We cut contact for about a year, I moved interstate, and life went on. Then at the end of 2023, he unblocked me on socials and slid back into my life… and honestly, it’s been like no time has passed. We’re best friends, he’s my ride-or-die, my confidant — but the elephant in the room is that the attraction never actually went away. It’s not just platonic, and we both know it. Here’s where it gets spicy: I recently told him I’m demisexual and haven’t had sex in over a year. His response? He basically volunteered as tribute to ‘help me get back in the game.’ On one hand, I trust him more than anyone, and the idea is… let’s just say, not unappealing. It’s been one year and I can’t look at them, I don’t have any printed around the house, none are saved on my phone, none were posted on socials. How do I move on from this and how do I forgive my husband? Those 30 people will never be in Italy together again. We can’t redo them. I’m truly devastated. It’s been one year and I still hate them. For context the mums don’t get along when they drink. We decided to just have the hens without the parents and have no other events. (I said I would not plan two hens as it wouldn’t be as special the second time). Now with two months out from the wedding she has asked me to plan a bridal shower for the mums to attend to have a special day for them. AITA for not putting in the same effort or money into the bridal shower as I am for the hens? JP Morgan, in its legal battle with the U.S. Virgin Islands, alleged that Jeffrey Epstein wielded outsized influence over local officials and used his wealth to bend the territory's government to his will. Court filings accused Epstein of cultivating cozy relationships with USVI leadership, pouring money into charities, and leveraging donations to secure favorable treatment. According to the bank's claims, Epstein wasn't just a wealthy resident — he was essentially a political power broker, able to shape policy and deflect scrutiny even after his 2008 conviction. This narrative painted the islands not as an innocent victim of Epstein's crimes but as an active partner that tolerated, and in some cases allegedly enabled, his activities because of the money and influence he brought.One of the most disturbing allegations JP Morgan raised was that Epstein tried to directly manipulate the territory's sex offender laws. The filings claim he lobbied for changes that would have made it easier for him to move in and out of the islands without the restrictions normally placed on registered offenders. In practice, this would have weakened oversight of his travel and residency, allowing him to continue operating with far less interference. Barbara Ives, Lay Worship Leader Worship service given August 31, 2025 Prayer by Barbara Ives, Lay Worship Leader https://firstparish.info/ First Parish A liberal religious community, welcoming to all First gathered 1739 Empathy has been a big topic in recent social media spaces. Now, a new movement among Christian nationalists says that empathy is a sin. Barbara discusses this great tool for relating to one another, despite our differences. During the summer our Zoom-only worship is led each week by a member of our congregation. Barbara Ives is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist. She just started attending Arlington this last January. However, she grew up in the Wayland Church and then attended the Watertown church for many years. From 1997 to 2003 she attended Harvard Divinity school in hopes of pursuing UU ministry. Life took a different path and she did not get ordained. After many years being away from the church, coming back to Arlington feels like coming home. She is glad for this opportunity to exercise her ministerial muscles. Offering and Giving First The Giving First program donates 50% of the non-pledge offering each month to a charitable organization that we feel is consistent with Unitarian Universalist principles. The program began in November 2009, and First Parish has donated over $200,000 to more than 70 organizations. For September, the Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) will share half the plate. Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) is the first and only organization dedicated to preventing sexual violence systemically. As a national nonprofit, they work to prevent sexual violence before it happens by addressing root causes like rape culture and systemic oppression. Their work spans policy advocacy, research, institutional reform, and community education to create lasting, structural change. SVPA partners with schools, workplaces, unions, and government agencies to implement evidence-based prevention strategies and is proudly led by marginalized survivors—including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled people—ensuring that their work is informed by the lived experiences of those most impacted. The secondary school teachers union is confident its members will take its advice and reject the Government's latest agreement offer.
