We had a blast talking with Megan Mackie, Samara Breger, Melanie Moschella, Tamara Jerée at the first ever Romantasy Fest at Otherworld Theatre. We dished about Romantasy history both public and personal, influences, Romantasy vs. supernatural, comparing fantasy and romance, and the unique process of authoring a romance novel. A note on sound - we recorded the panel using one mic, so the sound isn't what you're used to with our show. It is worth the listen, though!

Ask and ye shall receive! Following a special episode of The Chatroom with Drew Barrymore, which went live a few weeks ago after months and months of toiling with the expansive range of topics that were covered during our conversation in December, the longer-form podcast episode is here for your ear (plugs). If I'm being really honest, sitting down with Drew following a particularly tumultuous month was like Xanax for my soul -- there is an undeniable warmth about the way in which she looks at you (and into your soul, frankly), a true earnestness when she not just sympathizes but also empathizes with what you want to say, and you always get the sense, no matter what she's talking about, that it's coming from the heart. Have a listen and then nod in agreement as I say: We are all Josie Grossie. This episode of Monocycle was edited by Samara Breger. Logo illustration by Kelly Shami.

When Zero Mostel was under trial by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee in 1955, the committee asked what he was doing at an anti-HUAC meeting. Mostel replied: "What if I did an imitation of a butterfly at rest? There is no crime in making anybody laugh." In this Popcast, hear about Mostel's dedication to the absurd. He exposed real life absurd situations of the McCarthy era by talking back, and brought out the human truth to absurd characters like Eugene Ionesco's "Rhinoceros" on stage. This episode was produced by Samara Breger with archival audio from the Studs Terkel Radio Archive from the WFMT Radio Network in Chicago. (Visit them at www.studsterkel.org.) The final story of our series is about two people who took a one day’s love and tried to make it last for ever. Sarah and Kim were braver than most of us. Instead of leaving the one day’s love to linger in their memories and fantasies of accidental future meetings, they moved in together. They uhauled it. After the lake and 6 weeks of talking on the phone every day, Sarah amtraked to the big city and settled in to the apartment they signed a year’s lease for. They hadn’t even slept together yet. But they were crazy about each other. They wanted more. They wanted it all. The great question: is chemistry enough to get through the yet unknown interpersonal frictions and differences? This episode of The Heart is secretly called 9-1-1 Vox Pop, produced at the last minute with the help of some very talented individuals. First, the music. The music was originally composed for the episode by the incredible Matthew Daher. He just released an EP called Dwelling Lightheartedly In the Futility of Everything. Go get it. You also heard music at the beginning by Man Meets Bear, who also released a new album recently called Wagaskina. It’s also fucking awesome. So many thanks: editorial genius as always by Mitra Kaboli and Sharon Mashihi. The team and beyond who helped get this episode together: Samara Breger, Jen Ng, Shira Bannerman, Megan Detrie, Julia Murphy, Martin Johnson, Ido Fluk, Hana Crawford and Brendan Baker who gives me advice all the time about everything.
