Two weeks before George Rivera's father died, he pulled him close and said three things: Don't miss Leo's games. I missed too many of yours. No business advice. No legacy talk. Just a deathbed confession from a man who finally understood what the scoreboard should have been tracking all along. That moment became everything. George Rivera is the founder of 18 Summers Advisory and author of Before They Stop Asking and this conversation is for every parent, future parent, and founder who's been telling themselves they'll make it up later. George and George break down what it really costs to build a business that consumes your life, and exactly what it looks like to build one that funds it instead. What You'll Learn In This Episode: Why "I'll make it up to them later" is the most expensive lie founders tell themselves How George Rivera went from 90-hour weeks to semi-retired, while doubling revenue to $50M What the time audit reveals about where you're actually leaking presence and profit The 3-5 things that truly move the needle in any business and how to find yours The absence rehearsal test: what would break if you disappeared for a week? Why children stop asking and the two ways it happens The vacation rehearsal: how to test your business before stepping away Key Takeaways: ✔️You can always make more money. You cannot redo a childhood. You don't even know if they're going to like you later. ✔️The "I'll do it later" promise is a false finish line. Tomorrow sometimes means never. In George Rivera's case, it meant three years. ✔️Owner-dependency is not a badge of honor, it's a ceiling. The business that requires you for everything cannot outlast you. ✔️The time audit question: what are the 3-5 things only you can do in the business that actually move the needle? Everything else is a candidate for elimination or delegation. ✔️The absence rehearsal test: if you disappeared for a week with no phone, no laptop, no internet, what would you have a nightmare about not getting done? Those are your needle movers. ✔️Children don't stop needing you. They just stop asking. And it doesn't happen in one big moment, it's a hundred small ones of "give me five minutes." ✔️Consistency breaks trust. Consistency rebuilds it. The bond with your family works exactly like the bond with your clients. ✔️You don't have to choose between a great business and a present life. But it requires intentional design, not an accidental one. Timestamps & Highlights: [00:00] — The deathbed confession: "Don't miss Leo's games. I missed too many of yours." Wisconsin Democrats just rejected the socialist who wanted to cancel Thanksgiving and abolish the police. David Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive and late establishment choice, narrowly beat Francesca Hong by just over 3,200 votes out of more than 787,000 cast. Polls had shown the Democratic Socialist of America member leading by double digits heading into Election Day. Hong, who once posted, “Cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621,” and declared, “Police exist to uphold white supremacy. Defund then abolish,” had been walking those statements back hard in the final stretch. Critics on both sides warned her past radical comments would hand the governor's mansion to Republicans in November. Even Bernie Sanders and AOC kept their distance. Crowley positioned himself as the moderate alternative, warning that a lot of people were scared of where the party and the country were headed under candidates like Hong. This primary result is another data point in the ongoing fight over how far left the Democratic Party is willing to go — and whether regular voters will tolerate it. ARE YOU RACIST FOR NOT LIKING PIT BULLS? Actor Jon Bernthal says being afraid of pit bulls is “dog racism”—the same as judging someone by race or sexual orientation. Austin breaks down why that comparison collapses, what the attack data shows and why parents should not be shamed for recognizing breed-specific risk. Then we examine a quieter national crisis: Americans are speaking thousands fewer words than they did two decades ago as smartphones, self-checkout lanes, remote work and app-based life replace ordinary human contact. Camellia Peterson joins us ahead of Missouri's August 4 vote on Amendment Five, a proposal to phase out the state income tax and prevent future lawmakers from restoring it. We debate the “everything tax” argument, its impact on seniors and working families, and what voters need to know before heading to the polls. Finally, United States Cattlemen's Association President Justin Tupper explains why the American cattle herd has fallen to its lowest level since 1951 and what that means for ranchers and beef prices.

