As a gay author and activists he takes on the forces of discrimination and bigotry, and challenges those who cower. He reports on the news of the day in politics, media and pop culture, and he interviews all the big names — authors, newsmakers and icons from politics to entertainment. Signorile takes calls from listeners across North America, engaging in passionate discussion and often battling it out with dissenters — who occasionally even change their minds. It's Signorile's own brand of "conversion therapy,” as he calls it, “converting people from the nasty, vicious, perverted right-wing agenda to our more fun, fabulous and enlightened one." Mary McCormack is one of today's boldest and most versatile actresses, continually challenging herself with roles that often defy Hollywood standards and bring to light the complex lives of ordinary women. The LA Times says, “McCormack has a kind of 20th century sass, a lively impertinence you find in classic Hollywood comedians like Barbara Stanwyck, Irene Dunne and Rosalind Russell.” She has shown her immense talent working in film, television and on stage, and has tackled roles ranging from slapstick comedy to intense drama. Tony-nominated for her role in Broadway's “Boeing Boeing” opposite Mark Rylance, she is also widely known for her four seasons as a regular cast member of “The West Wing" (two SAG Award nominations), as the lead of USA's critically acclaimed “In Plain Sight,” and for her role opposite Howard Stern in Private Parts.  McCormack's recent television work includes starring roles in the ABC series “The Kids Are Alright,” the AMC series “Loaded,” the NBC comedy series “Welcome To The Family” as well as arcs on such shows as HBO's “The Newsroom,” “Scandal” (ABC), Gus van Sant's award-winning miniseries “When We Rise” (ABC), “House of Lies” (Showtime) and the “Will & Grace” reboot (NBC). McCormack will also appear in the new Hulu Blumhouse anthology series “Treehouse.” McCormack can also be seen in the HBO Max feature Unpregnant. In non-scripted, McCormack produces the hit game show “25 Words or Less” alongside Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky which was just renewed for a second season. Next up, McCormack can be seen staring in the STARZ series “Heels.”  McCormack returned to the Broadway stage in 2008 to star in “Boeing Boeing” alongside Christine Baranski, Mark Rylance and Bradley Whitford. Marc Camoletti's classic sixties comedy won the Tony for Best Revival and earned McCormack a 2008 Tony nomination for “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play.” Additional stage credits include a highly successful run opposite Alan Cumming as Sally Bowles in the Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall-directed Broadway production of “Cabaret” for the Roundabout Theatre Company, as well as the acclaimed London stage production of Neil LaBute's play “Bash,” the David Warren-directed productions of “My Marriage To Earnest Borgnine” and Jon Robin Baitz's “A Fair Country.”  McCormack breakout performance, opposite Howard Stern in Private Parts, won her universal critical acclaim. McCormack's additional television and feature credits include: Aaron Sorkin's NBC smash hit “The West Wing,” a recurring role on “ER,” Right At Your Door, the Stephen King thriller 1408, Christopher Guests' “For Your Consideration,” the Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney HBO political series “K-Street,” as Justine Appleton in Steve Bochco's “Murder One,” as well as the USA Network miniseries “Traffic,” directed by Stephen Hopkins (24). In addition, McCormack has appeared in varied roles in such films as Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star opposite David Spade; K-PAX opposite Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey; Full Frontal, directed by Steven Soderbergh and opposite David Duchovny and Catherine Keener; High Heels & Low Lifes with Minnie Driver; Mystery, Alaska, written by David E. Kelley and starring Russell Crowe; Other Voices, with Stockard Channing and Campbell Scott; The Broken Hearts Club, opposite John Mahoney and Timothy Olyphant; The Big Tease opposite Craig Ferguson; Gun Shy with Sandra Bullock and Liam Neeson; the Clint Eastwood film, True Crime; Mimi Leder's Deep Impact; The Alarmist, opposite Stanley Tucci; Father's Day and Miracle on 34th Street. She also appeared in Michael G. Cooney's The Men and the feature film Drone with Sean Bean as well as Amazon's period drama American Girl: Mary Ellen.  Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, McCormack is a graduate of Trinity College and resides with her family in Los Angeles. I always learn so much when I read or talk to him. Today Tim and I talked about his latest writing Get all of his books Tim Wise, whom scholar and philosopher Cornel West calls, “A vanilla brother in the tradition of (abolitionist) John Brown,” is among the nation's most prominent antiracist essayists and educators. He has spent the past 25 years speaking to audiences in all 50 states, on over 1000 college and high school campuses, at hundreds of professional and academic conferences, and to community groups across the nation. He has also lectured internationally in Canada and Bermuda, and has trained corporate, government, law enforcement and medical industry professionals on methods for dismantling racism in their institutions. Wise's antiracism work traces back to his days as a college activist in the 1980s, fighting for divestment from (and economic sanctions against) apartheid South Africa. After graduation, he threw himself into social justice efforts full-time, as a Youth Coordinator and Associate Director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Racism and Nazism: the largest of the many groups organized in the early 1990s to defeat the political candidacies of white supremacist and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. From there, he became a community organizer in New Orleans' public housing, and a policy analyst for a children's advocacy group focused on combatting poverty and economic inequity. He has served as an adjunct professor