Simon Quick, CEO and Director of Canadian Copper (CSE: CCI), joins me for a comprehensive introduction to their 3 key projects: Murray Brook, Murray Brook West, and the past-producing Caribou Mine and Plant in the Bathurst Camp of New Brunswick, Canada.   We start off having Simon unpack how these 3 projects were acquired over the last few years and assembled together into the larger land package and overall project today.  He points out the many infrastructure advantages to being on crown land, with good access, and with a permitted prior-producing mine in place.   Next Simon outlines the ongoing development and derisking work at the flagship Murray Brook Project.   This hosts a polymetallic VMS deposit of copper, zinc, lead, and silver, and a resource of 21 million tonnes @ 1.42% CuEq; which is 98% in the measured & indicated category.  There are metallurgical tests underway as well as engineering work based on the initial PEA, and the expansion of the team as these workstreams build towards a Feasibility Study next year.      The Preliminary Economic Assessment, envisions a 13 year mine life, averaging 30 M lbs CuEq or 98 M lbs ZnEq production per year, at 3,300 tpd daily throughput.   There is an estimated capex of C$64Million; with a NPV (7%) of C$169Million, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 36%, and a 2 year payback period.   Next we shifted over to the exploration upside across their land package at Murray Brook West, and also east of the Murray Brook main area.   Additionally, there are roughly 4 million tonnes of polymetallic zinc, silver, and lead resources delineated at the Caribou Mine, that the company is buying out of receivership.   The prior producer, Trevali Mining, produced 700million lbs of zinc, lead, and silver up until Q2, 2022.   The mine is in good condition, and permitted to process up to 3,000 tpd.   If you have any questions for Simon regarding Canadian Copper, then please email those into me at Shad@kereport.com.   Click here to follow the latest news from Canadian Copper   For more market commentary & interview summaries, subscribe to our Substacks:   The KE Report: https://kereport.substack.com/   Shad's resource market commentary: https://excelsiorprosperity.substack.com/       Investment disclaimer: This content is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice, an offer, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security. Interview with Trey Wasser, CEO of Dryden Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/dryden-gold-tsxvdry-centerra-backed-explorer-targets-district-scale-gold-in-ontario-8109Recording date: 17th November 2025Dryden Gold Corp (TSXV: DRY) has emerged as a compelling strategic acquisition target in Ontario's gold sector following successful execution of its 2025 exploration program and explicit endorsement from major mining company partners. The company controls 70,000 hectares in northwest Ontario hosting multiple high-grade gold discoveries across four distinct mineralization types, with fully funded drilling planned for 2026 under management explicitly targeting a Great Bear Resources-style exit. The investment thesis centers on systematic district-scale exploration designed to attract strategic buyers rather than pursue standalone mine development. Recent drilling fundamentally reshaped the geological understanding at the Gold Rock target area, revealing nine interconnected high-grade structures within a 300-meter span—including intercepts of 300 grams per ton over 3.9 meters and 55 grams per ton over 3.5 meters—connected by continuous one gram per ton mineralization. This discovery transformed what appeared to be isolated veins into an integrated system where lower-grade material provides economic continuity while high-grade shoots create exploration upside.Strategic validation provides perhaps the most compelling near-term catalyst. Centerra Gold invested in 2024 and has explicitly directed management to continue district-scale exploration rather than focus exclusively on infill drilling at known high-grade zones. Alamos Gold maintains similar engagement, while additional confidentiality agreements with unnamed major and mid-tier mining companies indicate active corporate interest. These sophisticated mining companies endorse the systematic approach because it generates the comprehensive geological understanding and high-quality data they require for acquisition decisions. The technical team significantly de-risks execution. President Maura Kolb led the Red Lake mine exploration team for five years, managing 90 personnel and a $50 million annual budget while reducing finding costs from $500 to $50 per ounce. Her major-mine experience directly informs Dryden's exploration protocols including oriented core drilling, 100% core assaying, and property-wide geochemical surveys—practices that distinguish systematic explorers from promotion-focused juniors. Kolb's team discovered the hanging wall structures specifically because they assayed all rock types rather than only visible quartz veins. The property's geological diversity creates multiple value pathways. Beyond the Archean lode gold system at Gold Rock—which Kolb compares directly to Red Lake geology—the company has confirmed intrusive-related mineralization at Sherridon, granite diorite-hosted stockwork at Hyndman analogous to NexGold's 1.5-million-ounce Goliath Gold project, and VMS-style mineralization elsewhere. CEO Trey Wasser characterizes this as a "Timmins-like camp" where exceptional gold endowment manifests across multiple geological settings, creating optionality for project-specific joint ventures or staged transactions.Infrastructure advantages reduce development risk and enhance acquisition appeal. Highway 502 provides direct access from Sherridon through Gold Rock to the town of Dryden, while the Trans-Canada Highway accesses Hyndman. Both regional projects have been clear-cut for logging, creating existing access roads. The northwest Ontario location provides political stability, established mining regulations, available contractors and skilled labor, and proximity to operating mines including Red Lake—attributes that command premium valuations as mining companies reassess exposure to jurisdictions with increasing political risk.Dryden enters 2026 fully funded from August 2025 financing to complete 20,000-25,000 meters of drilling, with approximately 50% dedicated to Gold Rock expansion and the remainder advancing multiple district targets. At $4,000 gold, the company offers leveraged exposure to exploration success, strategic transaction, or both, backed by partner validation and systematic technical approach designed specifically for strategic buyer requirements.View Dryden Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/dryden-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Coffee with Samso: OD6 Metals Limited — An Aspiring Australian Clay REE Story - Better Position Second Time Around

