Your Love Let Your love play upon my voice and rest on my silence. Let it pass through my heart into all my movements. Let Your love, like stars, shine in the darkness of my sleep and dawn in my awakening. Let it burn in the flame of my desires and flow in all currents of my own love. Let me carry Your love in my life as a harp does its music; and give it back to You at last with my life. Rabindranath Tagore The Heart of God: Prayers of Rabindranath Tagore. Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved, but hope for the patience to win my freedom. Grant me that I may not be a coward, feeling Your mercy in my success alone; but let me find the grasp of Your hand in my failure. When I lived in a house "When I lived in a house I heard a monk's words and saw in those words nirvana the unchanging state. I am the one who left son and daughter, money and grain, cut off my hair and set out into homelessness. Under training on the straight way, desire and hatred fell away, along with the obsessions of the mind that combine with them. After my ordination, I remembered I had been born before. The eye of heaven became clear. The elements fo body and mind I saw as other, born from a cause, subject to decay. I have given up the obsessions of the mind. I am quenched and cool." Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs, and the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of the flowering grove. There is no master of his in the world, no ruler of his, not even a sign of him, He is the cause, the lord of the lords of the organs, and there is of him neither parent nor lord. He is the one God, hidden in all beings, all-pervading, the self within all beings, watching over all works, dwelling in all beings, the witness, the perceiver, the only one, free from qualities. The wise who perceive Him dwelling within their self, to them belongs eternal happiness and serenity, not to others, He who knows this God as primal cause, through Sāṁkhya (reflection) and Yoga (self-discipline), achieves Mukti (freedom). ~ Shvetashvatara Upanishad 6.7-6.13 Translated by Paul Deussen

By what do we subsist? and on what are we founded? By whom regulated, do we have our being, ye wise men? in the changing conditions of joy and sorrow? Are Time, Nature, Necessity, Chance, Basic matter, the Spirit, the primal cause? Can the union of these be thought of as the primal cause? It is not that, however, because the Self exists. Rig Veda 10:129 Hymn Of Creation There was neither non-existence nor existence then. There was neither the realm of space nor the sky which is beyond. What stirred? Where? In whose protection? Was there water, bottomlessly deep? There was neither death nor immortality then. There was no distinguishing sign of night nor of day. That One breathed, windless, by its own impulse. Other than that there was nothing beyond. Darkness was hidden by darkness in the beginning, with no distinguishing sign, all this was water. The life force that was covered with emptiness, that One arose through the power of heat. Desire came upon that One in the beginning, that was the first seed of mind. Poets seeking in their heart with wisdom found the bond of existence and non-existence. Their cord was extended across. Was there below? Was there above? There were seed-placers, there were powers. There was impulse beneath, there was giving forth above. Who really knows? Who will here proclaim it? Whence was it produced? Whence is this creation? The gods came afterwards, with the creation of this universe. Who then knows whence it has arisen? Whence this creation has arisen – perhaps it formed itself, or perhaps it did not – the One who looks down on it, in the highest heaven, only He knows or perhaps even He does not know.
