In part 4 of the Saga of Earth series we fast forward to the 1400s. A time when the world as we know it was being birthed. Though it was 600 years ago, we can see a very clear line of events that happened showing how this Saturn energy came to play in to some of the issues we experience in our current world order. Working with three examples: Vlad Impaler, the Doctrine of Discovery (used to justify colonialism and destruction around the world) as well as the Witch Hammer (responsible for the witch hunts) I demonstrate key moments in our story where the false idol was present and how it became embedded in politics, decision making, and alliance. Even right down to the way we look at maps and practice spirituality. I’ve got to say this is one of our more melodic, sequential & tuneful edition, but not without a few more ambient tracks of ancient-modern sacred space music, and experimental complex sonic tapestries verging on the dark side. We like to welcome the musicians featured for the first time on Sequences. Icing Wolf with her great mix of 80's EM, ranging from Jarre to TD, another melodic release from Liam Boyle, on Waveforms. From Tucson Arizona, guitarist and composer John Gregorius. creates his own wonderful blend of guitar-based music. Shinjuku Thief, classic Gothic, Industrial, Electronic, Ambient masterpiece, paying homage to German expressionist film of the 1920′s and supernatural horror from the 1500′s. Lively and spirited new work from Masa Takumi incorporating ancient instruments like the shamisen and the koto, a stringed instrument that is the national instrument of his native Japan, with modern sounds. Off-key melodies and gentle analog from the days of old by Letters Of Mouse, rounding up with João Vairinhos who has become one of the dearest names in the Portuguese underground scene of dark intense ambient & drone music. The Vintage track comes from Robert Schroeder's first recording, Harmonic Decadence rejected in 1978, then went back into the studio where the well-known debut album, Harmonic Ascendant was created. Harmonic Decadence was finally released in 2017, as part of the D.M.O. series on Spheric Music. It was sad to hear that the co-founder of Kraftwerk, Florian Schneider passed away recently with cancer. Florian was multi-talented and played the synthesizer, vocoder, flute, and sax & is credited with the band taking electronic music mainstream. We are back, Theophiloi! After a bona fide Act of God, we've returned to read the capital-A Apocryphal Book of Tobit, and it is a wild one. Join us for the most canonical of the non-canonical books, in which we find out exactly why you shouldn't go to sleep under a wall, what fish parts you need if you do, and meet an ironically prudish demon and an angel who's cool but rude. Plus: What happens if we find a brand new book of the Bible, autographed by God? Topics of discussion include: Janelle Monae, Tisha B'Av, the debatable sacrament of Cheddar Bay Biscuits, "The Sons of Thunder," the Dead Sea Scrolls, Antigone, the second ominous black sarcophagus, the lowercase grateful dead, Monster In The Bridal Chamber as a genre, Jack of the Tales and the sack that he used to capture Death, rough times in Ninevah, Asmodeus, Watership Down (or maybe Redwall?), the Seven Princes of Hell, Solomon and his demon bros, the Malleus Maleficarum aka the Witch Hammer (please note we only endorse the title, not the content), the Lantern of Light, the actual true amount of money for which Julius Caesar was ransomed because I know things sometimes too, Angel Disguises, a continuity patch for the book of Daniel, St. Raphael, Dubuque, Iowa, why angels are also saints, Tobias the Eighth, Tiffany and Chad, the first of many rules about angels, Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim. Special thanks to Cathy Leamy for telling us about "Sons of Thunder!" If you like the show, why not head to ko-fi.com/apocrypals to pitch in a few bucks? You don't have to tithe 10% of your income to us, but, I mean, we also wouldn't turn that down.
Welcome to the official release day of Panels of Blood. Traditionally comics are released on Wednesday so this makes sense, yeah? Big thanks to Rick Hunter for use of his music and Chris Bugarin for his amazing art!
