the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Amon.60 All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety and two.61 And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.62 The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.65 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.66 The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,67 Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.68 Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:69 Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.71 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.72 And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.14 My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

1. The Distraction of Compromise (Nehemiah 6:1-4) The Invitation to Ono: Nehemiah's chief political enemies—Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem—send a message inviting him to a meeting in one of the villages on the plain of Ono. The Hidden Agenda: Nehemiah immediately discerns their true intent, noting, "but they thought to do me mischief." The plain of Ono was a neutral, borderline territory; the enemies wanted to lure Nehemiah away from the safety of Jerusalem to kidnap or assassinate him. The Great Work Response: Nehemiah sends messengers back with a famous declaration of focus: "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" Persistence of the Enemy: The enemies send the exact same invitation four distinct times, trying to wear Nehemiah down through repetition, but he answers them with the same unwavering refusal each time.

Pentecost Sunday 50 days after Crucifixion/Passover Acts 2 – The Holy Spirit is poured out Power for world-wide witness The Spirit came with power. But the power was not random, or goosebump feels. In Acts 1 the resurrected Jesus makes His followers a promise. Jesus has defeated death. Jesus has risen from the grave. Jesus is preparing His followers for what comes next. And He says in Acts 1:8: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” Power for what? To be witnesses. Power for mission. Power for purpose. The resurrected Jesus promises power, but He also gives purpose. And that matters because sometimes we ask God for more power, but we have not discovered or surrendered to His purpose. We want God to move. We want Him to strengthen us. We want Him to help us. We want Him to open doors. But if we are honest, we still let distractions lead. That is not just a time management problem. That is a purpose problem. Stephen Covey popularized an idea called the Time Management Matrix. It separates life into what is urgent and what is important. Urgent means it demands attention now. Important means it actually matters. Notice… Important & Urgent Important but NOT Urgent Urgent but NOT Important NOT urgent & NOT Important Here is what I want us to focus on. A lot of the things that matter most are important, but they are not urgent. Your kids are important, but they may not feel urgent until there is a crisis. Your marriage is important, but it may not feel urgent until distance has already grown. Your prayer life is important, but it may not feel urgent until your soul is running on empty. Your health is important, but it may not feel urgent until your body starts breaking down. Your purpose is important, but it may not feel urgent until you wake up one day wondering what your life has been about. Important things rarely scream.Urgent things always scream. Your phone screams. Drama screams. Deadlines scream. Notifications scream. Other people's expectations scream. But God often whispers. Your soul whispers. Your family whispers. Your body whispers. Your calling whispers. Your purpose whispers. And if you only respond to what screams, you will miss what God is whispering. And that is why I am calling today's message: Busy… but Not Building Anything. There is a difference between having a full schedule and building a faithful life. There is a difference between doing a lot and doing what matters. There is a difference between being tired because you were faithful and being tired because you were distracted. If you do not define what matters, urgency will define your life for you. And God has a lot to say about this.Let's look at Nehemiah 6.  