Big Idea: God is even working in the small stuff!Esther 2:1-14I. Better to choose wisely than regret badly. Esther 2:1-4Some time later, when King Ahasuerus's rage had cooled down, he remembered Vashti, what she had done, and what was decided against her. The king's personal attendants suggested, “Let a search be made for beautiful young virgins for the king. Let the king appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom, so that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to the harem at the fortress of Susa. Put them under the supervision of Hegai, the king's eunuch, keeper of the women, and give them the required beauty treatments. Then the young woman who pleases the king will become queen instead of Vashti.” This suggestion pleased the king, and he did accordingly.II. God can construct an epic story from your worst moments. Esther 2:5-7In the fortress of Susa, there was a Jewish man named Mordecai son of Jair, son of Shimei, son of Kish, a Benjaminite. Kish had been taken into exile from Jerusalem with the other captives when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took King Jeconiah of Judah into exile. Mordecai was the legal guardian of his cousin Hadassah (that is, Esther), because she had no father or mother. The young woman had a beautiful figure and was extremely good-looking. When her father and mother died, Mordecai had adopted her as his own daughter.III. Find God's favor in any circumstance. Esther 2:8-9When the king's command and edict became public knowledge and when many young women were gathered at the fortress of Susa under Hegai's supervision, Esther was taken to the palace, into the supervision of Hegai, keeper of the women. The young woman pleased him and gained his favor so that he accelerated the process of the beauty treatments and the special diet that she received. He assigned seven hand-picked female servants to her from the palace and transferred her and her servants to the harem's best quarters.IV. Borrow wisdom carefully, and share it generously. Esther 2:10-14Esther did not reveal her ethnicity or her family background, because Mordecai had ordered her not to make them known. Every day Mordecai took a walk in front of the harem's courtyard to learn how Esther was doing and to see what was happening to her. During the year before each young woman's turn to go to King Ahasuerus, the harem regulation required her to receive beauty treatments with oil of myrrh for six months and then with perfumes and cosmetics for another six months. When the young woman would go to the king, she was given whatever she requested to take with her from the harem to the palace. She would go in the evening, and in the morning she would return to a second harem under the supervision of the king's eunuch Shaashgaz, keeper of the concubines. She never went to the king again, unless he desired her and summoned her by name.Next Steps: Believe: I, Jesus, to do his biggest miracle in my soul today.Become: I will trust God with the small stuff this week. February 15, 2026Judges 13:1-5, 14:1-9And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children. And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”Samson went down to Timnah, and at Timnah he saw one of the daughters of the Philistines. Then he came up and told his father and mother, “I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah. Now get her for me as my wife.” But his father and mother said to him, “Is there not a woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.” His father and mother did not know that it was from the Lord, for he was seeking an opportunity against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines ruled over Israel. Then Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnah, and they came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion came toward him roaring. Then the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and although he had nothing in his hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a young goat. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done. Then he went down and talked with the woman, and she was right in Samson's eyes. After some days he returned to take her. And he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. He scraped it out into his hands and went on, eating as he went. And he came to his father and mother and gave some to them, and they ate. But he did not tell them that he had scraped the honey from the carcass of the lion.Big Idea: God's story of deliverance doesn't end with defeat or death, so we must live into our powerless posture to reveal the grace of God.
Big Idea: God has plans for each of His children and He meticulously prepares us to execute those plans. Understanding joseph: Joseph resolves a lot of the problematic threats presented in the narrative. He is used by God to resolve dangerous threats to the covenant line. Joseph is a problem solver, a threat eradicator, he is a type of savior. 1. God prepares us by testing our commitment (vs 2) 2. God prepares us through difficulties and mistreatment (vs 3-11)
Pastor Steve preached from 1 Corinthians 11:17–34, calling the church to see communion rightly—not as routine, but as worship centered on the glory of Christ. In Corinth, the Lord's Table had become divided and self-focused. Paul corrects them by bringing their attention back to what truly matters: the body and blood of Christ. Communion is not about preference or status. It is about remembrance. It is about repentance. It is about proclaiming the Lord's death until He comes. When we gather at the Table with humility and discernment, the church is refocused. Our hearts are examined. Our unity is restored. And Christ is exalted.Big Idea: God's order for communion refocuses the church on the glory of Christ.—Join us Sundays at 9:00 & 11:00

This past Sunday, Pastor Steve walked us through Luke 2 and reminded us that God is never reacting—He is ruling. Big Idea: God completely cleanses and restores his sin-stained children. I. God cleanses a filthy man of his sin.Zechariah 3:1-5Then he showed me the high priest Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Isn't this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” Now Joshua was dressed with filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. So the angel of the Lord spoke to those standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes!” Then he said to him, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with festive robes.” Then I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So a clean turban was placed on his head, and they clothed him in garments while the angel of the Lord was standing nearby.II. God restores an untrustworthy man to his service.Zechariah 3:6-7Then the angel of the Lord charged Joshua, “This is what the Lord of Armies says: If you walk in my ways and keep my mandates, you will both rule my house and take care of my courts; I will also grant you access among these who are standing here.III. God promises a broken world his salvation.Zechariah 3:8-10“Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your colleagues sitting before you; indeed, these men are a sign that I am about to bring my servant, the Branch. Notice the stone I have set before Joshua; on that one stone are seven eyes. I will engrave an inscription on it”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies—“and I will take away the iniquity of this land in a single day. On that day, each of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and fig tree.” This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.Next Steps: Believe: Today, I surrender my soul to King Jesus.Become: I will stop listening to the accuser and start listening to the Father this week. Be Sent: I will share how Jesus forgave me with someone this week. Discussion Questions: What challenges have you faced in this broken world this year? How do you react when someone points out your faults?Do you consider your sin less filthy than someone else's?Will God trust great responsibilities to someone who isn't faithful to keep his Word? We often pray small, safe prayers—but what if God is inviting us to pray bold, audacious ones? In Joshua 10, Joshua faces an impossible battle, yet he prays one of the boldest prayers in all of Scripture: “Sun, stand still.” It's a prayer so big that, if God didn't answer, Joshua would look foolish. But that's exactly the kind of faith that honors God—faith that believes He can do what only He can do.THE BIG IDEA: God takes full responsibility for the life wholly devoted to Him.
