On the last episode of our special food-and-family series Juleyka reflects on her experience around parenting and food with Claudia Serrato, a culinary anthropologist who studies how to decolonize food practices. In this inspiring conversation, Claudia shows us how to reclaim the power of the kitchen, strengthen family time by centering food, and honor our hybrid identities through what we eat.Featured Expert: Claudia Serrato is an Indigenous culinary anthropologist, a public scholar, a doctoral candidate, a professor of ethnic studies, an Indigenous plant-based chef, and a food justice activist scholar. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California predominantly on a P'urhépecha, Huasteca, and Zacateco diet. At an early age, she began to cook alongside her elders, gaining time-tested food knowledge, which she centered in her academic studies, arriving at the conclusion in 2007 that decolonizing the diet was essential to the survival of Indigenous foods and foodways. Since 2014 Claudia has been actively involved in the Native food justice and sovereignty movement. Claudia is also the co-founder of Across Our Kitchen Tables, a women of color culinary hub and event series founded in 2017 that generates and supports socially responsible food-based work by women of color. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Gender, Ethnicity, and Multicultural Studies, a Master's in Mexican American Studies, a second Master's in Anthropology, and is currently completing a Ph.D. in sociocultural anthropology from the University of Washington, Seattle. As a newly minted thirty-year-old, Dani Moreno has already been racing trails professionally for the better part of a decade. Over the last couple of years, she's solidified her status as one of the world's best sub-ultra distance trail runners, a position she's reached through patience, consistency, and an intuitive knowledge of exactly the right time to give it some gas. This approach continued to pay dividends in 2022; Dani finished in podium position at both the Mont Blanc Marathon and OCC, two marquee international races historically swept by euros. As the calendar ticked over into 2023, we sat down with her to recap a few memorable performances from the previous year; discuss how she mended her broken relationship with running after graduating from college; offer some beta on spearfishing, of all things; and a whole lot more. In part 1 of episode 6, we sit down with Clyde King, a superintendent and 30-year construction veteran. Clyde has worked for GCs and subs during his career, and in this episode, he dives into some of his tips that both parties can use to continue stepping up to the plate and building great projects. Most podcasts interview CEOs, athletes, or celebrities. We prefer interviewing the people that build the built world. Construction Chronicles is your podcast home for stories from the construction industry.
In the first sermon of a series, Matthew Balentine points out that ordinary people become extraordinary when they rise up and meet the challenge before them. Applying this to the life of a Christian, he looks at things we don't need to do when we face challenges and then things we need to do to rise up to the challenge. ***** Please join us in person at the Ninth Avenue Church of Christ, located in Haleyville, Alabama. This episode of Team Builders is something a little different. We're talking about real life tragedy and how people in our industry can step up as leaders during a natural disaster or any time of crisis. My longtime friend and personal client, Mary Bartos runs a team serving the area of Southwestern Florida that was devastated by Hurricane Ian. Ten percent of her market, over 45,000 homes, were either damaged or destroyed, leaving the entire community shellshocked and with nowhere to turn for answers. I spoke to Mary about how she and her team stepped up to help the people of her community when they needed her most and what anyone could do to be a leader through the darkest of times. With the economy we're facing at this moment, you don't need a natural disaster to follow Mary's example of exceptional leadership. So, check out this episode, right here.

On today's episode of Locked On Wild, we recap a 5-3 win over Edmonton. We look at how the Wild adjusted after early success from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to shut them down the rest of the way. We take a look at the reasons for the Wild going 4-1 over their last 5 games, including a ton of secondary scoring in addition to Kirill Kaprizov being on fire. We discuss Sam Steel continuing to do what is needed on the top line, and look at what he was able to do on his goal after a nifty feed from Mats Zuccarello. We discuss the upcoming games against Anaheim and Dallas, and why all of the numbers suggest the Wild should be able to handle Anaheim, and yet it feels like an opportunity for a trap game. We finish by looking at the absolutely molten stretch Jason Robertson has been on to start the year and what has led to Dallas getting off to such a hot start so far this year!