Coffee with Samso

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 8, 2025 34:23

Introduction In this episode of Coffee with Samso, we reconnect with Brett Hazelden, Managing Director of OD6 Metals, to explore how the company is navigating two of the most intriguing thematic opportunities in the market today — rare earth elements (REEs) and copper. OD6 was first introduced to the Samso audience in a very different market — rare earth sentiment was hot, clay-hosted projects were flooding the ASX, and recovery pathways were still largely unproven. Fast-forward to 2025, and the game has changed. The company's flagship Splinter Rock project in Western Australia is now underpinned by validated heap leach metallurgy, enhanced nano-filtration, and a robust understanding of orebody consistency — ticking the key boxes that separate projects with longevity from the fleeting momentum plays. At the same time, OD6 is quietly advancing a highly prospective copper VMS project at Gulf Creek in New South Wales, where historical high grades and recent drilling suggest potential for a standalone, company-making discovery. This conversation explores both sides of the OD6 story — a smarter REE flow sheet, and the search for a modern VMS discovery in an overlooked district. Rare Earths at Splinter Rock – Smarter Processing, Lower Capex, Better Product ✔ Heap Leach Breakthrough What started as a "just in case" test alongside traditional tank leach flowsheets has emerged as a breakthrough: heap leaching not only works — it offers higher recoveries, lower reagent use, and slashes capex. 75–80% recoveries from column testwork Removes the need for tanks, filters, tailings dams Simplifies the flowsheet and reduces environmental impact "Everyone expected heap leach to fail with clays. Instead, we found it performs better — less equipment, cheaper, and scalable." – Brett Hazelden ✔ Nanofiltration: A Technical Edge In August 2025, OD6 announced it had successfully trialled nanofiltration on its leach solutions — a key value unlock: Cuts acid use by 80–85% through recycling Reduces downstream plant size by 70% Enhances product purity and ESG credentials Nanofiltration acts like a REE-specific desalination process — separating heavier rare earths from light elements and allowing a high-quality EM-rich product to be recovered with minimal waste. ✔ Orebody Confidence – Consistency at Depth OD6's testwork has focused on the Inside Centre area of Splinter Rock: 120Mt @ ~1600ppm TREO (from a broader 680Mt JORC) Broad, flat geometry with 70–80m of mineralised clays Simple stratigraphy with consistent metallurgy Upcoming bulk column testing with ANSTO is validating how the ore performs across depth zones — the top 40m vs. the bottom 40m — to ensure no surprises in full-scale operations. OD6's Advantage in the Rare Earth Game OD6's rare earth mineralogy is distinct from hard rock monazite or apatite systems, allowing for ambient temperature leaching. Other projects require aggressive cracking at high temperatures — expensive and carbon-intensive. OD6's approach works at room temperature, using simpler, cheaper reagents. "You can't just apply heap leach to any rare earth project. Ours works because of our unique mineralogy — that gives us a genuine technical edge." Strategic Thinking: Beyond China, Beyond Hype OD6 is focused on developing a high-purity, globally marketable rare earth carbonate, and potentially refining it further into selective oxides (e.g., NdPr oxide). While the REE market has been volatile, OD6's strategy is focused on real offtake, real product, and long-term survivability: No reliance on inflated spot prices or unsustainable government support No hype-driven LOIs with no substance Clear cost pathway: ~USD $300M capex vs $1.2B for many peers "There's a lot of noise in rare earths, but not many with a product that works. We're now one of the few still standing, with a technically sound, economic pathway." Gulf Creek VMS Copper Project – A Sleeping Giant? While rare earths remain the flagship, the Gulf Creek Copper Project in NSW could be the catalyst that delivers near-term excitement. Historic production (1896–1912) reported grades of 2–12% Cu Drilling confirms mineralisation continues below the old mine 4.6% Cu intercepts in recent programs VMS-style system with multiple repeat structures mapped Strong magnetic signatures tied to known mineralisation OD6 is currently drilling new targets — Big Bend, West Limmon, Northwest — that exhibit geophysical and geological similarities to the main Gulf Creek lode. "VMS is a small company's holy grail. High grade, modest tonnage, fast capex. Just look at what DeGrussa did for Sandfire." With solid land access, supportive local communities, and compelling historic grades, Gulf Creek could evolve into a separate copper value centre — and even warrant a spin-out if the results continue to deliver. Samso Concluding Comments OD6 Metals today is not the company it was in 2022. This is now a business with: A technically proven REE flow sheet A heap leach process that defies conventional wisdom Clear understanding of mineralogy, product quality, and economic constraints And now, a copper discovery story brewing quietly in NSW. In many ways, OD6 is a case study in how to advance a resource project the right way — quietly, methodically, and with the long game in mind. It's also one of the few juniors with genuine dual-commodity upside — a defensive REE platform and a high-grade VMS copper wild card. For investors tired of rock chip hype and non-binding fluff, OD6 is a rare earths company with a product that works — and a copper discovery that could change the narrative altogether. Magna Terra Minerals (CVE:MTT) President and