Big Idea: God sets the order of service for his church. It's up to us to keep it orderly.1 Corinthians 14:26-40What then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Everything is to be done for building up. If anyone speaks in a tongue, there are to be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no interpreter, that person is to keep silent in the church and speak to himself and God. Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate. But if something has been revealed to another person sitting there, the first prophet should be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that everyone may learn and everyone may be encouraged. And the prophets' spirits are subject to the prophets, since God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but are to submit themselves, as the law also says. If they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, since it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. Or did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only? If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, he should recognize that what I write to you is the Lord's command. If anyone ignores this, he will be ignored. So then, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything is to be done decently and in order.I. If prophecy is so important, why do so many people want to speak in tongues?II. If someone is speaking in tongues and no one is around to interpret, what should I do?III. What is the "purpose" of praying in tongues?IV. Why do some people accept 1-2 gifts but reject the others? Are they a package deal?V. Because you spoke a word of prophecy, does that give you the title “prophet”?Next Steps: Believe: I need the Holy Spirit to give me the gift of new life today.Become: I will learn or develop my spiritual gift(s) this week. Be Sent: I will use my spiritual gift to grow Jesus's Kingdom.Discussion Questions: Where or to whom do you look when you are confused about spiritual issues?Who do you turn to first? Why?How can you tell if someone speaking in tongues is genuine? How confident are you that your source for answers aligns completely with the Bible? When is the last time you heard a word of prophecy? What made you certain it was prophecy? What would you say to someone who is using their spiritual gift to draw attention or praise to themself?Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you push back darkness this week.
WATCH ON YOUTUBE Scripture: Joshua 1:1-9Big Idea: God accomplishes His mission through His presence and promises. 1. Choose courage over fear. 2. Stay rooted God's word. 3. Rely on God's presence. 4. Step out in faith. 5. Celebrate God's provision.
Pastor Christy Cass As we close the Made to Garden series, this message reminds us that fear doesn't have to drive us into hiding. From Genesis 3, we see the first humans cover themselves with fig leaves and hide when shame and fear entered the story. Yet God's response wasn't condemnation—it was an invitation: “Where are you?” Supporting Scriptures: Genesis 3:1–10, Proverbs 8:13, 2 Timothy 1:7, John 3:20, 1 Corinthians 10:13 Big Idea: God doesn't yell from the fence line—He walks into the garden. He comes close. The invitation is to step out of hiding, trade fear for trust, and walk with Him in the open. Key Themes & Takeaways: There are two fears in the garden: Fear that hides from God (shame, paralysis, people-pleasing). Fear of the Lord (holy awe that leads to trust and obedience). Alignment with God happens in head (truth), heart (desires), and hands (obedience). Obedience is our “yes.” Outcomes are His responsibility. Practical Steps to Live Fearless: Generosity & Hospitality → move from closed hands to open tables. Courageous Witness → everyday invitations, bold in love. Peacemaking → have hard conversations with truth and grace. Creativity & Resilience → choose fresh hope over cynicism. Community & Correction → walk together, not in isolation. Work & Integrity → live honest and excellent before God and others. Big Idea: God keeps us through merciful relationships. Bible teaching by John Brown on the 31st August 2025.
In this message, we tackle a common statement that many believe today, including "Christians." This statement is: "The church just wants my money."Jesus takes that sentence and goes straight to the heart. Psalm 24 reminds us that everything already belongs to God. In Matthew 6, Jesus says our treasure always trails our heart. And in Philippians 4, Paul isn't after gifts—he's after gospel fruit in people. The Big Idea: God doesn't need our money; He wants our hearts. The gospel shows the One who was rich became poor for us—so our giving becomes worship, not pressure; partnership in mission, not transaction.

