The Exorcist III (1990) kicks off our Devils & Dicks triple feature! We dive into William Peter Blatty's underrated horror sequel that trades demonic possession for police procedural tension - well, mostly.Ā Lieutenant Kinderman (George C. Scott) investigates a series of brutal murders that match the M.O. of the Gemini Killer, who died in the electric chair 15 years ago. His investigation leads him to a psychiatric ward and a mysterious patient who claims to be both the Gemini Killer and Father Damien Karras.Ā What We Cover:Director's Cut vs. Theatrical Cut: The battle between Blatty's vision and studio interference.Brad Dourif's bone-chilling performance and how he almost lost the role to Jason Miller.THAT jump scare—the famous Nurse Keating hallway scene that's considered one of horror's best. Why the forced exorcism ending works (or doesn't).The confusing K-name pattern and what it means.George C. Scott's intensity and whether he should've been kinder, man.Celebrity cameos you probably missed (Samuel L. Jackson! Patrick Ewing! Larry King!).The dream sequence with Fabio and whether it's too much. The Debate:Is The Exorcist III better than the original? Ā We discuss why this film's dreadful tone and procedural approach might actually make it superior, even if it doesn't have the cultural impact of Friedkin's classic.Ā Behind the Scenes Drama:We unpack the production chaos—how Jason Miller's health issues led to Brad Dourif's casting (then recasting), why Father Morning was added for the theatrical cut, and whether the director's cut ending would've been more powerful.Ā Eight Official Reveals:From Father Kanavan's confessional booth murder to Mrs. Clelia crawling on the ceiling, we rank all eight monster introductions and pick our favorites.Next Time:We continue Devils & Dicks with Se7en (1995) - David Fincher's masterpiece of detective horror! Silent Hill: Revelation - Better Than Its Reputation?

After the unexpected success of Silent Hill (2006), a sequel felt inevitable, but the road to Silent Hill: Revelation was anything but straightforward. In this episode of ClassHorrorCast, we revisit Silent Hill: Revelation and dig into the original plans for a very different sequel, the unfortunate circumstances that derailed them, and how multiple ideas were ultimately stitched together to bring the film we got to life.We explore how the movie pulls from Silent Hill 3 while also reshaping and retconning elements of the first film - changes that proved controversial with longtime fans of both the games and the 2006 adaptation. We break down the film's heavy use of CGI and 3D, looking at it as a product of its time and how those choices often overshadow some genuinely strong practical effects and creature work happening beneath the digital layers. From its shift toward a more action-driven approach to its reworking of lore, characters, and tone, we talk about what didn't land and what might have worked better with a different creative focus. But Revelation isn't without its strengths. We highlight the creatures, locations, and visual ideas that do feel authentically Silent Hill, and discuss the moments where the film briefly reconnects with the atmosphere and imagery that made the series so powerful in the first place.Beneath the noise, the spectacle, and the missteps, there's the framework of a solid little horror sequel trying to break through.Silent Hill: Revelation may never capture the slow, oppressive dread of its source material, but it remains a fascinating case study in adaptation, expectation, and how easily atmosphere can be lost in the pursuit of scale. If you enjoyed this - CLICK HEREBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast--4295531/support.

Teens headed to a football game find themselves holed up in an almost abandoned town with an odd wax museum. It's the 300th episode and to cap off Mike G's Wet Dream Month, we are discussingĀ House of Wax. This movie is a loose remake of House of Wax from 1953 and that movie is a remake of Mystery of the Wax Museum from 1933. As a movie that often gets some hate, we've always said it's one of the more underrated horror movies from the 2000s with a fun cast of Chad Michael Murray, Elisha Cuthbert, Jared Padalecki, Paris Hilton, and Robert Ri'chard. While it has some plot holes, it really delivers on everything 2000s horror had to offer and never ceases to entertain us. Send us a textWe again celebrate Giallo January, with a pair of gialli from 1972. A very restrained Lucio Fulci directorial effort brings us a series of child murders in a small Italian town, where superstition leads to distrust in Don't Torture a Duckling (1972). Our second featured giallo might have you asking, "Who the hell is Solange?" You will find out, eventually, if you can stomach seeing the graphic aftermath of a series of murders involving students from a girls' school in What Have You Done to Solange? (1972).

Few video game adaptations truly understand the source material — Silent Hill (2006) is one of the rare exceptions. This week on ClassHorrorCast, we descend into the fog to explore why Christophe Gans' Silent Hill has not only endured, but evolved into the gold standard for video game horror adaptations. We break down the film's deep lore, hidden meanings, and symbolic imagery, unpacking how the movie translates the unsettling psychology and atmosphere of the games to the big screen. We dig into the film's pre-production, the writing process, and the major creative choices that reshaped the games' narrative for cinema including what was changed, what was preserved, and why those decisions ultimately worked. From its commitment to practical effects and creature design to its oppressive soundscape and world-building, we examine how Silent Hill achieved an authenticity most adaptations never attempt. Finally, we discuss why the film has aged so well, how its reputation has grown over time, and why it continues to be cited as the strongest argument for the greatest video game adaptation of all time.Turn up the volume. The siren is calling. For more content - CLICK HEREBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast--4295531/support.

A group of friends start receiving voicemails from their future selves just moments prior to their deaths and then they start to die one after another. One Missed Call is the remake of a 2003 Japanese horror movie from director Takashi Miike and after watching this movie again, we come to the same conclusion. This movie has an interesting concept, but poor execution with a convoluted storyline, plots that lead nowhere, characters that are either developed badly or don't serve a purpose, and cringeworthy CGI. Multiple viewings of this movie haven't changed our opinion over the years and while it has a similar feel to movies like Final Destination, The Ring, and Feardotcom where there's a countdown to death, this film fails to deliver on an interesting premise. In this episode of How I Met Your Monster, we kick off our Scary Tales triple feature by diving into Neil Jordan's 1984 horror film The Company of Wolves. Inspired by Angela Carter's reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood, this surreal fairy-tale nightmare blends werewolves, dream logic, and body-horror transformations into one of the strangest films of the decade. We break down the film's seven monster reveals, unsettling werewolf transformation effects, and its controversial themes around puberty, repression, folklore, and gender roles. From wolves peeling out of human skin to dream-within-a-dream storytelling, The Company of Wolves challenges traditional fairy tales and refuses simple interpretations.Along the way, we connect the film to classic werewolf lore, fairy-tale history (Charles Perrault), and other surreal horror films that prioritize vibes over clarity. Is The Company of Wolves a feminist fairy tale? A disturbing coming-of-age story? Or just an aggressively weird werewolf movie? We don't fully agree—and that's the point. This film explores the idea of computers taking humans over, leaving it up to high school kids at a party to save each other. This movie features coming-of-age elements as well as silly jokes with nostalgia often being forced in just in case anyone forgot when the movie was taking place.
