Crime Groupers! Former Loveline engineer Anderson Cowan stopped by to talk about his new dark comedy Groupers. Where does a phobia stem from? Is it the result of a person's deeply buried secret? Can that phobia be conquered through extreme means? What new and unique ways can a Chinese finger trap be used? Find out in our interview! Groupers will be having its premiere in LA on September 28th with a wider release set for October 3rd Synopsis: The film centers around two all-American high school jocks Brad and Dylan (Peter Mayer-Klepchick and Cameron Duckett) who are out for a night on the town when they are approached by the beautiful and seductive Meg (Nicole Dambro) at a local bar.  Ready for what they hope will be a night to remember, the guys are subsequently kidnapped, drugged and awaken tied up face to face in an abandoned pool in the middle of nowhere. Absurdity and insanity ensue as we learn that Orin (Jesse Pudles), Meg’s overly flamboyant brother has been the target of Brad and Dylan’s homophobic bullying and that Meg is actually a grad student who plans to perform a psychological and somewhat sadistic experiment on them as part of her thesis, which poses the question, “is homosexuality a choice”.

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are keeping up their social distance with another adapted podcast where they watch a classic movie and a cult movie for their ribald discussion. This week the classic is Billy Wilder's "Sunset Blvd." and the cult movie is the alien-leech-exploding-head 1986 film, "Night of the Creeps." Can both find a way to be slightly boring? We'll find out! Available on Spotify and iTunes Episode 261 includes: -Is fake boob prostetics in movies and TV getting better? WHAT AN AGE WE LIVE IN. -Ben recommends "Come to Daddy" and not "Groupers." -Nate thinks "Extraction" is a mix of cool movie violence and real-world serious violence that doesn't quite work. -Classic Movie -- "Sunset Blvd." (1950) -The guys discuss Billy Wilder's classic about a faded Hollywood star trying to make her big comeback. -Cult Movie -- "Night of the Creeps" (1986) -It's got alien slugs, head explosions, gratuitous nudity, so why does this movie seem so dull?

Welcome to Season 2 with Episode 2! Episodes 1 and 2 both released the same day all about the new film Groupers. Episode 1 featured the leading actress from Groupers and this episode follows with the screenwriter and director of the film-Anderson Cowan! Learn all about the making of the film and what Anderson's true intentions were while writing the script.   Groupers is a film centers around two all-American high school jocks Brad and Dylan (Peter Mayer-Klepchick and Cameron Duckett) who are out for a night on the town when they are approached by the beautiful and seductive Meg (Nicole Dambro) at a local bar. Ready for what they hope will be a night to remember, the guys are subsequently kidnapped, drugged and awaken tied up face to face in an abandoned pool in the middle of nowhere. Absurdity and insanity ensue as we learn that Orin (Jesse Pudles), Meg’s overly flamboyant brother has been the target of Brad and Dylan’s homophobic bullying and that Meg is actually a grad student who plans to perform a psychological and somewhat sadistic experiment on them as part of her thesis, which poses the question, “is homosexuality a choice”.The Cinequest Film Festival referred to the film in its 2018 line up as “a rare, highly original, and super-charged dark comedy that will keep you guessing and contemplating the provocative, yet crucial themes at its essence”. Our latest podcast topic comes courtesy of Patreon Not Fenimore, who's asked us to take a look at one of film history's most legendary, acclaimed trilogies: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather, Part II (1974), and The Godfather, Part III (1990). And lest you think that the internet can't possibly need another analysis of the Godfather films, there's a twist: for one of our trio (not naming names!) this will be the very first time seeing these monolithic classics. As an added bonus, we talked to Anderson Cowan of The Film Vault podcast, on the occasion of his leap into feature filmmaking with Groupers. Grab your tickets to the theatrical release while you can! Episode 039: Vertical Jigging Tips and Techniques: Selecting Vertical Jig Assist Hooks