Are you a conservative country folk, or are you a born-again Christian? In this urgent Sunday message, Coach Shelby dives into Ezekiel Chapter 9 to deliver a sober warning to the modern church. When judgment came upon Jerusalem, six executioners were dispatched, but a seventh man dressed in linen—a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus—was commanded to go through the city first. His mission? Put a mark on the foreheads of everyone who sighs, weeps, and cries over the abominations occurring in their land. The harsh reality is that morality and conservative country values will not spend eternity with God. The best of man is still a stench in the nostrils of the Creator. It's not enough to be appalled by the downfall of our nation—we must grab hold of the horns of the altar, truly repent, and carry the Gospel into our communities without compromise. If you claim to love your family and neighbors, but you withhold the message of the cross to keep the peace, you aren't showing love—you're showing hatred. It's time to find out if you have the mark of the cross on your forehead or if you're just playing church.Video Chapters:0:00 — Introduction: Ezekiel 9 & The Executioners of Judgment0:33 — The Man in Linen: Placing the Mark on the Forehead0:54 — Conservative Values vs. Salvation: Why Morality Won't Save You1:41 — Do You Weep at the Altar? Giving God Your Entire Life9:18 — The Fruit Test: Where Are the 64% Talking About Jesus?9:49 — A Final Prayer & Warning: Pick Up Your Cross and Witness TodayKey Takeaways From This Message:Morality is Not Salvation: Being a hardworking, hay-hauling, country-living conservative makes you a decent neighbor, but it does not make you a child of God. Heaven is not populated by "good people"; it is populated by redeemed sinners who have repented at the altar. The Mark of the Tav: The mark placed on the foreheads in Ezekiel 9 was the Tav—the final letter of the Hebrew alphabet, historically shaped like a cross. The cross of Christ is the final word, the completion of redemption, and the mark of those who are set apart for the Lord.Exposing Cultural Christianity: While public surveys claim that over 60% of Americans are "Christian," reality tells a different story. If 6 out of 10 people were truly born again, you couldn't walk into a store without encountering the Spirit of God. Scripturally, the path to life is narrow, and few find it—stop relying on crowd numbers and make your calling sure.Sighing and Crying Over Sin: God explicitly marked those who felt deep, spiritual grief over the abominations in their city. A lukewarm, passive attitude toward rebellion and false grace is an indicator of an unregenerate heart.Scriptures Referenced in This Episode:Ezekiel 9 — The marking of those who grieve over abomination and the judgment of the city.Luke 9:23 — Denying yourself, taking up your cross daily, and following Christ.Matthew 7:13-14 — The wide gate that leads to destruction vs. the narrow path to life.Mark 4 — The Parable of the Sower and the seed on different grounds. If this video stirred your spirit, don't keep quiet about it. What if the problem isn't that we disagree, but that we've stopped talking to each other? In this episode, I'm joined by Ed Manzi, founder of Unmuted, a civic dialogue initiative that's reimagining how Americans engage in conversations about politics. Instead of shouting across social media, Ed is bringing people together in person to debate complex issues with curiosity, humor, and respect.Together, we explore:* Why social media algorithms are creating separate realities* How echo chambers shape the way we see politics* Why disagreement doesn't have to lead to division* The importance of making civic engagement accessible and engaging* How meaningful conversations can strengthen democracyWhether you're politically engaged or exhausted by today's political climate, this conversation offers a refreshing perspective on what it means to listen, challenge assumptions, and reconnect with people who think differently. If this conversation made you think differently about politics, civic engagement, or the value of honest dialogue, I'd love to hear your thoughts.Subscribe to Like Nobody's Business so you never miss an episode. If you enjoyed this conversation, I'd be so grateful if you left a rating and review. In this episode, we're taking a closer look at some of the most dangerous power players in the viper's nest at the heart of Westeros. Is Tyrion becoming the villain of A Clash of Kings? Is Maester Pycelle the worst person in the history of the realm? Why is everyone so afraid of Robb Stark and treating him like a White-Walker-level threat? On this week's very special Hater Week episode, Nathan, Chris, and Riley are joined by the crown prince of hating himself, Ed Zitron. We talk to Ed about what it means to be an effective hater in his wheelhouse—going after the companies that are taking everyone for a ride (to hell) on the AI