En 2016 publicó el álbum World on Fire. S6E47 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 23 Nov 2023. The live show was a bit of a disaster due to the fibre going down, I had to abort half way through. The podcast however is great. We kicked off with ‘Good Times' by Jimmy Barnes in a duet with the late great Michael Hutchins. From there it was ‘all systems dogs' as Danie Maritz used to say. We covered a wide range of rock and roll from around the world and across the decades. See Artists featured below to check out who was on the show. The Immortals track this week featured Guitar God Yngwie Malmsteen. His Rising Force album left guitarists around the world gob smacked. It was hard to believe anyone could play this fast with super human precision. The Icarus Dream Suite is the prefect showcase of what Yngwie was all about. This weeks Diabolical Challenge didn't get a lot of love. It is interesting how many people that love rock and metal and know all the classic bands seemed to stop listening in about 2010. I found it difficult to get any clear favourite out of these four. Most people just had not listened to them: Foo Fighters – Concrete and GoldArch Enemy – Will To PowerKreator – Gods of ViolenceAccept – The Rise of Chaos Artists featured: Jimmy Barnes, Clutch, The L.A. Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Richard makes some bold and outrageous claims about his fuzz pedal credentials having built exactly one pedal ever and has had some help from one of our supporters and tells us all about it before he and Brian have a genius business idea. Yes genius that is what i said. Blake enquires about the density of a key component and Richard has the geekiest thing he has ever owned. Brian has had a long weekend, a veritable blur of guitar activity, and he tells us all about the Woodshed Guitar experience. He hung with some of the finest players and effects minds in the business - and possibly trolled them all - and has an amazingly coincidental story about Brent Mason. It's fair to say a good time was had by all and somewhere out there there is footage of Brian in a hot jam. Brian also got to play the new PRS 'Telecaster' style guitar and he was surprised by his reaction. There has been some controversy in the guitar word related to a well known retailer / youtuber and their involvement with an amp company which the guys were surprised by as they all thought it was common knowledge. The guys look at the serious side but also can't help but see the funny side too. There's also an update on the Van Halen video we discussed last week. Adjusting trimpots, Indiana snow, Eric Johnson, The Metaverse, Bunking with Greg Koch, Yngwie...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! This episode is sponsored by the fine folk at Pickupmusic.com and Stringjoy.comThanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.com Support the show

Weezer's Rivers Cuomo sits down with Shifty to talk Yngwie, Phish, and the outro solo to "Only in Dreams" off the “Blue” album. Head to http://volume.com/shifty to watch the full episodes! "I don't use effects," Rivers Cuomo states, matter-of-factly, to Chris Shiflett on this second episode of Shred With Shifty. That might come as a bit of a shock to all the Weezer fans out there who went and bought a Big Muff in an effort to imitate the alt-rock guitarist's sound. For his tones on the band's famous debut album, he went straight into his amp, and the only effect heard on that record, he says, was a bit of delay on the swells in "Only in Dreams." The outro solo to "Only in Dreams," the final song on the album, is the subject of this ep. And after the guitarists spend a few minutes discussing Cuomo's inspirations, influences, and the production of both that album and the band's sleeper success, Pinkerton, Cuomo walks Shifty through the solo lick by lick. There's the sequence of octaves high up on the neck, colored by an unexpectedly placed major 7th chord ... and Cuomo's vibrato, which reminds Chris of Brian May. What shapes a guitarist's vibrato? “Must have something to do with your nerves between your brain and your fingers,” Cuomo says. Before the recording of the album at Electric Lady Studios in NYC, Weezer's label insisted they work with a producer, which Cuomo rejected at first. Then he heard the Cars' "Just What I Needed" in the supermarket one day, and sought out the band's guitarist, Ric Ocasek. Ocasek was the one to push Cuomo to record an outro solo over the previously stripped-down, rhythm-section-based final three minutes of "Only in Dreams." After weeks of Ocasek's encouragement, Cuomo found himself alone in the studio one weekend and improvised his way through the solo. "This might be hard to believe, but when we started out, we were much more like a hippie band," Cuomo explains, describing his past devotion to Trey Anastasio. As it turns out, part of the "Only in Dreams" solo came out of Weezer's jamming portions of the song during their live shows. Click below to subscribe to the podcast! «Yngwie who?...

The legend of Alcatrazz goes without saying. The band has created some timeless music and sprouted a few of the most famous instrumentalists in the history of rock music. They are a tower of achievement, existing in the space few musical acts dwell.Alcatrazz has existed, in one form or another, for 35 years, and tomorrow, the band will release their 5th album, the appropriately titled 5 or V, if you're Roman. By the grace of God, I was given the opportunity to chat with iconic frontman, Doogie White, the face and voice of this classic transatlantic metal wonder. Doogie was all the things I crave in a conversation. He was funny, witty, clearly appreciative of his role in the band, and above all kind. Yes, that's a big deal. Doogie is proof that being prepared for the moment should still require one to be grateful for this life as well. Without saying anything else, let's get to it. This is Doogie White, the man with the soaring vocal range that crushes a 1000 ancient warriors. What drew me to him was his amazing talent and his awesome choice of guitar - a lime green Suhr. This was a guitarist with all the right influences (Eddie, Dimebag, Yngwie, Petrucci, Chris Amott), yet you couldn't find a more interesting image. He doesn't use a Floyd Rose bridge, but a two-prong vibrato. He doesn't play a Jackson or a Dean, but a Suhr. And yet, his tone, sound, look and feel is in my opinion a cut above the rest. He lets the music talk for him, and I think you will be hearing about him in a few years if you don't already know. #ifyoudontknownowyouknow Born in America and raised in Bangladesh, he moved back to the states and started jamming with like-minded musicians to form The Poynt, a rock band that's taking New York City over. He also contributed to live performances with F-Bomb, where he recently performed a flawless rendition of “Eruption” by Van Halen. Adhnan was happy to see one of his guitar heroes in the audience to witness his performance who then sang his praise (he talks about it in this episode). We also talk about his various endorsement deals (Friedman Amplifiers, EMG Pickups, and Morley Pedals - a rarity for independent musicians). In my opinion, Adhnan Sulaiman is the American dream personified - a kid from a humble background who put his talent to use and is achieving goals. On the 15th Episode of the Album Review Crew, Tom & Zeus & Sonny review the 1988 album by guitar legend, Yngwie Malmsteen, Odyssey. This is the guitarist's 4th album and his highest charting album to date. Ynwgie enlists singer Joe Lynn Turner and retains the Johansson brothers, Jens & Anders on keyboards and drums respectively. This was Yngwie's most ambitious commercial attempt for mainstream success. The album is filled with Yngwie's wizardry and JLT's smooth melodic vocals. As usual the guys breakdown the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and album cover against the previous 13 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew Episodes. So Hold On and look into your Crystal Ball because there's a Rising Force coming Faster Than The Speed Of Light or maybe its Deja Vu or you are Dreaming, but Now Is The Time for you to Bite The Bullet and have a Riot In the Dungeons and escape before the mighty Krakatau makes Memories of us all and we can be in Heaven Tonight.Or maybe it's just that damn bumble bee!Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content?
