Because Christmas falls on a Wednesday, we are going to air this episode one day early. The HCWC's gift to you. Inspired by the TRUE story found in Luke 1 - 2. This is an unrehearsed, unscripted Christmas Pageant. Krissy Bakke, Hippie Christian and three of her grandkids decided the best way to celebrate Christmas is to tell the story. It's messy, but so was Jesus' entry into this world. Enjoy it and keep sharing Jesus with all. Merry Christmas Friends!

You know how there's always that one kid who ends up being the star of the Christmas concert? Well, this year it was a little girl named Stori. She's only four, and after the concert, she grabbed the mic to give a shoutout to her classmates. She started off so sweet, praising everyone, and just when she was about to spill some serious tea about one of her classmates... yep, the principal stepped in. Talk about a mic drop moment! We'll just have to wonder what she was going to say!

It's Advent 2024 and Advent is all about anticipation, expectation, and preparing for someone important to show up - and that important someone during Advent is God. When you think about the future, either today or the next year of 2025 unfolding, are you anticipating, expecting or even preparing for God to show up?

Subscribe today for access to our full catalog of bonus episodes, including 2+ new episodes every month! www.patreon.com/boysbiblestudy We pride ourselves on staying on the cutting edge of Christmas movies, especially those made for Christians by Christians. That's why we were excited to visit our local theater to see the new, widely-released Dallas Jenkins film based on the popular children's novel of the same name. Originally authored by Barbara Robinson in 1972, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER tells the story of the Herdman family, affectionately dubbed “the worst kids in the world”. The Herdmans effectively run their small town of Emmanuel because no one can control their bad behavior. The town always had a sanctuary away from the mischief in church, but this seal was broken when the Herdman kids discovered the free snacks offered and insisted on participating in the yearly Christmas pageant. A cherished town tradition in Emmanuel, the Herdmans risk destroying the Christmas Pageant through their destructive irreverence, but instead their sincere, outsider curiosity about Christianity ends up winning over the hearts and minds of the rest of the congregation, creating a special memory of THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER. Director Dallas Jenkins (son of Jerry B. Jenkins, co-author of the original LEFT BEHIND book series) was apparently so passionate about bringing THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER to life on film that he set a daily reminder in his phone to pray for acquiring the rights to the story. It's a shame that this passion didn't manifest in the final project, which is styled so blandly and portrayed so literally to the text that the story comes across as cruel and inhumane toward the Herdmans instead of whimsical. As we enter the Christmas season, it's a time to reflect on the light of the world, Jesus Christ, and how His presence transforms our lives. The story of the shepherds in Luke 2 serves as a powerful reminder of the initial encounter with the divine light. The shepherds, upon witnessing the glory of the Lord, were compelled to seek out the Savior, illustrating the importance of moving beyond a single encounter with God to a life of continual seeking. This journey of seeking is not just about reliving past experiences but about setting ourselves up for new and greater encounters with God. The Christmas story, as depicted in the movie "The Christmas Pageant," highlights the transformative power of encountering Jesus. The orphans in the story, unfamiliar with the Christmas narrative, find themselves in roles that lead them to a deeper understanding of the story of Jesus. This mirrors our own spiritual journey, where initial encounters with Christ should propel us into a life of seeking Him more deeply. The danger lies in becoming stagnant, in allowing a past encounter to define our entire spiritual journey, rather than using it as a stepping stone to further growth. The Greek word "zetao," meaning to seek, encapsulates the essence of our spiritual journey. It calls us to set ourselves in order to find God continually. Our encounters with God should lead us into seasons of seeking, where we align our lives to pursue Him with greater fervor. This seeking is not just about finding answers but about deepening our relationship with God, allowing His light to illuminate our path continually. The story of Saul's transformation into Paul in Acts 9 further illustrates the journey from being a seer to a seeker. Saul's initial encounter with the light of Christ was a catalyst for a life of seeking, leading to profound transformation. This narrative encourages us to move beyond distractions and to focus on seeking God, trusting that in our seeking, we will find Him and experience new and greater encounters. As we celebrate the light of the world this Christmas, let us commit to being seekers of God, setting ourselves in order to find Him continually. In doing so, we open ourselves to the fullness of His presence and the transformative power of His light in our lives.

Two Sundays ago, after the Christmas Pageant, one of the children in the cast came up to me in the fellowship hall. “I have a question,” she said. “What's your question?” “So, Jesus is alive?” I nodded. She thought about it for a moment. Clearly this hadn't been her question. “Well,” she said, “if Jesus is alive, then how come we can't see him?” I knelt over and I leaned in towards her and I whispered, like this was a secret too special to share. “Actually,” I said, “you *can* see him; in fact, you *did* see him just last Sunday.” “I did?” I nodded. “Yes, of course,” I said. “He was that bread on the table and the cup next to it. Jesus is alive and that's the form – one of them, anyway – his body takes now.” She nodded. “Oh, cool,” she said. And then she ran off as quickly as a magi from the manger.
