Joe Riggio (Varsity House, Business of Strength) joins Pieter Vodden to talk about what really separates gyms that grow from gyms that fade out: business fundamentals, leadership, culture, and having the humility to get coached. They go back to the early Jim Jones days—why traveling for education builds confidence, camaraderie, and “earned” self-respect—and how that same mindset became a blueprint for building better businesses. Joe breaks down the origin of Business of Strength (from early workshops to mastermind groups), why most gym owners hit the “coach-owner paradox,” and how perspective, systems, and community can pull you out of the weeds. They also recap their Cactus to Clouds attempt—training prep, pacing, hydration, gear, and why you don't do this hike casually. The conversation widens into endurance vs. strength, VO2 max and longevity, fatherhood, resilience, and why doing hard things on purpose makes real life easier. If you're a coach, gym owner, or someone trying to build strength that carries into the real world—this one is for you.
This week we revived the tent with some new lifeforms! Specifically a Trichocereus Bridgesii Monstrose that has three segments currently! These cacti have been utilized for thousands of years by human beings to connect and commune with the universe and are an essential tool in any explorers toolkit! I go over some of the alkaloids and triterpinoids found in this species as well as some other trichocereus varieties other than the TBM. Terpenes are found in all kinds of plants so it's important to cover all of the ones used for exploration of the mind, body, and soul!I am currently recovering from a cold so this episode is shorter, stay tuned for next week's Chrimmus special where I will be sowing seeds several other Trichocereus varieties and documenting their growth over the next few months! Thank you all for the continued support! I'm excited for this new chapter in the tent!Support the show
This week on The Luke Branquinho Show, Luke sits down with Barry Berg, General Manager of Cactus Ropes, for a more in-depth conversation following last week's episode. Barry shares the craftsmanship, innovation, and grit behind one of the most trusted rope brands in rodeo. With more than 34 years in business, Cactus Ropes has earned its reputation through consistency, hands-on craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of what ropers need at every level. The company ships over 1,000 ropes a day, maintaining the same attention to detail that helped build the brand from the ground up. Barry walks through the stories behind iconic ropes like the Bad Boy, Magnet, Hypnotic, Amigo, Kool Cat, Thriller, and Swagger, how a devastating factory fire in 2004 reshaped the operation, and what it truly takes to develop what they call the “perfect rope.” He also reflects on a major turning point in 2009, when Trevor Brazile joined the Cactus Ropes team, a partnership that helped elevate the brand and solidify its place at the highest level of professional rodeo. Blending history, innovation, and real-world experience, this episode offers an inside look at the work and mindset behind ropes trusted by champions and everyday ropers alike. ━━━━━━━━━━ ★

George Ogilvie, President and CEO of Arizona Sonoran Copper (TSX:ASCU – OTCQX:ASCUF), joins us to outline the key metrics from the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) on the Cactus Project in Arizona and the envisioned mine plan. We also get an exploration update, more clarity around the permitting process, discuss the recent capital raise, and review the pathway to production. PFS Highlights include: Simple open pit / SXEW operation producing approximately 103,000 tonnes (226 million lbs) of estimated average annual copper cathodes over the first 10 years of mining, which would make Cactus the third largest cathode producer in the USA Industry-leading capital intensity of $10,894 per tonne of copper cathodes produced $574 million of average annual EBITDA1 Strong economics to support the continued development of Cactus with a focus on simplicity and executability of the open pit copper cathode project, on private land in Arizona Cactus Project is well positioned over the 22-year Project Life of Mine (“LoM”) to generate value at a variety of copper prices: Conventional, Cost-effective Mining and Processing: Open-pit, Heap Leach and SXEW Operation with Oxide and Enriched Materials from Cactus and Parks/Salyer open pits over 22 years of processing Cash costs (C1) of $1.34/lb, All in Sustaining Costs (“AISC”) of $1.62/lb and All in Costs (“AIC”)1 of $2.01/lb Initial mineral reserves of 513 million tons at a grade of 0.52% Total Copper in the Proven and Probable category for 5.3 billion pounds of contained copper 65% conversion of leachable M&I mineral resources to mineral reserves, with increased grades reporting to the heap leach pads Significant benefits to the local community and economy of Arizona, including projected