On today's episode of The Therapy Crouch, Abbey and Peter are back for another Ask Me Anything from Portugal and there is absolutely no shortage of chaos! The pair kick things off by diving into the realities of being reunited after time apart, with Abbey admitting Peter has completely ruined the routine she'd finally managed to get in place while solo parenting. There's also a fresh long-distance confession from producer Gaz, who reveals he took his girlfriend's pants to LA for “comfort” only for them to be neatly folded by the housekeeper and left on full display in his room…Elsewhere, Abbey and Peter discuss one listener's boyfriend who insists on calling a Leeds-to-Manchester relationship “long distance”, whether ugly animals are actually the cutest pets of all, and why Abbey can't stop rescuing tiny kittens in Portugal. There's also a truly bizarre internet confession involving a sex act, a shout of “Shabba!” and an Alexa request for Mr Bombastic that completely derails the pod.Plus, Abbey opens up about her Scouse identity, whether she's become “too posh” for Liverpool, and the strange experience of sounding too Scouse in London but not Scouse enough back home!If you want to submit an Agony Ab to the podcast - hit the link belowhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rAKDST4HU_8al_aWpOlys3TRJrWvDV-84piVdlOOjU4/edit00:00 Introduction02:20 G's Long Distance Comfort Knickers04:22 Abbey's New Coconut Coffee Obsession07:22 The Boyfriend Who Calls Leeds to Manchester ‘Long Distance'09:28 Ugly Pets, Feral Cats and A Farm Podcast Invitation12:17 Abbey's Portugal Animal Rescue Update15:17 The Shabba Bedroom Confession18:04 Laughing With A Straight Face19:01 Abbey on Being Scouse in London vs Liverpool22:20 Abbey Plans G's MakeoverTo contact us:Email: thetherapycrouch@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetherapycrouchpodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thetherapycrouchWebsite: https://thetherapycrouch.com/For more from Peterhttps://twitter.com/petercrouchFor more from Abbeyhttps://www.instagram.com/abbeyclancyOur clips channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZntcv96YhN8IvMAKsz4Dbg Hosted on Acast. This episode is sponosored by Hulu. Stream PRISON BREAK on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ Internationally. Sarah Wayne Callies and Paul Adelstein discuss Prison Break S4E5 “Safe and Sound,” focusing on what they call the series' best scene so far: Pam Mahone identifying Wyatt and pushing Mahone toward revenge, praising the grounded performances and how the writing redirects Mahone's obsessive “monster-hunting” into something noble. They talk stunts and production, including Sara wanting to do the highway run but being stopped for insurance, the use of a stunt double wig, and “free boat” harbor background production value. They dig into Gretchen's off-camera “smell torture,” speculate what was in the bucket, and note her escape and new wild-card status, alongside Michael's nosebleeds suggesting a long-standing medical issue and his impulse to hide it from Sara. They compare Season 4's Scylla “horcrux” heist structure to The Sting's audience-information misdirection, discuss T-Bag's office con and Trishanne's leverage, answer fan questions contrasting Wyatt with Kellerman, and debate whether Michael could truly walk away from the fight against the Company. A hypervisual, looks-obsessed, wellness-crazed, postliterate society where we're constantly staring at screens and evaluating one another based on metrics, as the country around us feels like it's falling apart: That sounds like the world we live in. It's also the world Gary Shteyngart created in his 2010 novel, “Super Sad True Love Story.” I've been thinking about the book a lot recently, especially with the rise of the “looksmaxxing” influencer Clavicular and the longevity guru Bryan Johnson, and this feeling that people are upset and agitated but grabbing at the wrong things to fix it. It feels uncannily like the experience of living inside Shteyngart's novel. But Shteyngart isn't just a dystopian prophet, he's also an expert at living well amid the world's darkness. His forthcoming book, “The Sensualist: Adventures in Pure Pleasure,” is an essay collection about his efforts to do exactly that. So I wanted to have Shteyngart on the show to understand how he predicted so many of the grimmer aspects of our present, but also how we might delight in the world's “endless buffet of pleasure” in spite of them. This episode contains strong