CEO Lew Lawrick talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about recent developments across the company's project portfolio. Lawrick detailed significant progress at the Humber Copper-Cobalt Project in Newfoundland, where surface sampling returned grades of up to 5% copper. The surface copper zone now extends over 2.2 kilometres, underpinned by a completed VTEM airborne survey revealing multiple conductive targets. “We've extended that surface copper zone now over two kilometres,” Lawrick said, describing it as a “very exciting” early-stage discovery. Turning to New Brunswick, Rocky Brook has been the focus of data-driven exploration. Magna Terra used AI tools to process years of historic data, identifying high-priority VMS targets. Follow-up fieldwork, including geochemical sampling and trenching, is underway with results expected later in the year. Lawrick also discussed the company's partnership strategy. Interview with Dan Barnholden, CEO of Luca Mining Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/luca-mining-tsxvluca-high-grade-drilling-results-boost-mexican-mining-operations-7559Recording date: 22nd October 2025Luca Mining (TSXV:LUCA) is pursuing an ambitious transformation strategy designed to triple its market capitalization from $300 million to over $1 billion by scaling production to 200,000 ounces of gold equivalent annually. The company operates two underground mines in Mexico-Campo Morado, a polymetallic VMS deposit in Guerrero, and Tahuehueto, an epithermal gold-silver mine in Durango—both previously starved of capital for a decade.CEO Dan Barnholden, bringing two decades of investment banking experience, has spent his first year stabilizing operations and strengthening the balance sheet. With only $6 million in debt remaining, two-thirds retiring by year-end 2025 and complete elimination by June 2026 and $25 million in cash reserves, the company is pivoting decisively toward growth. The most compelling element of Luca's strategy centers on transforming Campo Morado from a zinc-focused operation into a significant gold producer. Currently recovering only 20-30% of gold content, the company has engaged Ausenco to develop metallurgical processes targeting 50-70% recovery rates. "At Campo Morado, if we can double the gold grades, if we can better than double the gold recoveries, now you're talking about a real gold mine," Barnholden explained.Simultaneously, drilling at the Reforma zone has delivered exceptional results, with intercepts of 30+ meters grading over 12 grams per ton gold equivalent. Management believes this represents a potential 8 million ton high-grade gold pod that could position Campo Morado as an 80-100,000 ounce annual producer.Tahuehueto offers a more straightforward expansion pathway, with mill capacity increasing from 1,000 to 1,500 tons per day targeting 40-50,000 ounces annually. The company has also engaged three investment banks pursuing strategic acquisitions in Mexico's consolidating mining sector, where five competitors were acquired over the past year. With operating cash flow funding exploration without dilution and debt elimination providing maximum financial flexibility, Luca Mining presents investors with a clear roadmap from mid-tier producer to potential billion-dollar enterprise.View Luca Mining's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/luca-mining-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

During this series of informative podcasts, we'll bring you foundational training on the most popular Oracle technologies. Let's get started! 00:25 Nikita: Welcome to the Oracle University Podcast! I'm Nikita Abraham, Team Lead: Editorial Services with Oracle University, and with me is Lois Houston, Director of Innovation Programs. Lois: Hey there! Last week, we spoke about how hypervisors, virtual machines, and containers have transformed data centers. Today, we're moving on to something just as important—the main cloud models that drive modern cloud computing. Nikita: Orlando Gentil, Principal OCI Instructor at Oracle University, joins us once again for part four of our discussion on cloud data centers.  01:01 Lois: Hi Orlando! Glad to have you with us today. Can you walk us through the different types of cloud models?  Orlando: These are commonly categorized into three main service models: Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Software-as-a-Service. Let's use the idea of getting around town to understand cloud service models. IaaS is like renting a car. You don't own the car, but you control where it goes, how fast, and when to stop. In cloud terms, the provider gives you the infrastructure—virtual machines, storage, and networking—but you manage everything on top—the OS, middleware, runtime, and application. Thus, it's like using a shuttle service. You bring your bags—your code, pick your destination—your app requirements, but someone else drives and maintains the vehicle. You don't worry about the engine, fuel, or routing planning. That's the platform's job. Your focus stays on development and deployment, not on servers or patching. SaaS is like ordering a taxi. You say where you want to go and everything else is handled for you. It's the full-service experience. In the cloud, SaaS is software UXs over the web—Email, CRM, project management. No infrastructure, no updates, just productivity.  02:32 Nikita: Ok. How do the trade-offs between control and convenience differ across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS? Orlando: With IaaS, much like renting a car, you gain high control. You are managing components like the operating system, runtime, your applications, and your data. In return, the provider expertly handles the underlying virtual machines, storage, and networking. This model gives you immense flexibility. Moving to PaaS, our shuttle service, you shift to a medium level of control but gain significantly higher convenience. Your primary focus remains on your application code and data. The provider now takes on the heavy lifting of managing the runtime environment, the operating system, the servers themselves, and even the scaling. Finally, SaaS, our taxi service, offers the highest convenience with the lowest control level. Here, your responsibility is essentially just using the application and managing your specific configurations or data within it. The cloud provider manages absolutely everything else—the entire infrastructure, the platform, and the application itself. 