Nehemiah knew what mattered.Nehemiah 6:1-4 Nehemiah was a Jewish man living far from Jerusalem, serving as cupbearer to the king of Persia. That might sound like a nice royal job, but a cupbearer was basically a poison detector. He tasted the king's wine before the king drank it. So Nehemiah did not start with a dream job. He did not start in a perfect situation. He was living under a foreign empire, working close to power, but still carrying a lot of pain. One day, Nehemiah heard that Jerusalem was in trouble. The wall was broken down. The gates had been burned. The people were vulnerable. And something broke inside him. He cried.He prayed.He fasted.He asked God for favor. And eventually, God opened the door for him to go back and rebuild the wall. But this was not just a wall. It was restoration.Protection.Identity. Purpose. Nehemiah knew what mattered. And if you have ever felt like God put purpose in you, but you can never find the time to build it, pay attention to Nehemiah. In Nehemiah 6, the wall is almost finished. No gaps are left. Something terribly destructive happens… He gets a note from surrounding leaders who opposed the work send Nehemiah a message… Read these terrible words… Nehemiah 6:2“Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” Doesn't seem terrible or destructive. Seems friendly and neighborly.  They request a meeting. It sounds harmless. Just a meeting. Just a conversation. Just come down for a minute. Nehemiah says they were scheming to harm him.  …but I don't even want to focus on that… I want to point out this… They wanted him to stop what was important and busy himself with something that was urgent but not important. Do you see this? This is more destructive than you realize. They invite him to Ono, and Nehemiah basically says: “Oh no.” I am not coming down. When the urgent tries to steal the important we need to say Oh no. When distraction tries to interrupt obedience Oh no. When people pressure you into something God did not assign you… Oh no. Here is how Nehemiah responded. Nehemiah 6:3“I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down.” Nehemiah knew what mattered. He knew what he was building. He knew the work would stop if he came down. So he refused. Not every invitation is an assignment. Not every opportunity is your opportunity. Not every urgent request deserves your yes. Not every good thing is a God thing. When you know what matters, you can recognize distraction. I am doing something important!And I can't meet with you at this time. Nehemiah 6:4“Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.” How many times? Four times. The distraction came back.The pressure came back.The invitation came back. Important work is not just about one big decision. Important work is about repeated obedience. Distraction is repetitive, so obedience must become repetitive. The habit was not just building the wall. The habit was also refusing to be distracted. The apostle Paul says like this in Ephesians 5: Ephesians 5:15-16“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Be careful how you live. Your time matters. Your attention matters. Your yes matters. Your no matters. Your wall matters. So let's make this practical. What is your wall? Nehemiah had a wall. What is yours? What is the good work God has put in front of you in this season? Not your whole life. Not ten years from now. This season. What matters right now? Your walk with Jesus?Your family?Your marriage?Your kids?Your health?Your calling?Your recovery? Your serving?Your peace?Your obedience? Call to Action: Don't Let Urgent Steal Important Today, I want you to take three steps. If you do not name what matters, urgency will name it for you. 1. Write it.I'm building ______, so I will not come down for ______. Pray over that answer. Do not just write something down. Ask God, “Is this what You are calling me to build?” Then keep it somewhere you will see it. Put it on your mirror.Put it in your Bible.Put it on your dashboard.Remind yourself of your purpose. 2. Start a conversation about your calling. (fill out a Connection Card) Use your connection card to start a conversation. Give us your prayer request.Learn more about your next step. Turn that card in today. 3. Come pray. Prayer is important. But a lot of us only pray when it becomes urgent. Today, make prayer important before life makes it urgent. If you need God to show you what matters, come pray. If urgency has been running your life, come pray. If you know what matters but need strength to stay faithful, come pray. We have people ready to pray with you. The resurrected Jesus promised power for purpose. Come pray and ask the Holy Spirit for power to build what matters.

I nije ni čudo što se lako uhvatimo u zamku da nikad nismo dovoljno: dovoljno uspješni, dovoljno disciplinovani, dovoljno sređeni, dovoljno “ispred”.Ali poređenje ne počinje na društvenim mrežama. Ono često kreće mnogo ranije, kroz odrastanje, kroz rečenice koje smo slušali i obrasce koje smo nesvjesno usvojili.U ovoj epizodi pričam o tome zašto se zapravo porediš, zašto ti uvijek djeluje da neko ima “više” i kako da izađeš iz tog začaranog kruga bez da stalno juriš neku novu verziju sebe.