language. Note: We're recording an "Ask Me Anything" episode soon. If you have a question, please email ezrakleinshow@nytimes.com using the subject like "AMA." In this Podcast Extra, Join John as he answers a wide range of grower-submitted questions covering challenges in agriculture. The discussion focuses on managing high summer leaf temperatures, optimizing organic nitrogen budgets, and navigating severe base saturation imbalances. John emphasizes the critical connection between precise crop nutrition, active soil biology, and the natural suppression of destructive diseases and pests. Other topics discussed include: Distinguishing between air temperature and leaf temperature, highlighting how a healthy wax lipid layer lowers a plant's canopy temperature by 8 to 10 degrees. Managing the photorespiration process in C3 and C4 plants to prevent protein degradation and the buildup of high ammonium levels. Utilizing trace amounts of nickel (3 to 10 grams per acre) as an essential enzyme cofactor to rapidly lower ammonium in plant sap. Applying Rejuvenate as a foliar tool to provide stressed crops with carbohydrates, enzymes, and high-energy compounds. Addressing low magnesium and potassium in soils with extreme calcium base saturation using targeted applications. Citing historical 1960s data on fire blight indicating the disease cannot establish when sap sucrose levels remain above a 22–26% threshold. Restructuring high-chloride potato programs by pairing Rebound micronutrients with Holo-K, SeaShield, and SeaStim. Remediating the typical "burnt leaf tips" on garlic by satisfying the crop's unusually high molybdenum requirement. Evaluating the limitations of indigenous microorganisms (IMOs) and acknowledging that 90% of living soil microbes require active plant roots to propagate. Deploying PhotoMag to optimize plant sap ratios, delivering magnesium, sulfur, molybdenum, and boron to efficiently convert excess ammonium into complete proteins . Advocating for a national food policy focused on nutritional quality and farmer economic viability over cheap, abundant food. Utilizing MacroPack and MicroPack within target foliar combinations to halt disease progression. Understanding why high-salt content fertilizers solubilize trace minerals and leach them down the soil profile over a 20- to 40-year period. About John Kempf A top expert in biological and regenerative farming, John founded AEA in 2006 to help fellow farmers by providing the education, tools, and strategies that will have a global effect on the food supply and those who grow it. Sarah and Paul analyze Sara's storyline after learning Bruce Bennett was murdered, focusing on her relapse temptation, the specificity of the bar and bathroom scenes, and how performance choices are shaped by coverage, shot order, inner monologue, and avoiding “indicating.” Sara describes not planning emotional beats, sometimes playing against expectation, and how director Michael Switzer supported the work; they note a missed opportunity for Sara and Bellick to connect through recovery. Fan questions prompt Sara to reflect on returning to the show after maternity leave, balancing work with being a new mom, and using real-life strain in performance. Film Ireland, supported by the Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland Stakeholders Fund, are delighted to present Out of the Box, the first in a six-part podcast series exploring different perspectives in media today.Hosted by writer and filmmaker Róisín Kearney, each episode features conversations with people paving the way for greater equity and inclusion in the screen industries. Together, they discuss what has worked so far, what still needs to be done, and how we can all ensure that all creative voices are properly heard. For the inaugural discussion, Róisín sits down with Paul FitzSimons, a writer, musician and producer who founded Prelude Content to create high-end film and television drama; and Dan Airey, presenter, producer, filmmaker and one half of the award-winning podcast duo behind Dan and Darragh Do Ability. Out of the BoxMedia has always played a powerful role in shaping society. When public health campaigns in the United States sought to promote the idea of a designated driver and reduce road deaths among young men, they turned to popular television shows such as Cheers, L.A. Law and The Cosby Show to help shift public attitudes. Since its inception, media has influenced how we see the world...and each other. So what happens when that media does not