03:52 Nikita: One of the top concerns for cloud users is cost optimization. How can we manage this? Orlando: Each cloud service model offers distinct strategies to help you manage and reduce your spending effectively, as well as different factors that drives those costs. For Infrastructure-as-a-Service, where you have more control, optimization largely revolves around smart resource management. This means rightsizing your VMs, ensuring they are not overprovisioned, and actively turning off idle resources when not in use. Leveraging preemptible or spot instances for flexible workloads can also significantly cut costs. Your charges here are directly tied to your compute, storage, and network usage, so efficiency is key. Moving to Platform-as-a-Service, where the platform is managed for you, optimization shifts slightly. Strategies include choosing scalable platforms that can efficiently handle fluctuating demand, opting for consumption-based pricing where available, and diligently optimizing your runtime usage to minimize processing time. Costs in PaaS are typically based on your application usage, runtime hours, and storage consumed. Finally, for Software-as-a-Service where you can consume a ready-to-use application, cost optimization centers on licensing and usage. This involves consolidating tools to avoid redundant subscriptions, selecting usage-based plans if they align better with your needs, and crucially, eliminating any unused license. SaaS costs are generally based on subscription or per user fees. Understanding these nuances is essential for effective cloud financial management.  05:52 Lois: Ok. And what about scalability? How does each model handle the ability to grow and shrink with demand, without needing manual hardware changes? Orlando: How you achieve and manage that scalability varies significantly across our three service models. For Infrastructure-as-a-Service, you have the most direct control over scaling. You can implement manual or auto scaling by adding or removing virtual machines as needed, often leveraging load balancers to distribute traffic. In this model, you configure the scaling policies and parameters based on your specific workload. Moving to Platform-as-a-Service, the scaling becomes more automated and elastic. The platform automatically adjusts resources based on your application's demand, allowing it to seamlessly handle traffic spikes or dips. Here, the provider manages the underlying scaling behavior, freeing you from that operational burden. Finally, with Software-as-a-Service, scalability is largely abstracted and invisible to the user. The application scales automatically in the background, with the entire process fully managed by the provider. As a user, you simply benefit from the application's ability to handle millions of users without ever needing to worry about the infrastructure. Understanding these scaling differences is crucial for selecting the right model for your application's need.  07:34 Join the Oracle University Learning Community and tap into a vibrant network of over 1 million members, including Oracle experts and fellow learners. How does that work?  Orlando: Availability refers to the ability of a system or service to remain accessible in operational, even in the face of failures or extremely high demand. The approach of achieving and managing availability, and crucially, your role versus the provider's differs greatly across each model. With Infrastructure-as-a-Service, you have the most direct control over your availability strategy. You will be responsible for designing an architecture that includes redundant VMs, deploying load balancers, and potentially even multi-region setups for disaster recovery. Your specific roles involves designing this architecture and managing your failover process and data backups. The provider's role, in turn, is to deliver the underlying infrastructure with defined service level agreements, SLAs, and health monitoring. For Platform-as-a-Service, the platform itself offers a higher degree of built-in, high availability, and automated failover. While the provider maintains the runtime platform's availability, your role shifts. You need to ensure your application's logic is designed to gracefully handle retries and potential transient failures that might occur. Finally, with Software-as-a-Service, availability is almost entirely handled for you. The provider ensures fully abstracted redundancy and failover behind the scenes. Your role becomes largely minimal, often just involving a specific application's configurations. The provider is entirely responsible for the full application uptime and the underlying high availability infrastructure. Understanding these distinct roles in ensuring availability is essential for setting expectations and designing your cloud strategy efficiently. 10:19 Lois: Building on availability, let's talk Disaster Recovery. Orlando: DR is about ensuring your systems and data can be recovered and brought back online in the event of a significant failure, whether it's a hardware crash, a natural disaster, or even human error. Just like the other aspects, the strategy and responsibilities for DR vary significantly across the cloud service models. For Infrastructure-as-a Service, you have the most direct involvement in your DR strategy. You need to design and execute custom DR plans. This involves leveraging capabilities like multi-region backups, taking VM snapshots, and setting up failover clusters. A real-world example might be using Oracle Cloud compute to replicate your VMs to a secondary region with block volume backups to ensure business continuity. Essentially, you manage your entire DR process here. Moving to Platform-as-a-Service, disaster recovery becomes a shared responsibility. The platform itself offers built-in redundancy and provide APIs for backup and restore. Your role will be to configure the application-level recovery and ensure your data is backed up appropriately, while the provider handles the underlying infrastructure's DR capability. An example could be Azure app service, Oracle APEX applications, where your apps are redeployed from source control like Git after an incident. Finally, with Software-as-a-Service, disaster recovery is almost entirely vendor managed. The provider takes full responsibility, offering features like auto replication and continuous backup, often backed by specific Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) SLAs. A common example is how Microsoft 365 or Salesforce manage user data backups in restoration. It's all handled seamlessly by the provider without your direct intervention. Understanding these different approaches to DR is crucial for defining your own business continuity plans in the cloud. 