What are your motives for following Jesus? Perhaps you've never considered this, or maybe you have. Either way, our true reasons for following Jesus will eventually reveal themselves. Not everyone follows Him for the right reasons—some may follow only for personal gain, rather than seeking a genuine relationship with Christ. As we walk with Him, it's important to reflect on our motives and ensure they align with His purpose. Listen in as we walk through John 6:1-15, 25-35.

How does Jesus demonstrate His divine authority? In the Gospels, we see Jesus healing the sick, drawing people to repentance, and working on the Sabbath. These counter-cultural acts revealed His ultimate authority as the Son of God. Jesus is the sovereign Lord who commands us to live in the fullness of His grace, repent of our sins, and join in His ongoing work of renewal in the world. Listen in as we walk through John 5:1-18.

Our culture is defined by conditional allegiances. IF you do what I expect, THEN I will do what you expect. IF you love me the right way, THEN will I love you the right way. Conditional relationships with our spouses, with our families, with our friends, with our kids, with our bosses, with our barbers, with our baristas, with everybody. They all have requirements. Since conditional and transactional relationships dominate the way we relate to one another, do you think it's possible we put conditions on Christ? Lets jump into part 3 of our series "Signs of the King" to explore how the bible instructs us to interface with these cultural tensions. 

Do you know what the Book of Signs is? You may not have heard of it before but it's another name for the Book of John. The Gospel of John helps us understand Jesus, the crowds, the disciples, and ourselves. We are beginning a new sermon series titled, Signs of the King, where we will dive into the first eleven books of John while looking at the signs and wonders Jesus performed. As we walk through each of these chapters, we will consider openly who Jesus is and what that means for us. So, what will you find if you investigate Jesus?   When we're in Christ, we discover that He answers honest skepticism, honors sincere inquiry, and calls for sustained attention. We are offered an invitation to investigate Jesus, and that invitation can lead to spiritual illumination. Today, as we turn our attention to the last section of Jesus' prayer in John 17, we see another group of people who are on his mind and heart, all that would believe in Him. As Jesus stood on the precipice of the pinnacle of His work of salvation, Jesus looked forward to all those in the years, decades, and even centuries ahead who would trust in his life-saving work and surrender to His Lordship, and he prayed for them. So, if someone's prayer life reveals their concerns and desires, what does Jesus' final prayer section reveal about His desire for His followers? Join us today as we dive into this important life defining question. 

