After a tight vote the rebooted "Planet of the Apes" Franchise was chosen for the April MOTM. Charlton Heston will not be making an appearance, at least not as a featured player in today's podcast. Roddy McDowell will not be trying on a leisure suit or leading a revolution of house pets in any of the films we talk about today. The star of these movies is clearly Andy Serkis, who plays the ape Caesar, in a motion capture performance in all three films: Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes. Matthew Simpson of the Awesome Friday Podcast is the host, he is joined by Nicole Ayers and Sean Homrig (for most of the show) as well as Richard. Get ready to go Ape for these movies.
POP ART 111 says SOAPY SALES: Join me and my guest Sam Homrig (attorney by day, murder mystery host by night as well as co-host of “The Cabot Cove Confab Podcast”, “The Columbo Confab Podcast”, and “The Best Picture Podcast”) “We were just playing a game called Photography. You turn off the lights and see what develops.” Lies, deceit, adultery, murder, teen sex, drugs, abortion by proxy, incest by proxy, illegitimate children, coded gay characters…Sounds like it's time for Episode 111 of Pop Art, the podcast where we find the pop culture in art and the art in pop culture. It's the podcast where my guest chooses a movie from popular culture, and I'll select a film from the more art/classic/indie/foreign side of cinema with a connection to it. For this episode, I am happy to welcome as my guest, Sean Homrig, who has chosen as his film Ang Lee's dissection of suburban life in 1970s Connecticut, The Ice Storm, while I have chosen Mark Robson's dissection of small town New England life in the 1940s, Peyton Place, both soap opera looks at small towns. And in this episode, we answer such questions as: What scandal made Peyton Place one of the top grossing movies of that year? Why are soap operas so appealing? What rating from the Catholic Church was given to Peyton Place? What are the anachronisms and historical inaccuracies of both films? What Cannes award did The Ice Storm receive? What changes from the book did they make in bringing Peyton Place to the screen? What is inaccurate about the death in The Ice Story? How many Oscar acting nominations did Peyton Place receive? Be sure and check out Sean's various podcasts, “The Cabot Cove Confab Podcast”, “The Columbo Confab Podcast”, and “The Best Picture Podcast”. We have a full complement of suspects to discuss the first feature film from the Coen Brothers. It is also the debut film of Frances McDormand. This is a deep in the heart of Texas Neo Noir that subverts location and the femme fatale tropes and gives us something new in the thriller field. Sean Homrig, as the champion of the film, hosts the discussion with longtime Lamb Daniel Lackey, back for an episode. Jess Manzo returns to her regular spot on the MOTM rotation, as does Nick Rehak. James Wilson puts a cap on the guest and leaves his lighter to prove he was here.

Richard and Guests, Nolan and Sean Homrig, wander around the cinemascape looking at little discussed movies from the past to the present. From kung fu canines to wacky westerns, you should join us as we take some roads less traveled.
Today's episode might be a repeat for others and a brand new one for the rest of you. The Vern was joined by Sean Homrig of 1001 Movies Podcast(https://1001moviespodcast.libsyn.com/) to talk about the 80's murder mystery comedy, Clue. We had a lot of fun talking about our favorite moments from this movie and The Vern learned a lot about the many different versions of the board game from guest Sean as well. Thank you for listening. … in which The Doctor and Bill find themselves on the menu once again. JB is joined by Sean Homrig, co-host of The TARDIS Tavern Podcast, for a review of “Knock Knock”.
… in which our fearless podcaster has something in his eye (It's sleep dust, dammit! Not tears - I swear!) as he bids a somber farewell to the Impossible Girl. It's a review of "Sleep No More" (with special guest Sean Homrig of "The TARDIS Tavern" and "The Doctor Who Book Club" podcasts) and "Face The Raven".
On the twelfth edition of Reality Bomb, Graeme Burk looks back at 30 years of being a Doctor Who fan with a special documentary about how being a Doctor Who fan has changed over the decades. We also talk with Sam Maggs and Mike Doran about the winners and losers in the Doctor Who Magazine poll and Felicity Kuzinitz sends us on a quest to find The Keys of Marinus in this months Gallery of the Underrated. All this plus comedy from Liz Myles, Bill Evenson, Scot Clarke, Sean Homrig and Laura Gerald... and Alex Kennard finally sings the song he was supposed to have sung last month!
As a bit of a treat before our canonical episode next week, he's a discussion Erik had at Gallifrey One with his Doctor Who Book Club co-host Sean Homrig and authors of the book Who's 50, Graeme Burk and Robert Smith?. They talk about writing and writers. It's a good time.
Despite the Doctor Who world being split between multiple conventions this weekend (or because of it), the news was a bit thin this week, but that didn't stop the Three Who Rule from spinning their creative wheels in new and exciting directions, including the creation of Sofa-ism, a philosophy based on sitting around on your couch. Canada's national shame, otherwise known as Nickelback, was also name checked far more than necessary (ie. at all.) All this and an appearance from Sean Homrig of the Tardis Tavern podcast for our Name of the Doctor commentary! The mind reels at the riches in store for you. Next week: the producer Miniscopes begin in earnest! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