12:46 Lois: Thank you, Orlando, for this insightful discussion. To recap, we spoke about the three main cloud models: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and how each one offers a different mix of control and convenience, impacting cost, scalability, availability, and recovery.  Nikita: Yeah, hopefully this helps you pick the right cloud solution for your needs. Let's get started! 00:25 Lois: Hello and welcome to the Oracle University Podcast! I'm Lois Houston, Director of Innovation Programs with Oracle University, and with me is Nikita Abraham, Team Lead: Editorial Services. Nikita: Hi everyone! For the last two weeks, we've been talking about different aspects of cloud data centers. In this episode, Orlando Gentil, Principal OCI Instructor at Oracle University, joins us once again to discuss how virtualization, through hypervisors, virtual machines, and containers, has transformed data centers. 00:58 Lois: That's right, Niki. We'll begin with a quick look at the history of virtualization and why it became so widely adopted. Orlando, what can you tell us about that?  Orlando: To truly grasp the power of virtualization, it's helpful to understand its journey from its humble beginnings with mainframes to its pivotal role in today's cloud computing landscape. It might surprise you, but virtualization isn't a new concept. Its roots go back to the 1960s with mainframes. In those early days, the primary goal was to isolate workloads on a single powerful mainframe, allowing different applications to run without interfering with each other. As we moved into the 1990s, the challenge shifted to underutilized physical servers. Organizations often had numerous dedicated servers, each running a single application, leading to significant waste of computing resources. This led to the emergence of virtualization as we know it today, primarily from the 1990s to the 2000s. The core idea here was to run multiple isolated operating systems on a single physical server. This innovation dramatically improved the resource utilization and laid the technical foundation for cloud computing, enabling the scalable and flexible environments we rely on today. 02:26 Nikita: Interesting. So, from an economic standpoint, what pushed traditional data centers to change and opened the door to virtualization? Orlando: In the past, running applications often meant running them on dedicated physical servers. This led to a few significant challenges. First, more hardware purchases. Every new application, every new project often required its own dedicated server. This meant constantly buying new physical hardware, which quickly escalated capital expenditure. Secondly, and hand-in-hand with more servers came higher power and cooling costs. Each physical server consumed power and generated heat, necessitating significant investment in electricity and cooling infrastructure. The more servers, the higher these operational expenses became. And finally, a major problem was unused capacity. Despite investing heavily in these physical servers, it was common for them to run well below their full capacity. Applications typically didn't need 100% of server's resources all the time. This meant we were wasting valuable compute power, memory, and storage, effectively wasting resources and diminishing the return of investment from those expensive hardware purchases. These economic pressures became a powerful incentive to find more efficient ways to utilize data center resources, setting the stage for technologies like virtualization. 04:05 Lois: I guess we can assume virtualization emerged as a financial game-changer. So, what kind of economic efficiencies did virtualization bring to the table? Orlando: From a CapEx or capital expenditure perspective, companies spent less on servers and data center expansion. From an OpEx or operational expenditure perspective, fewer machines meant lower electricity, cooling, and maintenance costs. It also sped up provisioning. Spinning a new VM took minutes, not days or weeks. That improved agility and reduced the operational workload on IT teams. It also created a more scalable, cost-efficient foundation which made virtualization not just a technical improvement, but a financial turning point for data centers. This economic efficiency is exactly what cloud providers like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are built on, using virtualization to deliver scalable pay as you go infrastructure.  05:09 Nikita: Ok, Orlando. Let's get into the core components of virtualization. To start, what exactly is a hypervisor? Orlando: A hypervisor is a piece of software, firmware, or hardware that creates and runs virtual machines, also known as VMs. Its core function is to allow multiple virtual machines to run concurrently on a single physical host server. It acts as virtualization layer, abstracting the physical hardware resources like CPU, memory, and storage, and allocating them to each virtual machine as needed, ensuring they can operate independently and securely. 05:49 Lois: And are there types of hypervisors? Orlando: There are two primary types of hypervisors. The type 1 hypervisors, often called bare metal hypervisors, run directly on the host server's hardware. This means they interact directly with the physical resources offering high performance and security. Examples include VMware ESXi, Oracle VM Server, and KVM on Linux. They are commonly used in enterprise data centers and cloud environments. In contrast, type 2 hypervisors, also known as hosted hypervisors, run on top of an existing operating system like Windows or macOS. They act as an application within that operating system. Popular examples include VirtualBox, VMware Workstation, and Parallels. These are typically used for personal computing or development purposes, where you might run multiple operating systems on your laptop or desktop. 