reflect the full breadth of society? What happens when people are told which stories they can tell, who they can tell them about, or how those stories should be told? There have been countless studies examining how marginalised communities are perceived by wider society, but far fewer exploring how people from those communities perceive society itself. This series seeks to contribute to that conversation, placing those perspectives front and centre.Paul FitzSimonsPaul is a producer, screenwriter and tutor with 15 years' experience in the film industry. He runs Prelude Content, producing films and TV dramas, working with creatives in Ireland, the UK, Spain and Japan. He recently produced feature film Verdigris, which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, won awards at festivals around the world, was nominated for five IFTA awards and was released in April 2025. Paul is now producing the comedy series Starless and developing a number of features and TV dramas. He has a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Producing from TU Dublin and is an EAVE Producers' Workshop graduate. Paul was previously Development Executive at production company Danú Media. He also wrote and produced the feature film The Gift (2017, OC Productions, 15A) and worked as a story writer on the Irish TV drama Fair City. Dan Airey Dan Airey is a presenter, podcaster, producer and filmmaker. He is the co-producer and co-presenter of the award-winning Dan and Darragh Do Ability Podcast, which features conversations with people with disabilities, encouraging listeners to see the world through different perspectives. Dan holds a four-year degree in Creative Digital Media and a Master's in Broadcast Production for TV and Radio. He has worked across multiple genres and formats, from short documentary to prime-time television. His short film L.I.F.E. (Live. It. Fully. They cover the rotating antifungal approach, the microbiome-body odor connection from a 2017 study, and how ear acupuncture showed 96% symptom relief for Alpha-Gal in a small clinical trial. The conversation also lands on a jaw-dropping Bioethics journal article suggesting scientists should intentionally bioengineer ticks to give humans Alpha-Gal syndrome as an environmental strategy to reduce red meat consumption. Plus Sip of the Summer round two: LaCroix Sunshine, a Costa Rica orange espresso, and organic black iced tea. On today's episode of The Therapy Crouch, Abbey and Peter are back for another AMA episode as they answer your dilemmas, share some hilarious stories and dish out their brutally honest advice. The gang kick things off by talking about spending time apart for the first time in a while before a conversation about restaurant etiquette and customer service spirals into a rant about supermarket managers, jangling keychains and the ultimate "jobsworth" behaviour. We also hear one of Abbey's most awkward holiday stories ever as an innocent dinner invitation takes a very unexpected turn, leaving her too nervous to tell Peter what had actually happened until much later. Also, Abbey and Peter help a listener who told someone they loved them only to have the feeling go unreturned, discussing heartbreak, rejection and why sometimes walking away is the healthiest option. We also tackle a bedroom dilemma from a listener looking to spice things up in his relationship, leading to one of the funniest and most chaotic conversations we've had in a long time.If you want to submit an Agony Ab to the podcast - hit the link belowhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rAKDST4HU_8al_aWpOlys3TRJrWvDV-84piVdlOOjU4/edit00:00 Introduction01:55 Long Distance Relationships02:50 Restaurant Jobsworths05:10 First Ever Jobs08:55 Abbey's Awkward Holiday Story10:15 "Why Don't You Just Leave?"11:30 Peter Finds Out What Happened14:10 Honesty In Relationships15:00 "I Love You" Wasn't Returned16:45 Heartbreak & Moving On17:35 Bedroom Dilemmas19:15 How To Talk About Intimacy20:30 The "Shabba" Debate22:10 Modern Dating & OnlyFans23:10 Sunday Best & Final ThoughtsTo contact us:Email: thetherapycrouch@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetherapycrouchpodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thetherapycrouchWebsite: https://thetherapycrouch.com/For more from Peterhttps://twitter.com/petercrouchFor more from Abbeyhttps://www.instagram.com/abbeyclancyOur clips channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZntcv96YhN8IvMAKsz4Dbg Hosted on Acast. "Opportunity cost" analysis could