at the Smith College School of Social Work, in Northampton, MA., and from 1999-2003 was an advisor to the Fisk University Race Relations Institute in Nashville, TN. Wise is the author of seven books, including his highly-acclaimed memoir, White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, as well as Dear White America: Letter to a New Minority, and Under the Affluence: Shaming the Poor, Praising the Rich and Sacrificing the Future of America. His forthcoming book, White LIES Matter: Race, Crime and the Politics of Fear in America, will be released in 2018. His essays have appeared on Alternet, Salon, Huffington Post, Counterpunch, Black Commentator, BK Nation, Z Magazine and The Root, which recently named Wise one of the “8 Wokest White People We Know.” Wise has been featured in several documentaries, including “The Great White Hoax: Donald Trump and the Politics of Race and Class in America,” and “White Like Me: Race, Racism and White Privilege in America,” both from the Media Education Foundation. He also appeared alongside legendary scholar and activist, Angela Davis, in the 2011 documentary, “Vocabulary of Change.” In this public dialogue between the two activists, Davis and Wise discussed the connections between issues of race, class, gender, sexuality and militarism, as well as inter-generational movement building and the prospects for social change. Wise is also one of five persons—including President Barack Obama—interviewed for a video exhibition on race relations in America, featured at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC. Additionally, his media presence includes dozens of appearances on CNN, MSNBC and NPR, feature interviews on ABC's 20/20 and CBS's 48 Hours, as well as videos posted on YouTube, Facebook and other social media platforms that have received over 20 million views. His podcast, “Speak Out with Tim Wise,” launched this fall and features weekly interviews with activists, scholars and artists about movement building and strategies for social change. Wise graduated from Tulane University in 1990 and received antiracism training from the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, in New Orleans. 53:00 Christian Finnegan  is an American stand-up comedian, writer and actor based in New York City.   BUY HIS NEW ALBUM--- "Show Your Work: Live at QED"   Finnegan is perhaps best known as one of the original panelists on VH1's Best Week Ever and as Chad, the only white roommate in the “Mad Real World” sketch on Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show. She was most recently seen in I Care A Lot on Netflix, starring Rosamund Pike and Dianne Wiest, and leading the cast of the December release Modern Persuasion. Other recent credits include Netflix's Orange Is The New Black as Zelda; along with The Walking Dead, Supernatural, ABC's Nashville, FOX's The Exorcist, and Showtime's 3rd season of David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Films include Two Weeks' Notice, Last Holiday, The Upside of Anger, Mr. Holland's Opus, Urban Legend, Four Rooms, 88 Minutes, Urban Legend and Vanilla Sky. Alicia is also well known to Hallmark Channel audiences for her Christmas movies, beginning with 2013's A Very Merry Mixup; her eighth annual holiday film for the network, Christmas Tree Lane, which she produced, wrote the story for, and featured two of Witt's original Christmas songs, was released for the 2020 holiday season. Witt co-produced her next album, The Conduit, with Jordan Lehning and Bill Reynolds in Nashville TN, where she resides. Led by the first two singles, Chasing Shadows and Talk To You, the record comes out September 24th. A classically trained former competitive pianist, Alicia's music has been described as 'sharply personal, boldly melodic pop originals in the Carole King/Billy Joel vein' and 'touching lost-and-found love ballads' (Philadelphia Inquirer). Alicia has performed her original piano-driven pop music all over the world, including at the renowned Grand Ole Opry. Alicia has also opened for Ben Folds Five, Rachel Platten, and Jimmy Webb, to name a few. Her 2018 release, 15000 Days, was produced by Grammy-winning producer Jacquire King (James Bay, Norah Jones, Kings of Leon, Dawes). Witt's previous album, Revisionary History, was produced by Ben Folds and was described as 'Grey Seal era Elton John, an alt-universe Fiona Apple, and a film noir chanteuse notching her nights in cigarette burns on the fallboard' (NASHVILLE SCENE). As a musical guest, Alicia has appeared on numerous shows including NPR's Weekend Edition, CBS' Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Queen Latifah Show, WGBH'S Open Studio on PBS, Good Day Nashville, KTLA's Morning Show, Good Morning Washington, and many performances on Hallmark's Home & Family Show. Alicia's music has been heard in numerous TV shows and movies over the past 10 years, including her ironic Christmas song 'I'm Not Ready for Christmas', which was featured in her Hallmark Christmas movie of the same name. Witt can add author to her resume with Small Changes, out October 5 2021 from Harper Horizons. The book is an inspiring, welcoming and simple yet effective guide to health, happiness and sustainable living. Instead of promoting a rigid diet, Small Changes will instead offer readers a stress-and-judgment-free approach for enacting easy, incremental changes across all areas of life. On stage, Witt starred in Neil LaBute's Tony nominated play Reasons to Be Pretty at the Geffen Playhouse. She also appeared at London's Royal Court theatre in Terry Johnson's Piano/Forte and made her West End debut with The Shape of Things. She has also performed at Williamstown Theatre Festival and is a regular participant in the 24-Hour Plays on Broadway and the 24-Hour Musicals off-Broadway. Other significant roles include Showtime's House of Lies, NBC's Friday Night Lights, CBS' The Mentalist and NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She spent 4 years on the CBS hit show Cybill and has also appeared on the HBO series The Sopranos, CBS's Two and a Half Men, Ally McBeal, and David Lynch's original Twin Peaks.