Viera, nádej, láska. Kedysi bolo zvykom, že veriaci ľudia nosili na retiazke krížik, srdce a kotvu, čo symbolizuje vieru, lásku a nádej. To sú hodnoty, ktoré sú nosnou myšlienkou aj nášho textu a sú spojené s najväčším darom – spasením. Pán Boh nám pripomína, že nezabudne na našu prácu, lásku a službu, ak sme ju konali v mene Pána Ježiša. Keďže odmenu dostaneme až v budúcnosti, apoštol Pavel nás povzbudzuje, aby sme nestrácali nádej. Viera potrebuje niečo, čoho sa môže chytiť. Pre Abraháma to bolo Božie slovo, ktorému uveril a počítalo sa mu to za spravodlivosť (narodenie Izáka). To, čo platilo pre Abraháma, platí aj pre nás. Pán Boh nám v Pánovi Ježišovi zasľubuje nádej večnosti. Abrahám mal vtedy iba Božie slovo, ktorému uveril a v nádeji sa dočkal jeho naplnenia. My máme ešte viac. Máme Pána Ježiša, Slovo, ktoré sa stalo telom a prebýva medzi nami. Ono je našou istotou. Držme sa tejto nádeje, pretože ona nezávisí od nás, ale od vykupiteľského diela Pána Ježiša, ktorý zomrel, zvíťazil, vstal z mŕtvych a všetkým, ktorí tomu veria, daruje večný život v Božom kráľovstve. Možno sa cítiš ako Abrahám, že Pán Boh mešká so zasľúbením, s pomocou, no pamätaj, keď On niečo povie, vždy to aj vykoná! Buď iba trpezlivý, čakaj! Boh nedrieme ani nespí, ale v pravý čas nám príde na pomoc. Modlitba: Bože, ďakujem Ti, že prinášaš lásku, vieru a nádej, nie ničenie, nenávisť, odsudzovanie a vojnu! Odpusť, že ma často ovláda posudzovanie a chlad! Nech Tvoj Svätý Duch preniká moju dušu a plní ju láskou! Amen. Mimozemšťania, UFO a neidentifikované lietajúce objekty patria medzi témy, ktoré pravidelne vyvolávajú veľký záujem verejnosti. Prieskumy ukazujú, že mnohí ľudia veria v existenciu mimozemského života a časť z nich si dokonca myslí, že mimozemšťania už navštívili Zem. Téma sa pritom objavuje nielen v popkultúre a konšpiračných teóriách, ale aj v politike. Nedávno napríklad americký prezident Donald Trump oznámil, že chce začať proces zverejňovania vládnych dokumentov o UFO a mimozemskom živote. Aj o týchto otázkach diskutovala Veronika Jursová Prachárová so šéfkou Demagóg.sk Veronikou Frankovskou a s teoretickým fyzikom Samuelom Kováčikom.V úvode Veronika Frankovská upozornila, že pri téme mimozemšťanov sa v prieskumoch verejnej mienky často objavuje aj širší kontext konšpiračných naratívov. Podľa nej ľudí niekedy viac než samotná existencia mimozemšťanov zaujíma predstava, že vlády alebo inštitúcie niečo zatajujú. „Ja by som to videla práve v kontexte takýchto konšpirácií, že je niekto, kto nám niečo zatajuje,“ uviedla Frankovská.Frankovská vysvetlila aj pozadie vyhlásenia amerického prezidenta Donalda Trumpa o odtajnení dokumentov o UFO. „Ono to vzniklo pomerne zábavne, respektíve náhodne. Bývalý prezident Barack Obama totiž v jednom rozhovore odpovedal na otázku, či existujú mimozemšťania. Povedal, že verí, že vzhľadom na veľkosť vesmíru je to možné, ale ako prezident o ničom takom oficiálne nevedel a že neexistuje žiadna tajná základňa, kde by boli mimozemšťania,“ vysvetlila.Podľa nej Trump následne reagoval kriticky a vyhlásil, že chce dokumenty o UFO zverejniť. „Kritizoval ho za to, že zverejnil nejaké utajované informácie, a sám povedal, že nevie, ako to je. Zároveň vydal vyhlásenie, že nariadil odtajniť dokumenty súvisiace s potenciálnym tajným výskumom,“ dodala.Na