06:55 Nikita: We've spoken about the foundation provided by hypervisors. So, can we now talk about the virtual entities they manage: virtual machines? What exactly is a virtual machine and what are its fundamental characteristics? Orlando: A virtual machine is essentially a software-based virtual computer system that runs on a physical host computer. The magic happens with the hypervisor. The hypervisor's job is to create and manage these virtual environments, abstracting the physical hardware so that multiple VMs can share the same underlying resources without interfering with each other. Each VM operates like a completely independent computer with its own operating system and applications.  07:40 Lois: What are the benefits of this? Orlando: Each VM is isolated from the others. If one VM crashes or encounters an issue, it doesn't affect the other VMs running on the same physical host. This greatly enhances stability and security. A powerful feature is the ability to run different operating systems side-by-side on the very same physical host. You could have a Windows VM, a Linux VM, and even other specialized OS, all operating simultaneously. Consolidate workloads directly addresses the unused capacity problem. Instead of one application per physical server, you can now run multiple workloads, each in its own VM on a single powerful physical server. This dramatically improves hardware utilization, reducing the need of constant new hardware purchases and lowering power and cooling costs. And by consolidating workloads, virtualization makes it possible for cloud providers to dynamically create and manage vast pools of computing resources. This allows users to quickly provision and scale virtual servers on demand, tapping into these shared pools of CPU, memory, and storage as needed, rather than being tied to a single physical machine. 09:10 Oracle University's Race to Certification 2025 is your ticket to free training and certification in today's hottest technology. Whether you're starting with Artificial Intelligence, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Multicloud, or Oracle Data Platform, this challenge covers it all! What's your take? Orlando: A container packages an application in all its dependencies, like libraries and other binaries, into a single, lightweight executable unit. Unlike a VM, a container shares the host operating system's kernel, running on top of the container runtime process. This architectural difference provides several key advantages. Containers are incredibly portable. They can be taken virtually anywhere, from a developer's laptop to a cloud environment, and run consistently, eliminating it works on my machine issues. Because containers share the host OS kernel, they don't need to bundle a full operating system themselves. This results in significantly smaller footprints and less administration overhead compared to VMs. They are faster to start. Without the need to boot a full operating system, containers can start up in seconds, or even milliseconds, providing rapid deployment and scaling capabilities. 11:12 Nikita: Ok. Throughout our conversation, you've spoken about the various advantages of virtualization but let's consolidate them now.  Orlando: From a security standpoint, virtualization offers several crucial benefits. Each VM operates in its own isolated sandbox. This means if one VM experiences a security breach, the impact is generally contained to that single virtual machine, significantly limiting the spread of potential threats across your infrastructure. Containers also provide some isolation. Virtualization allows for rapid recovery. This is invaluable for disaster recovery or undoing changes after a security incident. You can implement separate firewalls, access rules, and network configuration for each VM. This granular control reduces the overall exposure and attack surface across your virtualized environments, making it harder for malicious actors to move laterally. Beyond security, virtualization also brings significant advantages in terms of operational and agility benefits for IT management. Virtualization dramatically improves operational efficiency and agility. Things are faster. With virtualization, you can provision new servers or containers in minutes rather than days or weeks. This speed allows for quicker deployment of applications and services. It becomes much simpler to deploy consistent environment using templates and preconfigured VM images or containers. This reduces errors and ensures uniformity across your infrastructure. It's more scalable. Virtualization makes your infrastructure far more scalable. You can reshape VMs and containers to meet changing demands, ensuring your resources align precisely with your needs. These operational benefits directly contribute to the power of cloud computing, especially when we consider virtualization's role in enabling cloud and scalability. Virtualization is the very backbone of modern cloud computing, fundamentally enabling its scalability. It allows multiple virtual machines to run on a single physical server, maximizing hardware utilization, which is essential for cloud providers. This capability is core of infrastructure as a service offerings, where users can provision virtualized compute resources on demand. Virtualization makes services globally scalable. Resources can be easily deployed and managed across different geographic regions to meet worldwide demand. Finally, it provides elasticity, meaning resources can be automatically scaled up or down in response to fluctuating workloads, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency. 14:21 Lois: That's amazing. Robe Mesa Iron Ore Sale Delivers $75 Million and Positions CZR as Cash-Backed CZR Resources has completed the sale of its Robe Mesa Iron Ore Project to the Robe River Joint Venture (Rio Tinto, Mitsui and Nippon Steel), delivering around $75 million in cash. The transaction leaves CZR debt-free and holding a cash balance roughly equivalent to its market capitalisation, effectively making it a cash-backed exploration company. With a strong balance sheet and no debt, CZR is now well positioned to fund aggressive exploration across its portfolio. 