In this week's episode, Karen tells Mallory about the West Mesa Murders that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the early 2000's. On February 2nd, 2009, a human bone was found in an undeveloped area of Albuquerque's West Mesa region. This bone would lead the APD to the discover the remains of 11 women and 1 fetus. The victims were between 15 and 32 years of age, most were Hispanic, and over the next year, they would slowly be identified thanks to DNA evidence. In the years that followed, police believed the work to be that of a serial killer and though two suspects were brought to light, no one has ever been charged with the crimes. Who killed these women in the early 2000's and is a serial killer still roaming free?

In today's episode, Mallory tells Karen about the Starved Rock murders from 1960 and the recent developments that unsolved the case and exonerated Chester Weger who spent more than 60 years in prison for the crime. Who killed Mildred Lindquist, Lillian Oetting and Frances Murphy on March 14, 1960 and will this case be solved with all the time that has passed?
In this week's episode, Karen tells Mallory about the Oklahoma Girl Scout murders that occurred at Camp Scott in 1977. Lori Lee Farmer (8), Doris Denise Milner (10), and Michele Heather Guse (9) were all found slain in their sleeping bags along one of the main trails of the camp early in the morning on June 13th, 1977. The girls were found to have been sexually assaulted before brutally killed at some time during the night before. For over 45 years, people have wondered who committed these heinous crimes and though the case is still considered unsolved, just a few months ago, new DNA testing that was completed has all but confirmed who killed these three young girls.
In this week's episode, Mallory tells Karen about the mysterious death of Colonel Philip Shue in April of 2003. The 54yo soon-to-be retired Air Force Colonel was found dead from a violent car crash on a Texas highway outside of San Antonio. Though investigators would inevitably deem his death a suicide, family and friends and even a civil trial judge, would disagree. The circumstances surrounding his death, including the way his body was found in the car after the crash and peculiar events leading up to the crash itself, have created far more questions than answers. What happened to Colonel Shue? Will we ever find out the truth?
In today's episode, Karen talks to Mallory about the disappearance of Stacy Ann Peterson on October 29th, 2007 in Bolingbrook, IL. This case gained national attention due to the flippancy and outright strange behavior of Stacy's husband at the time, Drew Peterson. Authorities, family, and friends all believe Stacy to have been murdered and her body dumped somewhere in the Des Plaines River but to date, Stacy's body has never been found and her case remains an active investigation. Her former husband, Drew Peterson, is serving more than 70 years in prison for the murder of his second wife, Kathleen Savio, and for soliciting a murder for hire of the Will County State's Attorney who was prosecuting him for the murder of Savio. Drew Peterson maintains his innocence in Stacy's disappearance but do we?
In this week's episode, Mallory tells Karen about the Oakland County Child Murders in Oakland County, Michigan from 1976 - 1977. At least four children were abducted and murdered during this one-year span in Oakland County and to date, the killer has yet to be caught.

In today's episode, Karen tells Mallory about the disappearance and murder of Amy Mihaljevic in October of 1989 outside of Cleveland. Amy disappeared on October 27th, 1989 in Bay Village, Ohio from the Bay Square Shopping Center. Her body was found on February 8th, 1990 in a field in rural Ashland County, Ohio. The investigation uncovered a series of mysterious phone calls through the suburban area where Amy was kidnapped, that were trying to lure young girls out to meet someone who claimed to be a friend or colleague of one of their parents. Despite several persons of interest and key suspects, no arrest has ever been made for the person who abducted and murdered young Amy.

In this week's episode, Karen tells Mallory about the mysterious and downright dumbfounding aspects of the death of Lauren Smith-Fields on December 12th, 2021. Ms. Smith-Fields was found deceased in her apartment on December 12th, 2021, after an apparent overdose of drugs and alcohol. She had been on a Bumble date the night before with a man she had never met before then. The detectives initially assigned to the case never notified her family and didn't follow standard protocol, including collecting evidence from the scene or investigating the person who was found with her body - the Bumble date. What happened to Ms. Smith-Fields would've remained unknown if it wasn't for the efforts of her friends and family rallying across social media and in their community to find justice for Lauren.
In this week's episode, Mallory takes us back to 1938 Grand Rapids, MI. to discuss the mysterious murder of Mina Dekkar, a secretary who was working by herself during a lunch break at an abrasives retail operation in downtown Grand Rapids.
On the morning of December 23rd, 1975, Carol Rofstad, a 21yo student at Illinois State University in Normal, IL. was found badly beaten and left for dead outside of her sorority house at around 10am, an 18" piece of railroad tie was found nearby. Most students had left campus already for the holiday break and those that remained did not hear or see anything the night of her attack though two white males, between 18-25yo had been seen around 10pm on December 22nd, carrying clubs in the area. Investigators believe she was attacked around 12 hours before her body was found badly beaten and unconscious with frost-bite from being out in the cold overnight. Carol would die of her injuries a day later, on Christmas Eve. There seemed to be evidence of sexual assault but no rape kit was done and no suspects were brought in for questioning. The case remains open to this day and there are those still working on trying to solve this murder.

