The Weingarts discuss how their shared love for movies—from It's a Wonderful Life to Mel Brooks and B-movies like Tremors—inspired them to pursue filmmaking. Zuzu shares her unusual start in Japanese refrigerator commercials, and Kyle recounts how Zuzu motivated him to leave a gas station job to go to film school.They detail the challenges and dynamics of working together as a married couple and parents on projects like their first $5,000 feature film, The Waiting Game, which battled unexpected four feet of Montana snow. Zuzu also discusses the heartbreak and silver lining of having her scene with Nicolas Cage cut from the film Butcher's Crossing (which earned her a SAG card).Finally, they dive into their new project, Cuisine de l'Apocalypse. Kyle reveals the film was inspired by his love for cooking shows and Gilligan's Island, aiming to be a fun, unpretentious movie. From the Slammie Awards to La Fiesta de Punk Rock: Jim Hayward's Untold Story //////////// In this episode, we are joined by Jim Hayward, the founder of Slammie Productions and a longtime journalist whose career at the Palm Beach Post spanned over 40 years. Jim shares his incredible journey through South Florida's underground music scene and his parallel life in journalism.He reflects on his early exposure to music through his concert-promoter father, the rise of South Florida's punk, metal, and hardcore scenes in the 1980s and 1990s, founding the South Florida Slammie Awards where he promoted over 700 bands, and managing the band Raped Ape. Jim shares stories about shows with Marilyn Manson, Nonpoint, Against All Authority, New Found Glory, and others, performing at iconic venues like The Button South, The Plus Five, Respectable Street, and The Edge, which later became The Chili Pepper and eventually Revolution, as well as The Factory and many more. He also talks about his passion for the tiki scene, and more.

Games journalist and PC Gamer editor Jody Macgregor joins Liz and Ben to take control of an oddly Pythonesque Rincewind and discuss the 1995 graphic adventure game Discworld from Teeny Weeny Games and Perfect 10 Productions. A nefarious secret society has summoned a dragon in Ankh-Morpork! It's a suspiciously familiar plot, and of course the only one who can save the city is...Rincewind? This wizard might not know any spells, but he's decidedly snarky and cunning - and accompanied by an inventory window on legs. Together, they'll use petty theft, time travel and logic that would put Rube Goldberg to shame to rid the city of this scaly threat forever...twice! Terry Pratchett was famously an early adopter of computers, and a devoted video game player, so its no surprise that there were other Discworld videogames before...er...Discworld. But this 1995 point-and-click graphic adventure game is by far the most well known and beloved of the lot - despite also being infamous for its difficulty, in a genre known for obscure puzzles with illogical solutions! The player controls a version of Rincewind voiced by Eric Idle, who must travel back and forth all over Ankh-Morpork (and to the edge of the Disc) to collect a variety of random objects to save the city. The plot is loosely based on Guards! Guards!, with some flavour from Moving Pictures and a cast drawn from the early wizards novels. It was followed by two more games from the same team: Discworld II: Missing, Presumed...?!, and Discworld Noir, each with quite different visual styles, and the latter with a brand new protagonist. Sadly, all three are “abandonware” - not only unavailable, but languishing in copyright limbo, with no-one sure enough who currently has the rights to get them published again. The government is no longer soley focued on attracting Blockbuster films like the Lord of the Rings and Avatar to these shores, it's now hoping to give the industry a boost by offering incentives to smaller productions, too. Finance Minister Nicola Willis announced today it's expanding eligibility for the International Screen Production Rebate scheme to allow smaller budget productions and digital effects only projects to benefit from the rebate. One actor says the changes couldn't comes soon enough. Kim Baker Wilson reports.

Productions during their rehearsals and spoke to three of the actors from their upcoming musical "Spring Awakening."  We spoke to Jamie Orton who plays Wendla, Jaden Nguyen, Melchior, and Peyton Casey, who plays Moritz. This play was originally written back in 1891 in Germany by Frank Wedekind.  It has been a controversial drama about the consequences of sexual and religious repression on teenagers during that time - yet it is still relevant today.  It has been adapted throughout the years to make it more contemporary, most recently adding rock music to it (Book and Lyrics by Steven Sater and rock music by Duncan Sheik).