creation of an estimated 600+ direct jobs Future mine expansion opportunities outside of the current mineable copper reserves, including late mine life primary sulphides, Cactus East and other exploration targets Final investment decision as early as Q4 2026 with targeted first cathodes in 2029 George reviews how the incorporation of the newer MainSpring area into the larger Parks-Salyer deposit, over the last 2 years has allowed for a shift in strategy from underground mining over to an open-pit mining method. They are reviewing moving the center of the open pit more towards the high-grade portion of the Park-Salyer deposit, the infill drilling showed it expanding towards that direction, which presented better economics and a faster payback period, as outlined in the PFS. George also provides some updates on permitting for the project, and the importance of it being on private land to help expedite the process, and that they should be submitting their applications later this year for administrative acceptance by early 2026, and then approval 6 months later. This permitting process will time out well with the release of their Bankable Feasibility Study. Next we discussed the news on December 2nd, which announced that the Company closed its previously announced private placement of common shares of the Company pursuant to which the Company issued, on a “bought deal” basis, 25,746,300 Common Shares, including 3,358,200 Common Shares granted to the underwriters, at a price of $3.35 per Common Share, for aggregate gross proceeds of C$86,250,105. This gives the company the runway to execute on all coming workstreams heading into the Bankable Feasibility Study and the capital stack coming together for a construction decision late next year. If you have any follow up questions for George about Arizona Sonoran, then please email us at Fleck@kereport.com or Shad@kereport.com. Dave Cole, CEO of Elemental Royalty Corporation (TSXV: ELE) (Nasdaq: ELE) joins me to outline the value proposition of the proforma combination of Elemental Altus Royalties with EMX Royalty Corporation, to form an emerging intermediate royalty company. In addition to circling the globe to highlight various partner projects and operators inside their portfolio of royalties, we also discuss the value of having Tether Investments S.A. de C.V as a key stakeholder. We start reminding investors of the big-picture rationale for this merger; creating a larger royalty company of scale, graduating up to the intermediate category. The new combined Company will have more analyst coverage and liquidity, a better cost of capital, the financial strength from the backing of the key strategic shareholder Tether Investments; and the potential to rerate in the future to a better price to net asset value multiple more in alignment with larger royalty peers. Dave then takes us through a global tour of their diversified portfolio of royalties across precious metals, critical minerals, and battery metals. He touched upon their key cornerstone royalty partner projects like Caserones, Timok, Karlawinda, and Laverton, as well as a number of other solid producing royalties on Leeville, Gediktepe, Balya, and the suite of West African royalties (Korali-Sud, Wahgnion, and Bonikro). Dave also flagged a few key large development projects with compelling royalty upside as those projects move towards development, like the Cactus and Peak projects in Arizona, Diablillos in Argentina, Viscaria & Vittangi in Sweden, and Laverton in Australia. In addition to growing royalties year over year, there are also a number of one-off incoming payments on pre-production royalties that are still generating revenues via lease-option payments, stage-gate payments to advance properties, advanced minimum royalty payments, and that come in by way of cash and often times shares in partner companies. Dave points to the organic development growth still on tap in their portfolio of royalties, the future upside of their continued royalty generation strategy, the potential for larger future royalty acquisitions and royalty financings to create new royalties, and that further down the road they'll keep their eyes out for accretive M&A opportunities. Wrapping up Dave highlights the importance of having Tether Investments as their key strategic shareholder, and they financially backstop the kinds of accretive acquisitions that they can now go after. He also explains a bit more background on the use case for Tether stablecoins, how their company generates revenues holding treasuries, and why they are storing so much of their profits in gold, farmland, and royalty company equities. If you have any follow up questions for Dave or the team ate Elemental Royalty Corp, then please email them to me at Shad@kereport.com. In one of the most iconic founding legends of the Americas, a Golden Eagle devouring a serpent atop a cactus marked the spot where the Mexicas would build Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec Empire. Over the centuries, that ancient metropolis transformed into what we now call Mexico City. Though the mythical eagle is now commemorated on the national flag of Mexico, real Golden Eagles need our help through conservation research and habitat protections.