In this sermon we begin a series inspired by a book called What Makes You Come Alive: A Spiritual Walk With Howard Thurman by Lerita Coleman Brown. We use Thurman's famous quote to jumpstart our reflections on what it means to live in the spirit of the resurrection. [The quote: “Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do that, because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.”] In this sermon we talk about Thurman's experience of Halley's Comet and what his Mom taught him there, Brennan Manning's words about grace, Jesus' questions to Peter and how he never stops asking them, about what it means to know that you belong to God and how that is at the center of the journey of faith.
Pastor Al Dagel tells us that "we are here to please God". This Psalm teaches us how to do just that. Let us please God like David did.

In this life-changing sermon, we explore what it means to honor the position God appoints — even when the person in that position seems unworthy. From David's loyalty to Saul, to Jacob's impatience with God's promise, to Absalom's rebellion against his father David — this message dives deep into the tension between loyalty to people and loyalty to God's mission. What you'll learn: Why David refused to take shortcuts to the throne How Jacob's manipulation cost him years of peace The danger of misplaced loyalty in relationships, family, and church How to discern when loyalty is godly, and when it's compromise Why God honors those who honor His appointed order “David wasn't being loyal to Saul. He was being loyal to God.” You'll be challenged to examine your heart: Who are you loyal to? Are they building or tearing down? Are they walking in God's mission or pushing their own agenda? This message will help you develop godly loyalty — the kind that builds unity, honors authority, and stays rooted in love. “Outdo one another in showing honor.” – Romans 12:10 “God honors those who honor.” – 1 Samuel 2:30 Don't forget to Like, Subscribe, and Share if this word speaks to your heart! #Sermon #BiblicalLoyalty #KingDavid #GodsTiming #SpiritualLeadership #Honor #ChristianLiving #ChurchUnity #SermonOnLoyalty #FaithInAction

THE ABC's OF CHRISTIANITY God Loves Me Babies die without love! Teenagers get their hearts wrecked because of it, and adults seek it and hunt for it all our lives. WHY IS GOD'S LOVE SO IMPORTANT? Because He Pursues Us with Love! “Toward the evening, they heard the Lord God walking about in the garden, so they hid themselves among the trees. The Lord God called to Adam, ‘Where are you?'” Genesis 3:8, 9 NLT “I knew you were a gracious and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” Jonah 4:2 NLT “If you had a hundred sheep, and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine and go search for the lost one until you found it? And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders.” Luke 15: 4, 5 NLT Because It Includes More Than You Think Because of His love, God forgives more than we think God is a loving God, but also holy and just! We should be condemned because we are unholy Christ died to pay my penalty and satisfy God's justice “Jesus suffered the death penalty for us. In so doing, He expressed the LOVE of God, He upheld the HOLINESS of God and He satisfied the JUSTICE of God.” God's forgiveness is real. He gives it as an expression of His love “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 NLT “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, no one is likely to die for a good person, though some might be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:6-8 NLT Because He Keeps On Loving Us With That Love “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken…says the Lord who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 NLT “Love never gives up…love will last forever” Corinthians 13: 7, 8 NLT Because He went to extraordinary lengths to prove it “I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those who are on the road to destruction. But we who are being saved recognize this message as the very power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT
Loyalty is one of the qualities that moves the heart of God. In a culture where commitment is rare and leaving is easy, God is still looking for people who stay faithful—to Him, to their calling, and to the people He's placed in their lives. In this message, we explore what true loyalty looks like through powerful stories from Scripture: Eve in the Garden, Judas and Jesus, the prophet in 1 Kings 13, and the nation of Israel demanding a king. Each moment reveals what happens when we stay loyal—and what happens when we don't. If you've ever felt tempted to walk away, chase “something better,” or spiritualize a decision that's really about discomfort, this is for you. Learn: • Why God values loyalty so deeply • How discontentment leads to disloyalty • The difference between healthy change and spiritual compromise • Why loyalty often looks like endurance in hard seasons • How to discern when a "better" opportunity is really a test
In Jesus, you can learn to love what God loves and to avoid what God hates.

