Big Idea: God has plans for each of His children and He meticulously prepares us to execute those plans. Understanding joseph: Joseph resolves a lot of the problematic threats presented in the narrative. He is used by God to resolve dangerous threats to the covenant line. Joseph is a problem solver, a threat eradicator, he is a type of savior. 1. God prepares us by testing our commitment (vs 2) 2. God prepares us through difficulties and mistreatment (vs 3-11)

Big Idea: Compromise and assimilation with the world are batttles that God's people of all ages have to fight. Why is this included in Scripture? I. It explains Jacob's prphetic blessings upon his sons II. It explains the prohibition of marrying Canaanites Text Structure Transgression, vs. 1-4 Negotiation, vs. 5-17 Persuasion, vs. 18-24 Retribution, vs. 25-31 1- The danger of adopting the world's sexual ethics 2- The danger of adopting the world's carefree view of sin 3- The danger of adpoting the world's selective morality

Big idea: The importance of dealing with past offences and not allowing them to hinder what the Lord has for us in the present and the future. 1- The necessity of doing what you can to face past offences 2- The Lord's encouragement and reassurance when facing past offences 3- Past offences and desired restorations should rovoke us to pray
