EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Once again Michigan won the Charity Bowl, so we'll be getting together with the Fullcastians on JUNE 28, 6PM at the Ann Arbor District Library, then going to Venue for drinks at 8:30. Signup is here so we can plan a good numbers count, or just remember pizzawestern.com. Things Discussed: House: We're in prime recruiting season but schools are starting to tell kids the distribution money isn't coming to recruit against Michigan. What's the holdup? In a vacuum liars will come up with B.S. to sell. We're sure Ohio State is pushing for some kind of system where they can go back to exploiting a black market and controlling the enforcement mechanism so that Michigan won't/can't participate in it. Best guess at what's holding it up: they're trying to make a clearinghouse that won't the agreement immediately sued out of existence, which is tricky because any regulation of what people can make without Congressional dispensation tends to lose in court. Playoff expansion: Why, who, will it? Petitti is a dumb TV suit and put out a dumb TV suit idea so he can make this end-of-year playoff to get into the Playoff. No this is not the Showcase (which is a +1 format to finish the season with the best games that weren't played and determine a conference champion by strength of season). Sankey is predictably honestly dishonest in that he'll keep saying and doing whatever gets more for his schools, and that means he's going to run absolute circles around Petitti the spineless moron. Why are things this way? Powers in control are approaching it from how much more TV inventory can they generate, don't think about where the value is coming out of except they're very protective of their own money. Schools imagining themselves #16 and dealing with opt-outs. Who really pays: fans. Fans who buy another expensive last-minute ticket, and travel. For years nobody in power has put any thought into what really makes college football valuable, so they're willing to cannibalize the Every Game Matters. Already happened with 12 teams, where Ohio State finished the season with a worse strength of record than Oregon and shouldn't have had a path to redemption. With 16 teams you're going to get a 3- or 4-loss champion who gets hot or beneficial matchups in a year with a team that went 14-1. Also guarantee Sankey will know how to get an 8-4 Ole Miss team that played three Sun Belts and an FCS with one ranked win in the SEC ranked above a 10-2 Iowa that beat nobody because they were in the "Not playing Michigan-Ohio State-USC-Oregon" tier when Petitti was making his schedules for inventory. Our dream: If Congress were to demand your conference can't have more than 12 members or you can't pay anybody. In the break: McKenna Yaxeltalk: Watching his film last year there was a lot more Buzz Williams ball where they would Iso then rebound. Hopefully he gets better looks with better creators on the court with him. Don't forget defense: Yaxel's length makes him switchable, and you have some major rim protection that won't have to get tired. Need to develop 36%+ shooting so opponents don't just collapse, because Yax isn't an off-the-dribble shooter at all. Can Gayle? Can Cason? Freshmen? Nimari is who he is. Kobe Assist team: have guys like Gayle, Cason drawing multiple defenders and there will be a lot of opportunities to "pass" the ball to the basket. Turnovers again? There are some Danny Wolf howlers from Cadeau but hoping they can coach him to better options.
A growing number of colleges are struggling to convert applicants into enrolled students—and to keep them engaged through graduation. With Gen Z students relying heavily on familiar digital platforms like Instagram and Discord for social interaction, traditional college tools for orientation, enrollment, and community-building often miss the mark. According to research, between 10-40% of students who accept offers at four-year institutions fail to show up in the fall—a phenomenon known as “summer melt.” The stakes are high: universities lose millions annually from melted admits, and students lose momentum toward degrees. So, what if the solution to improving student yield, engagement, and retention isn't another third-party platform—but the apps students are already using? On this episode of DisruptED, guest host Darin Francis, CEO of Harbinger Lane, speaks with Jonah Liss, COO and Co-Founder of MeetYourClass, a student engagement platform born out of Instagram class groups. Broadcasting from ASU+GSV, they discuss how this student-first innovation is helping colleges tap into the social habits of digital natives to drive enrollment outcomes.Key moments in the episode…The student-led origin of MeetYourClass: How Jonah and his co-founders evolved a social media hobby into a yield-boosting platform used by 19 universities—with zero marketing spend. Why traditional platforms fail: Students often ditch school-provided roommate finders and portals in favor of social apps they've used since middle school, contributing to disengagement and summer melt. What's next for MeetYourClass: Plans to integrate housing, events, and student life into a CRM-like platform that starts engaging students well before they apply.Jonah Liss is the COO and Co-Founder of MeetYourClass, a higher ed SaaS platform that leverages social media to increase student yield and reduce summer melt in university campuses. He has led the company's growth to over 500,000 users and partnerships with top institutions, earning recognition from Forbes 30 Under 30 and Techstars. With a background in tech, product development, and early-stage entrepreneurship, Liss has also founded a COVID-19 support platform and held roles in investment banking and data science.
