The Pod Ween Satan podcast is a fun and entertaining deep dive into the discography of one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Ween. Hosted by Jay and Andrew, this podcast dissects each and every song in Ween's discography while offering interesting insights into their production. With their hilarious commentary and love for Gene and Dean, it's no wonder fans have been waiting 15 years for a podcast like this.
One of the best aspects of The Pod Ween Satan podcast is the chemistry between Jay and Andrew. Their banter is absolutely hilarious and keeps listeners engaged throughout each episode. They have a natural rapport that makes it feel like you're listening to two friends having a conversation about their favorite band. Their storytelling abilities are also commendable, as they often provide context and anecdotes about the songs or albums being discussed.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the educational element it brings to fans of Ween. For those who may be unfamiliar with the band's entire discography, this podcast serves as an excellent resource for diving deep into their music. Jay and Andrew offer valuable insights into each song's production, lyrics, and themes, giving listeners a greater appreciation for Ween's artistry.
However, there are some minor drawbacks to The Pod Ween Satan podcast. One criticism mentioned by a reviewer is that it may take a while to get to certain albums in Ween's discography due to the chronological format of the show. While this can be seen as a negative aspect for some fans who are eagerly waiting for discussions on specific albums like "White Pepper" or "Quebec," it can also build anticipation for future episodes.
In conclusion, The Pod Ween Satan podcast is a must-listen for any fan of Ween or those looking to explore their music. With its hilarious hosts, insightful commentary, and educational content, this podcast provides an entertaining deep dive into one of rock music's greatest bands. Whether you're a long-time Ween fan or just discovering their music, this podcast is sure to keep you hooked and entertained throughout its entire run.
Nice to see you, it's been awhile! We're still over at the Patreon doing the bonus show and having a deelightful time indeed. We're now doing a variation on the show called Pod Ween Satan: The Movie where we analyze shitty movies (instead of analyzing Ween songs for 2 minutes then talking about shitty movies and our telling stories from our jobs...I'm looking at you SampfordAndSun). It's been a blast and we wanted to let you know it was going on...maybe you want take a glimpse at our beautiful creation???? We do a pt.1 pre-amble on the 1st of every month and then a pt.2 full episode on the 3rd Sunday of the month. It's fun and cool and don't you wish you were there to partake in the glory? http://patreon.com/PodWeenSatan 3$ a month. Get involved Man.
So....see previous episodes description about Jay expressing his love for you through anger and vitriol. Special sorry to Scott from the UK. You caught it bad on this one. That said...you kinda brought it on yourself now didn't you? Think about it. Come to patreon.com/podweensatan The show lives on every Sunday with new episodes. Only 3$ a month. C'mon!
It's not quite over! We read your fan mail and give lots of shoutouts. It was such a huge success we had to break it up into 2 episodes! Now remember...when Jay makes fun of you it's because he loves you....not because he's secretly insecure and so he compensates by being a bully. It's because he LOVES YOU.
We did it. We made it. 188 episodes and just over 3 years. We look forward to doing the next season of the show when/if Ween puts out another studio album. We sincerely hope that day will come but until then....Patreon anyone? https://www.patreon.com/PodWeenSatan
Penultimate tune alert. Here it is. One take. It's the closest you'll hear Studio Ween sound like Live Ween. They captured the sweaty ear ringing intensity that's fer damn sure.
Crazy tape hiss. Put on those headphones and really listen to it. The sincereity is unprecendented. Ween at their most delicate and beauteous.
Could've sworn this was always called Sweetheart In The Summer. Oh well. Deaner gets vulnerable and sensitive. Strings! We love it.
Merry Christmas! Twas about this time 3 years ago when we began this journey. Only a few weeks before we complete the saga. Snuggle up next to the fire and take a moment to appreciate the good things in life.
Dontcha just love when Ween puts on the wizard's cloak and gets all proggy?! Makes me want to bust out some of those old King Crimson albums that gather dust. I'm talking Lizards, Islands, Larks Tongue in Aspic. You know those ones that suck but are also awesome? If Robert Fripp had "auto tune" to play with back then...man...a little auto tune and a little mellotron. Mmmmmmm good.
Hey sometimes you have to crack one open and poke around a bit before you dive in head first.
Top quality Deaner lyrics. This one shreds. A pure delight to see LIVE.
Do you hear the horns now Dave? Do you? Do you now?? Yes I can hear the horns Clem Fandango.
Submit your questions, comments and queries to our awesome email address at: podweensatan2@gmail.com We will wait until November 20th (ish) 2023 before recording the episode and read some of your (hopefully) insightful and (likely) insane thoughts on the air. Don't forget to sign off on the msg with your preferred Handle/Moniker so that we aren't tempted to read email address on the air. This msg will self deestruct in T-Minus 10 days....
If there ever was a Thesis Statement for Ween as a band it would be "Friends". Friends. Friendship. That is what Ween is all about. Never say "fwends". That is absolutely awful.
Getting some Zoloft vibes off this one. Great tune that is often overlooked.
We're back! It's time for the (non-pen)Ultimate season of Pod Ween Satan. It took us a while to get it going and we thank you for your patience. Life got all turned upside down in 2023 but we're here to make it right.
