Our dialogue with Paul Stack resumes on DevSecOps Talks, almost two years after our initial podcast about his work on Pulumi (episode 25). As a warm-up, we talk about what prompted his move from Pulumi and his take on Open Terraform drama. The main topic of the episode is Paul's current focus, System Initiative; we probe into its purpose, the progress so far, and the promise it holds for redefining how we think of doing Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps workflows in general.   Connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter (see info at https://devsecops.fm/about/). This time we are joined by Paul Stack (@stack72, Pulumi developer, former Terraform developer) and podcast friend Jacob Lärfors to talk about - what is Pulumi is? - understand the difference between Pulumi vs. Terraform (and if we should compare them at all) - What is hard about Pulumi? - What people ask the most? What are the common confusions? - Cross-language infra libraries? How is it even possible?! - Is there a possibility of a supply chain attack via Pulumi library? Connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter https://devsecops.fm/about/ and tell us about your questions, and we will answer them in the show. This week’s episode serves as a strong contradiction to conventional wisdom: meeting your heroes can be an amazing thing. In No. 60, Colin is joined by none other than Paul Stack, Operations Director of Marco Beverage Systems and current SCAE President, to reminisce about the filter coffee revolution, chat about Paul’s past life as an industrial designer, query “interesting human stuff”, and anticipate the results of SCAA’s vote on SCAA/SCAE Unification to be released August 10. They’ve managed to pack an incredible amount of thought-provoking discussion into sixty minutes alongside some, ehm, extra-special descriptions making this one of those podcast episodes you really just shouldn’t miss.   www.nuovasimonelli.it/en/

What does it mean to build for the cloud? While at NDC in Oslo, Carl and Richard chatted with Paul Stack about thinking about architecture specific for the cloud - not necessarily Azure or AWS, but the overall concepts of what it means to be in the cloud. It starts with the idea of everything you build being virtual and portable, whether than be VMs or containers. But there's also so-called 'server-less' designs as well, where your software runs on a platform in the cloud. If you could get rid of the need to patch operating systems, wouldn't you? Paul also talks about the smaller cloud providers and some of the cool stuff available there as well - there are lots of choices!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/net-rocks/donations

As we draw closer to our November events, we’re jumping back in time to revisit some of our favourite talks from the early days of Tamper Tantrum. This week, we want to share a talk that is still as fresh and relevant as it was when it was first delivered at the inaugural Tamper Tantrum Live from the bowels of the Twisted Pepper: Paul Stack’s “Innovation is Stupid”. Paul’s talk, superbly-delivered despite some technological teething issues, is a paradigm-shifting look at how we currently innovate, why we’re doing it wrong, and what we can do to bring play time (and thus worthwhile exploration) back to our weekly work. #evenredheads

Paul Stack is an Audio Marketing Secrets student who wanted to grill me on the finer points of creating audios, and I have to admit I was a little surprised. I thought I’d been asked every question about audio information products that could possibly be asked. But Paul came up with some new ones. By having me give advice to myself as if I were starting all over again, Paul essentially forced me to look at how I’ve improved not only my interviewing style over the years but also my efficiency with time and money management. And I share all of these lesser-known secrets in this interview. This is an exclusive interview from Michael Senoff at www.hardtofindseminars.com.