God is involved in the events of our lives–both the big and the small. Hard times don't remove God's promises, harsh treatment doesn't escape God's attention, and heavy tests don't overshadow God's concern.THE BIG IDEA: God is involved in the events of our lives– both big and small.
Have you ever got turned around and started going the wrong way? All of us have sometime in life. It takes someone to get us to stop and have a turnaround for us to quit going in a downward spiral.THE BIG IDEA: God's correction isn't rejection it's redirection.
We've all experienced situations where things weren't going well and we needed a turnaround. From one of the most infamous stories in the Bible, we'll discover the key to navigating a successful turnaround, regardless of what we're facing.THE BIG IDEA: God allows turnarounds for everyone going the wrong way.
Big Idea: God's grace grants life, gives time, and gathers generosity. God's grace grants life (1-18) God's grace gifts time (19-26) God's grace gathers generosity (27-30) Discussion questions 1. How has God personally shown His generosity to you—whether in creation, the Word, salvation, or the church—and how does that shape your worship and life. 2. Peter said, “Who was I that I could stand in God's way?” (Acts 11:17). Have there been times when your assumptions or traditions got in the way of sharing God's grace with others? 3. In what ways can you, like Barnabas and Saul, give the gift of time to help others grow in faith? Who has done that for you? 4. What needs—spiritual, physical, or emotional—do you see around you, and how can you take part in “seeing needs and meeting them” as the Antioch church did?
Big Idea: God uses surrender, not strength, to bring victory. Bible teaching by John Brown on the 3rd August 2025.
Sermon Overview: "Merciful Steadfast Love" on Psalm 32 Theme: True joy and freedom are found in God's merciful forgiveness and steadfast love. Big Idea: God's greatest blessing is full forgiveness through Christ. This blessing moves us to confess quickly, trust deeply, and rejoice fully in His steadfast love. ________________________________________ The sermon explores the profound blessing of forgiveness, drawing from Psalm 32 to illustrate the transformative power of acknowledging sin and receiving God's grace. It emphasizes that true forgiveness, freely given through Christ, cleanses the conscience and allows for genuine joy, contrasting it with the burden of a troubled spirit and self-deceit. The message encourages believers to embrace open confession, trust in God's steadfast love, and seek His guidance, recognizing that a life surrounded by His grace is the source of lasting joy and deliverance from worldly sorrows. ________________________________________ Key Gospel Emphasis Jesus fulfilled Psalm 32 by becoming sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21). He was forsaken so we might be forgiven, covered, and counted righteous—surrounded forever by God's steadfast love.

What if someone really knew the real you? Not the polished version you show the world—but your deepest flaws, struggles, mistakes, and shame. Would they still love you? Now take that question even deeper: If God knew the real me, would He still want me? Many of us live under the weight of guilt and the fear of being "found out." But what if the very things you think disqualify you are the places where God wants to meet you with grace?THE BIG IDEA: God knows absolutely everything about you—and still wants everything to do with you.

This Sunday, we walked through 1 Corinthians 3:5–9 and saw how Paul reset the perspective of a divided church. The issue wasn't who planted or who watered—it was that they were missing the point.God alone gives the growth. But He chooses to use us in the process. We don't grow people—but we are responsible to serve them.To plant the seed.To water with truth. To trust God with the results.Big Idea: God involves us in His process of developing spiritual maturity in others. So serve faithfully. June 1st, 2025 | The Love of God | 1 John 1:1-4We're kicking off our summer series in 1 John with Pastor Matt Darby as we dive deep into the heart of the message: the love of God. In this opening message, “The Revealing of God's Love,” we explore how God's love isn't just a concept to understand—but a Person to know.Through 1 John 1:1–4, we'll see how God's love is made manifest in Jesus Christ, offering eternal life, true fellowship, and complete joy. In a world full of confusion about love—from pop songs to cultural clichés—this message grounds us in the unshakable truth that God is love, and that love changes everything.Join us as we discover that the love of God is more than we imagined—more powerful, more personal, and more life-giving than anything else in the world.Big Idea: God's love is most clearly and profoundly revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. This is the most precious reality humanity could ever receive.Do you know JESUS? https://www.nbgilmer.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER? https://www.nbgilmer.org/praySupport through GIVING: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving
Thinking Like JesusThis Sunday, we continued in 1 Corinthians 2:14–16 and were reminded that the natural person can't understand the things of God—they're spiritually discerned. But through the Spirit, God gives us more than understanding—He gives us the ability to think like Jesus. His Spirit reshapes how we see the world, how we respond, and how we live.Big Idea: God's Spirit gives me the ability to think the right way about everything.Let's keep growing into the kind of people who don't just know truth—but live it.

Big Idea:God can grow saints in any soil.1 Corinthians 1:1-9I.Every plant starts from a seed.1 Corinthians 1:1Paul, called as an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will, and Sosthenes our brother:II.Every saint starts from a sinner. 1 Corinthians 1:2-3To the church of God at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called as saints, with all those in every place who call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord—both their Lord and ours. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.III.Every strong tree starts from a struggling sapling.1 Corinthians 1:4-9I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in him in every way, in all speech and all knowledge. In this way, the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you, so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.Next Steps: Believe: I need Jesus to transform me from a sinner to a saint. Become: I will allow the Holy Spirit to grow me toward Christ's likeness this week. Be Sent: I will put my faith on display this week.Discussion Questions: Describe the goal to which God wants to grow you. How did you grow this week? Do strong winds prevent trees from growing? Do you look, act, and think more like a saint this week than last?Who started your growth as a follower of Christ?Name someone who you believe needs to grow in their faith. Pray for the Holy Spirit to use you to encourage their faith this week.