Express—and beyond. But whether the topic is games, tech, or whatever else, one truth pervades: To be a good hater, you must also, at your core, be a lover. You've got to be equally studious whether you're obsessing over something genuinely cool or something that deserves to be ground to pulp by a thousand garbage disposals. In that spirit, we also discuss our greatest hates and our greatest loves. And of course, we decide which JoJo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is the biggest hater.Credits- Hosts: Nathan Grayson, Chris Person, Riley MacLeod, & special guest Ed Zitron- Podcast Production & Ads: Multitude- Subscribe to Aftermath!About The ShowAftermath Hours is the flagship podcast of Aftermath, a worker-owned, subscription-based website covering video games, the internet, and everything that comes after from journalists who previously worked at Kotaku, Vice, and The Washington Post. The seducer. "I have just met D'Annunzio. Can this be the man the great Duse loved? He is small, he is bald, and his teeth are in three different colours."The warrior poet in a plane over Vienna. "Today I drop words; next time I will drop bombs" Lucy Hughes-Hallett returned to the show to talk about The Pike, her prize-winning biography of Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863–1938): poet, novelist, war hero, serial seducer and proto-fascist. Italy's most celebrated writer since Dante (his own assessment, though not only his), D'Annunzio spent decades scandalising Europe with his writing and his love life before helping to drag Italy into the First World War. Hating the 'mutilated victory' that followed, he took over the town of Fiume and ruled as a mini dictator defying both the Allies and his own government. Mussolini watched and learned.Along the way: an ode to a torpedo, a chest of drawers stuffed with ladies' gloves, a Beethoven concert followed by a mock battle fought with real grenades, half a battleship installed as a garden ornament and the seduction secrets of a man once described as a bulldozer with a scented handkerchief under the pillow.

Beans are cheap, filling, and weirdly controversial, and that's exactly why we wanted bean.supporter on the show. She's a bean recipe developer who's built a whole online identity around getting more people to eat legumes, not by selling perfection, but by telling the truth about what works. We talk about how beans helped her through real-life health issues, why a 30-day only-beans challenge sparked her creativity, and what she learned from watching the internet react to fiber like it's a horror movie. We get into the practical nutrition too: fiber and gut health, why many people feel better when they finally eat enough beans, and what a beans-only approach still misses from a nutrition standpoint (hello, vitamin B12 and fat-soluble vitamins). Then we go deep on recipes, including the difference between “this is a healthier dessert” and “this tastes exactly like cookie dough” and why that distinction matters if you want sustainable eating habits. You'll also hear our takes on bean desserts that genuinely deliver, like chocolate bean cake and black bean brownies, plus savory staples that keep life simple. Finally, we zoom out to bean culture: Berkeley bean-ups in the park, the canned vs dried beans debate, and why premium beans can taste completely different from the mushy stuff that turned you off years ago. If you want budget-friendly protein, high-fiber meal ideas, and a realistic way to eat more plant-based foods without getting preached at, this one's for you. Subscribe, share with a bean skeptic, and leave a review with your most-used bean and the dish you swear by. New Discourses Bullets, Ep. 170 Woke is coming back, but not the crude Identity Marxism (Intersectionality) of the 2010s and first years of the 2020s. A new Woke, a "Woke 2.0," is arising. It's focuses will be largely a return to old-school Marxist standbys like class theory, materialism, and "anti-imperialism" in its new postcolonial form. Hating, not just opposing, Israel is a hallmark of this Woke 2.0 evolution, as is being "anti-corruption," which we can be sure will be selectively applied. Woke 2.0, though, is the long-anticipated (or dreaded) "materialist turn" we have been predicting since at least 2022, and it is now here. Savage argues that an organized Islamist influence campaign is gaining ground in the United States. He contends that some figures within the right-wing movement have adopted anti-Jewish rhetoric by using the term "Zionist" and are amplifying narratives favorable to Iran. He then exposes the biased and antisemitic three member UN-linked commission that has accused Israel of committing genocide. He warns Americans to be vigilant after the socialist sweep in New York City elections. He fears that Zohran Mamdani is the tip of the spear to the Muslim Brotherhood and the beginning of a multi-stage strategy for Islamist expansion in the West.