2. Croydon Gold Project: Drilling Targets Hemi-Style Intrusions Freshly funded, CZR has launched an aggressive drilling campaign at its Croydon Gold Project, located about 50 kilometres south-east of De Grey Mining's Hemi discovery in the Pilbara. Early aircore results have confirmed the presence of diorite intrusions, epithermal quartz veining and gossanous zones — all key indicators of intrusive-related gold systems similar to Hemi. With RC drilling planned through late 2025, the company is aiming to define both shallow epithermal gold mineralisation and deeper intrusion-hosted systems across the Top Camp and Bottom Camp prospects. 3. Edamurta Copper-Zinc Project Shows Golden Grove-Style VMS Potential CZR's Edamurta Project, located in the Midwest near Yalgoo, is showing strong signs of volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) potential similar to the Golden Grove and Deflector deposits. Recent geophysical surveys have identified strong electromagnetic conductors, consistent with copper-zinc-gold-silver mineralisation. A 3,000-metre RC drilling program is planned to test these high-priority conductor plates, offering multi-commodity upside and the potential to establish CZR as a serious copper-zinc explorer in Western Australia. 4. Strategic Backing from the Creasy Group CZR continues to benefit from the long-term support and geological expertise of the Creasy Group, led by renowned prospector Mark Creasy, who holds a 51% stake in CZR and a 30% joint venture interest at Croydon. The Croydon tenements were originally pegged by Creasy for their intrusive geological potential, and his ongoing involvement provides both strategic stability and proven exploration pedigree across CZR's project portfolio. 5. Fully Funded Growth and Retained Iron Ore Upside Following the Robe Mesa sale, CZR is fully funded to accelerate exploration across its gold and base-metal projects while maintaining exposure to iron ore through the Peters Creek and Darnell's prospects and its 50% interest in the Ashburton Link infrastructure joint venture. With a strong cash position, multiple high-potential assets, and upcoming drilling at both Croydon and Edamurta, CZR offers a rare combination of financial strength, discovery upside, and portfolio diversity — all while trading around its cash backing.

Interview with CEO Darren BowdenOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/metals-exploration-lsemtl-self-funded-nicaragua-gold-mine-targets-140k-oz-start-in-q4-2026-7323Recording date: 30th September 2025Metals Exploration presents a rare combination of near-term production growth and genuine exploration upside that makes it stand out in today's gold sector. With the Nicaragua project tracking ahead of schedule toward November 2026 first gold and the Philippines operation generating $110-120 million in annual cash flow, the company is executing a self-funded growth strategy that eliminates dilution risk while maintaining aggressive exploration programs. The Nicaragua build represents a transformational step-change for the company. All major equipment has been purchased, earthworks are complete, and the $160 million budget remains intact. More importantly, Nicaragua will produce 50% more ounces than the Philippines operation at roughly the same cost structure, bringing all-in sustaining costs down to $900-1000 per ounce. In an environment where many producers cite $1,400 as the new normal, this sub-$1,000 cost structure translates to 60%+ operating margins at current gold prices a genuine competitive advantage. What separates Metals Exploration from typical development stories is management's proven track record. Over six years, the Philippines operation has maintained just 2% annual cost growth versus industry averages of 10-15%. This isn't theoretical cost control it's demonstrated operational excellence that provides confidence in Nicaragua's projected economics.Beyond production growth, the exploration portfolio offers asymmetric upside. Dupax drilling begins immediately, targeting VMS mineralization that could feed existing permitted infrastructure. But the real company-maker potential lies at Abra, where copper-molybdenum and copper-gold porphyry targets sit in the Cordillera belt home to the Philippines' largest copper-gold deposits including the 40-million-ounce Far Southeast system. CEO Darren Bowden characterizes Nicaragua and Dupax as "forerunners to give us the cash" to develop Abra, the company's "white whale."For investors seeking operational excellence combined with tier-one discovery potential, Metals Exploration offers a compelling risk-reward profile. The strategy is elegant: proven cash flow funds patient exploration capital toward potentially transformational discoveries, all without equity dilution. That's increasingly rare in today's gold sector.Learn more: https://cruxinvestor.comSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

“The real alternative is a trusted home, a trusted partner, not just a replacement,” says Roman Semionov, Sales Director at CaaB. “VMware's model shifts have shattered trust, and MSPs are looking for stability.” In a new Technology Reseller News podcast, Publisher Doug Green speaks with Semionov about why CaaB is positioning itself as a partner-first cloud infrastructure provider at a time of massive turbulence in the virtualization market. With Broadcom's acquisition of VMware leading to sharp cost hikes, licensing complexity, and a shrinking partner ecosystem, many MSPs are scrambling for alternatives. Semionov argues that this upheaval presents an opportunity: MSPs can now re-examine how they deliver cloud services and align with providers that prioritize transparency and predictability. CaaB offers infrastructure-as-a-service with industry-leading margins, white-label branding, and global reach. The platform emphasizes price visibility—partners know their monthly costs before deployment—plus free migrations, 24/7 live support, and regular hardware upgrades without hidden tiers. Semionov shares the story of a New Jersey-based MSP that faced a 600% cost increase under VMware. After migrating to CaaB, the company saved roughly $200,000 annually, allowing them to expand sales staff instead of cutting headcount. Looking ahead, Semionov predicts a shift toward hybrid strategies, reduced vendor lock-in, and growing ecosystems around alternative providers. “VMs are still around, but their dominance is broken,” he notes. “MSPs need a stable, predictable, partner-first option—and that's where CaaB comes in.” To learn more, visit https://caab.cloud

