Pontiac's War: Fire on the Frontier, Peace in the ShadowsIn 1763, as British flags replaced French ones across the Great Lakes, the First Peoples of Michigan faced a new empire—one that dismissed their diplomacy, severed their trade, and threatened their way of life. Led by Odawa war chief Pontiac and inspired by the spiritual teachings of Neolin, tribes from across the region united in a massive resistance campaign. This episode traces the dramatic siege of Fort Detroit, the harrowing use of smallpox at Fort Pitt, and the chilling aftermath of Pontiac's assassination, including the haunting legend of Starved Rock. From war councils beneath the pines to vengeance on the banks of the Mississippi, Pontiac's War was not just a rebellion—it was a defense of land, life, and sovereignty. And its echoes still shape the memory of the Great Lakes today. Tune in as End of the Road in Michigan brings this powerful story to life through dramatic narrative and historic insight.

On March 14, 1960, 47-year-old Frances Murphy, 50-year-old Mildred Lindquist, and 50-year-old Lillian Oetting took a four-day trip to Starved Rock State Park, in LaSalle County, Illinois. After checking into the Starved Rock Lodge, the three women decided to take an afternoon hike to the St. Louis Canyon. Unfortunately, they were never seen alive again. Two days later, Frances, Mildred and Lillian were found inside a cave in the canyon. All 3 women were partially nude, bound with twine and their faces had been bludgeoned beyond recognition. Over 60 years later a lot of theories and questions still surround their case. It's a conversation that paints a clear picture of their dynamic, which often involves Giana trying to lay out the foundation and Bradshaw bouncing to the beat of his own drum. After chatting about therapy, water aerobics, nudity, language, conjugal visits, gonorrhea, and vaginas they finally take a deep breath and focus. They get serious about sequencing and talk about why It is so important to have a plan and blueprint. They also share really great advice, especially for new teachers, and emphasize the importance of simplicity and consistency. This isn't an episode of just jokes and laughs, though some of the absurdity can be seen as comical, It is an episode that gets deeply personal and reflects how both of them have responded to stimuli and sometimes stressful circumstances while on the job. These stories are shared with the intention of shedding light on the many different hats yoga teachers are sometimes asked to wear in hopes that their learning moments provide lessons or comfort to other teachers who have been in similar situations. On March 14, 1960, the bodies of three women from the Chicago suburbs were discovered in St. Louis Canyon, one of the many natural wonders at Starved Rock State Park, near Utica, Illinois. The crime shocked northern Illinois and led to a manhunt that snared a confessed killer who spent the next 59 years behind bars. They arrived from the Chicago suburb of Riverside, about 90 miles northeast of the park. On March 14, after checking into the Starved Rock Lodge, the three took an afternoon hike through St. Louis Canyon, but never returned. Their disappearances went unnoticed until March 16 when the husband of Frances Murphy phoned the lodge to inquire about his wife. Police organized a search of the park which led to the discovery of the women's bodies, bound with twine and partially disrobed, inside a cave in the canyon. All three suffered severe head trauma and a blood stained tree limb found nearby was determined to have been used to bludgeon them to death.