¡Escuche este episodio en español!More info and transcript at BirdNote.org.Want more BirdNote? The day starts with fart etiquette and donuts and somehow ends with a heartfelt riff on friendship, parenting, and the strange rules of public bathrooms. That's tour life: messy, loud, and full of tiny moments that turn into the stories we repeat for years. With our favorite chaos magnet Cactus Tate back on the mic, we stumble through airport bathroom mix-ups, “rocks don't float” river logic, and the unflinching honesty that only comes from living shoulder to shoulder on the road.We go there: hemorrhoids, period logistics, and why menthol pads are a war crime. But the point isn't shock—it's empathy. Etiquette becomes a running joke about respect, whether it's not farting on someone's food or knowing when to laugh a meltdown back to earth. We share the kind of bits that only happen when you're sleep-deprived and over-caffeinated: a fan recognition during a puke spiral, an emergency hoodie mission, and the cursed suitcase wrapped in duct tape and bravado. Viv makes an appearance in our stories too—cigarettes, dogs, and the kind of practical generosity that keeps comics moving.Parenting shows up as the quiet center. We talk about using humor to coach a kid through fear, staying calm when safety is on the line, and how our reactions become theirs. Between vape “quits,” train-ripping for sleep, and the war between water and cherry-flavored poison, we land on the same truth: touring is survival by community. The jokes keep us afloat; the care keeps us going.Hit play for a blast of road-tested comedy, travel horror stories, and the kind of friendship that makes the worst moments bearable and the best ones unforgettable. If you laughed, learned, or just felt seen, follow the show, share it with a friend, and drop a review so more people can find us.Support the showhttps://www.patreon.com/c/DiscombobulatedwithBobbyJaycox

Interview with Scott Caithness, Managing Director of Hawk Resources Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/hawk-resources-asxhwk-new-exploration-model-revitalises-historic-utah-mining-district-6860Recording date: 12th November 2025Hawk Resources (ASX:HWK) is preparing to drill its flagship Cactus copper-gold project in Utah this December, targeting five high-priority prospects in a historically productive mining district. Managing Director Scott Caithness recently outlined the company's systematic exploration approach and the multiple pathways to value creation at this advanced-stage project. The Cactus district boasts an impressive mining heritage, with the original mine operating between 1905 and 1920, producing 1.3 million tons at 2% copper with gold credits of 0.3 grams per ton and 6-7 grams per ton silver. Modern exploration has validated this potential, with Rio Tinto's previous work intersecting 42 meters at 1.9% copper and 0.6 g/t gold, while multiple historical drill holes have exceeded 1.4% copper grades.Hawk has employed a sophisticated dual-track strategy, identifying both deep geophysical targets with district-scale potential and near-surface oxide mineralization that could provide rapid development opportunities. The company's comprehensive geophysical surveys and systematic soil sampling—the first conducted over these targets - have defined five priority drill targets ranked by geological confidence. The Copperopolis target exemplifies the project's exploration potential, featuring a massive geophysical anomaly with surface soils returning up to 1,000 ppm copper. A 1974 drill hole off the anomaly's edge intersected 30 meters at 0.2% copper, yet the core remains untested with potential for substantial mineralization. With A$5 million recently raised and Utah permitting expected by end-November 2025, Hawk is fully funded for its 12-hole drilling program. Initial assay results are anticipated in Q1 2026, providing regular newsflow through the critical discovery phase.Beyond Cactus, the company has secured the Olympus scandium project in Western Australia, featuring a 4km x 7km soil anomaly grading over 500ppm scandium. This provides significant optionality in an emerging critical mineral with growing aerospace and defense applications, currently valued at approximately $3-3.5 million per ton.View Hawk Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/alderan-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

