It's that time of year again. In this special end-of-year episode, we look back at 2025 and break down our personal Top Horror Movies of the year — the films that scared us, surprised us, stuck with us, and refused to leave our heads long after the credits rolled. We keep things fun, talking about why certain movies hit hard, what trends defined the year, and how 2025 stacked up as a whole for modern horror. Some picks were obvious, others caused heated debate, and a few may catch you completely off guard.Along the way, we shout out a handful of honourable mentions — movies that narrowly missed the list but still deserve love — and discuss a couple of highly anticipated titles we wanted to watch but just couldn't fit in before the year wrapped. If you're looking for recommendations, curious where your favourites landed, or just want to argue with us from your headphones, this is the perfect way to close out the horror year.Hit play, settle in, and let's find out which films truly defined horror in 2025.If you enjoyed this - Check out my other content here - https://linktr.ee/FirstClassHorrorBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast--4295531/support.

A dark and twisted spin on everyone's favorite holidays in an anthology exploring traditions and what we've come to know and love.Holidays is a horror anthology that tells 8 tales based on several popular holidays including Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's Day. This film has a strong director lineup including stories from Kevin Smith, Adam Egypt Mortimer, Dennis Widmyer, and Scott Stewart among others, as well as some surprise acting appearances from Seth Green, Harley Morenstein, Sheila Vand, and Lorenza Izzo. While the movie had an interesting theme and some standout stories, it's a mixed bag with half of the stories unable to deliver and lacked a wrap around. How Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) Became Horror's Most Notorious Christmas Movie

In this episode, we unwrap one of the most infamous slashers of the 1980s — Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) — a film that didn't just shock audiences, but ignited a full-blown moral panic. We dig into the movie itself, from its mean-spirited kills and sleazy holiday setting to its strange, unforgettable characters and grim worldview. We break down what works, what's unhinged, and why — despite (or because of) its rough edges — it remains one of the most effective and enduring Christmas horror films ever made. Beyond the bloodshed, we explore the wild behind-the-scenes story: how the film was made, marketed, and almost destroyed by controversy. We talk about the infamous TV trailer that aired before family-friendly shows like Little House on the Prairie, why parents were outraged at the idea of Santa Claus as a slasher villain, and how protest groups successfully pressured theatres to pull the film from release just days after it opened. We also place Silent Night, Deadly Night within the wider context of the Video Nasties era, examining how fear-driven censorship, tabloid hysteria, and home video panic shaped the movie's legacy — and how later VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray releases helped reclaim it as a cult classic rather than a cultural punching bag. Finally, we make the case for why Silent Night, Deadly Night has stood the test of time: its bleak tone, its commitment to being genuinely uncomfortable. Love it or hate it, this is a movie that refused to behave — and that's exactly why it still matters.Whether you're a long-time defender or a first-time viewer, this episode dives deep into the film that turned Santa into a symbol of terror — and became horror's most notorious Christmas movie in the process. If you enjoyed this - Check out my other content here - https://linktr.ee/FirstClassHorrorBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast--4295531/support.

In this holiday-themed episode of How I Met Your Monster, Zach, Danny, and Casey unwrap Damien Leone's Terrifier 3, a Christmas-set descent into extreme horror led once again by Art the Clown. What begins as festive fun quickly turns into a debate about gore limits, audience intent, and what horror is supposed to make us feel. The hosts explore whether Terrifier 3 is simply a showcase for increasingly elaborate kills or a continuation of the franchise's growing mythos. While Casey celebrates the film as peak fan service and Art's strongest performance yet, Zach and Danny wrestle with visceral reactions, lingering violence, and the physical toll of watching the movie. Along the way, the conversation touches on Christmas horror traditions, MPAA censorship history, Freddy Krueger comparisons, and why Art the Clown has become one of modern horror's most recognizable icons.Love it or hate it, Terrifier 3 sparks exactly the kind of reaction it sets out to provoke—and this episode captures that tension in real time. Two children stay at their family cabin along with their father's girlfriend during a snowstorm. Tensions heighten when odd events occur which shakes their troubled relationship. The Lodge is a heavy movie that explores grief, loneliness, and guilt set in an isolated cabin in the middle of a snowstorm and delves into how these complex emotions can affect an already fragile relationship. The acting is great in this movie especially from Riley Keough, who plays Grace, a lone death cult survivor, who is trying to rebuild her life, but dealing with the lasting impact of her past. Shane's brother and frequent guest, Nick Smith, joins us to discuss how this movie creates a bleak atmosphere, builds tension, and delivers strong twists. Red Christmas is not only a holiday horror movie, but it also has one of the weirdest, most insane slasher backstories we've ever heard of. In this movie, a cloaked man stalks a family during Christmas, however, the storyline is that he is an abortion survivor come back for the love of his mother. This Christmas, we're heading deep underground to revisit one of the most overlooked holiday horror films of the 2000s.In this episode of ClassHorrorCast, we explore P2 (2007)—a tense, claustrophobic thriller set on Christmas Eve inside a lonely, echoing parking garage where escape feels impossible. We dig into the film's chilling blend of psychological horror and seasonal dread, the intense performances from Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley, and the behind-the-scenes influence of Alexandre Aja that shaped its tone and brutality.Along the way, we unpack how the movie's tight setting, gritty lighting, and growing sense of desperation create a uniquely unnerving Christmas atmosphere that most horror fans have sadly forgotten about.Whether you remember P2 from its original release or you're discovering it for the first time, this episode invites you to take a fresh look at a film that offers far more than its simple setup suggests. It's a story of survival, obsession, and holiday terror that deserves a place alongside the genre's festive classics. So grab a warm drink, settle in, and descend with us to Level P2 for a Christmas Eve you won't soon forget. If you enjoyed this - Check out my other content here - https://linktr.ee/FirstClassHorrorBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast--4295531/support.

After the arrival of strange creatures who use their strong hearing to hunt, a family fights to stay alive by living their lives in silence. A Quiet Place is directed by John Kraskinsi, who also stars in the film alongside Emily Blunt. While not his directorial debut, it's Krasinski's first horror movie and he makes an impact on the genre immediately. In what many, including us, believe is a modern day classic, Krasinski paints a sad world where a loving family is forced to live a silent existence in order to stay alive. This movie has so much going for it with excellent character development, interesting creatures, a theme of guilt that leads to an excellent conclusion, tense moments, and unique storytelling. The film doesn't overstay its welcome and while nobody expected something like this from Krasinski, it delivers in every way. YouTube | The Final PodcastDiscord | Spooky PiratesFacebook | The Final PodcastInstagram | thefinalpodcastMusic Credit: Karl Casey @ White Bat AudioWhat should we review next? Two young Mormon women discuss their faith in the house of a strange man who has plans to make it a night no one will forget.Heretic is a psychological horror movie like no other led by a strong and unlikely, Hugh Grant, performance. The film also stars Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East who also deliver strong performances in a movie that's highly dialogue-driven, but tense throughout. From the character expressions to the theological debates, this movie had us unconformable from start to finish and one that we believe is a modern classic. Although Jigsaw is dead, the games continue as Lieutenant Rigg is tested in order to save his colleagues. Saw IV  is the fourth installment in the Saw series and although it's not the best of the series, it's still fun and has tense moments and creative traps. As huge fans of these movies growing up, we love watching them and feeling the nostalgia of one of our favorite horror franchises. We still believe that Jigsaw is underrated in the world of horror villains even though the Saw movies are highly popular. As the series starts to move away from Jigsaw, he still makes an impression and the characters and storytelling are enjoyable.