Good Karma Sportfishing

Selecting the right vertical jig assist hook is very important. In this podcast I share my personal experiences with using both Braided Dacron and Kevlar Assist hooks. Braided Dacron Assist Cord Below are my reasons for the for why I discontinued using Vertical Jig Braided Dacron Assist Cords When vertical jig fishing the wrecks off Key Largo I want to be 100% confident that when I set a the hook when target Mutton Snappers and Groupers when using a vertical jig that my hook setting effort is being transferred fully to the vertical jig. I did not have this confidence when using a Vertical Jig rigged with a Dacron Assist Hook. When it came to the hook sets with the braided dacron assist, I felt the hook sets were not good when I was using Dacron assist cords as the stuff is pretty limp and does not command the hook very well, I personally felt it was tough to drive the hook into the jaw of a Grouper or Mutton Snappers for a good hook set. Very water absorbent which leads to breakage. The salt water eats away at the Dacron. After the end of each vertical jig trip I wash every jig in the sink throughly at my house. I found that this did not help extend the life of a Dacron Assist Cord. . Dacron has significant stretch, which leads to unnecessary line failures and break offs. Because the assist cord is rigged to the solid ring and braided Dacron is soft it tended to tangle a lot, the assist would constantly get wrapped around the leader and it would hang up on the jig, the assist split and solid rings. What a nightmare!  A lot of guys band aid this by adding shrink wrap over the Dacron, which is additional step. The Williamson Brand Jig, cheap dacron covered with shrink wrap to make it look appealing to the consumer. Yes it adds a layer of protection, but for only a couple vertical jig fishing trips.  I am not a fan of added shrink to assist cords because the stuff tears up. This allows for water to enter the small tears. The water gets trapped between the shrink and the dacron. Even if you are thoroughly cleaning your jigs at the end of day, you still can not clean the salt water trapped between the cord and heat shrink.  The cord is basically rotting inside shrink.  All it takes in one little nick from a little Tuna or Amberjack to create a tear. Go out a couple weeks later, the assist cord appears to look OK because all you see is the heat shrink, you can not actually inspect the interior cord itself because it is covered in the heat shrink. Kevlar Assist Cord I am currently using high quality Red Kevlar Assist Cord.  We purchased our Red Kevlar Assist Cords in bulk directly from a manufacture.  Before manufacturing the Kevlar we approved quality samples as I wanted to make sure the Kevlar was correct and my quality expectations were met. I was very happy with the process and now I have enough Kevlar Assist Cords to last me many years.   There are many different grades of red kevlar, so be careful when purchasing Kevlar at a lower price point online. Below are my reasons why I prefer Kevlar Assist Cords for Vertical Jigs. More abrasion resistant than Dacron. It commands the hook well because it is stiff and has no memory.  My client hook up rates sky rocketed after I made the change from Dacron to Kevlar. Since I made the switch to Kevlar I am much more confident in the vertical jig hook sets. Kevlar does not like UV light or salt water, but when compared  to Dacron my personal opinion is that Kevlar is better at fighting off these environmental elements than Dacron and do feel Kevlar It has much longer shelf life than Dacron. New Assist Cord Material I am Testing I also wanted to share this other material I am using to make assist hooks with that is killing it. I heard a few guys were using this stuff to make their jigging assist cords with, plus knew the stuff was bad ass because I have put it through hell over the past 2 years in other applications using it as outrigger line, chum bag line, bait pen line.  I was confident it would perform very well as an assist hook, so I made up a few to try out. Extremely happy. I heard that a few hard core vertical jig fisherman started using this material so I decided to put it through a trial phase. I am using New England Rope 1.8mm Micro Dynema Syperline, 350lb breaking strength. It has fairly decent salt water absorption resistance, no memory  superior abrasion resistance, extremely strong, hard to cut, commands the hook well, UV resistant, holds up in the heat, ties easily, has a little stretch. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/new-england-ropes--spyderline-micro-dyneema-braid-by-the-spool--P002_071_002_515?recordNum=46 New England Rope Soft Micro Dynema Syperline Manufactures Specifications  This spiderweb sized, high-performance line has a Dyneema SK-75 core inside a polyester double braid cover that provides superior strength for its tiny diameter. It is flexible, yet firm enough to be led through small leads, micro blocks and purchase systems and is also a great choice as sail ties for the performance Opti sailor. Key Features Available in spools of 50', 75' and 100' 1.8mm (5/64") diameter on a 100' spool and 350 pound breaking strength 2.8mm (1/8") diameter on a 75' spool and 1,250 pound breaking strength 3.8mm (5/32") diameter on a 50' spool and 1,860 pound breaking strength Best Use: Performance dinghy cascade systems, control lines, small one design cunninghams, traveler lines, vang systems, trapeze lines, outhauls, topping lifts, halyards, and twings Construction: Double braid Cover Fiber/Construction: Polyester braid Core Fiber/Construction: Dyneema SK-75 braid Stretch: 1.6% at 20% of breaking strength Buy the stuff in bulk for $29.00 from West Marine it comes in spools of 50’, 75’, and 100’ I will put the link up in my show notes.  Comes in a few colors to choose from. Take Care of Vertical Jigs To Extend the Shelf Life Remember after a day of fishing, make sure to wash all your vertical jigs throughly. To extend the life of my vertical jigs I wash each vertical jig(main body, hardware and the assist cords) after each fishing trip in my kitchen sink at home in hot water and Dawn Dish Soap.  If there is one thing I took away from organic chemistry labs in college, was hot water is the only thing that really works to dissolves salt particles safely without using harsh chemicals that can ruin you jigs.  Hot water is your best friend when it comes to removing salt particles from all your critical fishing gear, including those expensive reels and fishing rods.  Water from a hose does not throughly remove all the salt. New Vertical Jig Hook I am Testing Currently I am testing 3X Owner S-Double Size Hooks with Super Tin Finish. I have always liked the Shimano Wax Wing Vertical Jig Hooks, these are the same hooks(fang hooks). Stay tuned for results. https://www.ownerhooks.com/product/saltwater-double-hook/

