This is actually the audio of a sermon that I delivered digitally for Juneteenth. In the midst of the current movement for Black Lives and the eradication of racism these words should call those in power to better understand the truth of the world they have created, and to consider what it will take to atone for the centuries of oppressing, marginalizing and KILLiNG black of bodies. At this point I celebrate the hell out of July 4th to remind angry white people that this is my country. I'll never let them forget that we built this shit and that the bill is still past due!

In this episode Rev. Derek discusses how Auntie Maxine (Congressperson Maxine Waters) just continues to inspire us with her status as the "Queen of Shade" with one simple declaration: "If you wish to leave, you may." Rev. Derek also parallels the strength, courage, and example of the California Congressperson with the monstrous and vile recent beating of Trans Person of Color (TPOC) Muhlaysia Booker in Dallas Texas. He also calls for prayers for the 850 year of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris that recently caught fire. "Come discuss a region in my mind..." - Rev. Derek

Derek's coming of age story, and reflect on racism, homophobia, religion and the like.
Recently Kim Burrell pissed off many R&B fans by throwing shade at that incomparable Fantasia in an attempt to encourage embattled gospel singer Le'Andria Johnson. Journey through A Region In My Mind as I challenge Kim Burrell and people who think like her to do better. Hear the actual clips of Kim Burrell.