Norm MacDonald is dead. The old chunk of coal has ceased to be. He fought a ten year long silent battle with cancer and finally decided to call it a draw. He was a deeply closeted gay man to the end, but he was never actually gay, because he refused to come out. He also never owned a doghouse. He was the only comedian brave enough to openly declare that he thought Hitler was a real JERK. The greatest tragedy of his passing is that we will now never know where his ideas came from. In this episode we pay tribute to a real one. Alan Moore's Watchmen treated the death of a comedian like an ill omen for things to come. This sinking feeling takes us back to remember others gone too soon like Patrice O'Neal and Terry Jones. We then find ourselves looking at the degradation of classic late night television since the days of Letterman, Conan and Craig Ferguson. Although as a public service message, we also elaborate on why the State Bank of India is possibly the best bank in the world. (Not Sponsored. Yet)Never trusting typists at mindthygap@gmail.com

Did a family move into a brand new house, only to discover that they are not the first ones to live there? Here is a preview of the story. “The real, noticeably creepy stuff started a few weeks into it. I was in my kitchen making chili when I heard my front door open. The door was a deadbolt, you had to turn the lock at the top of the door AND turn the knob to even push it open (the deadbolt is always engaged, it was on a spring or something). I look out and see my door cracked open with the deadbolt sitting against the frame. I looked out into the hall and saw nothing, did not hear anything, just empty. I just shrugged it off and went back to my chili. Then I started to hear my microwave beep. There was not enough space or outlets to leave my microwave plugged in, I had to move it and plug it in when I needed it, so other than that it was always unplugged and in the corner of my kitchen. I was on my couch watching Craig Ferguson and heard the the beep of someone pushing a button on it...again while it was unplugged. There was no other machine or anything that could beep, and it was not the same beep from the smoke detector. This continued every night after this, on top of the random conversations that you could not make out.” To hear more real ghost stories, become a supporter of our show and get every episode, including our weekly bonus episodes at http://www.ghostpodcast.com or http://www.patreon.com/realghoststories  Watch more at: http://www.realghoststoriesonline.com/ Follow Tony: Instagram: HTTP://www.instagram.com/tonybrueski TikToc: https://www.tiktok.com/@tonybrueski Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tony.brueski If you have a real ghost story or supernatural event to report, please write into our show or call 1-855-853-4802! Now on to today's show notes Andrew Spar is president of the Florida Education Association, the state's largest association of professional employees. Spar was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City, attending public schools. A violinist since age 6, he earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Ohio State University, graduating in 1994. That same year, he went to Daytona Beach to teach at Turie T. Small Elementary School, where more than 90 percent of the students lived in poverty. The music teacher soon found his voice as an advocate and has worked ever since on behalf of public school students, schools, teachers and education staff professionals. “I could not read when I was in first grade,” Spar recalls. “I struggled in school. But the educators in my life were empowered to make my success a priority, and that's just what they did. I want the same world for my family and for all of Florida's children.” At Turie T. Small, Spar served as school-improvement chair for two years and as a union steward for seven years. He would go on to become president of his local union in May 2003 and led Volusia United Educators until he was elected FEA vice president in 2018. In September 2020, he was named FEA president after the previous president, Fedrick C. Ingram, was elected secretary-treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers. During his 15 years leading the Volusia union, Spar negotiated 14 contracts, handled numerous grievances and arbitrations, and spent many long hours advocating for members and working families. In 2017, he led the merger of the Volusia Teachers Organization and the Volusia Educational Support Association to create Volusia United Educators(link is external). The new union has nearly 3,800 members and represents more than 6,000 teachers, paraprofessionals and office specialists in Volusia County Schools. Throughout his career, Spar has served on committees and task forces for the AFT. At FEA, he spent eight years on the executive cabinet. He also has served on the executive board of the Florida AFL-CIO(link is external) and was secretary-treasurer of the organization from January 2016 until September 2020. Spar's wife, Vernell, is also a public school music teacher. The Spars have two daughters; both girls attend public schools. Sara Kamali, PhD is a holistic justice activist and a scholar of systemic inequities, White nationalism, and militant Islamism. Her writings and activism address how interlocking institutions of power oppress the many while maintaining systems of privilege for a select few.  