God Gives a Jesus Follower's Life Meaning and Purpose, Satisfies their Hunger to Know Their Life's Purpose, and Forgives Their Sins MESSAGE SUMMARY: As Jesus tells us in John 15:12-14, that you, as His follower, are His “friend: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends.". God became flesh, and He dwelt among us. God became human to draw you into a personal relationship with Him. In John 1:14, the Apostle John identifies Jesus as the “Son of the Father”: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.". God alone can satisfy the meaning and purpose of your life. God alone can satisfy your hunger to know your life's meaning. Most importantly, God alone can give you forgiveness of your sins as Paul tells us in Colossians 2:13-14: “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.". Jesus' life, miracles, death, and His Resurrection are invitations to a life-long personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe. Our personal relationship with God is through His gift, to Jesus Followers, of the Holy Spirit. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, help me to grab hold of you today. I need you. Set me free to begin reorienting my life around you, and you alone. Help me to pay attention to and honor how you have uniquely made me. Thank you for the gift of rest. In Jesus' name, amen. In this sermon, we looked at Psalm 16 and were reminded that the joy we often chase through moments of anticipation can leave us uncertain, disappointed, and still wanting more. But true joy—lasting joy—comes from a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus. In his presence, we receive a joy that does not fade and does not leave us lacking. As believers, we can rest knowing that joy comes from Jesus himself, and in him our souls finally find a joy that fully satisfies.
Why do we seek beauty and greatness? In this episode of Light + Truth, John Piper shows from 2 Thessalonians 1:9–10 that we were made to marvel at Christ's infinite glory.
In Your Personal Relationship with Jesus, Fast and Feast with Jesus to Drink Heartily of His Word as Jesus Satisfies and Nourishes You MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of the time when you are fasting, you are thinking about what you must give up in the fast. Rather, in your fasting, than focusing on “going without” you should think of fasting as a call by Jesus to come to Him and feast with Him. Paul's example for us, in Acts 14:22-23, occurs after he had been stoned and left for dead after preaching the Gospel in Antioch. Rather than leaving the field of discipleship in fear, Paul returned the next day to preach the Gospel and: “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.". In your feast with Jesus, you can drink heartily of His Word to let Jesus satisfy and nourish you. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, help me to grab hold of you today. I need you. Set me free to begin reorienting my life around you, and you alone. Help me to pay attention to and honor how you have uniquely made me. Thank you for the gift of rest. In Jesus' name, amen. “Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread. . . . Arrange them . . . on the table of pure gold before the Lord.” — Leviticus 24:5-6 In the tabernacle there is a table stacked with 12 loaves of bread, representing all of God's people. The table and the utensils on it are made of pure gold. Since the tabernacle was the place to enjoy fellowship with God, it made sense that there would be a place to sit and eat! But what would God feed his people? In the Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis uses food to show how we often hunger for things that cannot satisfy. Young Edmund is swayed to follow an evil witch who promises to give him Turkish delight—only to learn that candy cannot really satisfy him. Many of us hunger for “food” that cannot nourish our souls. We chase after wealth, career success, athletic trophies, and social status, hoping to satisfy the longing in our souls. But these are all just stale bites that leave us hungry. The bread in the tabernacle is meant to remind us that, just as God nourished Israel with bread and meat in the wilderness (Exodus 16), he will continue to nourish us. The bread God gives us is himself! Jesus had this in mind when he declared, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35)! Looking to Jesus in faith is to feed on him, and he nourishes us in ways that no earthly “food” ever can. In Jesus, we are drawn into fellowship with the God who loves us more than anything, who promises never to leave us, and who removes our sin from us once and for all! That is food that can satisfy. Father, thank you for filling us with the true bread that can satisfy the longing in our souls. Nourish us each day, we pray. In Christ, Amen.