This powerful Easter Sunday message from Pastor John takes us deep into the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prepared His heart for the cross—and where loyalty and betrayal collided. In a world that often values convenience over commitment, loyalty is a rare but essential virtue. Through the story of Judas's betrayal, Peter's denial, and ultimately, Jesus's unwavering faithfulness, Pastor John challenges us to reflect on our own loyalty—especially to God, to truth, and to the people and responsibilities He has entrusted to us. We're reminded that God keeps a record—not out of bitterness or control, but out of a divine commitment to justice. And yet, through the blood of Jesus, we are offered complete forgiveness and restoration. God's justice isn't about condemnation; it's about setting things right through love and sacrifice. ✨ Are you in a moment of trial or temptation? ✨ Have you failed, denied, or walked away? ✨ This message is for you. Join us as we explore: The weight of loyalty in the eyes of God How betrayal impacts relationships The redemptive power of the Resurrection Why Jesus's question to Peter—"Do you love me?"—is still being asked today
Am I not an apostle (a special messenger)? Am I not free (unrestrained and exempt from any obligation)? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you [yourselves] not [the product and proof of] my workmanship in the Lord?2 Even if I am not considered an apostle (a special messenger) by others, at least I am one to you; for you are the seal (the certificate, the living evidence) of my apostleship in the Lord [confirming and authenticating it].3 This is my [real ground of] defense (my vindication of myself) to those who would put me on trial and cross-examine me.4 Have we not the right to our food and drink [at the expense of the churches]?5 Have we not the right also to take along with us a Christian sister as wife, as do the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas (Peter)?6 Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from doing manual labor for a livelihood [in order to go about the work of the ministry]?7 [Consider this:] What soldier at any time serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat any of the fruit of it? Who tends a flock and does not partake of the milk of the flock?8 Do I say this only on human authority and as a man reasons? Does not the Law endorse the same principle?9 For in the Law of Moses it is written, You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn. Is it [only] for oxen that God cares?10 Or does He speak certainly and entirely for our sakes? [Assuredly] it is written for our sakes, because the plowman ought to plow in hope, and the thresher ought to thresh in expectation of partaking of the harvest.11 If we have sown [the seed of] spiritual good among you, [is it too] much if we reap from your material benefits?12 If others share in this rightful claim upon you, do not we [have a still better and greater claim]? However, we have never exercised this right, but we endure everything rather than put a hindrance in the way [of the spread] of the good news (the Gospel) of Christ.13 Do you not know that those men who are employed in the services of the temple get their food from the temple? And that those who tend the altar share with the altar [in the offerings brought]?14 [On the same principle] the Lord directed that those who publish the good news (the Gospel) should live (get their maintenance) by the Gospel.15 But I have not made use of any of these privileges, nor am I writing this [to suggest] that any such provision be made for me [now]. For it would be better for me to die than to have anyone make void and deprive me of my [ground for] glorifying [in this matter].16 For if I [merely] preach the Gospel, that gives me no reason to boast, for I feel compelled of necessity to do it. Woe is me if I do not preach the glad tidings (the Gospel)!17 For if I do this work of my own free will, then I have my pay (my reward); but if it is not of my own will, but is done reluctantly and under compulsion, I am [still] entrusted with a [sacred] trusteeship and commission.18 What then is the [actual] reward that I get? Just this: that in my preaching the good news (the Gospel), I may offer it [absolutely] free of expense [to anybody], not taking advantage of my rights and privileges [as a preacher] of the Gospel.19 For although I am free in every way from anyone's control, I have made myself a bond servant to everyone, so that I might gain the more [for Christ].20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to men under the Law, [I became] as one under the Law, though not myself being under the Law, that I might win those under the Law.21 To those without (outside) law I became as one without law, not that I am without the law of God and lawless toward Him, but that I am [especially keeping] within and committed to the law of Christ, that I might win those who are without law.22 To the weak (wanting in discernment) I have become weak (wanting in discernment) that I might win the weak and overscrupulous. I have [in short] become all things to all men, that I might by all means (at all costs and in any and every way) save some [by winning them to faith in Jesus Christ].23 And I do this for the sake of the good news (the Gospel), in order that I may become a participator in it and share in its [blessings along with you].24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.25 Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.26 Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary.27 But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].FAITHBUCKS.COM

The scriptures remind us when we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. God drenches us in His love and gives us the capacity to love others the same way. Living well, is letting go of a temporary role to gain a far greater identity - one who loves like Jesus.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America.