This is one of our most graphic episodes to date so I've stuck in a trigger warning as there are graphic descriptions of body dismemberment, pregnancy abuse, and fetal murder. The crimes against the Dardeen's have remained unsolved for more than 40 years. Who would go to such lengths to destroy this family? What were their motives? Will this case ever be solved and justice finally given to the Dardeens and their extended family?
Mark Coulthurst bought The Investor to continue building his small fishing business as well as keep his growing family near him while he did so. Mark and his wife Irene, both 28 at the time, had two young children - Kimberly, 5 and John, 4, as well as a baby on the way. The family, along with their four teenage deckhands, Chris Heyman, 18; and Jerome Keown, Dean Moon, and Mike Stewart, all 19 had come to port with their final haul of the season on September 5th. By the morning of September 6th, the Investor would be spotted a mile offshore, burning wildly near an uninhabited bay. Suspects were brought in but the prime suspect has been exonerated. Locals and investigators believe they know the culprit but don't have the evidence to bring him to justice. Who killed these 8 young people and got away with Alaska's most horrific mass murder?
In Season 2's first episode, Mallory tells Karen about the murders of Candy Belt and Gloria Ross in Oak Grove, Kentucky. Oak Grove sits right next door to the military's Fort Campbell, where much of the town's revenue is generated by the personnel who live on the base. Candy Belt and Gloria Ross worked at the New Life Massage Parlor, a frequently visited massage parlor that was known more for it's undisclosed services. Candy and Gloria were murdered in a backroom of the massage parlor in the early morning of September 20, 1994. Speculation of who killed the women ran rampant and multiple individuals in the town were considered suspects. In 2013, three men were charged with the murders, two of whom were ex Oak Grove police officers at the time of the murders, but none were effectively convicted of the crime leaving all of us wondering: Who killed Candy Belt and Gloria Ross and will they and their families ever see justice?
In this week's episode, Mallory tells Karen about the 1986 mysterious disappearances and deaths in Owensboro, KY. In July of 1986, 16yo Shannon Green would go missing. Five days later, her friend David DeWayne Bell would be reported missing as well. Angie Dickens would also be reported missing during this time though she had not been seen for a few weeks when finally reported missing. All three missing persons would be connected by a recording provided by a convicted murderer and serial rapist, John Rainier. Listen in while Mallory tries to unravel the web of mystery surrounding the fates of each person. Who killed Angie Dickens? Where are Shannon and DeWayne? Was John Rainier involved?
In April of 1971, the Freeway Phantom abducted, raped, and murdered his first victim, Carol Spinks sparking a two-year-long abduction and murder spree of young black women in the DC area. The Freeway Phantom garnered his moniker due to his using the I-295 beltway around the DC metro area to dispose of his victims. Several suspects were discussed but no one has ever been convicted of the crimes. Who killed these young girls? Will there ever be justice for their families?
11-year-old Trudy Appleby went missing on August 21st, 1996. She was last seen leaving her home and getting into a grey-colored older model car with a man. Her father and authorities believed she had made plans to go swimming with a friend near Campbell's Island off the Mississippi River that day and was never seen again. What happened to Trudy? In this week's episode, Karen tells Mallory about the abduction and murder of 10yo Lyric Ray Lynn Cook-Morrissey and 8yo Elizabeth Collins in Evansdale, Iowa during the summer of 2012. The case bears a remarkable similarity to the unsolved case of Liberty German and Abigail Williams in Delphi, Indiana. The Evansdale Murders remain unsolved to this day.
Darlie Routier and her two eldest sons, Damon and Devin were attacked in the middle of the night. While Darlie lived through the ordeal, neither son was so lucky, and the aftermath and finger-pointing as to whodunnit began just as quickly. Darlie has been in prison on death row for the murder of both of her sons since 1997. Did she really do it or was it someone else?
In this episode, Karen tells Mallory and Anthony about the Chicago Tylenol Murders that occurred in 1982 and are the reason why we have safety seals on everything today. Mallory also explains how cyanide works as a poison and why it works so quickly.