What does it mean to fast, and why does Scripture tie it so closely to prayer? In this episode, Dot and Cara open Matthew 4:1–4 and talk about fasting not as a way to manipulate God, but as a way to draw near, remove distractions, and realign our hearts with His will. Together they explore how biblical fasting differs from today's health trends, how hunger can point us back to prayer, and how this practice can tune our hearts to trust God more deeply. Grab your Bible, a journal, and a cup of coffee, and join this conversation about dependence, desire, and hearing from God!Got a question about today's episode or something else you'd like to hear us talk about on the show? “I searched in my heart how to gratify my flesh with wine, while guiding my heart with wisdom, and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men to do under heaven all the days of their lives…And indeed all was vanity and grasping for wind. There was no profit under the sun.” Ecc. 2: 3,11What really satisfies? What really satisfies: amusements=pleasure and parties?Solomon's pleasures:-gold, gold, and more gold-throne of ivory -camels-horses-mules-apes-monkeys-precious stones-instruments of every kind- silver, silver, and more silver-fleet of ships-1,400 chariots-12,000 horse men-servants-700 royal wives and 300 concubines“I said in my heart, ‘come now, I will test you with mirth (festivals/parties); therefore, enjoy pleasure.'. But surely, this also was vanity.” Ecc 2:1What really satisfies: accomplishments=work?Solomon's work:-Lord's house and his house-House of Forrest of Lebanon-Hall of Pillars-Hall of Jerusalem-Hall of Judgement-Cities“I made my works great…So, I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem.” Ecc 2:4, 9“I looked at all the works my hands had done and in the labor in which I had looked; and indeed, all was vanity and grasping for wind.” Ecc 2:11“Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure. For my heart rejoiced in all my labor…” Ecc 2:10“there was no profit under the sun.” Ecc 2:11Nothing under the sun satisfies.Every earthly pursuit is like vapor, wind, dust; it fades away“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘give me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10“where then do you get that living water?” John 4:11“Whoever drinks this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-141) Earthly satisfaction2) Eternal satisfactionEarthly satisfaction are those things found under the sun. Eternal satisfaction are those things found under the Son. Jesus is the gift God gave and under him (in him) is our promise of lasting satisfaction: everlasting lifeThe key to satisfaction is knowing the value of God over everything else. It's not that everything on earth is bad. It's that Christ is better. The satisfaction we seek is in Jesus, who is with God the Father, in our father's house.Ecc 3:11 says God “has written eternity on our hearts”.Phil 3:20-21 says our “citizenship is in heaven”. 2 Cor 5:12 says “we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling”. Solomon teaches us life under the sun does not satisfy.Samaritan woman teaches us satisfaction comes when we know Jesus (life under the Son).Prodigal son teaches us to find eternal satisfaction in Jesus is to remember what house we belong to

We live in a culture that constantly craves applause, where even sincere acts of faith can quietly become performances aimed at earning approval. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar remind believers that this desire for recognition is deeply rooted in idolatry and must be surrendered to God. The guys encourage Christians to examine their motives, especially in ministry, and to serve out of love rather than a desire for recognition. Preaching should be centered on God's Word, not on entertainment or showmanship. While humor and illustrations can be helpful, they should never distract from the truth or shift the focus away from Christ. The rise of social media exacerbates this struggle, training hearts to equate value with attention; yet, the call of the gospel is to live for God's glory alone. True freedom comes through the cross, where believers are already entirely accepted by God. Rooted in that security, we can walk humbly, pray continually, and serve faithfully, knowing that obedience and love—not applause—are the marks of a life that pleases Him.Send us a textThanks for listening! Lord Śiva is described in this verse as the chief of all thinkers. Lord Śiva, of course, does not engage in useless mental speculation, but as stated in the previous verse, he is always thoughtful regarding how to deliver the demons from their fallen condition of life. It is said that during the advent of Lord Caitanya, Sadāśiva appeared as Advaita Prabhu, and Advaita Prabhu's chief concern was to elevate the fallen conditioned souls to the platform of devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa. Since people were engaged in useless occupations which would continue their material existence, Lord Śiva, in the form of Lord Advaita, appealed to the Supreme Lord to appear as Lord Caitanya to deliver these illusioned souls. Actually Lord Caitanya appeared on the request of Lord Advaita. Similarly, Lord Śiva has a sampradāya, the Rudra sampradāya. He is always thinking about the deliverance of the fallen souls, as exhibited by Lord Advaita Prabhu. Why do we worry? Because worrying changes anything? Because worrying is good for us? Because maybe God won't actually provide for us like he promised? Nope, nope, and nope. Worry is not rooted in any of those things, but in something else entirely. And the good news is that you already have the antidote to worry. The antidote to worry is not merely paying lip service to our greatest treasure - Jesus - but actually treasuring him above all else.

