoff outlook, the NBA's season length, and Rick Pitino's reaction to St. John's NCAA seeding. Finally, the guys react to Craig Carton calling Boomer a “compiler,” break down Daniel Jones' big contract, and close with the latest on Gio's airport ordeal.
Boomer & Jerry today and they start the show with the WBC and Team USA past the Dominican Republic and into the final game. Then it's on to the Red Storm stomping on the Huskies.
A packed show with lots of different stuff today. We started with Geno Smith hyped to be playing with the Jets or anywhere. How will the Jets fare this year? C-Lo spends the show bouncing around from Mike Francesa's prediction that Arch Manning will be a Jet to the Wink v. Woody argument. Plus, Mark DeRosa keeps trying to explain as does Bam about his 83-point game, a Red Storm win and a Rutgers loss, and Kyler Murray off to the Vikings. Jerry and Willie also talk partying NFL players, the popularity of the WBC outside the US, and Bryce Huff's odd retirement. Lots of other stuff too both amusing and interesting.
C-Lo's got audio from that St. John's Red Storm win. Julio Rodriguez would rather win the WBC than the World Series. Also, Bam Adebayo and Eric Spoelstra defend Bam's 83-point game. Plus, a Willie's random thoughts Moment of the Day.
Loads of different stuff this hour starting with the Mets retiring Carlos Beltran's number, followed by Bryce Huff's surprise (and surprising) retirement announcement. C-Lo is in with a Red Storm win and Bam Adebayo's defense of his 83-point game. C-Lo covers all the bases and gets to a Moment of the Day featuring Willie's random thoughts. Then we get serious with the insanity of the Darron Lee story. Plus, we end on a good note as an influencer raised enough money so a DoorDash driver could retire.
St. John's has done it. A tough fought game in Newark at the Prudential Center, the Red Storm would prevail 72-65 to clinch at least a share of the Big East Title as well as the #1 Seed in the Big East Tournament. Led by Zuby Ejiofor as well as clutch play from Ruben Prey, Dylan Darling, and others, the Johnnies capped off a 25-6 regular season with their 18th win in Big East play. St. John's has been battle tested and they knew they would have a rock fight on their hands. Why would they want it to come easy, as St. John's would claw and fight for greatness. An incredible roller coaster of a season has ended on a high note!Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

The show starts with news that the Cards are releasing Kyler Murray and whether that would make him a good fit for the Jets. The big local news is the Knicks beating the Raptors in Toronto and St John's win over Georgetown - which Rick Pitino had criticism for. Other news from the Knicks features former coach David Fizdale's remark about his team trying to tank it. We also talk NFL Combine popularity, the buzz around the World Baseball Classic and the World Cup, plus a word from Steve Somers on his hernia surgery. We pepper it with the usual yucks about famous "Dicks", Chris Carlin's almost exit from X, and Cam Newton's views on marriage. Lots more as well.
Callers debate on whether to tip plumbers and electricians before a preview of upcoming games for St. John's and the Knicks. C-Lo returns with the Rangers' OT loss to the Flyers, followed by the Devils' loss in Pittsburgh. Also, Connor McDavid's reaction to recent championship frustrations, Gerrit Cole surprised at his fastball speed, leading into the Moment of the Day: an AI video from the White House that has Boomer and Eddie clashing, plus, a four-year-old clip of Al discussing his dog's health. We end with thoughts on Giancarlo Stanton's elbow injury, and a caller's endorsement of Ohio State's Sonny Styles for the Jets.
It was as ugly as could be as the #15 ranked St. John's Red Storm saw their 13 game winning streak snapped in Hartford. Anemic is a nice way to describe the offense from the reigning Big East Champions, as the #6 UConn Huskies took it to them from the start. St. John's was no where to be found as their game did not travel with them to Connecticut. St. John's suffers one of the most shocking losses in program history, falling 72–40 to UConn in a complete offensive collapse. The Red Storm shot just 19% from the field (11-for-56), missed their final 24 shots, and didn't score a single field goal for the final 17+ minutes. It is officially the lowest-scoring game ever by a Rick Pitino coached team and the worst loss to UConn in school history.