We have been studying John 17 throughout our series, Why Pray? In this passage, we read a prayer that Jesus prayed just hours before His crucifixion. At the Last Supper, we see Him praying to His Father over His disciples and His purpose. Within Christ's prayer, we can find the purpose that He longs for us, His children, to have. Because we're set apart as followers of Christ, our purpose is found in Jesus and built on Him alone. It's all about Jesus. Today, as we continue in our series, Why Pray? We will continue to see how through prayer we can come to know Christ deeper. Can we be confident when we pray for God's protection? Yes, we can! But to solidify this truth we will see examples from scripture. We can be confident in God's protection because God keeps us in salvation, in His joy, and from the evil one. Why should we pray? To seek God's protection. We don't have to live in fear because we have a Father who is more than able to protect us. This new year we are beginning a new series, Why Pray, looking at the High Priestly prayer Jesus prayed to examine why and how we should pray. So, why should we pray? To glorify God. He loves to hear from His children and through our time spent in prayer, we get to know who He is and grow in intimacy with our Father. When we acknowledge God as Father, Jesus as Son, and the glory of Christ we are glorifying God through prayer. Last week we kicked off our Advent series, Radiant, diving into the hope that Christ holds and the gift that is found in Jesus' birth. The light that the coming of Jesus brings us is eternal, He offers us hope and joy. In Him, we can experience forever joy—that never dissipates, even in the difficult parts of life. Jesus fills us with joy by growing our family, bringing us to a table of celebration, and giving us forever joy. Life throws us a lot of different joys, many bring us happiness, but when the joy of receiving goes away what are we left with? What hope we have in Christ—the light of joy, we get everlasting joy that isn't dependent on circumstance or temporary pleasures. Today we continue in our message series in Galatians, Good News, diving into what it means to be free in Christ. Before we come to know Christ, we long to gratify our desires, our flesh. We live with internal passions to be fulfilled; every time we fulfill them, they grow. Once we have come to know Jesus and accepted Him as our savior, we learn that those in Christ have crucified their flesh along with their passions and desires. Yet, we still may experience these desires from our old life. So, as we learn to walk with the Spirit, Jesus points out a few steps we should take as we walk alongside Him. We must recognize that we have an inner struggle that goes towards fulfilling our flesh, we should acknowledge the fruit that is growing in our life and put our flesh to death in Christ Jesus. When we walk with the Spirit and crucify our flesh, we will see godly attributes growing in our lives like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We are continuing in our Galatians series, Good News, studying the freedom from the law and security found in the Gospel. When we find ourselves going back to our old ways, habits, or sins, it's as if we are re-enslaving ourselves to the law and forfeiting our liberty in Jesus. Paul shows us that we lose the benefits of Christ, the scandal of the cross, and the motivation to love when we revert to the law and believe the lie that we can do it all on our own efforts. In some ways freedom is scary, we can find comfort in thinking that our faith is based on works, but Jesus is desiring us to know in deep ways that our faith is based solely by believing in the Gospel and accepting Christ as our Savior. Jesus saved us by grace alone, despite our flaws and shortcomings, He loves us deeply. We would be foolish to go back to the law and abandon a gracious Gospel and loving Father. Today, we are continuing in our Good News series, revealing the goodness of the Gospel. In Christ we get to experience the truest form of freedom, eternal joy in Him. We are promised of this truth, within His word are several points and promises from Christ that reveal His ultimate desire—to save and free us from the law and burden of sin. In the depths of your souls, maybe you felt a stirring, or deep longing for something more, to be freed. When we enter in relationship with Jesus and put our trust in His Gospel, we get to step into the freedom He promises. Jesus states that we are children of the promise and free in Christ. The law before Christ brought slavery, but the Gospel brings freedom, and we should stand firm in that freedom. We can't muster this freedom on our own, it's a gift given through Christ alone. Today, we are continuing our series, Good News, looking at the truth and hope of the Gospel. We'll ask the question; how do we experience the blessings of God? In Galatians, we see how Paul desires the church of Galatia to not believe in a false gospel, he urges them to believe in the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. God's blessing comes by faith alone in Christ alone. In obedience to Christ, we must surrender our efforts and trust in Jesus, He has won, and we can have hope in Him. Paul asked direct questions to the church in this passage that allowed them to think through how they were experiencing the blessings of God in their lives. Last week we kicked off our fall sermon series, Good News, looking at the goodness within the Gospel and how it impacts us. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is revelation that transforms, this change is from the inside out. When we receive salvation in Christ, we are brought to repentance because the Gospel reveals our sin and urges us to turn away from it. Jesus takes us on a journey to remove sin and shame and instill faith, hope, and courage in Him. The Gospel reveals Christ and our destiny. Placing our faith and hope in Christ gives us the promise of spending eternity with Him. This fall we are beginning a new series titled, Good News, where we will turn to the book of Galatians to uncover the truth and goodness of the Gospel. This Sunday, we will discover how the gospel is unique. The gospel immerses itself into every aspect of our lives. Our God is personal, He desires to work and speak to us in specific and intentional ways. The Gospel provides hope to remind us that there is redemption for the evil of this world. The source of the Gospel, the heart of the Gospel, and the exclusivity of the Gospel are unique. Our Metamorphosis series has been focused on transforming our minds to align with Christ, this week we will discuss anger and learn how we can reframe our mindset on how we handle anger. James 1:19 states we should be “quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” As we choose to deal with our anger lovingly, we should seek wisdom from scripture because Godly wisdom produces peace among people. When seeking wisdom from God's word we will see that Godly wisdom brings peace and Godly wisdom takes action, while worldly wisdom produces chaos. In our pursuit to deal with our anger in ways that glorify God, let us seek out scripture and wisdom from above. This week in our Metamorphosis series, we looked at adversity and found out how we can look at adversity as opportunity rather than a hindrance. In Philippians, Paul writes about his imprisonment due to sharing the Gospel, Paul is an example of how adversity can cause us to grow in Christ. Paul even exclaims, “for me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” We have an opportunity to bring the Gospel everywhere, we should not be ashamed of it, for Christ dwells in us if we have placed our trust in Him alone. Embracing adversity requires us to know that endurance inspires faith, we should rejoice in Gospel proclamation and recognize that adversity is a win-win. As we continue in our  Metamorphosis series, this week we will address the issue of apathy. Our succumbing to apathy can go unnoticed, not realizing we have fallen into this frame of mind. So how do we get out of that mindset? We must be transformed by the word of God. An urgency to spread the gospel defeats apathy. We are to follow the ways of scripture and devote ourselves to love, show hospitality, and serve with diligence. Join us in the latest sermon of the series and be challenged to defeat the apathetic tendencies we fall into, to gain an urgency to share the gospel with a waiting world.

