As part of our new series, which we'll be doing one week per month, we're talking about an off the beaten path site in Rome and several in Turin. Because this episode publishes on Friday the 13th, we thought we'd talk about something a little otherworldly: alchemy and magic! First we'll tell you the tale of the Alchemist's Door in Rome and where to find it. Then we're talking about Turin, it's mythical alchemical caves and where to find the so called "centers of light and dark magic" in the city. We're starting a new series called "Off the Beaten Path." This is our first episode of the series and we're talking about the pyramid of Cestius in Rome. If you've been to Rome, you might have seen it and wondered why there's a pyramid in the middle of the city. Well, wonder no longer! We'll also briefly talk about the cemetery for non-Catholics in Rome and where the steps of the Vatican came from. Most of the fear that stops you isn't real. It's just unfamiliar. And unfamiliar doesn't mean dangerous. Show Notes In this episode of Shark Theory, Baylor shares a lesson learned while hiking off the beaten path with Bear and how it directly applies to stepping into new territory in life. When you leave familiar routines and predictable paths, your senses wake up. Every sound feels louder. Every unknown feels bigger. What once felt safe suddenly feels risky. And when that happens, your mind fills in the gaps with worst-case scenarios. But most of the time, what you think is a monster is just a squirrel. Baylor explains how staying on the same route every day causes your brain to shut down, crave comfort, and resist change. That's why people stay in jobs they hate, relationships that drain them, and routines that numb them. Comfort becomes more important than growth. The moment you step into unfamiliar territory, your awareness returns. Your capacity expands. You start to realize how much more you're capable of when you're fully awake. This episode is a reminder that growth lives off the beaten path, that help is closer than you think, and that trusting people who know the terrain can make all the difference. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why unfamiliar situations trigger unnecessary fear How routine causes mental shutdown and complacency Why growth requires stepping off the safe path The importance of trusting people with real experience How to tell the difference between real danger and imagined fear Why most obstacles are smaller than you think once you face them Featured Quote "Don't let squirrels turn into monsters just because you've never walked this path before."

FIFA Peace Award. The Inaugural BS Peace Award given to Donald Trump, because he was passed over for a Nobel Peace Prize. Laughable. Deserving of a SNL skit. The Ukraine/Russian war. IT’S OVER. No negotiations. Russia will get what it wants. Trump”s Big Beautiful PEACE Nothing Burger, has NO Meat; Loaded with Onions. A Venezuelan War? I hope not….. 100 % ILLEGAL.
We are debating the UCMJ,( Uniform Code of Military Justice), on carrying out Needless / Senseless Killings, as being lawful? Pete Hegseth hangs himself on his own 2016 speech when he said…. NEVER follow unlawful orders. Would attacking Venezuela be considered a War Crime? Donald Trump’s Plan: How many diversion stories this week, to lead us away from the Epstein files and Gaza?
Donald Trump’s rude and disrespectful behavior to a Female, for a question addressing the release of the Epstein Files. Quiet Quiet Piggy, (Catherine Lacey… Bloomberg), Donald Trump fighting tooth and nail to keep the Epstein Files hidden…? A Strange action for a File that contains nothing, and is a Democrat Hoax. Donald Trump sure has his panty hose in a Twist over this file. Donald Trump’s Extrajudicial Killings on the open seas is ILLEGAL, and there is NO Debating the issue. Illegal is Illegal. Happy Thanksgiving to the RBN listener Family, and be grateful for what rights and freedoms we have left. Remember…. You can lose the battle, and still win the war. As Johnny Mercer sang…. Accentuate the Positive.
Born from a wine import business and shaped by deep relationships with multi‑generational wineries, Joy of Wine Journeys built a premium, multi‑day model with a ~75% repeat rate. Natalie shares why they skip big cities, how “depth over density” creates value, and how pricing, partnerships, feedback, and tight ops compound into growth.Top 10 takeaways1) Repeat guests keep coming back. About 75% rebook, often bringing friends and family. Nail the first trip and lifetime value follows.2) Win the in between. Don't try to run Paris or Venice. Guests fly into a gateway, then the tour connects the regions in between where long winery relationships unlock access and stories.3) Fewer stops, deeper moments. Five wineries in ten days. Hosted visits. Family meals. Time to linger. People remember conversations and rituals, not mileage.4) Price for the value you deliver. Raise prices as the experience improves. Let booking behavior and guest comments set the ceiling, not nerves.5) Partners make you resilient. When a bus failed, local partners mobilized vans, cold water, and support within the hour. Good relationships turn problems into loyalty moments.6) Feedback is the roadmap. Debrief during and after each tour, then keep, change, or cut. Trim bloat, smooth pacing, and upgrade hotels, meals, wines, and transport.7) Know who you serve. Average age ~63. Well traveled. Hungry for hosted, exclusive experiences without snobbery. Design pacing, teaching, and access for that person.8) Confirm, confirm, confirm. Book a year out, then reconfirm at six months, three months, one month, and day‑of. Fewer surprises. Smoother days.9) Help in the cities even if you don't operate there. Refer guests to vetted guides in Venice, Milan, Paris, Nice, and Florence so the whole trip feels looked after.10) Use tech to support margins, not as the magic. TravelJoy for CRM, WeTravel for euro payments, Travelfy for itineraries, QuickBooks for the back office. The differentiator is still access, hosting, and relationships.

This is a tax on Americans. So if you love CDs, remember that the prices will go up. So please support those higher priced CDs. But there is an option for those who don't want to buy CDs and for those who want a better alternative for the environment. It's the Album Pin. Album Pins are lapel pins themed to a particular album. If you're working on your Switzerland itinerary and want to go beyond the usual tourist stops, this episode is for you! I'm sharing three destinations I recently visited that completely charmed me, each one offering something a little different, a little quieter, and a lot more local.First up is Savognin, a peaceful alpine village in Parc Ela that's close to the Landwasser Viaduct, a must-see if you love scenic train views or hiking. It's a great place to slow down and enjoy nature.Next, I take you to Lenk Switzerland in the Bernese Oberland. It's one of those Swiss ski towns that's perfect for families, with wide open spaces and a relaxed vibe. I stayed at the beautiful Lenkerhof Gourmet Spa Resort and can't wait to tell you all about it.And finally, we head to Winterthur, just a short train ride from Zürich. It's full of culture, cozy cafes, and some amazing Switzerland museums. I stayed at the lovely Park Hotel Winterthur, which I highly recommend. If you're dreaming of authentic Swiss towns and villages, beautiful landscapes, or relaxing family ski resorts, these spots deserve a place in your Switzerland vacation.Safe travels,Carolyn
Sometimes being lost isn't failure—it's freedom. The best views, lessons, and growth often come when you step off the path everyone else is on. Show Notes: In this introspective Shark Theory episode, Baylor Barbee takes a morning walk with his dog Bear that turns into a life lesson about uncertainty, perspective, and purpose. What started as a detour through unfamiliar terrain became a powerful reminder that being "off track" doesn't always mean you're behind—it might mean you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Through encounters with wildlife and an unexpected birdwatcher, Baylor explores the difference between fear and perspective, showing how a change in mindset can turn panic into peace. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why feeling "lost" often signals growth, not failure How adrenaline and fear can distort perception The beauty of getting off the path and exploring new territory Why comparing your journey to others only slows your progress How to stay calm and confident when you can't see what's ahead Featured Quote: "Just because we're on the same path doesn't mean we have the same destination. Sometimes getting lost is how you find what's truly meant for you."