St. John's extended it's winning streak to 11 with a 79-69 win over Providence to avenge their only conference loss of the season. But most people will not be talking about the game but instead the fracas that took place short after halftime. Six players were ejected after Duncan Powell's dirty foul on Bryce Hopkins caused an all-out brawl. With a short bench and in a hostile environment, St. John's would not be denied as Dylan Darling scored 18 of his 23 points in the 2nd half to help lead St. John's to victory. The Red Storm have improved to 20-5, 13-1.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb

Pure guts. That's what St. John's showed in the 2nd half inside Madison Square Garden as they stormed back from down 15 points to beat Seton Hall 65-60. It was shades of last year, with a toughness on displayed we didn't see in the first half, and most of the season. It was a win and a performance that should have the Red Storm and it's fans feeling great as they proved they can win by digging their feet in and clawing their opponent. Make it four wins in a row for St. John's as they improve to 6-1 to start Big East play following an 86-79 win against Villanova. A trip to the Main Line proved to be friendly confines for St. John's who have now won four of their six conference games on the road. They led by as many as 17 thanks to the best games of the season by Bryce Hopkins and Ian Jackson. Moments that previously caused St. John's to stumble, were answered by big shots and good defense. St. John's has seemingly turned a corner since that Providence loss, as they have a ton of momentum behind them.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
The Red Storm are road warriors as they've gotten their third road conference win of the season knocking off the Creighton Blue Jays at home 90-73. Lefty has come on strong the last two games, earning a spot in the rotation and making the most of his opportunities, leading the Johnnies with 17 points in this game. The Red Storm dominated this game, which featured their best offensive half of the season and seemingly looks like the rotations are coming into focus. A big week was a success for Rick Pitino's squad earning two much needed quad 1 road wins.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
That's more like it. A dominant second half played out in the complete opposite way of the last game as St. John's used their defense to get a much needed road win. Thanks to Lefteris Liotopoulos and Ruben Prey plus Bryce Hopkins, the Red Storm dominated Butler and followed the formula that worked so well last year. St. John's relied on the three main returnees to win this game, as well as great connection on defense using the press and forcing 21 Butler turnovers. Picking up a much needed Quad 1 win, St. John's will look to take this momentum to Omaha as they will look to make it a road warrior week against Creighton.Follow the podcast on Twitter:@EyeonStormPod = Eye on the Storm Podcast#sjubb
Shades of the Auburn game in Las Vegas, it was another horrific second half where St. John's looked completely lost. Scoring would be nearly impossible for St. John's as a big Kentucky team got everything they were looking for. The Red Storm could only rely on the free throw line to score, as their last chance for a resume building win evaporated in Catlanta. Now St. John's must wear the title of being a major disappointment through 11 games of the season.Zach Braziller of the New York Post and Kevin Connelly of StormThePaint.com join the podcast to give their takes from being in Atlanta as the worst case imaginable for St. John's when making a schedule like this has come to fruition. St. John's opened conference play on Tuesday night in Queens with a 13 point win over DePaul. It was the Dylan Darling show as his 17 points powered St. John's to their first win in conference play. Backing that up was stellar defense for a third straight game, holding opponents to just 62 points per game. The Iona game was full of storylines, from Rick Pitino coaching his former team to Ian Jackson's haircut which led to much improved play as he gets the nod at starting PG. The Red Storm have rattled off three straight wins, as they build confidence for a huge game against Kentucky on 12/20.Kevin Connelly of Storm the Paint joins the show for the first half to discuss the wins over Iona and DePaul..(27:00) then we welcome on the voice of Kentucky Sports Radio, Matt Jones to preview the game against Kentucky. The Red Storm came to Las Vegas with hopes of washing out the taste of the Alabama loss from their collective mouths. Match-ups with #15 Iowa State ended in a brutal one point loss. They bounced back against a solid Baylor team with a good win. And just as hope began to rise, the Red Storm blew an 11 point lead and dropped another in Sin City to #21 Auburn. BT and Sal dive into the state of St. John's basketball following a tough loss to Iowa State in the stacked Vegas tournament. Tierney expresses his frustration, stating the team is having a "rough time finding their identity" and is filled with "puppies" who lack the "dog" mentality of last year's squad. He questions whether point guard Dylan Darling is a full-time solution and notes that star forwards Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins seem to be playing in each other's way. The hosts lament the loss of the old Big East rivalries (like St. John's vs. Syracuse) due to the "unforgivable" nature of conference realignment. The segment wraps up by looking ahead to the Johnnies' pivotal matchup against Baylor, demanding a bounce-back performance.

The Garden was rocking, the Johnnies had the lead in the second half, but the trio of Labaron Philon, Aden Holloway and Latrell Wrightsell Jr were too much for St. John's to withstand. The Red Storm offense scored 96 points, even with a low volume and poor three point output, but it's the defense that left many fans scratching their heads. Powered by Zuby Ejiofor's All-American like 27 points and 10 rebound performance it took until the second half for the guards to get going. Alabama got great product from Taylor Bol Bowen to supplement the firepower from the guards at every turn. So St. John's loses their first big game of the season, one of potentially six big non conference games, we discuss what needs to improve quickly if this team is to make noise later this season.