When brutal weather forced Cactus Rose to relocate to the unforgiving hills of Camp Eagle, most runners hesitated—but not Houston's own Madeline Green. With no aid stations, no crew, and endless miles of mud, rain, and lightning, she pushed through 105 miles of chaos to become the only female finisher of one of Texas' toughest ultramarathons. In this episode, Stephanie and Andrew dive into Madeline's mindset—how she handled a last-minute course change, two nights alone on the trail, and the mental rollercoaster of a self-supported 100-miler. From training on Houston's flatlands to conquering Camp Eagle's rocky climbs, her story is pure grit and quiet determination. As always, things get candid, funny, and just a little chaotic. The crew swaps stories about storms, hallucinations, and what happens when your headlamp flash convinces you lightning's about to strike. Madeline talks redemption, recovery, and what it means to represent women in the most rugged corners of ultrarunning—all while proving that sometimes, the loneliest miles lead to the loudest triumphs.Be sure to subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen, and we always appreciate you leaving a good rate and review. Chaiah (pronounced ‘Kaya') Sullivan has been impressing the glass world and Instagram followers with his beautiful and intricate cactus-inspired functional glass to the tune of a 94K following and growing. He came upon the cactus after a friend mistakenly referred to another plant pipe he had created as a cactus and decided to give making a realistic cactus pipe a try. “I never really expected to be the cactus guy,” Sullivan says. Growing up in Paonia, a small town on the Western Slope of Colorado, Sullivan first discovered flameworking in 2005 at age 14. Two years later, he started working as an assistant at a local hotshop, North Rim Glass LLC. He practiced as a hobbyist while finishing high school, then put all his focus into glass. In 2010, he attended Penland School of Crafts, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There he studied with Janis Miltenberger, a Washington-based artist who works with borosilicate glass to create large-scale narrative sculpture. Like Sullivan, much of Miltenberger's glass art is inspired by botanical elements found in nature such as leaves and flowers. In 2013, Sullivan took a series of collaborative classes at Glasscraft in Golden, Colorado, where he had the chance to learn from artists such as Salt and Robert Mickelsen, from whom he learned the hollow sculpting technique he uses today. Says Sullivan: “The inside of my pieces have the same contour as the outside. I put all my ridges in and then along each ridge I add dots; once those are all melted in, I pluck each spike out individually. Sometimes I do get a little sick of plucking thousands of spikes over and over and over again. But once you see all your work come to fruition, it makes it all worth it. There's something about making it functional on top of it being a beautiful art piece that really pushes me.” After learning many different styles and techniques, Sullivan explored and experimented to develop his own style of work under the name Unparalleled Glass. He was awarded Dr. Dabber Glass Masters 1st Place in 2023; the Puffco Glass Open 1st Place in 2022; and Champs' Emerging Artist 1st Place in May 2017. Enjoy this conversation about the progression of Sullivan's cactus designs, the device attachments he's been developing and his recently released foot pedals and oxygen systems. He also discusses recent lighting and installation pieces as well as some fun projects in the works.
Arizona Sonoran CEO, George Ogilvie, joins the podcast late today for a discussion on the announced and updated preliminary feasibility study for the Cactus Project. The report highlights an open-pit / SXEW operation producing approximately 103,000 tonnes (226 million lbs) of estimated average annual copper cathodes over the first 10 years of mining, which would make Cactus the third largest cathode producer in the USA. We discuss the economics of the project within this report, the changes from the PEA, and the opportunities for future mine financing.

Everyone is firing insults and insanity on all cylinders are usual, but are also taking their time and actually getting to the bottom of the 100 insane accusations we get per episode.Like Lisa accused Angie of... having a credit card? Why is that bad? What does that mean? Are the ladies at their peak performance thus far? We think so, and we have a lot of Freudian analysis on why Brittany can't stop stroking that cactus.

Planning a loved one's burial or cremation is a difficult experience under the best of circumstances. When Diana's stepfather, Cactus, gets sick during the early stages of Alzheimer's and sees a billboard advertising simple cremations for $695 at Sunset Mesa Funeral Home, he requests that his family cremate him and not spend a lot of money. But when Cactus dies and his cremains go missing under mysterious circumstances, it sets off a series of events that not only exacerbates the family's grief, but also tips off a lengthy investigation by Reuters journalists that rocks a small community in western Colorado and exposes the dark, unregulated side of the body trade industry.
