Yesterday, the unthinkable happened...the UN backed Trump's bold 20-point Gaza plan, setting off a political earthquake. Hamas responded with fire and fury, anti-Israel protests erupted globally and Netanyahu added his own twist, inviting international help, but Israel's right-wing roared back with a resounding "no" to a Palestinian state. We're covering it all on today's episode of the "Quad".
The UN Security Council has passed a resolution backing US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza. It authorises an "international stabilisation force", and approves a "board of peace". Essentially, this would govern Gaza, and oversee reconstruction and humanitarian aid. It also follows a playbook similar to the occupation of Iraq, warns international law expert Shahd Hammouri: "The US using international legal mechanisms to normalise an unlawful occupation." Guests: Shahd Hammouri, lecturer in International Law and Legal Theory at the University of Kent, and an international legal consultant Nour ElAssy, poet and writer from Gaza, Palestine Riley Sparks, reporter covering migration and human rights
The UN Security Council has approved a US-drafted resolution to move to the next stage of Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan. It aims to set up a transitional administration and international stabilisation force, but the details remain vague. Israel has taken issue with parts of the resolution and Hamas has rejected it. Also: Israeli settlers continue to attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank; students are kidnapped from a girls' boarding school in Nigeria; an explosion in Poland fuels fears of hybrid war; the latest from COP30; an exclusive interview with Google's boss about AI; how to stop ticket resellers ripping off fans; Netflix confirms Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua boxing fight, and what's the word of the year? The Global News Podcast brings you the breaking news you need to hear, as it happens. Home secretary Shabana Mahmood is defending asylum reforms some Labour MPs are calling "cruel and inhumane". Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they dive into President Trump urging Republicans to support releasing the Epstein files, disgraced reporter Olivia Nuzzi getting fawning media coverage for her forthcoming book about her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and James Carville vowing that Democrats will add four seats to the U.S. Supreme Court if they sweep the 2028 elections.First, they welcome President Trump reversing himself and supporting the Epstein files becoming public. They discuss why Trump is likely doing this after opposing the release for so long, and whether we'll really get to see all the information the government has on Epstein.Next, Jim details what he learned from a New York Times puff piece on Olivia Nuzzi and her “emotional affair” with then presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. First, JIm says Nuzzi's story is a textbook example of how not to conduct yourself as a journalist. The story also paints Nuzzi in a sympathetic light, but Jim argues she still comes across as a complete “nutjob.” She also levels new accusations at RFK Jr., which Jim sees as more evidence that Kennedy has no business serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Finally, they fire back at James Carville for claiming Democrats have to pack the Supreme Court when and if they have the power to do so in order to have "a Supreme Court people trust again." Radical Vermont Senate candidate Graham Platner says the same thing. Jim says it's astonishing to see the left openly plotting massive upheaval to our system in order to "save democracy" or something. Please visit our great sponsors:Cancel unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster with Rocket Money at https://RocketMoney.com/MARTINI Stop putting off those doctors' appointments and go to https://ZocDoc.com/3ML to find and instantly book a top-rated doctor today.Give your liver the support it deserves with Dose Daily. We checked in with her a year and a half later for a season three episode to talk about Lisa's experience with rehab following a car accident. Today, Lisa is a sought after rowing specialist physical therapist near Boston, and guest author for Science of Rowing. She recently created a course called Keys to Working with Rowers, which is designed to help athletic trainers, strength coaches, physical therapists, and other rehabilitation professionals gain a background knowledge of rowing so that they can be confident in their support of rowers. In this chat with Lisa, we'll talk high school growing pains, collegiate over training, grumpy ribs and twingy backs, knowing when to take a break, and the importance of having a care team that understands the fundamental movement patterns of the sport you love.
