What if the real reason you feel distant from God… is something you've been overlooking? In today's episode of The Disciples Journal, we're unpacking Hebrews 12:14 — a verse that doesn't just talk about holiness, but reveals why so many of us struggle to feel close to God. Darin breaks down how sin doesn't drive God away from us… but it does distort our view of Him. Through a powerful moment of personal conviction, we explore how holiness isn't about perfection — it's about intimacy. About seeing God clearly. About giving Him all of who we are. Whether you've walked with God for years or you're trying to find your way back, this episode will shift how you see sin, holiness, and the invitation God gives us every day to draw near.
Changing the world. We all have that secret desire, don't we? Changing the world in Kingdom terms is not measured in the BIG, the BIGGER and the BIGGEST actions in our life and work. It's the opposite. Changing the world happens, one person, one word and one action at a time. It can be as small as a smile, a kind word, or a self-less act of service. It's counter-intuitive, just like the work of Christ. So how about you? Would you like to change the world? Would you be willing to start today, changing the corner of the world where God has placed YOU? We invite you to start changing the world RIGHT NOW, with ONE smile, ONE kind word, and ONE kind action.
Ready to break down the walls holding you back in business and life? In this powerful episode of School of Impact, we sit down with a former firefighter turned fitness entrepreneur and marketing mentor, whose near-death experience sparked a journey from rock bottom to building a thriving business and inspiring thousands. If you've ever faced imposter syndrome, struggled to stand out in a saturated market, or wondered how to turn your story into your superpower—this episode is for you. Tune in and discover how consistency, authenticity, and courage can transform your message into a movement. Listen now! “Consistency and just showing up and being you, don't feel like you have to put on a mask or be a certain kind of way. Just be you and actually try to give people useful, tangible value. And remember, value is in the eye of the beholder. It's what the person perceives it to be.” Key Takeaways: Your Story Is Your Superpower: Sharing authentic personal experiences can be a powerful differentiator in business. Consistency Beats Talent: Showing up consistently, even when you're not at your best, is more important than having perfect talent. Stand Out by Speaking to Subconscious Symptoms: Rather than just describing benefits or features, stand out by addressing your audience's real-life problems and inner struggles. Like a good doctor, if you can articulate your clients' pain better than they can, you'll gain their trust and attention. Use Your Unique Methodology to Create Impact: Developing a distinct message, framework, or solution (e.g., the “Stubborn Fat Solution”) gives your audience something tangible and memorable, increasing your credibility and appeal in a crowded market. Play to Your Zone of Genius: Whether it's writing, video, podcasting, or speaking, lean into the content format that feels most natural to you. Authenticity and alignment with your strengths produce better results than forcing strategies that don't fit your personality. Long-Form Content Builds Deeper Connection: Masterclasses, talks, and other long-form content allow you to shift beliefs, showcase social proof, and sell a new identity to your audience. This depth of engagement is more powerful than relying on short-form, high-volume content alone. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today's it's how the Steelers defense might be able to better match up against the Baltimore Ravens with Zay Flowers looking likely to be out of the starting lineup. Flower is Baltimore's best and shiftiest wide receiver, and the toughest player for the Steelers to match up with in zone coverage. After their communication problems that greatly hindered their efforts last time around, the Steelers could just play a simpler defense with less communication required, focusing on man-to-man coverage. Usually, it's hard to play against Lamar Jackson in man coverage, because he can beat you with his legs, but Patrick Queen has shown the ability to take that away as a spy. The rest of the Ravens receivers don't look like tough 1 on 1 matchup for the Steelers defense, so it could be a ploy Pittsburgh uses to gain a leg up on Saturday. Alan breaks it down. If you struggle with getting things done and being productive - I have one strategy, one change that will make you 10 times more productive. I love working with and studying high achievers and this one skill is something they all have. We're going through how most people tackle tasks and make decisions and how high achievers do. And then, how you can start doing things this way right away. It's one shift in how you do every thing, that changes the game. We are learning into the power of undivided attention, leading to more effective, efficient, and high-quality outcomes. Focus on one thing at a time - do it the very best you can, then move on. It's mono-tasking at it's finest. On the daily... Improved Quality of Work: When you dedicate your full attention to a single project, you can dive deeper into the details and nuances. This focused effort often leads to higher-quality results. For instance, a writer working on a novel without distractions is more likely to produce a well-crafted manuscript compared to if they were juggling multiple writing projects. Faster Completion Time: By concentrating on one task, you minimize the time lost to context-switching. For example, a software developer who focuses solely on debugging a specific piece of code can resolve issues faster than if they were constantly shifting between debugging and feature development. Enhanced Problem-Solving: Monotasking allows you to immerse yourself fully in a problem, which often leads to more creative and effective solutions. Consider an architect working on a building design; uninterrupted focus enables them to explore innovative solutions and address potential issues more thoroughly. Reduced Stress and Burnout: Handling multiple tasks simultaneously can be overwhelming and lead to stress. Monotasking reduces this strain by simplifying your workload. For instance, a project manager who tackles one project at a time can manage deadlines and expectations more effectively, reducing the risk of burnout. Increased Mastery and Expertise: Focusing on a single project allows you to gain deeper expertise and mastery in that area. For example, a researcher concentrating on one scientific study can develop a more nuanced understanding and contribute more significant findings than if they were dividing their attention among several studies. In the big picture, in the words of Alex Hormuz… “The only way to achieve extraordinary results is to focus on one thing at a time and become obsessed with it.” “Your ability to focus on one thing for an extended period of time is directly correlated with your success.” “Success comes from the ability to concentrate your energy and efforts on a single goal until it's achieved.”
Today, I am blessed to have JJ Virgin here with me. As a triple-board certified nutrition expert and Fitness Hall of Famer, JJ is a passionate advocate of nutrition's healing power and is mission-driven to ignite a movement of women choosing to age powerfully. After decades of watching women strive to shrink themselves, JJ is urging women to step into their power—physically and personally. Using her principles of powerful aging, she inspires women to get strong, bold, and get what they want in life. In this episode, JJ emphasizes that many people focus on minor details, like specific diets or exercises, instead of prioritizing the big rocks—the major actions that make the biggest impact. First and foremost, she advises prioritizing protein at meals, especially eating it first. Protein is metabolically expensive to digest, helps manage hunger, reduces cravings, and is crucial for building muscle. A comprehensive approach combining resistance training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and consistent movement is essential to optimize body fat loss and overall fitness. Full-body workouts outperform split routines for body composition, while HIIT is particularly effective at reducing visceral fat. A foundational practice is tracking daily steps, aiming for at least 8,000 steps, gradually progressing to higher intensity by adding resistance, like a rucking vest.