otázku, aká je pravdepodobnosť existencie mimozemského života, reagoval teoretický fyzik Samuel Kováčik tým, že vzhľadom na obrovskú veľkosť vesmíru by bolo prekvapivé, keby bol život iba na Zemi. „Je to podľa mňa tak pravdepodobné, že by bolo veľmi prekvapivé, keby sme sa dozvedeli, že sme jediný život vo vesmíre. Vesmír je tak obrovský, obsahuje také množstvo galaxií a každá galaxia obsahuje obrovské množstvo hviezd. Tie majú okolo seba planéty, takže aj keď sme extrémne vyberaví v tom, aká planéta je vhodná pre život, pri tom obrovskom množstve to stále spĺňa veľké množstvo planét,“ vysvetlil.Zároveň však upozornil, že aj keď môže byť život vo vesmíre pomerne pravdepodobný, neznamená to, že s ním musíme byť v kontakte. „To je problém s civilizáciami, že sa na geologickej škále vyvíjajú strašne rýchlo. Za čas, kedy sa Tatry pohli o pár metrov, sme my zliezli zo stromov, vybudovali civilizáciu a letíme na Mesiac,“ povedal Kováčik.Podľa neho môže byť vývoj civilizácií v rôznych častiach vesmíru veľmi odlišný. „Keď sa pozriete inde vo vesmíre, kde sa miliardy rokov niečo dialo, očakávanie je skôr také, že tam nájdete extrémne jednoduchý život, alebo naopak tak pokročilý život, že ho ani nespoznáte,“ doplnil.

Moana & the Tribe have long been acknowledged for pushing the boundaries of Māori music. Led by Moana Maniapoto, the band has become one of New Zealand's most successful Māori bands, creating a fusion of politically charged haka-funk-dub music and performing all over the world. They're bringing their global collaboration ‘ONO' to Tāmaki Makaurau as part of the Auckland Arts Festival, and to mark International Women's Day. Na jednej strane neustále verbálne deklarujeme, že deti sú pre nás - i pre celú našu spoločnosť, tou absolútnou prioritou, témou tém, soľou zeme ako i našou budúcnosťou či nádejou. Na strane druhej, v realite, môžeme vidieť ako neustále narastá počet detí, ktoré sužujú vážne psychické a duševné problémy či dokonca stoja na samej hrane voľby medzi životom a nebytím. Trápi ich strach zo zlyhania, obavy z toho, že sklamú očakávania a - na dnešnú dobu plnú modernej komunikačnej techniky, paradoxne až neuveriteľná osamelosť.Zároveň registrujeme i narastajúci radikalizmus mládeže, ktorý už aj tu - na Slovensku, niekoľkokrát udrel s brutálne vražednou silou. K tomu treba prirátať stále pretrvávajúci problém šikany, tlaku od vysoko polarizovanej a frustrovanej spoločnosti nás dospelákov, ako i zlyhávajúci a až zúfalo nedostatočný systém pomoci pre deti vo vážnych ba dokonca až existenciálnych problémoch, ktoré až pričasto balansujú na samej hrane života a smrti. Áno, ide presne o tie deti, ktoré inak tak radi verbálne označujeme za to najdôležitejšie, čo ako spoločnosť vôbec máme. Naše vlastné deti. Čo teda tieto naše deti a našu mládež skutočne trápi, vieme to vôbec? A ako im v tom vieme reálne pomôcť - indviduálne, ale aj ako celá spoločnosť? No a ako si poradiť s týmto obdobím veľkých očakávaní ale i stretov snov, očakávaní s neraz šedivou až krutou realitou - teda sviatkami?Nám sa množia príbehy detí, ktoré chcú riešiť to, čo sa im deje, tak, že upozornia svet tým, že niekomu inému ublížia. Len aktuálne riešime takmer 50 takýchto príbehov. Situácia je naozaj veľmi vážna a náš systém dostatočne nereflektuje na tieto potreby ako i výzvy.
