Jesus' ascension doesn't mean that he's no longer here; instead, Paul insists in his letter to the Ephesians that it means he now fills all things. In other words, Jesus can now be everywhere where his word is preached, his sacraments are celebrated, and his people are gathered in his name. Scrpiture:Ephesians 1: 3 - 14 (NRSV)Spiritual Blessings in Christ3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight 9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, 12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; 14 this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.Worship Set:“This Is Amazing Grace” - Josh Farro, Jeremy Riddle, Phil Wickham“For Unto Us A Child Is Born / Open The Eyes Of My Heart” - George Frideric Handel, Michael Rossback, Paul Baloche“King Of Kings” - Brooke Ligertwood, Scott Ligertwood, Jason Ingram“O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” - John Mason Neale, Thomas Helmore, Matt Maher“Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” - Charles Wesley, Rowland H. This week in worship we continue to explore the rich and fertile darkness of Advent, hearing with Mary the invitation to partner with God in offering a home for God-with-us in her own body. And we experience a pageant like we've never done it before! Our families rose to the challenge of enacting and dramatizing the Christmas story from their own homes, speaking and acting and creating something our whole congregation could enjoy. --Pageant begins at minute 20:20.Scripture: Luke 1.26-56Image:--Permission to podcast the music in this service obtained from One License with license #A-726929. When I was in high school, my piano teacher had me learn Chopin's "Fantasie Impromptu." It's a fun piece where the left hand plays triplets while the right hand plays sixteenth notes. It may be what enabled me to be the youngest student ever accepted into the Eastman School of Music. There's a recording of me playing this in the "music" section of my website. So it's been especially meaningful for me to play this arrangement of "Come, Thou Long-expected Jesus". The original song was written by Rowland H. Prichard. This arrangement was written by Carolyne M. Taylor "For a special friend, Violet Gail Tobey."

Welcome—Thanks for tuning into Redeemer Al Ain’s online service. Our church is currently meeting in person with restrictions on Thursdays from 6:30–7:30pm at the Al Ain Evangelical Church Centre. (For more information about the restrictions click here). As pastors, we also understand that different people have different circumstances and comfort levels for in-person gatherings. We do not want to pressure anyone to attend who would not feel comfortable. We will continue to post the service online so that people can participate digitally. In this service Pastor John Norris is preaching on Genesis 15 God’s Great Guarantee. We’d love to connect with you if you have any questions.