At VMware Explore in Las Vegas, the buzz wasn't just about generative AI, but about where and how it should run. My guest is Tasha Drew, Director of Engineering for the AI team in the VMware Cloud Foundation division at Broadcom, who has been at the center of this conversation. Fresh off the main stage, where she helped debut VMware's new Private AI Services and Intelligent Assist for VMware Cloud Foundation, Tasha joins me to unpack what these announcements mean for enterprises grappling with privacy, cost, and integration challenges. Tasha explains why private AI is resonating so strongly in 2025, outlining the three pillars that define it: protecting sensitive intellectual property, managing regulated or high-value data, and ensuring role-based control of fine-tuned models. She shares how organizations often start their AI journey in the public cloud, but as experimentation turns to production, cost pressures, data compliance, and proximity to data drive them toward private AI. We also dive into VMware's own evolution toward building an AI-native private cloud platform. Tasha highlights the journey from deep learning VMs and Jupyter notebooks to full AI platform services that empower IT teams to deliver models efficiently, save money, and accelerate deployment of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications. She introduces Intelligent Assist for VMware Cloud Foundation, an AI-powered guide that helps teams navigate complex deployments with context-aware support and step-by-step instructions. Beyond the technology, Tasha reflects on the broader ecosystem shifts, from partnerships with NVIDIA and AMD to the role of Model Context Protocol (MCP) in breaking down integration barriers between enterprise systems. She believes MCP represents a turning point, enabling seamless workflows between platforms that historically lacked incentive to work together. This conversation captures a pivotal moment where private AI is moving from theory into enterprise adoption. For leaders weighing their next move, Tasha provides both the strategic framing and the technical insight to understand why private AI has become one of the most talked-about forces shaping enterprise IT today.

Nestle Considering Divestment of Supplement Brands | What's Next for Nestle Health Science?

I bet Nestle wishes it could go back and experience that “Great Shutdown” fueled demand spike again (because it went by too fast), but allowing some VMS brands to leave the nest could be its next step towards finding new growth! Within the prepared remarks section, Nestle leadership noted during the first-half 2025 earnings call that it had launched a review of its underperforming vitamins, minerals, supplements (VMS) portfolio…and that it could lead to the divestment of some brands. But wait…wasn't it just four short years ago when Nestle completed the $5.75 billion acquisition of The Bountiful Company? Yep! Nevertheless, I'll replay a contextually relevant portion of my conversation with Teddie Townsend (Managing Director - CG Sawaya Partners) from last year that will help you better understand what's really going on inside Nestle (and the entire supplement industry M&A strategic acquirer landscape). But when we recorded that conversational content, it wasn't publicly known yet that Nestle would be making a leadership change…with the new CEO (i,e. Laurent Freixe) taking over in September 2024. And it meant a shift in companywide strategy naturally happened…accompanied by a clear action plan to drive performance and transformation. Additionally, the Nestle Virtuous Circle strategic framework included an element about addressing underperformers to support growth…and specifically sharpening focus within Nestle Health Science. With a diverse portfolio of brands across VMS, Active Nutrition, and Medical Nutrition…Nestle Health Science has built a leading position, and the segment generates slightly less than $8.5 billion in revenue annually. And while Nestle still believes VMS is an attractive category with clear growth drivers…new leadership is focused on the premium end of the market, which is deemed to have the highest potential. So, going forward…Nestle Health Science will focus on its global premium VMS brands such as Garden of Life, Solgar, and Pure Encapsulations, as Nestle believes its capabilities in science, innovation, and brand-building give it a distinct competitive edge. Alternatively, Nestle launched a strategic review of its mainstream and value VMS brands, including (but not limited to) Nature's Bounty, Osteo-Bi Flex, Puritan's Pride, and private label. And though this likely divestment activity is consistent with the “focus and simplification” strategic growth approach of Nestle's new leadership…it basically dismantles a substantial portion of The Bountiful Company acquisition, which arguably was considered one of the predecessor's (i.e. Mark Schneider) most substantial moves throughout his 7-year pursuit of transforming the company into a health and nutrition powerhouse. But then…for the final portion of my latest first principles content piece, I'll explore two different “what's next” scenarios; who likely acquires these Nestle Health Science VMS brands under review and where I believe Nestle Health Science will strategically focus after the proverbial divestment dust settles.

It's an early start again over here in YFT-land, and this week we're bringing you the show ON TIME and with all the juicy BIP drama you're needing while you sip your morning cup of joe. Thank god for the drama is all we gotta say. Even though this week's ep of BIP was more mellow, that loveable cast still found ways to entertain us even after the show - namely Justin and Lexi's IG feud?? Tell us more…meanwhile, the Goldens are out stealing some limelight, and April tell us your skincare regimen! We need to know. IRL, your hosts debate the questionable practice of Jeep owners and their ‘duck' infatuation, how to save the movie industry, laughing gas at the dentist and why mountain climbing is a deathwish. Oh also, faves. Lotsa faves this week and some listener VMs! Love ya YFTe'rs!