In our message series, Metamorphosis, we are talking about transforming our minds with the word of God. Today, we will hear how our ambitions are welcomed in Christ, but we must submit them to God in an act of obedience to Him. Jesus had ambition, a ton of it. His ambitions were submitted to God, and He led them out with fervor—being the atonement for all. We have the chance to align our dreams and ambitions, just as Jesus did with God. When we submit them to God, He will exceed our expectations and align our desire with the desires of His own. We must put off worldly ambition and put on godly ambition. As we continue in our message series, Metamorphosis, we will talk about the hold that anxiety has made are many today. Anxiety can feel inescapable and suffocating. We may lose hope of ever feeling free from its chains, but we will see that there is hope. What was once anxiety can be turned into peace, by the grace and power of God. Through praying with gratitude, meditating on what is good, and living out God's word, we can experience our anxieties turning into peace. We are in our second week of our series, Reach Where There Is No Church, preaching on the topic and importance of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Christians are called to bring the Gospel to the world, we can read our direct calling in Scripture. We are a part of the body of Christ, we have brothers and sisters who are all on the same mission with us, thankfully we don't have to do it alone. Our mission is to reach, to reach until all have heard. We can do this together as a body of Christ by discipling one another in mission. We are beginning a two-week sermon series labeled, Reach: Where There is No Church, discussing the necessity to bring the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. As we wrap up our What God Says About series, it is necessary that we look at what God says about femininity, especially on a day that celebrates the wonderful mothers in our lives. God's word is clear that it values women, and their role in the church, in families, and in the world. Proverbs 31 is one of the most highly quoted scriptures that points to the value and need for women. We see three important points from this chapter on how to honor the women in our lives. We should acknowledge her value, affirm her work, and applaud her character. Godly women are an essential part of the world, the church, and the home. We have been working through our What God Says About series. This week we tackle a topic that is not often talked about in the church—sex. Scripture has much to say about it though, so it seems important we discuss what God has to say. God makes it abundantly clear that sex was created to be shared within the covenant of marriage, as two become one. The stain of sin in this world has sadly tainted the view of sex, painting it in a way that one should explore their sexuality, rather than saving it for the scaredness of marriage. The Bible makes it clear that sex is a good gift from God, to be shared only in marriage. As we aim to honor God in our sex lives we see three truths within scripture—to delight in your spouse, honor wise boundaries, and understand the danger of adultery. We are going through our series, What God Says About. This week we look at What God Says About Work. What we do matters to God. We are the representation of Christ, how we work reflects Him. Colossians 3:23 says we should “work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.” God commands us to work hard and to serve Him in all we do. In Proverbs, we find some examples of things that hinder us from fulfilling our call to work. There are three examples of obstacles we may face when it comes to work: laziness, distractedness, and selfishness. Proverbs 6 shows us that we have a calling to fulfill, that call is to work. We see in Genesis God giving Adam and Eve the call to tend to the garden and care for the animals. That was a privilege they held, given from God. Last Sunday, we started a new series, What God Says About, taking insights from the book of Proverbs, and applying God's wisdom to some everyday situations we may face. When it comes to the way we speak to others, what we say matters. Our words hold much power. We have the choice to speak words of life or words of death over those we interact with each day. From Proverbs, we pick up a few pieces of advice when it comes to this topic. We should aim to speak less and listen more, to speak words of grace and encouragement, and to speak words of truth and challenge. In hopes of shedding some light on this very dense, wildly expensive, and unnecessarily controversial pellet material, I sat down with Adam Moser, the director of product engineering for shotshells at Federal Premium. Federal, after all, was the first major ammo company to offer TSS loads to the mass market. I also caught up with my fanatical turkey hunting buddy Josh Dahlke, the VP of content for HuntStand. This Sunday we are diving into a new series, What God Says About, looking at the book of Proverbs to glean wisdom from about how to lean on God in the situations we face each day. Proverbs 3 tells us, the one who finds wisdom and understanding is blessed. Wisdom guides us in the decisions we make every day. As we seek Christ to be emulated in our lives, we should look to honor Him through our choices, who better to ask for wisdom from than Christ. For God's wisdom is supremely precious. It is by wisdom that we live a good life, that God created the world, and that we are protected. Join us this Sunday in the first sermon of the series, What God says About Wisdom.

