Anika and Liz let their hair down, and as it tumbles over their shoulders in perfect beach waves identical to the hair of every other woman on television in the 2020s, they return to their discussion of hair and hair styling in Star Trek... Liz has a theory about why Janeway's early hair was … like that. And we're sorry, but it does involve Margaret Thatcher and Madeleine Albright Enterprise: the end of the torturous updo WASP beauty standards, "professionalism" and Michael Burnham The Romulans of season 1 of Picard (yes, Anika is going to wax lyrical about the Romulannisters, and you WILL like it) Every single woman in season 3 of Star Trek: Picard except Raffi has American Girl Doll Samantha hair (Anika will explain American Girl Dolls and Samantha) (Una and Batel have The Hair too) Tasha's hair did not necessarily signify queerness in the 1980s, but Ortegas's hair absolutely does today, and so it's weird that they don't … you know … We actually don't have much to say about Pike's hair, save that it looks … sticky
Christopher Monfette has written for movies, tv, and comics. He was a Co-EP at Marvel, Magic: The Gathering, and Star Trek: Picard, and a Producer on 9-1-1 and 12 Monkeys. He has a brand new series from Dark Horse Comics called TexArcanum with artist Miguel Martos. Jimmy described the series as Supernatural meets Justified, which Christopher confirms that's how he pitched it. Christopher talks about his writing influences, the differences with writing for different media, his journey from covering projects as a journalist to creating his own. Plus Jimmy can't resist asking about Star Trek: Picard. There's so much great stuff in this interview, especially for newer creators. TexArcanum #1 is out July 23rd. TexArcanum TexArcanum Trailer From the Publisher America is a melting pot for the supernatural. Ghosts and gods, angels and demons, horror stories and tall-tales, they've traveled from across the globe to collide in the rural Heartland… and cowboy arcanist Avery Belle has spent a very long lifetime amongst them. I know many of you out there have been clamoring for this, but I've been holding out on covering it, since watching Star Trek on a Star Trek podcast is a bit obvious. However, after being worn down by all of you, I have finally decided to give in and watch Star Trek on our show... you bunch of rubes. But will Star Trek live up to its lofty legacy? Will it make for a good episode on our Star Trek podcast? Only time will tell... or, only time travel will tell? Whatever, let's just get this over with and watch the first movie of this rebooted Star Trek film trilogy. This is the beginning of the final part of our 100-episode list, Venturing Out Into The Universe, in which we're examining how the Star Trek franchise has grown and changed over its history. In this chunk of episodes, we're going to be looking at Modern Trek--the franchise's big splashy return after the end of its golden age. This will be a ten-episode selection comprised of the beginnings of all the different series of this era: Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Short Treks, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, as well as one of the movies of the reboot film trilogy, all spanning from 2009-2022. Episode discussion starts at 32:51. Hosted by Jaron Hatch, Jennie Beal, with Toby Simmons, Natty Taylor, and Dallas Fawson. Star Trek: Picard, Series 2, Episode 6. First broadcast on Thursday 7 April 2022. Stardate: Unknown (12–13 April 2024). This week: a party. The crew of La Sirena turn up at a lavish black-tie gala for some top-quality character work, only to be overshadowed by an incredible musical number by Alison Pill and a lovely scene of kindly encouragement from Patrick Stewart. But then they find themselves overshadowed, in turn, by the ineffable hotness of Santiago Cabrera.

Interview with Director Joe Menendez on "Henry Danger: The Movie"Joe Menendez's Background:Always wanted to be a director and producer.Grew up in the '80s influenced by iconic films like Star Wars and Steven Spielberg's works, making escapist, popcorn movies his passion.Early interest led him to make Super 8 movies as a child.Based on: Popular Nickelodeon sitcom "Henry Danger," originally aired 2014–2020.The movie expands on the show's universe, adding spectacle and action beyond what the sitcom format allowed.Targets a wide audience—original fans (now older), current younger viewers, and parents, ensuring there's entertainment value for all age groups.Believes strongly in respecting and understanding the craft of actors, writers, and editors without personally wanting to perform in those roles.Finds collaboration with actors deeply rewarding, especially moments of genuine discovery during filming. If Joe could travel back and guest-star in any classic show or film, he'd choose:Moonlighting (working at the detective agency).Star Wars (as a Jedi).E.T. (as a kid flying across the moon).Would love to direct a crossover between "Henry Danger" and "Star Trek: Picard," humorously envisioning Kid Danger joining Jean-Luc Picard on a space adventure.Joe emphasizes the importance of valuing friends and family above career or material success, a theme central to "Henry Danger: The Movie."Premiere Date: January 17th on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.About "Henry Danger: The Movie":Joe's Approach to Filmmaking:Fun and Personal Insights:Important Life Lesson Shared:Premiere Information:
Recorded December 1, 2024 This week, Nate talks about a cross country event (surprise, surprise) which he hosted and it may have grown a bit larger than he originally expected. After that, Nate and Ryan talk about things that end well, as all good things must. Then, they have what Ryan only could describe as a Fanta brand Calpis and Baskin Robins Kit Kats. Finally, to wrap everything up, they discuss internal android wars, the strength of nostalgia, and their love for the TNG cast in their discussion of the final season of Picard. Anika and Liz put on their least comfortable lounging clothes and settle in to discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 6, episode 22, "Suspicions". Why is Beverly Crusher hosting an astrophysics conference? And other questions that will forever go unanswered However, this episode, which makes no sense in the context of TNG, makes a LOT of sense in the context of Star Trek: Picard, and its theme of marginalised people doing SCIENCE is resonant in 2025 You're not gonna believe this, but you can't actually just substitute Beverly for Geordi and Worf and not make any other changes to a story Breaking down the Star Trek monocultures This unremarkable episode has one of Picard's best speeches in the entire franchise Beverly Crusher puts on heels and pantyhose to lounge around at home, because athleisurewear had not yet been invited in 1993 PITCH: the next streaming movie should be about Philippa Georgiou and Guinan DOING A HEIST

Happy Tuesday, everyone! If you are a fan of Marvel, or Star Trek, or just good Sci-Fi, then you are going to love this week's guest— I'm talking with my new friend Terry Matalas! Terry broke out when he created the TV adaptation of 12 Monkeys. He has gone on to write and direct the last two seasons of Star Trek: Picard, he did a season of MacGyver, and he's currently finishing Vision Quest and an animated adaptation of Magic: The Gathering. Terry has his hands in so many amazing projects and I love to see it because he is truly the nicest, most appreciative guy. We're getting close to the end of our current Spotlight Series, looking at the Star Trek pilots, with Star Trek Picard's "Remembrance". This episode is our first look at Jean-Luc Picard since the end of Star Trek Nemesis. We know that this episode kicks off three seasons, reuniting the cast of TNG, for one final voyage. There is a lot of opinions on the first season of Picard, but one thing is certain: it was great seeing Patrick Stewart and the cast once again!

It's been five years since the first season of Star Trek: Picard concluded, and here in the month of March, Bryan & Kristen will be revisiting the episodes they didn't get to when they first kicked off coverage of the series. Back in 2022, Trek Marry Kill began by grading all the live action pilots, including Picard. We were joined by Hector Navarro from YouTube's Heroes Reforged, so rather than make you search through your feed for it in order to sync up with our new episodes this month that will complete season one -- here it is refreshed!