How to Vertical Jig for Tunas, Snappers, Groupers, Wahoo, Amberjacks, Golden Tile Fish and Wahoo.  In this podcast I reveal new vertical jigging tips including a secret vertical jigging technique that I have not shared publicly on instagram or facebook. The new "secret technique" is guaranteed to catch you more Blackfin Tuna when you vertical jig the Islamorada Hump.  Here a few tips to help you get started or improve upon your vertical jigging game. My Jigging Set Up I use Shimano Twin Power 8000. It is an extremely light weight reel with awesome drag and ultra fast retrieve.  Perfect for my style of jigging. I prefer speed jigging. It is easy to do with the right equipment and its great work out.  Rods: Have Rods custom built for jigging that match your style. Rods need to be extremely light weight and built to match your style of vertical jigging.  I use rods built by Adrenaline Rods. You can visit www.adrenalinecustomfishingrods.com  There is so much information out there about jigging ones.  To keep it short and simple- Order one for Tuna Fishing and order one capable of handling a big Amberjack/Grouper. Do your home work. If you have questions about my rods just email me.  Terminal Tackle Set Up  I spool my reels used for jigging with 40 lb. braid line. The vertical jigs I use on my fishing charters perform at their best tied to 40 lb. braided line.  I double the braid line using a Spider Hitch knot.  I always make a double line line. This doubles the strength of braided line and allows me to target big Amberjacks using lighter line.  Using an Improved Bristol Knot, I connect top shot of Fluorocarbon to the braid double line. Connect your fluorocarbon leader to the solid ring on the jig using whatever knot you feel comfortable with. As I said in previous podcasts I do not offer terminal end knot recommendations. Tie the jig to solid steel ring using any knot you feel comfortable with. Also sharpen over the counter manufacture assist hooks before use.  Always and I mean always test your knot, especially if you are targeting large fish. Sometimes you get a bad spool of fluorocarbon or you hit a bad spot on the braid.  Testing knots will catch this. I always and I mean always test my knots no matter how much confidence I have in them.  I always double check my work and the manufactures work. It has saved the day more than once. I guess old habits are hard to break.  Vertical Jigging can provide non-stop action. When I arrive at a vertical jig spot, I like to take some time to figure out the drift. Prior to starting the day. I review my past drift tracks on the the fishing spots by using historical track logs saved by date in my Atlas Track database. This saves me a lot of time. I check the wind direction in the morning then review a couple possible drift patterns based on what I “think” the current maybe doing.  I have to be mentally prepared and having historical drift patterns based on wind and current direction saves me a lot time. I know now which spots are worth fishing and which spots I should avoid based on historical data. Once I  determine which way our drift will carry us across the spot, I calculate our drift speed. After calculating the drift, we start 100 yards ahead of the fishing spot we plan on jigging.  Once I hit a point of reference on the GPS that I marked (as a drop point).  I then let the angler drop vertical jig. Now with the Seakeeper, I turn the boat broadside so two anglers can safely jig. One guy can safely jig off the bow and one guy can jig off the back near the helm.  Dialing In For bottom dwelling fish such as snappers and groupers. The angler will let the jig stay on the bottom for a few seconds, bounce it off the bottom 3-4 times that will give the fish a chance to investigate and at times the fish will pick it up and eat the jig. Think like a spear diver when it comes to jigging the bottom around wrecks. Spear divers brush the bottom of the ocean surface with their hands generating clouds of sediment and religiously use underwater lights and flashers to attract fish such as grouper, wahoo, snapper and cobia into their kill zone.  The jig bouncing off the seafloor creates vibratory sounds and “clouds” of sediment/sand.  