This episode is long overdue, because we've all seen a cosplay so on point that we instantly thought 'NANI'?!?', and we almost got GTA6 before getting to deep dive into the Grand Line that is Cosplaying. And to get that in-depth, expert perspective on what it means to turn imagination into a life-sized Tanjiro with Nezuko in box, we had to get the Cosplay Royalty that is @Folacosplays, with all the tips, tricks, and vybz that we know and love her for, showing why it's not just a costume, it's a passion. Bonus points if you can guess which of the Freshmen have cosplayed before; Clue: He likes Anime and goes to the theatre. Every effort is made to keep spoilers to a minimum. (The only exception being older titles)

You are required to attend 80% of classes. 80%。If you do not do so, we will not be able to give you a certificate of attendance should you require one for any particular purpose. In other words, we will not regard you as having followed the course at all. The compulsory courses are those classes you take in your assigned groups. In a minute, Mr. Lucas will tell you which group you are in. The extra, individual work available in the laboratory or the computer room is, of course, optional. In addition to classwork, you are supposed to put in 3-4 hours a day of private study. This year we have changed our methods of assessment,今年我们改变了考核方法,in an effort to get away from the formal examination and move towards a system which better reflects work done throughout the year. You are required to hand in 5 pieces of written work as part of your final assessment – these you may choose from your class assignments. At the end of the course there will a formal examination consisting of 3 three-hour papers. You do not have to take the last of these – you can submit a 10,000 word extended essay instead. You should discuss the title of this with your tutor. You can obtain more details about the examination from your tutor. On a more practical note, we do not want to have too many rules and regulations, but for the sake of public safety and comfort there must be some. It is expressly forbidden to smoke in the classrooms as this poses a fire hazard. We also ask that you do not take food and drink into the classrooms. About your dorm. You are not permitted to put up overnight guests in your rooms. Similarly,we can't allow you to entertain more than 5 guests during the day in your rooms, as this causes a disturbance. If you wish to hold larger parties, please reserve the common room for that purpose. We hope that you will find these rules reasonable and enjoy your stay with us. I will now hand you back to Miss Johnson, who will assign you to your groups.

“Never take a class before 9:30…always have peanut butter and pretzels in your room…get your flu shot…you'll need more ramen than condoms…you fail in silence…call your parents…90% of bad decisions will happen during O-week…anchor your day in routines...don't piss off your roommate.” These are just a few of the observations Aidan shares with his dad, Ash, from his first year in college in order to separate “myth” from “reality” of what to expect during freshman year. Meanwhile, Ash tries to hold on tight while Aidan gives him a whole new perspective on what it means to “launch.” Season 5 kicks off with a bang, because the boys really don't hold anything back in this episode. Each Sunday, TED shares an episode of another podcast we think you'll love, handpicked for you… by us. Whether it's grades and test scores, cushy jobs or big salaries, our ideas of “success” tend to be incredibly narrow and often start incredibly early. Julie Lythcott-Haims is a New York Times bestselling author and former Dean of Freshmen at Stanford, and she is dedicated to helping people reconsider what really makes a happy, “successful” adult. In this episode of How to Be a Better Human, another podcast from the TED Audio Collective, Julie shares wisdom for parents and anyone who has been parented on why it's crucial to question societal expectations, how to find your own path and why empathy towards yourself and others are the true key to loving who you'll grow up to be.