Big Idea: God establishes His kingdom through covenants, so live with proper covenant loyalty.1. The Abrahamic Covenant—Kingdom Land & Seed (Gen 15 & 17)2. The Israelite Covenant—Kingdom Administration (Exodus–Deuteronomy)
We want God to do it all. We want God to do it all so that we won't have to do nothing. But God will only move inharmony with how we obey. God doesn't speak until we start moving to obey. God doesn't show us our next step to take until we step out and obey. We want God to show up and move for us. We want Him to obey for us. But that would alleviate our part in this process, because God only hits a moving target.THE BIG IDEA: God won't move to save until you move to obey.
Faith or Wrath (Romans 4:13–25)Big Idea: God secures Abraham's promised inheritance by faith according to grace, not by law. The law exposes sin and brings wrath; faith rests in God's promise—confirmed by Christ's resurrection for our justification.Key Quote: “He was fully convinced that what God had promised He was also able to perform.” (Rom 4:21)We unpack Paul's argument that the promise to Abraham (and to all who share his faith) comes through the righteousness of faith, not through works of the law. The law can only reveal our sin and summon wrath; grace gives what law cannot—assurance. Abraham believed against all odds because the object of his faith was the God who “gives life to the dead.” Paul lands the plane with the gospel's heartbeat: Jesus was “delivered up for our offenses and raised for our justification.” Forgiveness and righteousness are both ours in Christ.Faith or Wrath (vv. 13–15): If inheritance were by law, faith would be void. The law exposes sin and brings wrath. What Is Sin? (v. 15b): Sin = lack of conformity to or transgression of God's law (omission & commission). Sin is personal—against the Lawgiver.According to Grace (vv. 16–18): Justification is by faith so that it rests on grace—this produces assurance and extends to “many nations.”Not a Blind Leap (vv. 19–20): Abraham faced the facts but trusted the Promise-Maker; faith is reasonable confidence in God's character.Fully Convinced (v. 21): Mature faith = settled confidence that God performs what He promises.Raised for Our Justification (vv. 24–25): Double imputation: our guilt to Christ; His righteousness to us. The resurrection is the Father's public acceptance of the payment—our justification is secure.
Big Idea: God's Word revives His people, and His watchful…

Big Idea: God sets the order of service for his church. It's up to us to keep it orderly.1 Corinthians 14:26-40What then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Everything is to be done for building up. If anyone speaks in a tongue, there are to be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no interpreter, that person is to keep silent in the church and speak to himself and God. Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate. But if something has been revealed to another person sitting there, the first prophet should be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may learn and everyone may be encouraged. And the prophets' spirits are subject to the prophets, since God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but are to submit themselves, as the law also says. If they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, since it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. Or did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only? If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that what I write to you is the Lord's command. If anyone ignores this, he will be ignored. So then, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything is to be done decently and in order.I. If prophecy is so important, why do so many people want to speak in tongues?II. If someone is speaking in tongues and no one is around to interpret, what should I do?III. What is the "purpose" of praying in tongues?IV. Why do some people accept 1-2 gifts but reject the others? Are they a package deal?V. Because you spoke a word of prophecy, does that give you the title “prophet”?Next Steps: Believe: I need the Holy Spirit to give me the gift of new life today.Become: I will learn or develop my spiritual gift(s) this week. Be Sent: I will use my spiritual gift to grow Jesus's Kingdom.Discussion Questions: Where or to whom do you look when you are confused about spiritual issues?Who do you turn to first? Why?How can you tell if someone speaking in tongues is genuine? How confident are you that your source for answers aligns completely with the Bible? When is the last time you heard a word of prophecy? What made you certain it was prophecy? What would you say to someone who is using their spiritual gift to draw attention or praise to themself?Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you push back darkness this week.
WATCH ON YOUTUBE Scripture: Joshua 1:1-9Big Idea: God accomplishes His mission through His presence and promises. 1. Choose courage over fear. 2. Stay rooted God's word. 3. Rely on God's presence. 4. Step out in faith. 5. Celebrate God's provision.
Pastor Christy Cass As we close the Made to Garden series, this message reminds us that fear doesn't have to drive us into hiding. From Genesis 3, we see the first humans cover themselves with fig leaves and hide when shame and fear entered the story. Yet God's response wasn't condemnation—it was an invitation: “Where are you?” Supporting Scriptures: Genesis 3:1–10, Proverbs 8:13, 2 Timothy 1:7, John 3:20, 1 Corinthians 10:13 Big Idea: God doesn't yell from the fence line—He walks into the garden. He comes close. The invitation is to step out of hiding, trade fear for trust, and walk with Him in the open. Key Themes & Takeaways: There are two fears in the garden: Fear that hides from God (shame, paralysis, people-pleasing). Fear of the Lord (holy awe that leads to trust and obedience). Alignment with God happens in head (truth), heart (desires), and hands (obedience). Obedience is our “yes.” Outcomes are His responsibility. Practical Steps to Live Fearless: Generosity & Hospitality → move from closed hands to open tables. Courageous Witness → everyday invitations, bold in love. Peacemaking → have hard conversations with truth and grace. Creativity & Resilience → choose fresh hope over cynicism. Community & Correction → walk together, not in isolation. Work & Integrity → live honest and excellent before God and others.
