He was also Fake Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Howard Stern show and much more! His impressions of Robert DeNiro, Jeff Goldblum and so many more have been featured all over. But what about the man behind the voice: Josh Robert Thompson. How does being the voice feel, how do you embrace a character in Hollywood that many people can't even learn is YOU. Star Trek Voyager's Manu Intiraymi played Icheb on the show... When Manu rushed to defend actor Kevin Spacey in 2017, before fully understanding the weight of the accusations - the Star Trek community turned on him. As Manu learned more and apologized - the damage was done. Petitions were created to ban Manu Intiraymi from Star Trek conventions and more, leading to some very dark days. To make matters worse: the actor wasn't brought back to reprise his role on an episode of Star Trek: Picard, and SPOILER ALERT! His character was killed. I wanted to hear Manu's side of things, his take on the state of Star Trek, his feelings on the Picard write off, and more... if you'd like to support Manu, you can follow him on https://twitter.com/ManuIntiraymi or look up and support some of his newer films: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0409430/ If you'd like to support this series and future episodes, please SUBSCRIBE to this channel, or visit http://www.patreon.com/HuggingTheCactus to become a member OR visit http://Uncanceled.com to donate via GoFundMe
The media often likes to post unproven generalities as "Facts", and they do it A LOT now that Michael Jackson has passed away... One popular article in particular, comes from Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth. I wanted to get to the bottom of these "Undeniable Facts" as she called them. The first couple were addressed in Part 2 of this interview, but I wanted to get to the rest of them with Michael Jackson's eldest nephew: Taj Jackson. If you missed Part one of our interview with Taj , you can see it here: https://youtu.be/G0Bc3WPcxwM or wherever you listen to this podcast. And check out Part 3 where Taj discusses movies Michael loved: https://youtu.be/3HIk3F4JMNI You can support this series, Hugging The Cactus over on our Patreon: http://Patreon.com/HuggingTheCactus Or Learn More at http://www.Uncanceled.com Hugging The Cactus is created, edited and directed by ANDY SIGNORE - http://www.twitter.com/andysignore
This is Taj Jackson. He is Michael Jackson's eldest nephew... While much has been said about Taj's uncle Michael over the years… He was undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers. And he was remembered as such all the way through his tragic death in 2009. It wasn't until 2019, ten years after Michael Jackson's passing, that the narrative officially shifted, in response to an HBO documentary called Leaving Neverland. Taj is here to defend Michael Jackson. You can support more episodes of Hugging The Cactus over on Patreon: http://Patreon.com/HuggingTheCactus Or Learn More at http://www.Uncanceled.com
Hugging The Cactus Dale Wheatley was the writer and producer of Don's Plum starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. The film was a slice of 90's life, done as a black & white indie. Leonardo DiCaprio made a deal with Dale and director R.D. Robb (A Christmas Story) to support the film, as long as it didn't embarrass him. This is Nicole Crowther - She was an aspiring filmmaker and actress that moved out to Hollywood, from Florida to pursue her dreams… She was beginning to do well, securing background roles in film and TV, including one day of extra work on of her favorite TV show: GLEE. Months later when hanging with some fellow extra friends, someone speculated about upcoming event on the show. Nicole, a massive fan of Glee at the time, shared this info in code in a tweet to her few hundred followers, they engaged happily and Nicole went to bed. When she woke up, her life changed forever. With over 2,000 email notifications, she learned that Glee Producer, Brad Falchuk tweeted at her directly, confirming her tweet as a spoiler, publicly blacklisting her from Hollywood, and sending his Glee army to cancel Nicole overnight. The news went international, paparazzi started following her… it got so bad that Nicole started getting death threats… The truth is, no one had all the correct information - Nicole didn't work on the show - she wasn't fired... Nicole didn't know she was spoiling it - and studios and extra agencies at the time, had no contracts in place to protect from such situations. What happened to Nicole was shameful, and its time for Nicole to share her full story. I'm Andy Signore, and this is Hugging the Cactus. Everyone is stuck at home and binging Netflix's latest phenomenon: Tiger King, starring the one and only: Joe Exotic. The show really stuck with me, as I believe it has with many others. I wanted to talk to someone from the show to learn more about the Tiger King himself, Joe Exotic. Does he deserve redemption? What was the truth? Does he have remorse? Did he do wrongs that deserve the time he's spending behind bars? I am grateful for his employee and friend Kelci "Saff" Saffery to come in and shed some light on the real Joe Exotic, as as one of the most genuine people on the show, where did Saff come from? Does Saff regret being in the documentary? Does Saff believe in Joe? Does Joe deserve to be behind bars? We discuss it all. We also did a LIVE Q&A with Saff, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/XlMlA7bU7-E I urge you listen, do your own research and make up your own mind. You can watch the full series on Netflix, or listen to the Joe Exotic: Tiger King podcast... his is Part 2 of Hugging The Cactus and my exclusive interview with Richard Hatch. You can watch Part 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_A09... or wherever you listen to your podcast. You most likely know him from CBS's hit reality show: Survivor. He was the winner of season 1, which when it aired in the summer of 2000 was such a smash - it was watched by over 51 million viewers. He was a character we hadn't really seen before on a reality show that was like no other. He was openly gay, and decided to play much of the game in the nude… But most importantly he understood the social experiment he was part of - and played the game masterfully. Pioneering elements of the game that ultimately made it what it is today - but the show instead presented him as a villain… Fans and critics labeled him Machiavellian. When he appeared again on Survivor's first all-stars season. Producers exploited an unfound allegation made against him to make him even more torrid. And then in 2006, the IRS came down on him for evading taxes on his million dollar winnings. He was convicted and served over 51 months in prison, one of the largest terms on record for the amount he owed. The media continued to label him a villain. But really happened? Survivor producers and Jeff Probst have spoken fondly of him over the years, inviting him back multiple times - however for this year's first ever All-Winners Edition "Survivor: Winners At War", host and Executive producer Jeff Probst stated “I didn't feel comfortable having him out on the show and representing a show that is for families.” Is Richard Hatch unsafe? a villian? A criminal?? I wanted to find out, and he was gracious enough to chat with me to share his side of all of it. I urge you listen, do your own research and make up your own mind. Caylan Ford a rising, right-leaning politician in Calgary, Canada, was wrongfully labeled a racist by the media of her opposing political party, due to private out of context exchanges shared by someone who was out to destroy her. Her words were distorted, for maximum take her down, and she was canceled overnight, labeled terrible things, and has been unable to support her family since. People move on, or say "Cancel culture doesn't exist, its deserved". But what did Caylan truly say, that should label her to never be able to work again? Caylan is still struggling to find steady ground. This is her story, through her own words. I urge you listen, do your own research and make up your own mind. I launched "Hugging the Cactus" as a place to tell some more serious stories, and have some more difficult conversations... all with the goal of opening dialogues that can help others heal. I figured I needed to truly start with myself. Rather than repeat myself, I wanted to offer a new perspective on my journey - the view of it all from my own mother. She was incredibly hard on me through my journey - which you can learn more about here: https://youtu.be/3wgOFa4A0UM I hope watching us talk so openly, might be inspiring for others to be more honest in their own lives.