Delivered by Mitchell Lever 20th July 2025. God created humanity with various desires and needs to be met through our relationship with him. The world offers alternatives in God's absence. Alcohol is one example. It is important that we understand what alcohol is, how the bible views it's consumption, and God's promise to completely meet our needs (Jhn 6:35). In doing this, we uphold God's testimony as 'the light of the world, a city set on a hill', we remain 'in the world but not of the world', and we are able to give an answer 'to every man that asks a reason of the hope' that is in us (Mat 5:14, Pet 3:15, 1Per 2:9). June 29th, 2025 | The Love of God | 1 John 2:15-17; 5:1-5We all know the world can't truly satisfy us—but if that's true, why do we keep chasing it?In this message, Pastor Matt Darby unpacks a powerful truth from 1 John: the love of God isn't just better than the love of the world—it's the only love that satisfies. Through deep reflection on two key passages, we're invited to examine the cravings of our hearts and find freedom through a greater affection. The love of the world is shallow, fleeting, and incompatible with the love of the Father. But the love of God in Christ changes everything. It transforms what we love, how we live, and empowers us to overcome the very things that used to own our hearts. In this episode, we see:Why worldly desires will never fulfill what your soul longs forHow faith in Jesus leads to both obedience and freedomThe dangers of divided affection—and the joy of a heart consumed by GodWhy loving Jesus more is the path to victory over sinWhat it means to be born of God and live as an overcomer"When we behold and abide in God's love, our cravings for lesser loves begin to die."Do you know JESUS? https://www.nbgilmer.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER? https://www.nbgilmer.org/praySupport through GIVING: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving

Today, pastor Ray Bentley highlights the message of James to a generation facing great temptation. Since we are God's children and he is content gingerly showering us with gifts from the perfection of his throne. Why should evil have even the slightest attraction for us? So take temptation. Can't get to the curb and walk into the light of the glory of God.

Pastor Ray Bentley with insight today on our times of testing. Every child of God has a unique path that is designed by God to bring you into areas where you will be tested. He tests us to let us know what's really in our hearts or what areas need to be worked on. He does not test us so that he can find out what's in our hearts.
Actually, chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is the only thing that can completely satisfy the heart, and one of the reasons is—or the main reason is—that we're part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa. We have a very intimate relationship with Him. In one sense, we are Kṛṣṇa because we're one of His limbs. On the other side, achintya bheda abheda: we have our own identity. It's achintya, inconceivable. But if you consider how intimate we are, as Prabhupada explains, if you have a limb like a finger, what will you do to protect your finger? How will you take care of it? How important do you consider it to be? So, Kṛṣṇa considers every one of us to be important because we're His limbs, we're His parts and parcels—in one sense, on one side, non-different from Kṛṣṇa. And the feeling of separation from Him, dvitiya, thinking that I'm something separate from Him, is the cause of a completely different world. It's a world in which there's ignorance of the fact that we're part of Krishna, we're eternally His servants, and we enjoy in cooperation with Him, just as the finger does in cooperation with the hand and the rest of the body. So, chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa feels so good because we finally have that respite we need from the pounding we get in the material world when we're trying to arrange things separately from Kṛṣṇa. We're just fully putting our attention in the hands of Krishna and just focusing on His name. Just as an experiment for a few minutes, we can probably only take about four or five in the time we have left. But I'd like you to rate yourself on a scale of one to ten. Ten means samadhi, that you attained complete absorption, that you're just fully fixed on the name without any fluctuation of your attention to any other place. One means that you were like sleeping on the floor and dreaming about some other land. Where did you end up on the scale? How do you rate yourself in the last 45 minutes of chanting the maha-mantra? Say a number—you don't have to give a long explanation, just a short one. And then say one thing that you find to be endearing about And then say one thing that you find to be endearing about Kṛṣṇa. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
