On the forty- first episode of All the Film Things, I talked with the Film Production Coordinator for the City of Jacksonville, director/ editor Adam Madrid! Adam Madrid, who some of us regard as “the king of Jacksonville”, is an integral figure in Jacksonville who started out working as a freelancer making films, music videos, and even commercials for the Jacksonville Jaguars before becoming the Film Production Coordinator for the City of Jacksonville last year. He has been awarded the Art Innovator Award by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville in 2023 and is amongst this year's Leadership Jacksonville class. Alongside his wife Monique, Adam is the City Producer for the 48 hour film project in Jacksonville and the co- founder of the LOL Jacksonville Film Festival. Adam is also the co- founder of the production company Argyle Forest Films and directs, co- produces, and co- edits every versatile film made under the company including “A Novel Idea” and “No Laughing Matter”, which won the Jacksonville 48 hour film project in 2014 leading the short to be screened at Filmapalooza in Hollywood the next year.Adam's directorial feature debut, Let Me Be Corey, is a comedy film that's been six years in the making! The film will be out very soon and I'll keep you all updated on its release on the ATFT Instagram! While you're waiting for Let Me Be Corey to premiere and later hit streaming, check out some of Adam's past work on the Argyle Forest Films Youtube channel by clicking this link!: https://www.youtube.com/@ArgyleForestFilms This is Adam's first appearance on ATFT! Adam and I met about a year ago at Jax Film Bar. It was very casual as, if I remember correctly, we were just eating dinner and someone between us had got up so we briefly talked and now, as I've gotten to know him a little more, I am seriously in awe of his journey and his passion for Jacksonville. He is the community leader this city needs and his dedication along with his motivated mindset is going to elevate Jacksonville to the film city it is. Every time I have the pleasure of chatting with him I feel inspired and motivated, especially since he's been a champion of this podcast which I cannot be more grateful for his support. This episode was recorded on April 24, 2025. In this episode, Adam talks about how his motivation and passion for filmmaking got him to where he is today, as a leading figure in the Jacksonville film industry. Filmmakers, specifically those in the 904 area, will especially benefit from Adam's interview and will be inspired to keep making films and spread the word about the city. Adam also explains the tax incentives for filming in Jacksonville, the current state of the arts in Jacksonville universities, and how he's spread the word about Jacksonville all around the world. We also discuss beloved comedy actors in stellar dramatic roles, our shared appreciation for Claire Danes, and teasing what's to come for the Jacksonville's film scene, and much more! All this and much more on the latest episode of All the Film Things! Background music created and used with permission by the Copyright Free Music - Background Music for Videos channel on YouTube.Sound Effect by freesound_community from Pixabay

Episode #972 Ever made a joke that didn't land—but didn't realize until later how deep it cut? We originally released this episode a while back, but it hit home for so many men that we knew it was worth revisiting. If you've ever found yourself thinking, “I'm just joking—what's the big deal?” this might be the perspective shift you didn't know you needed. In this conversation, we get real about the difference between light-hearted teasing and the kind of humor that slowly chips away at trust. We share how even a small joke can come across as criticism, especially when the emotional “bank account” in your relationship is running low. You'll hear why your wife might not find your teasing funny, how to read the energy behind your jokes, and what to do when your humor starts creating distance instead of connection. If laughter really is the best medicine, we need to make sure we're not using it as a weapon.

This week's question gave us lots to talk about but not too much to chuckle about. We had a great conversation about jokes and comedy and when certain jokes may or may not be acceptable! Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S4E9: My Favorite Martian, which aired on November 19, 1988. In this episode Brandon sees Vicki's hologram of an alien spaceship. Just Brandon being a massive dum dum per usual. The family decides to have fun with him by using Vicki to pretend she's an alien, after Brandon alerts (what I refer to thanks to the show ALF) as the ATF (Alien Task Force) to investigate this strange phenomenon. Vicki the alien tells Brandon that if he says he never saw any spaceship than her kind will make him King of their planet, he of course buys this charade and pretends he didn't see anything. Weird episode, but a bit better than the other 3. S4E10: Mommie Dearest, which aired on November 26,1988. In this episode, Joan's father comes for a visit, and Ida Mae decides he's going to be her next husband, since he's a doctor and she's a money hungry be-otch. I could not stand this episode or Ida Mae, this character does not need to exist on this show at ALL! S4E11: No Laughing Matter, which aired on December 4, 1988. In this episode Vicki leaks nitrous oxide ( we don't see this until the last 10 minutes of the episode, Jamie teaches for a week ( we don't get to see any of him teaching just the after effects of the kids failing the test (what a cop-out, I know we weren't going to get Cory/'Mr. Feeny level Teacher of the Week episode), but honestly it would have been nice to actually see him teach. S4E12: Tag, You're It, which aired on December 11, 1988. Ok, so this episode must have been filmed earlier because Jamie's already been in school for a while and now it's talking about the first day of 8th grade and also Harriet is now going to his school because she skipped a grade and is now in 6th grade (I call bullsh*t on this). Jamie's trying to get this valley girl speaking airhead of a girl to ask him to the dance ( I swear most of the girl's he's been into this season all have that (like whatever valley girl tone to their dialogue) it's grating on my nerves. It's basically a Sadie Hawkins dance where the girls ask the boys or (according to Full House a Backwards Dance)> Harriet makes it her mission to get Jamie to take her she just has to tag him (you know, like the game). Vicki is made the Hall Monitor giving out demerits to the students thanks to the new Vice Principal played by Marcia Wallace known for her role of Ms. Krabappel on The Simpsons. As far as these episodes go, they were all that good, not too surprising, since it's the last Season of the show. Have a good April and I'll see you towards the end of the month for the next 4 episodes in Season 4.

Influential ResourcesIzaac credits several books for shaping his artistic mindset and career. Early on, works like Think and Grow Rich and How to Win Friends and Influence People taught him the power of manifestation and networking. Books such as 48 Laws of Power and Mastery reinforced the importance of focus and continual skill development. Other impactful reads include The Power of Habit, The Obstacle Is the Way, Ego Is the Enemy, Origins of Creativity, and Algorithms to Live By. Together, these resources helped him navigate the challenges of being an independent creative, a path that requires both mental resilience and adaptability.Mission and philosophy At the heart of Izaac's work lies a mission to highlight social issues and spark dialogue. Through the ambiguity of his art,he invites viewers to extract personalized meanings, often resulting in interpretations that reflect opposing perspectives.Far from being a flaw, Izaac sees this duality as a reflection of human complexity and the contradictions that define society. For Izaac, art is a tool to illuminate these nuances and hypocrisies, providing a medium capable of capturing the layered realities of the modern world.Jan21thIzaac Baron Zevalking Artist

Episode #813 Ever wonder if your playful jabs at your partner are truly all in good fun, or if they might be causing more harm than good? In this episode, Doug Holt explores a critical aspect of relationships that many overlook—the impact of our jokes and teasing on our spouses. Whether it's a light-hearted comment about the dishes or a sarcastic remark in a social setting, the words we choose and the energy behind them can profoundly affect the emotional climate of our relationships. Doug shares personal anecdotes and insights from years of coaching, revealing how what's meant as bonding humor can sometimes alienate the ones we love most. He delves into the nuances of "reading the room," understanding the energy behind our words, and recognizing how these interactions can influence our spouse's feelings of safety and love. Listeners will come away with strategies to ensure their humor fosters connection rather than discord, emphasizing the importance of emotional awareness and the power of well-timed levity in building a loving and supportive marriage. __________ Hungry for more?