This action draws the attention of big fish from hundreds of yards of way.If the angler does not draw a strike he will then lift the jig 5-10 ft. and repeat the process. If the bottom dwelling fish do not cooperate, the angler starts working the jig higher up into the water column. Lifting the jig 30-50 ft. then dropping it back down. Big Amberjacks roam this area. If the angler does not hook up he must either increase or decrease the jigging speed. Vertical Jigging can be extremely exciting, but it is takes a lot of work and practice to get the technique correct. The angler must be in good shape when it comes to vertical jigging as it requires a lot of stamina and cardio. Once you feel a fish strike a jig from 300ft down, I can almost guarantee that no matter how tired you are, you will be running on pure fishing Adrenaline! You also have to get a rhythm down…let the reel do the work. The Shimano Twin Power does the trick for me. It is expensive but man can that thing jig up the Tunas with little work.  It is ultra light weight and do not tire out.  Fish Get Picky..Truth I am going to use the Amberjack as an example. Amberjacks do not eat just anything and are not always hungry!  The Amberjack will shut down and not eat due to fishing pressure so you have to use your brain to get them to eat. I have done several side by side tests over a two year period when I owned Jimyjigs USA and found the Amberjacks to be one “cranky” fish.  Anyone can catch them when they are biting, but when they are not biting that is when I challenge you to go to the next level and figure it out. A commercial Amberjack fisherman will tell you the same thing, they get “cranky” at times and you gotta work for them.  Yes, I believe color does matter with Amberjacks and vertical jigs. My secret jig is a chartreuse jig with a blue eye, The Blue around the eye is secret technique used by commercial Amberjack fisherman in Mexico. When fishing the Islamorada Hump, the fish tend to really key in on smaller jigs that highly reflective in silver color, on dark days the jigs that have super glow out fish the ones that do not. Purple, Blues, Silver, Golds and Chartreuse jigs tend to work very well on the Islamorada Hump.  Some days color just does not matter, nor the type of jig you use.  I have my best luck with Tunas using a silver colored 80-100 g jigs on days when the current is light. On days when it is ripping I have to beef up the jig size to 150 g-225 g jigs and even carry an ample supply of 300gram jigs.   Look around you especially when you are fishing the Islamorada Hump and check out what the Tunas are eating. You can see the bait fish in the water on most days. Try to match the Hatch.  Bait Strip Secret-Add Some Flair to the Your Vertical Jig Something new that I have not talked about yet or shared with anyone until now is my secret to catching Blackfins on the hump using Bait Strips. I attach a holographic bait strip to the vertical  jig hook and then I tie small cable tie on the hook to keep it in place so it does not tear off the hook.  As the jig falls this silver holographic artificial jig strips gets crush! Like I said earlier Tunas on the humps, especially if the fleet of boat is tossing out pilchards for live chum, get turned on to silver/white a silver and light color. In the sunlight this silver color down deep catches light reflection… not to mention the action of the bait strip attached to the jig is crazy! You have to purchase a pack of bait strips and try this out this winter. Its awesome!  Check out the photo my favorite vertical jig rigged with bait strip in my show notes.   Fluorocarbon Leaders Matters when it Comes to Vertical Jigging I always and I means always use Fluorocarbon for the abrasion resistance and the stealth. Fishing is mental, I have confidence in every jig I put down with a Fluorocarbon Leader.  Use 30 lb.-40 lb. for Black Fin Tuna and Mutton Snappers Use 80 lb. -100 lb. for Amberjack and Big Groupers.  Just telling you like it is even if you don’t like it. Thanks for listening now got get yourself some vertical jigs.  The best vertical jigging spot in South Florida is the Islamorada Hump.

