Route 66 from Barstow, California to Kingman, Arizona offers a lot of interesting history, sights, people and places that are well worth visiting and we share our experience with them in this week's StressLess Camping RV podcast. We cover things like the Bagdad Cafe, Mrs. Orcutt's Driveway, Amboy Crater, Roy's Amboy Motel (we stayed there!), Goffs and Kingman, Arizona. We even finally got our first brewery in of the trip - amazing! We also had a tacky soda challenge and, believe it or not, teriyaki beef soda wasn't the worst. Twenty years ago, buying a house in Seattle felt like a stretch. Today, it feels like you need to win the lottery. Homeownership is slipping out of reach for a lot of people, especially those with modest incomes. But there’s a movement underway in Washington State -- one that could bring housing costs back within reach. State legislators want to make it legal to live in an RV in someone’s backyard or driveway year-round. On today's episode: could letting people live in tiny houses on wheels on someone's property actually reduce our state’s housing shortage? And could it be a solution for you? Welcome to our new segment, Sydney @ 6. Oscar Piastri sent Sydney Olympian Phoebe (from Castlecrag) the sweetest good luck message ahead of her first Winter Olympics competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom, and it brought her to tears. A developer just paid $1.25 million at auction for a 4-metre wide, 110sqm driveway on Church Street in Newtown—yes, just the driveway—because Sydney's property market is completely cooked. Chappell Roan annoyed Sydney fans at Laneway Festival by refusing to do a shoey, which is honestly un-Australian. And Bad Bunny announced his Sydney tour dates at ENGIE Stadium for February 28 and March 1 right after his Super Bowl halftime show performance. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this English lesson, I'll help you learn words and phrases English speakers use when talking about dealing with snow. You'll hear how these phrases are used in real situations after a night of heavy snow and being snowed in.By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to talk naturally and confidently about snow removal and winter work after a storm in your next English conversation.I hope you enjoy this English lesson about snow removal!
It's cold out and we're in - the gearhead goons have got gripes, and you're in the front row: the risk of snow on your roof (Don't be a Carl), the risk of snow on your walks (because shovel already), the risk of salt on your driveway (Bye bye, plants and pavement), the risk of freezing in your garage (H20 in everything), and a little bit of detail on those electric snowblowers. There's also a look at the Major Screwup (Sir!) by Costcos in Colorado, which just put diesel fuel in their gas tanks, Jeep following Ford's footsteps and ending production of the electric Wrangler, and Redhead Frankenstein's advice to remembering to laugh (and not bring a cougar to a party). Also, a reminder to take care of the folks who take care of you, because you never know when they'll not be there: an Excellent Weirdo R.I.P. for Dale the Parts Guy from Larry Miller (ne Corwin) Toyota. More: Awesome Ann and her snow shovel (because neighbor!), Jeff Bagby and his kegs, plus Dick Dale, The Professors, Man or Astro-Man and Rob Zombie's Halloween Hootenanny.

