We are back! The Sabres select 3 centers in the first round of the NHL draft. Nick and Andrew break down what they thought of each selection and if they were shocked the team didn't move any picks. Victor Olofsson, Craig Anderson, Vinnie Hinostroza and Jacob Bryson have all been re-signed. Kevyn Adams adds a new goalie and right shot defenseman in free agency. The guys discuss bringing back primarily the same roster, the goalie situation and what to look forward to. With Ottawa, Montreal, Columbus and Detroit all getting better, Nick poses the question to Andrew about what expectations for this team should be this year. Finally, we close the show talking about some training camp position battles to look out for as the Bills season is right around the corner. Thank you so much for listening. If you missed our previous episode, you missed out on when we called for Mattias Samuelsson and Jack Quinn to be called up to stay a while and that's just what the Sabres did! With... some unfortunate luck, of course. Here's the rundown for this week's episode for you hunt-and-peck listeners:0:00 - Let's relive Risto Day and remember his glorious (???) Sabres era. 8:00 - Peyton Krebs busted out big time against Philly and that's pretty meaningful even if it's just against the Flyers. 26:10 - The highs and lows of Jack Quinn showing out against Dallas and his injury. Why, yes, we did talk about how the Sabres play on haunted ground because how else do you wind up with 12 players on the injured list!? 37:45 - The return of Craig Anderson is nigh and this is a really good time for him to showcase his talents for trade deadline day. 45:00 - Speaking of the trade deadline, let's get the hot stove warmed up and discuss: if the Sabres are crazy if they think they're getting a first round pick for Colin Miller, not weaponizing their cap space, and would you rather get picks or prospects in future deals.55:50 - Mattias Samuelsson looks pretty, pretty good! See also: Jack Quinn and Ryan Johnson. Maybe rushing to judgment immediately on draft day isn't a great way to spend time. I know, we're ruining everyone's fun -- deal with it.1:10:55 - Can you think of a Sabres prospect who's taken a step back this year? Might be pretty difficult to do that. Plus some words on Aaron Huglen at Minnesota. 1:14:10 - Let's wrap 'er up fellas. It's Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author, sports media personality and friend Joe Yerdon to talk about a variety of topics, including the Buffalo Sabres continuing to impress their fans and those around the league, the Buffalo Bills back in action this weekend against a down-and-out divisional rival, what Joe's up to with his Noted Hockey substack and a “Starting Five” draft consisting of Favorite Halloween treats. As of this taping the Sabres have went 4-1-1 through their first six games and the start has caught the eyes of critics and fans alike. Joe discusses that while the percentage of winning is very likely unsustainable the compete level the team shows under Don Granato should keep endearing them to fans they're desperately trying to win back. They also talk Craig Anderson being a rock in net early, the great starts of J.J. Peterka and Jack Quinn in Rochester as well as the Sabres surprisingly fast start not showing good dividends at the box office. They also discuss the Buffalo Bills and a very wide open AFC, who is currently the biggest obstacle to the Bills getting to a Super Bowl, have a very spirited "Starting Five" draft of Favorite Halloween candy and tons more.  Follow Joe on Twitter @JoeYerdon and make sure to subscribe to his Noted Hockey substack. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets.