Episode 021: How to Fish the Florida Keys Patch Reefs/Shallow Reefs

Good Karma Sportfishing

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 21, 2018 12:18

When I get calls from clients in the winter months and I tell them the patch reefs are offering some great fishing I get asked these questions: What is Patch Reef Fishing? Florida Keys Patch Reef fishing is a local term for fishing shallow water reefs, rock piles, coral heads and small ship wrecks inside the Florida Keys reef in 10-40ft of water. What Can we Catch When We Fish the Patch Reefs?  The big coral heads, smaller reefs, rock piles and shallow wrecks in these depths inside the barrier reef will hold numerous Snappers, groupers, mackerels, barracudas, jacks, mangrove snappers, hog fish, porgies, cobia, sharks and more. I always try to get my clients a couple very big Mutton Snappers on the patch reefs using a trade secret technique.  Check out the pictures below of the big Mutton Snappers my clients have caught in 10ft. of water on the patch reefs off Key Largo only 3 miles from shore.  When is the Best Time to Fish the Patch Reefs?  Patch reef fishing can offer action year round, but when in the windy and cooler months (December-February) in the Florida Keys the patch reef fishing is at its peak. The best days to fish the patch reefs are on cooler windy days when we can not get outside the reef.         What Tackle Do We Use? We use ultra light spinning rods on the patch reefs, similar to pan fish and walleye rods to catch these fish making it the ultimate in light tackle fun fishing. For my light tackle set-ups I prefer to use lightest weight reels I can afford with powerful drag, I prefer using Shimano Sustain 2500-5000 class reels paired with my favorite light tackle fishing rods made by St. Croix. The spools of the Shimano Sustains are filled with 10-15 lb. Power Pro Braided Line.  To the braid I connect a 6ft piece of 15-20 lb. Fluorocarbon Leader using Double Uni Knot. I love using small 3/4-1oz size jig heads on the patch reefs. The best colors for me are Pink and Super Glow DOA style Jig Heads with sharp hooks I target larger Mutton Snappers and Groupers on the patch reefs using Shimano Twin Power 8000 spinning reels paired with custom Adrenaline Live Bait Rods. The Twin Powers are spooled with 40lb. Braided line connected to a 6ft piece of 40-60lb. Fluorocarbon Leader using a Double Uni Knot. Freaking fun fishing! We can catch lots of fish and maybe a few for the frying. If you enjoy casting and hooking fish this style of fishing is similar to walleye and bass fishing up north. Clients are casting the entire trip and hooking their own fish.   Water Quality(Color) For me, water quality is the more important than current when it comes to fishing the patch reefs in the Florida Keys. When I arrive at a patch reef and find  "backcountry mud" water quality  I will either run north or south 5-10 miles to find a cleaner water.  My water color preference for patch reef fishing is "powder blue" or "green".   Snappers are not big fans of eating in muddy water. Current As far as current goes, learn to fish whatever current you are dealt with when fishing the patch reefs. Wind against the tide can be frustrating conditions for most anglers including myself,  but remember you are not "feel lining" baits for Yellowtails on the patch reefs you are "casting" jig heads tipped with bait. Make long casts with the wind and let the current bring the jig head back to the boat.   Also make long casts out the port and starboard sides of the boat, this technique works well for my clients when faced with wind "against tide conditions". Chumming and Shrimp  I like to put a lot chum in the water when patch reef fishing.  You read a lot about "not using chum" on the patch reefs.  Don't believe what you read. I bring the same amount of chum as I do on my Yellowtail trips which is 100 pounds or more. This guarantees me action and quality fish for the box and allows me to fish each spot effectively sometimes I will fish 3-5 spots per charter in 5 hours.   In the chum mix I like to add some dead shrimp.  Just this little bit of crustacean scent fires up the snappers on the patches. How to Find Patch Reef Fishing Spots in Florida Keys If you can afford to do so I would recommend purchasing an Atlas Trax (https://atlastrax.com)but if not use Google Earth. This is not a paid promotion or marketing scheme. Atlas Trax does not pay me to speak about their product, I really just like using it. Here is a tip for those that don’t already know this, but as you are scouting at home on the computer using Google Earth, make sure to learn how to use the time slider took to your advantage. Scroll back through the time slider and look for scans that google earth completed on days when it was nice out for fishing around the time you are planning your fishing trip, look for the boats fishing a patch reef fishing then drop a g.p.s. location pin and save it to your GPS on the boat. I included an example of a what you should be looking for when you are scouting for lobster, bait or patch reef spots using Google Earth. When you find a spot you want to check out just drop a "pin" on the spot and put the coordinates into your GPS.   Use the historical data as your personal log book. You have to put in the hours to find the data, but it will be worth it if you find a good fishing spot.   If you want to target large sea trout this spring, then use Google Earth to help you find a few spots to try out.  Below is an image of a "sea trout" fishing spot just outside of Flamingo (Everglades National Park).   