THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS! LOADS OF THEM! WE MEAN IT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...He's back! It's the night HE came home... No, we aren't talking exclusively about Michael Myers but rather saying a fond welcome back to Ruin Me director Preston DeFrancis, who joined us previously to discuss Halloween H20! Our first returning guest! At the time of recording that episode, we touched on the imminent release of Blumhouse and David Gordon Green's Halloween (2018) and jokingly said, "You should come back on when the film's out and dissect it".  Well, here we are. It's out. We have all seen it and Preston is back. What did he make of it? What is the overall feeling on the film? Find out inside! Episode 17 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Preston De Francis, director of Shudder Exclusive and Official Selection of Frightfest 2017, Ruin Me.  His chosen film? Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later! Directed by slasher stalwart and released in 1998, 20 years after John Carpenter's original (and recently enjoying its 20 year anniversary), Halloween H20 reunites Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode and her wayward brother Michael Myers for one "final" showdown. The film also stars Michelle Williams, Adam Arkin, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Janet Leigh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and features a first appearance of a certain Josh Hartnett.  The synopsis is as follows:  Halloween H20 picks up 20 years after the second movie with Laurie Strode now hiding out as the head mistress of a posh boarding school in the California hills after faking her own death and changing her name. She is an emotionally traumatised alcoholic wreck, still struggling with the memories of her near fatal encounters with her psychotic brother Michael Myers years earlier, and so is over-protective of her 17-year-old son John. Just when she thought it couldn't get much worse, Myers reappears after laying in hiding for the last 20 years. His target is now Laurie's son who, along with a few teenage friends, ditches a school camping trip for a private Halloween party in the now-deserted school, forcing Laurie into a climactic battle with Myers.    Please note that this podcast may contain strong language and even stronger Scottish accents.  Remember, you can keep up to date with our news by following us via the usual social media outlets:  Facebook Twitter Instagram Plus you can drop us an email to stronglanguageviolentscenes@gmail.com. After a week off so that Luke could check out Fantastic Fest (presumably), we're back and this time we've added a co-host! Matt Stuertz, director of RWD and most recently TONIGHT SHE COMES, joins the madness for the entire episode. Heading into the news feed we have to mention the original HALLOWEEN is coming back to theaters. SYFY channel has gotten away from sharks being paired with weather patterns and is giving us NEVERKNOCK and TRUTH OR DARE. Surprisingly, we are excited for both. Netflix continues to champion the genre with horror-comedy THE BABYSITTER and the acquisition of THE RITUAL. And finally, since we have the man himself on the show, we talk about TONIGHT SHE COMES and the one-night screening it is having. Early listeners to the show will get a chance to see it Thursday, October 5th. As a sorry for missing a week, we decided some bonus content was in order. Luke interviewed the minds behind RUIN ME, Preston DeFrancis and Trysta A. Bissett. You won't want to miss this film. This week's review is another from Netflix, GERALD'S GAME. Mike Flanagan has been a busy man, with a fair amount of success, but how does he fair with a movie that most claimed to be impossible to film? You not only get our usual opinions, but the insight of someone who knows what it takes to direct. Finally, we finish up #ASKMODERNHORRORS. All of that and a whole lot more in this whopping two hour episode!