Dr. Kamali is also the author of Homegrown Hate: Why White Nationalists and Militant Islamists Are Waging War against the United States published by University of California Press. In the first book to directly compare White nationalists and militant Islamists in the United States, Dr. Kamali examines their histories and networks as well as their self-described beliefs, grievances, and rationales for violence. She also calls for changing the current counterterrorism paradigm in the United States to one based on what she defines as “holistic justice” in order to effectively counter what is now the greatest terrorist threat faced by the United States and by many countries around the world. She also writes two monthly series, Activating Justice and Jessie Spano is in the Wake. The first focuses on the work of everyday heroes working to make their communities more equitable and is in an interview format. The second applies the lessons learned from Jessie Spano's time at the fictional Bayside High as an ally and activist to examine some of the same challenges we face in the real world today.    Dr. Kamali is passionate about striving against oppression in all forms at the axis of systemic racism, particularly ableism, the opportunity gap within education, and food and housing insecurity. Sydney is still in lockdown, which means the boys can't meet in person (thank god), but that also means we are still recording remotely. This week we feel the wrath of remote recording as we fall victim to Rohit's John Howard-era dial-up internet. After trying to record with that man on a 30 second delay, we gave up and decided to just record without him. In true cowardly fashion, we spend the first 10 minutes of this week's episode slamming Rohit behind his back, before we rant about other buffoons we'd seen on social media skirting lockdown protocols. The “Best Friend Check” is back for 2021! For our new listeners, this is a game to see who the real friends are at Critical Banter. For the next 4 weeks each host will test the other 3 on how well they know them. To kick us off, Kushagra is in the hot seat this week and puts the boys through their paces - can they do better than last year's abysmal effort? This week ends with the always popular “Cuck or Be Cucked.” In this edition, Miguel shares 2 cuckings from his week: a work-based professional cucking and more wholesome cucking. Sen also presents a bizarre cucking that occurred during the week which typically descends into wang chat. Also this week: Dial-Up internet, Lockdown laws, AJ Tracey, Craig Ferguson and navy seals. Segments this week: The Logue: Tired of reaching around each other (at least on the podcast), the boys have instead decided to reach around the week's news stories, events and viral trends. Best Friend Check: The boys test each other on their friendship and try to expose how little they actually know about each other. Cuck or Be Cucked: Have you or your loved one been alpha'd recently? In this segment the boys give you tips on how to alpha those who have alpha'd you. ___________________________________________________ FULL PODCAST EPISODES

Finally its George Zarkadakis Cyber Republic Reinventing Democracy in the Age of Intelligent Machines How to make liberal democracies more inclusive and the digital economy more equitable: a guide for the coming Fourth Industrial Revolution. Around the world, liberal democracies are in crisis. Citizens have lost faith in their government; right-wing nationalist movements frame the political debate. At the same time, economic inequality is increasing dramatically; digital technologies have created a new class of super-rich entrepreneurs. Automation threatens to transform the free economy into a zero-sum game in which capital wins and labor loses. But is this digital dystopia inevitable? In Cyber Republic, George Zarkadakis presents an alternative, outlining a plan for using technology to make liberal democracies more inclusive and the digital economy more equitable. Cyber Republic is no less than a guide for the coming Fourth Industrial Revolution and the post-pandemic world. Zarkadakis, an expert on technology and management, explains how artificial intelligence, together with intelligent robotics, sophisticated sensors, communication networks, and big data, will fundamentally reshape the global economy; a new “intelligent machine age” will force us to adopt new forms of economic and political organization. He envisions a future liberal democracy in which intelligent machines facilitate citizen assemblies, helping to extend citizen rights, and blockchains and cryptoeconomics enable new forms of democratic governance and business collaboration. Moreover, the same technologies can be applied to scientific research and technological innovation. We need not fear automation, Zarkadakis argues; in a post-work future, intelligent machines can collaborate with humans to achieve the human goals of inclusivity and equality.
