    Here we are, the second episode of the seventh season! In this episode, host Kent Reeder talks with our other former host, Tim Babler. The episode features Alyssa Tyler's song "We're All in the Same Boat," which was written and performed during a Hearts and Hands/Illumine Church songwriting weekend back in 2018. The episode is built around this quote from the brilliant book The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander: "The person who rigorously maintains the clarity to stand confidently in the abundant universe of possibility creates an environment around him generative of certain kinds of conversations. We come to trust that these places are dedicated to the notion that no one will be made wrong, people will not be talked about behind their backs, and there will be no division between "us" and "them." These environments produce astonishing results that can take people in wholly unexpected directions, perhaps because all their gates are open - inviting us to play in the meadows of the cooperative universe."Support the show

The episode features Caleb Schmiege's recording of his and Melanie Bourman's arrangement of the hymn Now Rest Beneath Night's Shadow by Paul Gerhardt, and is built around this quote from Andrew Peterson's book, Adorning the Dark: Those of us who write, who sing, who paint, must remember that to a child a song may glow like a nightlight in a scary bedroom. It may be the only thing holding back the monsters. That story may be the only beautiful, true thing that makes it through all the ugliness of a little girl's world to rest in her secret heart. May we take that seriously. It is our job, it is our ministry, it is the sword we swing in the Kingdom, to remind children that the good guys win, that the stories are true, and that a fool's hope may be the best kind.Support the show
