the mystery revealed--The mission embraced--maturity pursued
Main Point: The mature in Christ recognize that Jesus is enough. 1. You need Jesus (1:24-29) 2. No less, and no more (2:1-5)
Pastor Greg continues our sermon series through the letter to the Colossians and remind us, that as image bearers of God, like Paul, Jesus reorients our priorities to align with God's heart and mission for the church, even to the point of being willing to struggle and to join Christ in his sufferings to live it out in every area of our lives.

Paul gives us very clear instructions in Colossians 1 and 2 about living life, united, in the church, through Christ. Unfortunately, we tend to lose sight of that instruction and focus on lesser things instead of focusing on Christ. Let's dive into God's word and see if we can find a way to remain united even in the midst of disagreement.

Paul says he rejoices in his suffering. How and why does he say this? Are we supposed to rejoice in our own suffering? And is rejoicing different than loving, promoting, inventing, or denying suffering?

What are a pastor’s chief aspirations for the people of God?
To His saints God chose to make know how great among the gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery. Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. Colossians 1:27-28

Jesus calls for unity in the church. Unity in relationship with Him is a critical beginning, but TRUE UNITY in the bride comes when we have Christ centered relationship with each other!
What we do on Sunday mornings is odd, at least to outsiders (and sometimes to us!). We gather, pray, sing, and then open a 2,000-year-old letter, from someone we have never met to people we know little about. And we think that this has meaning for us! Why do we care what Paul says? What good is Paul for us? Much, in every way, as we will hopefully see today.
The Apostle Paul's ministry was a stewardship given to him by God for the sake of others. And it involved suffering and struggles in which he had to endure to fulfill his mission of making the word of God known to the Gentiles. Followers of Christ can expect suffering and struggles as well. And they too should see themselves as stewards of the gospel message and seek to be faithful messengers.

What is the mystery that Paul discusses in Colossians and what does it mean to have "Christ in us?"
If we are going to struggle why waist our time on the wrong things and why not have an attitude that rejoices?