This Easter Sunday we are ending our 'Believe' series, by diving into a commonly asked question, why should I believe in Jesus? There are many differing opinions that circulate in our culture, doubting the existence of Jesus. It can be hard to remain faithful to a God we can't physically see, especially when our doubts drown out what we know to be true. Good news, Jesus isn't shocked by our doubts! He invites us to bring our doubts to Him; He knows them and He will reveal the truth to us—we just have to let Him in. Jesus knows our doubts, answers our fears, and blesses our faith. The resurrected King invites us to believe in Him! Join us this resurrection Sunday as we celebrate the risen King. He is alive and has stepped out of the grave; our belief in Him is alive! 

This week we are journeying on in our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, looking to Psalm 51 as a guide to help us in our journey of finding renewal in Christ. In times when we have messed up or let someone down, it is easy for us to be full of shame and think that hiding is better. But God invites us into something different. He tells us that we can experience life transforming restoration and renewal, when we go to Him in humbleness, He is faithful to help us out of our pit of sin. When we are seeking renewal, we can first ask for God's restoration and respond to His grace with genuine worship. God's restoration in us, should cause us to react in worship. Giving praise to God for what He has done in us and for us; giving testimony to others through what Christ has done in us. Our response should be genuine praise back to Him for what He has done for us. God's restoration leads us into worship. When we believe in Him and turn toward Him, confessing before Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to show us mercy. He can mend what we have broken, and He can heal our hearts from what we have let in. We do not have to suffer in silence, no matter how easy it may seem to suppress it and clean it up on our own. What happens when one directly disobeys God? Or when someone goes as far as to blaspheme Him? That is dangerous territory to trod on. That's why scripture warns us of how serious it is to oppose Him. To see it in others is simple, but to admit it in our lives is never easy. Whenever we challenge, insult, or forget God's character and His goodness in our lives, we act in blasphemy toward Him. It is a serious thing, thankfully we have a God of forgiveness and mercy, and we can be forgiven by faith through Jesus Christ. We learn lessons from history and actively try not to repeat their past mistakes—it is the same for us as Christians. Today, we are moving forward in our series on Daniel, looking at the journey of Daniel's life and his courage to stay loyal to God whilst living in a culture that rejected God. Pride so simply entangles us in its grasp. It is easy to get caught in the success of what we complete or achieve and give ourselves all the credit, puffing ourselves up with more pride. God warns us of the evil that can infect our hearts when we indulge in pride. But he does not leave us to figure it out on our own, He provides careful correction for our sinful ways, sharing with us His grace. God warns us of our pride, He will judge us for our sin, and then He restores us by his grace. He is faithful to redeem us.