Hello you beautiful people! We are still busily recording the upcoming La Cucaracha season. In the meantime we wanted to unlock one of our fan favorite Patreon Episodes. This one sparked a lively debate in the msg boards. The WGA/SAG strike has all of us crew members in Hollywood on our knees begging for mercy. We originally designed the Patreon as a means to pay for the expenses of making a podcast. Until this strike ends the Patreon Bonus Show is our sole source of income to buy food and feed the food into our fat piggy mouths. If you've been on the fence until now use this desperate moment in film crew history to dig into the couch and retrieve 3$ in quarters to throw our way. You get just shy of 200 episodes of PURE UNCUT GOLD. That's right people. Gold. For 3 Dollars. What a deal! We love you and we appreciate the support.
A very very Special Guest coming at you HOT. It's been an increasingly long hiatus so we wanted to give you lovely listeners a little gift appetizer for the forthcoming season for La Cucaracha. It was a record long recording session that we should have broken up into two separate eps but we waned to give you all the raw uncut goodness in one gigantor 2hr episode. Buckle Up. Also we traditionally command you to give all of your money to Ween but this week take a little slice of that cheddar and hand it to our Special Guest. He's performing under the name "Where is your dog now" and you can find him on Spotify, Bandcamp, and the below website. Do us a solid and listen to his tunes and then buy some of them tunes. Make it so. https://www.whereisyourdognow.com
We didn't want it to be this way but...it's what the Universe wants. You can't fight the Universe. You just can't. Don't fret. As soon as we get back in the same town and find the time to record Season 12 "La Cucaracha" we will do it and get it into your greedy pig-like hands. In the meantime get your ass over to www.Patreon.com/podweensatan and sign up for new bonus episodes every Sunday. That train keeps A' Rollin my friends. Yes it does.
Holy smokes people! That's it for the Friends EP. Only one more season of Pod Ween Satan left to go??!! They said it couldn't be done. Were they right? Anything could happen. We might go the George RR Martin route and stretch out the final season recording sessions for a decade or so. Keep you edging....frothing at the mouth in anticipation. Let us marinate on that.
Season 11 has cometh. Enjoy the fruits that come forth unto thee.
What a solid closer. What didn't fit on Quebec sure does feel at home on Shinola Vol 1. We'll see you next week to kickoff Season 11 with the "Friends EP".
Ween returns to their Prince-y roots with this one.
Coolest song to ever mention Harry Truman...hands down. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are about to have a Happy New Year! See you in 2023 babyyyyyyyy
A prog rock masterpiece. The album rotates around it. If Shinola was the solar system then Did You See Me? is the Sun. El Sol
Can't think of a better song to blast in your car with the windows rolled down right after you've met the love of your life. Perfectly captures that particular serene vibe. Beauty-ous.
We're back baby! Between work and breeding it took a while to get you the new sesaon but here it is. Shinola Vol 1 comin in hotttttt.
We're still on hiatus for a little bit. Don't worry lil' darlings we'll be releasing the new season of PWS soon. Shinola Vol.1 is almost in the can and ready for you to dig into. In the meantime we wanted to give you a taste of the Patreon Bonus Show for Pod Ween Satan. We post new episodes every Sunday (even during the current main show hiatus) and if you love this show you'll love the Patreon. It's only 3$ a month and you get killer episodes like this one for "The Meadow". It's a track from the Z-Rock Hawaii album and if you haven't already heard it you are in for a real treat. It's a BANGER. This is one of our favorite episodes from the Patreon show. Enjoy and head on over to Patreon for over 100+ bonus episodes. https://www.patreon.com/PodWeenSatan
We'll be back soon. Don't worry. Stop worrying. Everything will be ok. We promise. -Jay & Dave In the meantime go to https://www.patreon.com/PodWeenSatan and subscirbe to the bonus show. We will continue to have new episodes up every week for subscribers at the very low price of $3.00 a month. If you can manage to peel off a few singles then you can continue to have your fix of Jay and Dave rambling about nonsense every week without interruption. Blammo.
Closing out Quebec brings a tear to me eye. Ween finally does Dave a solid and ends an album with a fire-y banger. Not much consensus on what the lyrics truly mean but we're pretty sure they are saturated in angst. Farewell sweet Quebec. You will be missed my friend.
150 episodes! Another milestone. Rolling in on the Penultimate Slot...epic landscapes abound...we bring to you...THE ARGUS.
This one slips past the radar on your average listen DESPITE the insane fact that Alcan Road is the longest track on Quebec. We feel like this song should be permanently attached to The Argus and played as a suite/medley. Thinking of something like the full Weather Report Suite for you Deadheads out there.
This is one of my favorite intrumentals. I just love it. False endings galore. Grazie mi amore!
Another in a long line of quintessential Ween Breakup Songs. This one features a rippin Gener solo with a dollop of brown at the tail end.
One of Ween's greatest tunes hands down no need for debate end of story goodbye see you later alligator.
I'm in love with this tune these days. It never really piqued my interest previously but I can't get that eery drone of "Captain...." out of my head.
The album needed a little mood shift. Can't just paddle through the murky murk all day long can we?
When Dave and I first heard Quebec this song stood out as an immediate and quintessential Ween Banger. We eventually fell in love with the album as a whole but hearing Marbles assured us that we were still living deep within a Ween Renaissance. Perfect mixture of delicate melodic songwriting and a tidal wave of brown. When it hits it hits big. Stick that index finger way up in the air because ROCK HAS BEEN ACHIEVED.
