In today's episode “Though You Knew All This,” we're looking at the story of the mysterious writing on the wall in Daniel 5 and how this speaks to us about learning, humility, and the massive love and goodness of God. Have you ever chased after an idea, goal, or title, only to realize that it isn't what you really want? Brooklyn Lindsey is back this week to remind us to step back and assess our desires. Once we peel back the layers, and understand what we are passionate about, we can take steps to align what we want with what we do. The powerful reminder in all of this is that we can't do it alone. We need a crash (which is a what a group of rhinos is called) to help us move past what seems immovable. We need people in our corner who lovingly, but firmly, remind us purpose and calling when we get turned upside down. Brooklyn is the co-founder of Somos Church in Lakeland, FL where she solves problems and celebrates her community with her husband, Coy Lindsey. She has been serving in youth ministry since 2001 and currently works as the Director of Content Development at Stuff You Can Use—an organization that helps ministries grow! She is the owner of an online and pop-up bookstore called Crash Bookshop and is a volunteer volleyball coach at Southwest Middle School and Lakeland High School (Beach) where she spends time with her teenage daughters Kirra and Mya. You can check out several of Brooklyn's books, including Confessions of a Not-So-Supermodel and The Kingdom Experiment, Youth Edition, along with many other resources from other authors at www.crashbookshop.org. You can also learn more about Brooklyn's work on instagram at @somoschurch, @crash_bookshop, and @stuffyoucanuse.
Have you ever been deeply invested in an idea or project, but you just can't seem to ever see it through to competition? To be honest, I have found myself in this situation TOO MANY TIMES to count. Today on the podcast, one of my mentors, Brooklyn Lindsey is here to remind us to keep pursuing our purposes! Brooklyn is one of the most creative people I know and her vulnerability and unique perspectives will cause you to spit out your coffee and laugh out loud, while simultaneously inspiring you to run after your dreams with greater courage.