make you think that every dollar you spend is ruining your future retirement finances. We address this way of thinking in today's "Ask Me Anything" episode. Looking for a financial planner? → PlanWithJesse.com Jesse explores three listener questions spanning core retirement planning tradeoffs. First, he unpacks the concept of opportunity cost, arguing that while it's mathematically valid to project small spending decisions (like vacations or food choices) into large future dollar amounts using compound growth, doing so at an aggressive portfolio return can become misleading and behaviorally counterproductive. He emphasizes the importance of distinguishing frugality from harmful "cheapness" and highlights that many expenses also deliver real utility, not just cost. Second, he evaluates Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), explaining how they work, how they differ from I Bonds, and why they are useful for inflation hedging but not a complete substitute for equities or traditional bonds due to lower expected returns and interest rate risk. Third, he examines portfolio construction across multiple accounts, contrasting simple mirrored allocations with more tax-efficient asset location strategies. While optimized asset location can improve outcomes, he concludes the benefit is relatively modest compared to higher-impact financial decisions, reinforcing a prioritization framework for retirement planning decisions. Key Takeaways: • Opportunity cost is mathematically valid but often misused in personal finance discussions. • Frugality and being "cheap" are not the same—cutting essential spending can reduce quality of life disproportionately. • Applying opportunity cost logic universally leads to absurd conclusions (e.g., coffee, schooling, healthcare). • TIPS returns are typically lower than nominal Treasuries due to inflation protection. • A blended approach (TIPS + Treasuries) can balance inflation protection and flexibility. • Financial planning should prioritize high-impact decisions before optimizing tax placement. Key Timestamps: (01:03) – Question 1: Opportunity Cost: Being Cheap vs. Frugal (06:47) – Does It Make Sense Mathematically? (09:32) – Shockingly Not-So-Simple Social Security (13:27) – Isn't the Trip Worth the Money? (18:23) – Question 2: Are TIPS Worth It? (21:24) – TIPS vs. I-Bonds (22:09) – Inflation Risk (27:29) – Question 3: Asset Allocation vs. Location (31:45) – Why Not Add One More Lever? (34:59) – Practical Example (39:31) – Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze? This episode of PRISON BREAKING WITH SARAH & PAUL is sponsored by Hulu. Stream PRISON BREAK on Hulu (U.S.) and Disney+ (Internationally) Sarah Wayne Callies and Paul Adelstein discuss “Prison Break” Season 4 Episode 3 “Shut Down,” focusing on Milan Cheylov's directing, including the claustrophobic chase location, car-chase camerawork, sound design on Wyatt's torture scenes, and an overall rise in intensity and physicality (neck-grabs, head-slaps) across the episode. They note how period tech (PDA references and flip-phone texting) dates the story, debate how much exposition viewers need versus simply believing the characters, and riff on a proposed “Lincoln Bingo” game tracking Lincoln's recurring traits. They also talk about Mahone's darkness, commitment to finding his son's killer, and his value as the team's most dangerous asset, plus a running joke about hair length correlating with power. Guest Wilbur Fitzgerald (Bruce Bennett) reflects on playing a lawyerly, loyal confidant to Governor Raitt and Sarah, balancing acting with a long legal career (including helping create Georgia's film tax incentives), returning for season four, and crafting a restrained, non-corny “drugged” performance opposite Cress Williams; he shares that he wasn't warned his character would die and answers fan questions and a “Scylla Squad” prompt. They also cover the PCOS-to-PMOS name change — what it means clinically, why functional medicine has known about the metabolic component for years, and whether the timing of the rebrand is a little too convenient given the GLP-1 explosion. Welcome to the June 2026 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number -- based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good -- and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy! Blog post with AMA questions and transcript: https://www.preposterousuniverse.com/podcast/2026/06/01/ama-june-2026/ New paper I talk about in the beginning of the episode: S.M. Carroll, N.