Ever spent four hours in a waiting room just for a two-minute prescription? Or worse, woken up with a painful UTI on a Sunday only to find every GP clinic in town closed? The "Great Divide" between doctors and pharmacists is finally crumbling. In this essential update, Mario Baroni (President of the Pharmacy Guild NSW) breaks down the game-changing shift in Australian healthcare for 2026. Pharmacists are moving beyond the counter and into the consulting room, gaining the power to prescribe for up to 23 common conditions—from ear infections and skin issues to the contraceptive pill and hypertension. Have you ever completed a job and said to yourself, "man, that looks so good!" only to get an emergency call in the middle of winter that something terrible happened with your project? That was my week this week. A customer called me and told me that her driveway was so sloppy and muddy that a UPS delivery truck got stuck. I was so proud of this driveway project because it turned out so good and beautiful, but apperantly there was something lurking underneath that I didn't know about. **Backed by EARTHAPRO** Visit www.earthapro.com Use CODE mowinginthedark25 at checkout to get 25% off your first year! 2B Bolder Podcast : Career Insights for the Next Generation of Women in Business & Tech
Confidence radiates from doing something you're passionate about. Doing it for a living and building talent and vision over time is magic. I had the best time sitting down with award-winning designer and Bargain Mansions TV host Tamara Day to talk about her life before stepping onto the national platform of the Magnolia Network and HGTV. The successes are only part of her story; the heart of her commitment, grassroots community, and her choice of integrity over shortcuts really make her unique.Tamara shares the unlikely chain of moments that led to television, plus the practical habits that kept her grounded once the cameras arrived. We get real about the early fear of filming, the shift from “we” to “I” without losing team spirit, and the tough but necessary rebrand from Growing Days to “Tamara Day” for SEO and discoverability. If you're building a business around your name or wondering when to pivot a beloved label, this is a masterclass in listening to the data and keeping meaning in the details. We also dig into her love for product design as a second act: creating shallow, wide fixtures for low ceilings, weaving scallops and soft curves across categories, and maintaining a cohesive color story across multiple manufacturers. Tamara explains how she balances creative intuition with business strategy, when to pause a collaboration that doesn't feel right, and why long-term brand trust beats short-term hype. You'll leave with usable design ideas: set up a simple drop zone, add a front-door catchall, and try color drenching, one saturated hue across walls, trim, and even ceilings, for big impact on a budget. Tamara's approach proves that patience compounds, partnerships multiply reach, and the best definition of success includes the freedom to step away for a month with your family. Hello to you, Marilyn, listening in Hancock, New Hampshire!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington, this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey—this final day of the old year—and your host, Diane Wyzga. Shoveling Snow With Buddha by Billy Collins"In the usual iconography of the temple or the local Wokyou would never see him doing such a thing, tossing the dry snow over the mountainof his bare, round shoulder, his hair tied in a knot,a model of concentration. Sitting is more his speed, if that is the wordfor what he does, or does not do. Even the season is wrong for him.In all his manifestations, is it not warm and slightly humid? Is this not implied by his serene expression, that smile so wide it wraps itself around the waist of the universe? But here we are, working our way down the driveway, one shovelful at a time.We toss the light powder into the clear air.We feel the cold mist on our faces. And with every heave we disappearand become lost to each otherin these sudden clouds of our own making, these fountain-bursts of snow. This is so much better than a sermon in church,I say out loud, but Buddha keeps on shoveling. This is the true religion, the religion of snow, and sunlight and winter geese barking in the sky,I say, but he is too busy to hear me. He has thrown himself into shoveling snowas if it were the purpose of existence,as if the sign of a perfect life were a clear drivewayone you could back the car down easilyand drive off into the vanities of the worldwith a broken heater fan and a song on the radio. All morning long we work side by side,me with my commentaryand he inside the generous pocket of his silence, until the hour is nearly noonand the snow is piled high all around us;then, I hear him speak. After this, he asks, can we go inside and play cards? Certainly, I reply, and I will heat some milkand bring cups of hot chocolate to the tablewhile you shuffle the deck, and our boots stand dripping by the door. Aaah, says the Buddha, lifting his eyesand leaning for a moment on his shovelbefore he drives the thin blade againdeep into the glittering white snow."My New Year wish for you: As the old year folds onto itself and the new year dawns I wish for you that your everyday activities, even the very simple tasks, bring humor, contemplation, and a sense of magic in the ordinary. May you find your way on the path following a compass heading of True North. May the love you seek wend its way to you. As the year comes to a close, I'm recording one last, completely unscripted podcast - from my driveway. With no notes, no studio, and no filters, this is a messy, honest year-end reflection on business, life, and everything in between. In this episode, I share what this past year really looked like behind the scenes, why consistency doesn't always mean perfection, and how I'm thinking about community, connection, content, and in-person experiences moving into the new year. We'll talk about social media, AI, handwritten notes, face-to-face conversations, and why relationships matter more than ever in a noisy world. If you're ending the year feeling proud, tired, hopeful, or unsure - you're not alone. Consider this a reminder that it's okay to give yourself grace and that done is better than perfect.Links mentioned in the episode:#GetSocialSmart AcademySmall Group CoachingLet's connect on Instagram @katielanceGet free stickers hereWould love to hear your feedback and what you would like to see in the new year - email me katie@katielance.com.