Another tool I just recently started using is Strike Lines Charts. These are 3-D Sonar Charts. I really prefer fishing patches with grassy mud/sand bottom surrounding them, not hard rocky bottom. Thanks to Strike Line Charts I can now tell what type of bottom surrounds the patches.   Mutton Snappers like to roam and eat away from the patches, they love foraging on the crustaceans that live in the grass surrounding the patch reef.  The trick is to find a healthy patch reef that is holding fish with some nice sea fans and grass surrounding it. Below is an image of several patch reefs. This particular location is off of Ocean Reef. The Ocean Reef Patch Reefs offer some awesome fishing. It is worth the trip to fish these patches off of the Ocean Reef Club in the Upper Florida Keys. Hook and Cook(Shore Lunch) It is a tradition in the Florida Keys for charter clients to take their catch to a local restaurant so they can prepare you the ultimate hook and cook experience, my northern clients call this a “shore lunch” experience. Lazy Days http://www.lazydaysislamorada.com in the Islamorada offers the absolute best hook and cook experience in the Florida Keys. You have to make reservations well in advance not to mention the view of the Alligator Reef Light house is awesome. Highly recommended. Seakeeper, a Luxury Comfort Fishing Experience for my Clients Another patch reef windy day advantage has been our new Seakeeper 2. It basically shuts down the 15 knot days on the patch reefs into crazy comfortable fun for my clients now. We have the advantage over all the smaller boats in the Florida Keys fishing fleet without a Seakeeper. Anchor fishing on the patch reefs now feels like fishing from the dock. Not to mention getting to and from the spot with ease in gusty breeze as Seakeeper works wonders while underway to and from the fishing spot.  My clients are left speechless at the end of the day.  I am very grateful and lucky to have 1 fo the first 10 Seakeeper 2 off the assembly line! I want the best for my clients, I can’t control the fishing but I can offer the best possible ocean fishing experience with quality equipment.  Learn more about how the Seakeeper 2 works at https://www.seakeeper.com. Check out the demonstration video on our website (insert website page with video) We are very lucky to be the only 24ft boat in the United States with a Seakeeper 2. Anderson Cowan is a filmmaker living in Los Angeles, California, who hosts a number of podcasts, namely The Film Vault, Cinemaddicts, and The After Disaster.  He's created a decent library of short films, and his first full length feature film, "Groupers" opened to a small select group of screenings in several cities across the country, and will be available sometime in 2019 for the rest of us.  This was a significant undertaking, because it was completely done independently, with help from investors who rallied for the project through Seed and Spark, an online independent filmmaking crowd funding platform.  Go to the the Official Groupers Website to get more information about the film, and watch the trailer and the cold open. This was a fun talk, albeit a bit challenging, seeing as how this was my first conversation with someone I had no history with (except hearing him on podcasts), and we spoke via facebook audio, so the whole face to face element was missing.  Still, I had a good time, and I hope you enjoy it. We chat about his brief stint with the Jaques Cousteau Foundation, how he decided to go to film school, his work, what makes a good film good, the different podcasts he has his hands in, and what's next for him. We also talk about something close to Anderson's heart, Camp Ronald MacDonald for Good Times, a camp for children with cancer, where he volunteered every year for 23 years.  Anderson talks a lot about camp on his podcasts, so I was interested in hearing more.  Follow the link to find out more about this special place and how you might be able to help out! Here's a clip of Anderson's short film, Cult of Carano, a great take on what happens when disaster strikes.  We talk a little about this film, and I wanted you to see the scene we were talking about, so he let me make a little clip of it.   The music used in this episode is "Ground, Making Her Realize", and "We Chase the American Dream", by local songwriter Lucas Harris.  I'm starting a new thing (kicking myself, actually, because it took me this long to think of this), of featuring local music from local artists during each episode -- each episode that doesn't feature a songwriter to begin with, that is.  There's way too much really great music in this town not to be featured in one way or another.  Find more about Luke here, here, and here. The opening music was written and performed by me, and the logo was designed and created by Sean Goodwin.

Jess and Andrew take another journey through the cineplex for a wide array of new releases:The new Blumhouse film "Upgrade" was a bloody good time, "Disobedience" passed time through an ocean of repression, "American Animals" was a heist that stole our hearts, and "Groupers" is a premier from Anderson Cowan that we finally got to see. We've been waiting on that since, well, we both worked on it through the entire shoot.  AndrewWatchesMovies.com Film diary:  https://letterboxd.com/andrewmartin/films/diary/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AndrewWatchesTV Moses's Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-298402626 Mike Dietrich's Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/mike.dietrich.art/

No hurricane. No tropical storm. But we've had a fair amount of rain through the week. The bad weather tends to scare off the tourists from getting out on the water, but that's their loss...Groupers are still hitting along the bottom.
