In this powerful and deeply personal episode, Michael Mogill—founder and CEO of Crisp—shares his journey from a four-year-old immigrant arriving in the U.S. with $500 in his family's pocket to leading one of the most influential companies in the legal marketing space. Raised by parents who had to restart their lives from scratch, Michael became the first in his family to learn English, attend college, and ultimately break into entrepreneurship. From selling POGs in elementary school to building websites in his early teens, his entrepreneurial roots run deep. But it wasn't until a camera, a side hustle, and a market pivot that Crisp was born—changing the legal marketing game forever. Michael dives into the highs and lows of building a business with no investors, the lessons learned from early failures, and the importance of health, clarity, and leadership in sustaining long-term growth. He explains how Crisp evolved from a scrappy video startup into a full-service coaching and marketing firm serving over a thousand law firms, and why he believes every law firm leader must first grow personally to grow professionally. Packed with wisdom on team building, vision-setting, and mindset shifts, this episode is a must-listen for entrepreneurs, legal professionals, and anyone navigating their own path to meaningful success. Takeaways: Starting from humble beginnings and overcoming early-life obstacles—like language barriers and financial hardship—can cultivate resilience and fuel long-term ambition. What starts as a small hustle or hobby can evolve into a thriving business when approached with curiosity, creativity, and persistence. When market conditions change or opportunities fade, strategic pivots—like shifting from hospitality to legal marketing—can lead to more focused and scalable business models.Outworking others and continuously developing personal capabilities are often more crucial than innate talent in building a successful business.Businesses reflect their leaders. Scaling a company requires not just better marketing or products, but also stronger leadership, better decision-making, and alignment across the team.Prioritizing physical and mental well-being is essential for sustainable leadership. It's not something to fix later—it enables better decisions and long-term success.A clear, exciting, and measurable vision is essential for alignment and growth. If the goal doesn't inspire you, it won't inspire your team either.

This week Eric & Scott keep the laughs going as they move on from the 70's & 80s and fast forward (or is it a rewind?) back to the decade of grunge, Pogs, 90210, & dial up internet to rank the best "Comedy Movies from the 90s!." The Blasters & Blades PodcastWe dove into the trenches with the fine folks behind the Pogue One Anthology by Raconteur Press. We had on America's Sergeant Major, Spearman Burke and the infamous Authors DiNote. That would be Christopher DiNote and Jaime DiNote (aka Liska McCabe). It was a lot of fun talking about the unsung heroes behind the armed forces. We call them REMFs, POGUEs or POGs. However you wanna say it, those who support the fighting men had value. They had stories to tell, and this anthology is chalk full of them! I can't wait to see what you guys think, so join the discussion. Seriously, lend us your eyes and ears, you won't be sorry!! Havok Journal owner Charles Faint joins us for an update. Havok Journal is my “go-to” website for all discussion military and first responder. We do a deep dive into three poignant (and somewhat related) articles by former Army Ranger now law enforcement officer Jake Smith and Mike Warnock, Editor in Chief of the Havok Journal. In “Half Staff Flags”, Smith discusses his changed perspective on seeing flags flying at half staff. Where he once saw them as symbols of those fallen in war or civil servants lost, as a law enforcement officer he gained a new perspective. What he sees not is a symbol innocents lost to yet another incident of mass violence. Charles and I discuss the parallels I found in the articles "My Funeral: Let Whatever Pain Caused by My Loss Not Whitewash My Life" by Smith and "The Moment I Knew Why There Were Suicide Bombers" by Mike Warnock. Both articles provide moving insights and a different perspective not often heard by civilians. We have a little fun with a humorous article "Nonners" by Dave Chamberlain. Chamberlain introduces us to the term for airmen who never fix, load or service aircraft. Apparently this is the Air Force equivalent of the Army's POGS (persons other than grunts). We wrap up with Charles sharing his experiences as a volunteer deputy with a local law enforcement agency.

1997 Holden w/ tag misprint and Jake, the OJ Simpson in the Slammer Pog, gear up for a doubleheader as they explore the shortlived baby gambling craze that was quickly banned in schools and Ty Warner's 90's collectible icon that led to literal chaos in stores (plus at least one man to murder), we're talkin' Pogs and Beanie Babies! It's been over a decade since Craig and Ryan have been out to beautiful San Diego, and thanks to listener Dave Adams, the podcast gets a lovely flavor vacation with beers from five of the city's breweries. The lineup is stylistically diverse, the rankings deviate in the middle, and at least one beer surprises at every step. Also, there's a lukewarm take on POGs from our youth; one brewer profile is seemingly inviting potential suitors; hop kief gets its introduction; and the path from Flavor Utopia is followed to meet Smokey Robinson at ‘Gasmville. Beers Reviewed Burgeon Beer Company - Invita (Mexican-Style Lager) Seek Beer Co. - Scenic Route (Strawberry & Banana Fruited Sour) Ketch Brewing - Celestial Navigation (San Diego-Style IPA) Pure Project Brewing - River Queen (Murky Triple IPA) White Labs Brewing Co. - Frankenstout WLP096 Frankenyeast Blend (American Stout)

Patreon.com/RememberTheGame We're double dipping on Donkey Kong. Last week we talked about the OG arcade game, and this week we're talking about the hidden gem of the DK franchise: Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! For some reason, people seem to think I hate this game, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Do I think it's the third best game in the DKC trilogy? Yes. But I'd also put that trilogy up against just about any platforming trilogy ever made. I don't hate this game at all. I just hate Kiddy Kong. My guest this week is long-time supporter of the show, Carbon Fibre Zombie (real name, as far as I know). We spent over an hour talking about why this game struggles to shine in the shadows of its older brothers, and why it shouldn't because it's still awesome. We also sing the praises of the greatest Kong of all-time (Dixie) and dump a little on the worst Kong (Kiddy) And before we eat bananas, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if I had to choose, would I only play my favourite games of all-time, or all the other games ever made?? What the hell is going on with our Subreddit??? And where do/did I stand on POGs?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features the greatest platforming trilogy of all-time: Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
