Lenny's back, and you know what that means: endless topics and conversation! Teshar got downshifted, so now Lenny and I get to ramble about mono-white combos, discuss CEDH application, and our typical D&D x MTG dreams, as well as anime talk. Check out Lenny on Twitter @LennyWooley, check out his Teshar Power Sink article on EDHRec.
After watching Caleb draft his Powered Synergy Cube on Magic Online for hours, Andy is dying to support some more sweet, synergistic decks in his Bun Magic Cube. After some reflection, he's not sure if that would even work, so he's bringing his hopes and dreams to Anthony to discuss whether it's even possible to support Bazaar of Baghdad, Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle, or Molten Vortex in a cube that is over one-third interaction. I decided to go ahead and make it a 5-color enchantress deck, with all 5 of the Hondens in it. This solved a couple of problems the Kenrith deck had. I had to run too many tutors to reliably find the shrines Kenrith didn’t really interact well with the shrines Talk about how cool Sisay is, and how she does all the things a shrine deck would want. I sent email to myself to look at Sisay in the morning. Also, I included Kethis, Enduring Renewal, Estrid’s Invocation, Mirage Mirror, Sterling Grove, Privileged Position, Fountain Watch, Teshar (this was wrong, I was thinking of Shalai, and that’s also wrong) and Captain Sisay. Many of these didn’t make the final cut. I was just planning on updating my Kenrith Deck, and adding in the 6 new Shrines, but one night I was drifting off to sleep, and I had an idea. Sisay, Weatherlight Captain! The Shrines all scale as you get more shrines, kinda like the Slivers of enchantments. This will give you inevitability if the game goes long enough, and if there aren’t many “destroy all enchantments” effects. Do this live Let’s rank the original Hondens from worst to first in Commander Do this live Let’s do the same thing with the new Sanctums So, what makes this deck so cool? Protection Sterling Grove Privileged Position Greater Auramancy Fountain Watch Creeping Renaissance NOTE: Technically, you do NOT need to run these, because Sanctum of Tranquil Light is a single mana, and fetchable with Sisay before she is pumped up. Sword of the Chosen Shadowspear Sword of the Animist Blackblade Reforged Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers Sisay Enablers Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain (gonna be nuts in this deck) Niambi, Esteemed Speaker Various Enchantresses Card Draw Jhoira's Familiar Honor-Worn Shaku Ramp Captain Sisay Primeval’s Glorious Rebirth (Discuss if Eerie Ultimatum is just better?) Urza’s Ruinous Blast Legends Matter Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage Thran Temporal Gateway Weatherlight Historic Matters Meishin, the Mind Cage Profane Procession Search for Azcanta Teferi's Ageless Insight Oath of Kaya Other cool Legendary Cards Vernal Equinox Paradox Haze (Doesn’t work with 5/6 of the new Sanctums, but really cool with 1 of the 6!) Other cards Other Categories of cards Main Topic -Sisay Shrines Deck Tech What a cool deck! Full of awesome interactions, and legendary cards. Also, it’s totally on point Flavor-wise (I mean there are THREE weatherlight Captains in this list…). To audience land, what cards would you put in here? Is this the kinda deck you would play? Cuckaw!!! Teshar needs to be your new favorite bird cleric. And probably mono-white commander. This episode, freshly minted on Cinco de Cuatro, is bringing some chicken dance flavor to your commander table. Kyle explores Teshar, one of the many new commander possibilities that comes from the latest set: Dominaria. Listen as he talks to Andy about how this commander pilots a very stable combo engine, the likes of which we have yet to see in mono-white. Here's Kyle's Teshar deck list: This episode has intro and outro beats by the artists Home and Dan Terminus. Please check out both of them out. Here's Home on ().
